Looking at a kitchen with an island with a 36" inch gas rangetop and no venting. Inspector said there's old downdraft venting below the island. I want to replace it with a 36" induction cooktop and downdraft. Is this even possible? I'm assuming I'd lose the drawers in the island, but I'm wondering about the granite counter retrofit, the 36" induction cooktop won't go to the edge.

We're putting an induction cooktop on our island and looking at options for vents. I definitely do not want anything portruding from the ceiling, so I think my only choices are recessed ceiling mounted vents or Downdraft vents. Any thoughts or advice on those choices?
