It’s not really recommended to use cotton swabs on anything but the external ear. Pour warm water over the ears during bath to help loosen wax. If that is not enough, you can use a syringe to put a few milliliters of mineral oil gently into the ear canal, massage, and then rinse with warm water. Cotton swabs just push the wax back and can cause wax impaction and discomfort.

2 weeks ago, lost balance saw doc had infection in right ear and build up in left. Antibiotics, right ear cleared up. Left ear and it's wax build up is getting worse. I've tried optex syringe and drops just makes pain worse if honest. Doc said try olive oil and I have no budging. NHS aren't removing it either. I'm so anxious and sad because of pain and the lightheaded feeling.

I have a blocked ear full of wax, doctor said they aren't syringe on NHS atm but private are and I can't afford atm. Anyway, would blocked ear be why I have random lightheaded spells? Other symptoms are hot ear and pain.
