Custom 3D printed translucent triggers for a MIDI sequencer
The whole process of printing the custom translucent triggers used on the Rekke sequencer controls. An internal translucent water washable resin was used, with an opaque PLA cap. Since there were no off-the-shelf options for Rekke’s design, the solution was to create them from scratch.

Is this print quality bad enough to ask for a refund / remake? (Etsy, PLA resin)
Included a pic of the 3D model itself. So much detail lost, and my god, so many print lines. This is one of the few models I’ve ordered printed, so I’m not sure how “bad” this really is. Resin printing safe setup?

What's the advantage of resin printing over FDM?
I run a print lab at a college and we have tons of 3d printers. Basically everything is handled by the printers, but we do have 3 elegoo resin printers. We've never really used them, maybe once a month. Should we be using them more? If so what for? I've never really understood the point. submitted by /u/sam-63 to r/resinprinting [link] [comments]

Received a print with spots of resin on the packaging, is it safe or should I dispose it?
I just got this resin mini delivered. When I opened the box I noticed these smudges of resin on the inner packaging of one of the parts. I poked the part with my nail through the packaging (did not open it yet) and it seems to be solid, even directly under the smudges. I also don’t see any pools of liquid resin or anything like that. I’ve read that resin is kinda toxic, so is this thing safe for me to open and use? No idea what type of resin was used. submitted by /u/TwentyThirdDimension to r/3Dprinting [link] [comments]

What’s the brutal reality of owning a Resin printer?
I’ve got about $500 to spend on my first 3D printer. I mainly want to print DnD minis and anime figures to paint for fun. The quality looks incredible, but I know resin is toxic and needs proper safety gear. For anyone with experience, how frustrating is resin printing really? What are the common headaches and “brutal realities” people don’t talk about? I’m worried I’ll end up finding it extremely frustrating and it’ll just sit collecting dust. submitted by /u/SonOfThorss to r/resinprinting [link] [comments]

I tbh thought resin printing is simple...
Some days ago I got my first resin printer, and it's one of the old ones to get started with. I quickly realize it's not like the normal printers that I used. It's something way different. Something maybe out of my league 😆 My first print of a head model looked awesome but the thin hair started to...bug? And break too Idk any settings of resin printing, I also dont know what to change, I would appreciate any help possible I use the printer anycubic photon mono And the default setting of lychee slicer submitted by /u/dilanyx to r/resinprinting [link] [comments]

Is resin printing on a decline?
I very rarely hear anything new happening in the world of resin printing. The whole projector thing instead of an OLED seems to have come and gone. It seems that there is very little innovation and even some disappointments when it comes to resin slicers like chitubox. Am I living under a rock or has resin printing just not had any major progress happen, while fdm printing in comparison is speeding through? submitted by /u/ihavenowingsss to r/3Dprinting [link] [comments]

Filament vs Resin Printing
I'm looking for some opinions on these two printers. Form 4L: Blazing Fast Large-Format Resin 3D Printer | Formlabs Original Prusa XL Semi-assembled 5-toolhead 3D Printer - Enclosure Bundle | Original Prusa 3D printers directly from Josef Prusa I'm looking for a printer for at work. The primary purpose of it is for random projects throughout the shop. This could be anything from tool holders, drawer organizers, custom guarding, custom machine parts, guides, fixtures, etc etc.. Point being I don't know what every possible part we might make with this thing would be, so I'm trying to plan out what might be the most useful. I know the costs of either of these pieces of equipment are vastly different, the resin printer is about 5X the cost of the filament printer. I'm not concerned about the additional cost, I want something that will be the most useful over the years to come. The reason I'm considering the high cost of the resin printer is that as I understand it, it will have much higher resolution, much less warpage of prints, and one of the materials you can print with is silicone, pretty neat. Also many of the materials that this resin printer has available are much stronger than other resin printers, so that gets me over the overall strength of functional parts. I think there is a coolness factor as well to the resin printer since the resolution is just so fantastic. However, the main reason I'm looking at the resin printer is the less warpage of prints. Can anyone tell me from experience if there is indeed less warpage with resin type printers? Generally speaking, I believe the things we would print would be on the larger side. This isn't something we'll be making production with, or high volume of any one part we would print. So I'm looking for something that will get a print done right the first time, so I don't need to go back and redo the thing 10 times to get it right. The reason I'm also really considering the filament printer is, the size is just larger in general and I can print multiple materials on the same part. Any insight, personal experience, anecdotes, are very much welcome. submitted by /u/Jimmydeanbean85 to r/3Dprinting [link] [comments]

YSK due to the microscopic space left between printing layers, almost all 3D printing is inherently not food-safe. Since bacteria can flourish in those spaces, the print must be sealed with a resin.
Why YSK: a lot of items printed for kitchens and bathrooms are being sold on eBay, Amazon, Etsy, etc. and a vast majority of them are not sealed. Even if you’re cleaning them with high temp dishwashers, the space between the layers can be a hiding place for dangerous bacteria. Either buy items that are sealed, or buy a *food-safe resin and seal your own items. Edit: food-safe resin submitted by /u/0000000000000007 to r/YouShouldKnow [link] [comments]
