Top reasons why this topic is getting popular

1. Increased Antibiotic Resistance

UTIs are becoming more difficult to treat due to the increasing prevalence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. This is leading to longer treatment times and more severe infections.

2. Rising Incidence in Women

Women are more likely to develop UTIs than men, and the incidence of UTIs in women is increasing. This may be due to factors such as changes in sexual behavior, increased use of certain types of birth control, and other lifestyle factors.

3. Growing Awareness and Diagnosis

As awareness of UTIs grows, more people are seeking medical attention for symptoms and receiving a diagnosis. This is leading to an increase in reported cases of UTIs.

4. Increased Risk in Elderly and Immunocompromised Individuals

Elderly individuals and those with weakened immune systems are at a higher risk for developing UTIs. As the population ages and more people are living with chronic illnesses, the incidence of UTIs is likely to increase.

5. Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to changes in healthcare access and behavior, which may be contributing to an increase in UTIs. For example, delayed medical care and increased stress levels may be leading to more UTIs in some individuals.

Most UTIs are caused by bacteria being transferred from poop/the butt into the urinary tract. Best way to avoid is to make sure you’re wiping front to back and cleaning thoroughly after a poopy nappy change. Girls are more at risk because the urethra is shorter and the close proximity of the vaginal to the anus, so hygiene extra important for girls.

Because my doctor knows this he always does a culture every time I see him. Macrobid is the antibiotic that clears it up most successfully, but I am allergic to it so they put me on augmentin.
