Yesterday, I thrifted this beautiful baby for a buckaroo or so. I was stoked because this makes my first 2000s Baby Alive, which I had been hoping for, so this is my oldest B.A. currently. She's from 2006, and my research showed she's a Wets 'n Wiggles! I hope I can make the features work someday.😐
I thrifted the baby with no clothes, so I put those newborn pantaloons that I already had on her. They used to be on a vintage 1980 doll that I thrifted two years and 4 days ago. :P When the back got unscrewed, I saw that the battery holding area was very corroded. I got some of it out with white vinegar because that removes battery corrosion from toys, and I also scraped some of it out with cotton swabs and toothpicks. There's this thing I did where I had vinegar-soaked cotton swabs (not sopping wet, just a bit damp) in all six spots, meaning every + and - end that holds the batteries. This morning, I put unused batteries in there, and nothing happened. Is there a way I could fix that, or would I have to find a toy repair expert? :O Reddit Post #283 - June 5th, 2026 submitted by /u/Blink-182__Nirvana__ to r/Dolls [link] [comments]

The Combined Desire and Hatred of Natural Large Breasts
This post was making the rounds not too long ago and I've been meaning to use it as a springboard for discussion here for a while now. I've always had a larger chest compared to my peers. From the minute puberty struck me I was carrying the weight of the world on my aching shoulders. Outside of pain there were the usual gamut of issues that came with being well-endowed, including unwanted male attention and the perception that society makes of voluptuous women and young girls regardless of their actual chastity. There's been an association with large breasts and perceived promiscuity for ages. Though what I really want to talk about when it comes to society's fixation on large breasts is what's highlighted in the commentary of the image: Large breasts are not considered desirable in their natural state. I came of age in the early 2000s-2010s. This was the height of unnaturally thin, hyper-feminine blonde women as the peak of female beauty standards. This was also the beginnings of plastic surgery starting to become more widely accepted rather than a well-kept secret behind closed doors. Pamela Anderson is probably the most well known example of a starlet known for her unnaturally massive bust. The rapid rise and spread of internet porn saw so many women getting breast augmentation than even in so many decades prior combined. It all impressed one thing on me soundly even then: The only large breasted women you saw during that era of entertainment were surgically enhanced ones. Any woman with natural breasts larger than a C were considered "deflated" "saggy" or an indication of old age and/or neglect of one's body. I knew of more than one girl in my high school who would admit to sleeping in their bras at night for fear of even the slightest sagging. Movies, shows, fashion, games-- any display of large breasts as desirable were explicitly in tandem with the gravity defying perkiness that only silicone implants or questionable anime physics could provide. I remember this all having an incredibly strong impact on me, even as an otherwise masculine/GNC dressing teen. Despite being young and relatively fit I still felt like something was wrong with my breasts since they didn't look like the other large breasted women I'd seen in movies or ads (or, unfortunately, porn). What I didn't understand then was that not even smaller breasts are always 100% perky with nipples facing the clouds 24/7. I even know a good number of large breasted women who got nipple piercing with the express purpose of keeping their nipples pert (and to avoid what were referred to as "dinner plate" nipples). With Ozempic giving unnatural thinness a renaissance and plastic surgery, botox and fillers becoming a commonplace thing, I feel like we're once again seeing this double-sided blade wielded against large breasts. Breasts sag with age. Larger breasts also have to contend with gravity. Or ill-fitted clothes. Or having the life sucked out of them from breastfeeding babies. Even young and full breasts on a woman as fit and healthy as an Olympian will droop because that's how our bodies hold heavy weight. Larger breasts will then, of course, have larger nipples as a result. For a sex obsessed culture that's even more obsessed with large breasts in particular, it's fascinating to me that same culture recoils in disgust at what naturally large breasts actually look like. submitted by /u/mullatomochaccino to r/4bmovement [link] [comments]

Another Mom Sold Me Stained Baby Clothes
I bought a large trash bag of baby girl clothes from another mom in my Bible study for $50. I finally had a chance to go through them, and it’s approximately 100 pieces. About half of the clothes have poop and food stains and/or bad pilling, and the other half are old styles from the 2000s and 2010s and look pretty worn. I feel ripped off and am looking for a little encouragement. When I sold my daughter’s clothes in younger sizes, I made sure everything was in like-new condition with no stains and I made sure moms would be getting good deals on good clothes. I thought other moms would do the same, but I guess not. submitted by /u/Designer_Site_6767 to r/Mommit [link] [comments]

On February 14, 1975, a teenager was found dead on the farm near Belle Chasse, Louisiana, from apparent suicide from hanging. He left a lengthy note quoting he feels sorry for his parents, he's been suffering from depression, and to try not to identify who he was. He remains John Doe to this day.
(Photo from gabulosis podcast.) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plaquemines\_Parish\_John\_Doe https://unidentified-awareness.fandom.com/wiki/Plaquemines\_Parish\_John\_Doe\_(1975) Plaquemines Parish John Doe was a teenager who died by suicide by hanging himself from a persimmon tree in Naomi near Belle Chasse, Louisiana. The police found a lengthy suicide note addressed to his parents, found in a sealed glass jar resting against the tree's trunk. On February 14, 1975, at 11:30 PM, a couple driving through the woods on a road between Highway 23 and the Mississippi River found a teenage male hanging from a persimmon tree. He had hung himself with a bedsheet tied into a slipknot. His death was ruled a suicide as moss from the tree matched the moss on the boy's clothes, proving he had scaled the tree to hang himself. Against the tree was a jar filled with note paper, the contents being a lengthy suicide note addressed to his parents: "Mom and Dad, I feel I have acted very methodically and coolly in my actions and my words. It is best if I cease to live, quietly, than risk that later I will break and shatter by violence or linger years under care. I never did develop into a real person and I cannot tolerate the false and empty existence I have created. I implore you to see a psychiatrist in order that you might understand my death and my life. Ask thoroughly about what I was and you will see that it is not tragic that I am gone but more natural than if I continued." The next section is titled "Why you should not feel responsible": "I was born with a definite pervasive melancholy… My brain always worked at cross-purposes to my real development. I refused to express any emotions or deal with people on a social basis. In effect, I refused to accept that I was an animal and that I needed social ties… What frustrated me most in the last year was that I had built no ties to family or friends. There was nothing of lasting worth and value. I led a detached existence and I was a parody of a person — literally and figuratively. I didn't tell jokes — I was a joke. I am a bomb of frustration and should never marry or have children. It is safest to defuse the bomb harmlessly now. I do not want to bother with being a ‘reformed’ and ‘cured’ person limping through life. I am this self-centered. I have wanted to do this for over a year. I am not sad or see this as tragic. I feel a release. This is the only way I know to attain harmony. I was a withdrawn baby who became an unpleasant, withdrawn person. I have convinced myself and others that I am not capable of being an asset to society. I am no longer interested in the world and know that it is not interested in me. When you stop growing you are dead. I stopped growing long ago." He also cited the writing of philosopher and psychologist Emile Durkheim, then added a note for authorities: "You are bound to preserve domestic peace and order. If you pursue who I was (and spend hundreds of dollars) you will accomplish little. There are no legal consequences of my death or any kind of entanglements. All that can happen is that you will shatter the domestic peace and order of two innocent lives. Do not deprive them of the hope that their "missing" son will return. Let me be, let it be as if I wasn't ever here. Simply cremate me as John Doe." The last section of the note, titled "Mom and Dad" appeared to have been written hastily: "Mom and Dad, You have provided me excellent advantages and privileges and experiences. I have really led more of my life than many others have in (illegible). I am extremely grateful for all of your sacrifices, time, and support. I am now repaying you with an arrogant act. In this light, I do see it as criminal. I can only hope that you see that it was me who caused it." The case was handled by Deputy Dominick Verdi, and the body was autopsied by Dr. Frank Minyard, who was a gynecologist and not a trained forensic pathologist. The boy's fingerprints were sent to Washington, D.C., but no match to them was found. The sketch was done by Bob Buras, a police detective in New Orleans. He was embalmed and kept in an Algiers funeral home for viewing. Despite national attention and over 300 parents calling the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office, he was never identified. On June 12, 1975, the search came to an end when his body began to decompose. He was buried in an unmarked grave at a cemetery in Gretna, Louisiana, by the Mothe Funeral Home. In the 1990s or 2000s, all of his case records were lost to a hurricane. As a result, the location of his body has been lost. 2000s Horror Movie - Kids, Traintracks, Dead baby?
Using this app to just find lost movies I watched as a kid that I don’t remember. This one could honestly be totally jumbled up in my head but It’s scarred me since I watched it when i was 4 so I feel like it HAS to exist. All I remember was traintracks, rural setting, with birds and two little kids (boy and girl). I don’t know what it was whatsoever, but there was some scary entity that preyed on them. I then remember a vivid scene of a baby being placed on a table and cloth and almost being cut in half, but it didn’t happen. I watched this so little with my dad on a random late night so I honestly could be going crazy, but I need to atleast find a movie that COULD be it. I’ve had no luck! I’m sure it’s from the 2000s/2010s. It could be earlier but it’s definitely made before 2011. submitted by /u/jbigcoppola to r/HorrorMovies [link] [comments]

My house is too small to be sane in (but my mortgage is amazing) [Concluded] [Slice of Life]
Reminder: I am not OOP. Do not comment on original post. ... Originally posted to r/homeowners by u/incywince 1 update - short read Original: Nov 25, 2025 Update: Dec 12, 2025 ... Editor's note: There was an edit at the top of the original post, I moved it to the bottom for readability Original - Nov 25, 2025 My husband and I found a house that was going for literal pennies in our VHCOL area at the beginning of the pandemic. Usually house flippers would have paid in cash for it, but thanks to the pandemic, liquidity was low, and we secured it. Our mortgage and tax are about a quarter of what our friends pay.... but also our entire house could fit in their living rooms. It's like 650 sqft. We've added additions to the front and back, and created a lot of storage space, but it's just still small. It was a fixer-upper, and we fixed it up. We mostly only did the very important stuff like rewiring, changing the plumbing and renovating the bathroom. We added an additional room and bathroom. We're fixing the aesthetics little by little. Soon after we bought the house, we had a tiny baby to also care for, so it was a certain kind of hell. Now the tiny baby is in school and I thought I could get around to making the place more inviting and relaxing. Visiting family for the holiday who have a more regular three-bedroom, I realize 90% of my frustrations are due to the small space. There's no separate playroom, so toys are just in the living room. Which ends up being always messy. And it's hard to tidy up because it's such a small space. I feel like I don't have enough closet space for clothes and other personal items. I have very limited space to exercise as well. I want another larder/cabinet in the kitchen, but we have no room for it. Our bathroom feels too narrow. I'd like a bigger bed, but our bedroom can't fit it. Part of the problem is the layout of the house. We've changed it some, but we really can't change the location of all the rooms unless we do a teardown. But another part of it is we just don't use space all that efficiently. I look at all those tiny home videos for what they get right, and they always seem to disappear their workstation which then turns into a bed or couch or whatever. But I can't do that, I need an ultrawide monitor to do my work. I've tried decluttering and throwing things away, but I actually like all my clothes and books. I'm not sure how to approach this anymore. I do like that it is cheap to heat and cool the house, and takes very little time to clean the floors. But I want my home to feel cosy and inviting and not like sarajevo in the '90s. I feel like I'm good with managing with what we have, but have you ever asked someone to help you decide what kind of furniture to buy or how to lay it all out? Comments Jadedslave124 Having lived tiny, 2 kids and me in 399 sq, and lived in a 3 bed home, my suggestion is to have rotating things. Yes you like your things. So curate and rotate them. I have 4 seasonal decor boxes, rotating books and pictures, and different linens. So when it’s winter, I get to put away all things not winter, bring out winter things, and see new stuff in my tiny rooms. Meanwhile, my basement and shed fill with the other 3 seasons of stuff. It helps my kids enjoy their adding a welcoming touch chores because what items they can choose from change. It helps me see clutter and realize I don’t like this as much as I thought and cull things over time. OOP We don't have seasonal decor, except a box of halloween costumes. I do try rotating summer/winter clothes and bedding. someone else suggested vaccum storage and I think that would help so much with this. I have no clue how to deal with the absolute state of toys. I dont know where the toys come from and my daughter loves and uses them all everyday, so I don't feel like throwing them out, but then it's messy..... I think that's the core of it. Jadedslave124 Just put half the toys in a box. And put the box outside. See if she asks where those toys are or just plays with what she found now. I’ve often had a cleaning fairy disappear toys left out overnight or overlong after mom said cleanup and put away. Those fairy toys don’t get put back for a week or so. Maybe there’s a fairy toys box that could help too ... OOP responding to a comment Yeah that's precisely our problem - too many toys with little parts. We're big lego nuts and our kid thrives with lego. She's a born builder and very imaginative and we like to nurture that. At least those are easy to put away. There are a lot of other little toys - dolls, doll accessories, tiny figurines. We told all our relatives and friends we don't want big toys (we once got a kids play tent that was almost as big as our small bedroom), so they give us little ones, and our imaginative child plays with all of them everyday. I throw away as many as I can, but more keep materializing. All together, they'll just fit in a small box. but they get fucking strewn everywhere, and it looks much messier when strewn because the space is small. And oh, the fucking art. Our kid is very talented with art, and everyone including her teachers are excited to encourage that. This means the living room is a mess. Art supplies, sculptures, pottery wheels... food colors... everything is fucking out all the goddamn time. I feel like with a bigger space, I could give her enough space to keep it contained, but we really can't right now. It's gotten much easier than before, I just thought it would be easier than it is now. ... More comments from OOP I mostly am looking for thoughts on how other people optimized their space. I feel like I've maxed out on stuff I got from the internet, like konmari, videos, minimalism, etc, and I'd like to hear more real stories of people with families and stuff. ... Edit to the main post: Edit: Thanks everyone for all your responses. In answering your comments, I've realized that my problem really isn't just the lack of space, but that my bedroom is too small and I do too much with it. We have enough space for everything, but for reasons, I insist on sharing a bed with our kid, working in the same room with an ultrawide monitor, exercising in breaks at work, and also storing all my clothes and hobby items right there. It wouldn't be that unreasonable if it was a larger room, but it's fkin 10x10 with a very tiny, oddly-shaped closet, and that comes with its challenges. Thanks to yall, I've decided to focus all my energies on bettering my bedroom situation. It would probably help me feel more sane ... Update: Dec 12, 2025 (2.5 weeks later) I'd posted here a couple of weeks ago about my frustrations with my very small house that has too many toys and clothes and is always a mess and gives me much less room than I'd like for my interests. I got a lot of useful responses from you guys. As I read through them, I realized most of the solutions didn't work for me. This helped me narrow my problem down into two things - I didn't like how hard it was to tidy up toys, and I was trying to do too much in my bedroom - cosleep, storage, work, hobbies. This seemed like a much more solvable problem than moving or constructing yet another extension, or teaching my kid to have a longer attention span than she does. I discussed this in detail with my family, who all have better spatial skills than I do. We went through many many many options, and eventually came to a very simple solution - a couple of taller storage shelves, and some rearranging of furniture to improve our layout. So now, we have more toy storage, and more clothes storage. It isn't that much more, but it's very strategic with how we use things and put them away. Basically we didn't have dedicated space to put away toys (i thought we did, but we really didn't) and they were all over the place. With dedicated space, it's much easier for my kid to put away her toys herself. We used to have this before, but she'd dump the contents on the floor and use the baskets to play. We've got storage that can't be used for anything other than storage, so that's great. Plus, I realized my kid did a lot of art on the floor, which meant lot of art lying around. I got her the same kids table they have in her school, and so she actually uses it now. It's reduced the mess by a 1000%. A lot of our solution really has been reorienting the furniture in the space. We haven't discarded much other than books and some cheap storage. But now our space feels more open and spacious. We've also gotten rid of opportunities to just keep things on a table or a chair, and instead are forced to put things away. And other useful suggestions we've incorporated have been using a drop-leaf dining table, and putting all our extra sheets and stuff in vacuum storage bags. We actually didn't have to discard much, which was another surprising thing. We generally don't accumulate or buy too much, so I was glad I didn't have to get rid of things I cared about to make room. I'm actually surprised so little has solved our problems significantly. I guess part of it is our kid is now old enough to be okay with these solutions, which she wasn't at an earlier age. I feel much lighter, the house is much calmer, and it feels like a refuge rather than chaos. Comments Eastern-Operation340 I lived in NYC for years. You learn how to live in a tiny space. until the 90s and 2000s most families lived in small homes. If you need more space in your Childs room, using boards and L brackets, you can build a shelf near the ceiling of her room. Choose the height of the window and door Frame for it to rest one. Looks cool wrapped around the room. She will use it through her teen years. Also, when she gets a bigger bed, raise it up and put bins underneath, or a loft bed with a desk or hang out space underneath. My brother built a great loft bed for his son underneath it's held up with shelving, an outlet with USB plugs, bean bag chairs and big pillows. Top of bunk bed has a shelf/cubby built into it. OOP Yeah, our idea is one of those loft beds with a desk underneath when she gets older. ... OOP on toy storage We got the ikea trofast. It hadn't worked previously because our daughter would dump the contents of the tubs and use it as a bathtub for her toys, put soap and water and all kinds of stuff in it, and it was a pain to put it all back. Or she'd use it to slide her toys across the kitchen. And for a while she was too little to pull the tubs out and I got pretty frustrated with it. The tubs also wore out and broke. But now we could get the tall version, which occupies very little square footage, and we got the mesh tubs which can't be filled with water or slid on. ... TheLastLibrarian1 As your child ages encourage her to pick up after herself. This helps a lot with the mess. We had decorative bins in our shelves that the kids could pull out and get their toys. Part of their bedtime routine was picking up their toys. They would chuck everything into the bin and it would slide into the shelf and look tidy and nice but not require a lot of effort. OOP Yeah, she does better now that things are better structured. Much easier when everything has a place where it feels like it belongs. Earlier we were all too overwhelmed by the mess to even start. I'm a 2000's baby, however, I love the 90's and one of the things I do is collect jeans, including vintage Levi's!
So I'm a big fan of the 90's, from the designs and patterns, to some of the innovations that happened including Windows 95 and the World Wide Web (WWW). One of the things I've been able to start getting into this year is collecting jeans, as I'm a denimhead. All I wear are jeans, and I also buy vintage jeans. So far, I only own vintage Levi's, however I'm hoping to expand that later on (I've already been looking). In the photo above, you can see I'm wearing light blue acid washed Levi's. Specifically, this pair was manufactured in 1990 and is a 550 (relaxed, tapered) cut and is orange tab! So now I'm wondering, do any of you 90's folk still have any of your old clothes (they may be worth a lot), or do you actively go out and buy 90's fashion or any vintage fashion for that matter to reconnect with yourself, or to connect with a different time? I look forward to seeing what you all say! submitted by /u/Necessary_Film_5199 to r/90s [link] [comments]

AITA for exposing my Hub's half-naked Abercrombie & Fitch job?
I think this is funny but I'm being called an A-hole. Parties are me (40F) my Hub (41M) and our son Marc (18M). And visiting friends. Marc is an all 'round good kid. Decent student, popular, and he is also strikingly handsome. He's a college freshman but he also models some which he has done for about three years. It's legit, he has an agency. Ok not Ford or Wilhelmina but what I'd call a legit "medium tier" agency, and he has done a fair bit of work and made some very decent money, which is helpful all around and we are grateful for that. A couple of days ago he visited bringing in a proof sheet (is that the term?) for a new magazine ad he is in for a fragrance. It was pretty... racy. Lets just say there was "an absence of being fully dressed" and some rather provocative posing with another model. Frankly I was fine with it, he's an adult, and we're talking GREAT exposure in a national magazine (not a huge one, but still). Hub, however, was not impressed. He acted like this was positively scandalous, and somewhat admonished Marc for even doing the photo shoot. We happened to have friends (another couple) visiting, Marc was embarrassed at the scolding. I basically called Hubs a hypocrite. I said "Yeah nothing like when we met and you were working at Abercrombie & Fitch." Backstory for those not old enough: In the early 2000's A&F hired buff young guys as "brand ambassadors" in their stores, their ENTIRE JOB was to stand around shirtless as greeters at the store doors. That was it. My Hub did that for two years when he was 18-19. His ENTIRE WORK UNIFORM was a pair of A&F jeans and flip flops. Oh, and A&F underwear if it happened to show. Hub did that for almost two years although apparently now thinks he's above it, and doesn't want anyone to know. After the scolding I of course was OBLIGATED to explain to our visitng frieds how his early career was to stand around half naked and look hot. Oh, and occassionally spray some cologne. Hopefully his spritzer finger didn't get too tired, poor baby. Hubs called me some unpleasant words. So, AITA for calling him out? He embarrassed my son, I felt he deserved it. Edited to fix a couple of crazy typos EDITED FOR MORE INFO. For those of you accusing me of stealing from my son (where the heck did that come from) we have never taken one penny from Marc. ALL of his money went into his own account. It was helpful because he was able to do things like buy himself a much much better car than we would have been able to, buy phones and electronics and such, buy more of the clothes he wanted, and use money for college. We even kept paying him an allowance. No thieves here. There was no full nudity in the cologne ad. How could there be? Yes, mostly undressed but nothing Xrated. Nothing wildly salacious, more like "implied." I would say "suggestive." It was racy but nothing you wouldn't see in any copy of Cosmo or GQ or such. Husband has actually joked many times about his days at A&F. I guess he just wasn't in the mood for it. He didn't scold Marc TOO hard, it was more like "Maybe one day you'll get a job where you can keep your clothes on," which prompted my A&F remark, since that was precisely what he was doing. submitted by /u/DonnaReed2025 to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

My teen is apparently secretly GenX
My 17 yr old and i had an overly hilarious meet up a few weeks ago. 🤣 her dad drove her to school in the morning, and i fetched her in the afternoon. so, i haven't really seen her the entire day. when i saw her... me: "you're wearing my shirt and my pants. the only thing that's yours is your underwear." she was wearing a Dexter's Lab boy's tshirt that I bought from a thrift shop when I was in college around 1996 or 1997, and really baggy linen pants purchased in the early 2000s whose elastic has been repaired multiple times. her eyes kinda widened. Horrified i think: omg. mother!!!! i'm so nineties! i hate you. LOOK!!! she pulls up her pants legs and shows me that she's wearing socks with her (fake) birks. LAUGH TRIP!! Oh to be that size again. Lol. I was pretty much the same size from college in the 1990s until i had the second baby in 2009. i just kept all my clothes in boxes and they were unearthed during the pandemic. my two teen girls are now wearing many of my college things. submitted by /u/kuritsakip to r/GenX [link] [comments]

[TOMT] [Clothing company] 2000s brand that put cute faces on all their designs
They had kinda simple, bold graphics like So So Happy or David & Goliath and most of their designs involved inanimate objects with cute little faces on them. I remember a hoodie with thunder clouds on it that looked upset, and baby clothes with angry stink bombs on it that said Lil' Stinker or something. submitted by /u/frenchmeister to r/tipofmytongue [link] [comments]

Help Me Find 90s Baby Clothes
Might be a long shot, but hoping someone recognizes any of these clothes! We moved a lot when I was little and unfortunately I don’t have any of my baby items. Figured I’d give it a shot here to see if any of these clothes can be found. This would be late 90s early 2000s if that helps! submitted by /u/FriendshipGlass8683 to r/HelpMeFind [link] [comments]

Since 2007, I thought she looked pretty dated here. The hair, make up and clothes all scream 2002. The necklace is the only mid 2000s thing here. Anyone else ever notice this?
“I’M TALKING ABOUT MOUNTAIN DEWS BABY” Highlights remained popular from the late 90s until the 2010s, but the prominent style with a red base looks very Y2K. The volume and cut of hair looks a little post 2000 however, like a staple of blonde Republican anchors until around 2008. The chunky necklace feels like the only trend that was en vogue in 2006. I feel like the black suit with colorful or patterned underpinning also feels very Y2K. It reminds me of that leopard print Ms Robinson (from The Graduate) late 60s style that came back. Fran Drescher on The Nanny might have worn something like this with animal prints. Maria in GTA 3 wears a similar leopard print outfit and Ashley Armbruster from Recess wears a black skirt suit with similarly pink under pinning in animated kid version of the anchors outfit above (sans necklace) submitted by /u/SluttyDreidel to r/2000sNostalgia [link] [comments]

Am I stuck in 2000?
I'm a millennial ok, 1985 baby here. I have a brunch and wine tour tomorrow but it's winter and it's going to be 14C so jeans and these fluffy lined over the knee boots are my preference. I like the stripey shirt and white bodysuit combo but it's feeling very 2000s. I'm very much an athleisure and black clothing girly (see last picture) so I'm trying to be more colourful, but it's cold AF. Does tucking the stripey shirt make it less millennial coded? submitted by /u/sopheecat to r/DressForYourBody [link] [comments]

Cracker barrel baby dolls early 2000s
I'm trying to find a specific doll I had, I've been scouring ebay and Google to no end. I remember going to cracker barrel and always getting one but I wanna find my favorite. They had been bodies and plastic heads, were no bigger than maybe 8 inches. They all had really pouty lips and wore "country/prairie" clothes, mine was a boy doll that had a red plaid shirt under blue overalls, can anyone help? submitted by /u/jaejaekae01 to r/HelpMeFind [link] [comments]

Mystery stains on baby clothes?
Lately, I’ve been noticing yellowish stains on a lot of my daughter’s clothes. She is not having solids yet, and she never has blow-outs. I have no idea what these stains are. They aren’t just on white clothes, either. They are on colored items as well. It doesn’t make sense. My partner washes the laundry, I fold it and put it away. 1 or 2 weeks ago I was folding all her baby clothes and grabbed a vintage yellow terry cloth footy pj that I got for her at a thrift store— covered In grey stains that were not there before. I mean completely covered head to toe, I wouldn’t consider it even wearable anymore. I was very upset because it was one of my favorite pieces ): she looked so cute in it! I wound up putting it on her Cabbage Patch doll and calling it a day, my partner said he had no idea what caused the stains. Now, I’ve been noticing yellow stains on her clothes. Not as all over as the ones on that onesie, but they’re on almost all her clothes, of all colors and materials. We use scent and dye free laundry soaps because my daughter has eczema, but we do just toss all the laundry in together. Has anyone else had this problem? I’m pretty frustrated because I want to save her clothes for any future siblings, and was even planning to save them for her if she ever wants kids. A good portion of her clothes are vintage, from the early 2000s and beyond. Basically all from thrift stores, but I was just hoping to keep them nice for further use ): Anyone else having this problem? What helped? Did you find the cause? I’m planning to tell my partner we need to start washing her clothes separately. submitted by /u/Idkmannnnnnnbye to r/beyondthebump [link] [comments]

My (34M) wife (31F) is having a meltdown over our daughter's personality and I don't know what to do. What should I do?
I am not OP. That is u/ThrowRAgirlcopdad who posted to r/relationship_advice TW: teen pregnancy, controlling behavior Original Post July 29th, 2024 I'm a 34 year old guy, and I have a 16 year old stepdaughter. My wife is 31. In highschool, my wife was a "popular girl" stereotype. Pink, blonde chunky highlights in her brown hair, this was the mid-late 2000s. She was on the cheerleading team, had lots of friends and boyfriends, was well known and liked. She was basically the living embodiment of the picture perfect girl from those cheesey 2000s highschool movies. And then she got pregnant. When she was 15, she had her daughter. She doesn't know who the father is, and any potential fathers for the girl up and left way back when. Her daughter is recently 16. I never wanted kids, I found them annoying. But I fell in love with my wife and got married when she was 20 and I was 23 after dating for 2 years. We hit it off, and I married her and decided to suck it up around the kid. I never planned to absolutely love being a dad to her specifically. Kids still annoy me, but my daughter (step daughter technically) was different. She was quiet, nerdy even at a young age. I married her mother when she was 5, and we clicked right away. We went on daddy-daughter dates every weekend. I played dolls with her. Let her paint my nails and do makeup on me. I drove her to and from school in my cop car. We even did daddy-daughter duo costumes for Halloween. Over the past two years she's developed a darker dress style. I don't know what the proper subculture of her outfits are, but according to her she's dressing like a horror game protagonist and a Monster High character. Purple is her main color she incorporates into this specific "aesthetic blend" as she calls it. I don't get it, but maybe that's because I'm a man in my 30s, I don't know. She likes ghosts, tarot cards, vampires, zombies, aliens, creepy victorian dolls. I don't get it, but also I don't care because if it makes her happy so what? She's also an introvert, and prefers to play games on her computer or read fantasy occult novels rather than hangout with other teens her age. She has friends, so I'm not too worried about her being completely withdrawn. I'm just glad I don't have to drive her around since she only has a learner's permit currently. My wife hates this. My wife always wanted a girly girl. Pinks and pastels and flowers and all that. She wants our daughter to get a boyfriend, be more social, be a cheerleader like she was. Which, in itself is valid. I get it, I'm sure most every parents has preferences for what they want their kid to turn out like, and some disappointment when they stray from that fantasy is valid. Some. My wife will constantly takes and hides my daughter's darker room decor. She constantly gets pastel dresses for our daughter, tells her to wipe off her dark eye makeup, tries to set her up on dates with jock types from my daughter's school, and convince her to sign up for both school and summer activities like cheerleading or volleyball. I could have put up with all of that, I really could have. But a few weeks ago I woke up to my wife finally hitting finally hitting her breaking point. I woke up in the middle of the night to my wife screaming and having what I can confidently describe as a borderline meltdown. She was crying and saying all she ever wanted was a normal daughter who likes pink, and is a cheerleader and has a boyfriend and will give her grandkids. I had to drag her out the hallway after 30 minutes of this. I kept thinking it would stop, but it kept going on and on. My daughter was just staring at this whole thing in the doorway of her room. What caused this meltdown from my wife? My daughter dyed purple over the blonde streaks/highlights my wife had forced her to get in her hair. Which wasn't even breaking a house rule, as my wife and I have both told her she can do whatever she wants with her hair as long as she doesn't stain too many towels. It's been weeks, and my daughter won't talk to her mom. My wife is still up with her antics, but now it's in overdrive. Everyday she brings home some type of trendy clothing in pink or pastels and tries to give it to my daughter. My daughter is getting fed up and stays in her room all day, and has confessed to me she can't wait for school to start back up in a few weeks so she can get out the house and be with her friends again. I don't know what to do. I feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. I don't want to "side" with anyone in this situation. I understand my wife wants a daughter who she can relate, and my daughter wants a mom who understands her. I don't know what I can or should do. I need help. I need advice. Added Comments for Context This comment concerning if his wife is living through her daughter OP My wife was a junior. She has a late birthday, and had always been a year younger than her classmates as a result. She got pregnant early in her junior year, and had the baby a few months before turning 16. She never went back to highschool even after having the baby. She was lucky and already had most of her credits finished anyways from taking advanced classes and ended up finishing highschool online. She's told me before that she could have graduated a year early had she wanted to, but that she was planning to stay her senior year and just take elective classes and focus on getting a cheer scholarship since all her main credits were to be filled. She wasn't allowed to do that for the online option. I don't know if this was a thing in her district or just a thing back then but if you were online and finished your required credits, unless you planned to try and go for an honor graduate path and take more non-elective/advanced core classes you basically had to graduate online or try and transfer back in school. She couldn't do that with the baby, so she was forced to miss out on going back to school for her senior year. At least that what she told me. This comment concerning setting up her daughter with jocks OP I never understood setting our daughter up with jocks. My daughter has told me about her type before while we were playfully teasing each other, and she said she likes nerdy guys. She also said that while the jocks guys are nice to her on the dates, she just isn't attracted to them. Update Aug 5th, 2024 It's been about a week since I last posted about how my wife was having a meltdown over how my daughter chose to dress. Two nights after I posted, I sat my wife down and very bluntly asked her what exactly the problem was. She kept saying she just wanted a daughter who was similar to her, but after I kept asking she broke down and admitted the real reason why she was having her meltdowns. My wife feels that her daughter is the only way for her to have more family in the future. She's estranged from her siblings, her parents don't speak much to her, and all of her friends from highschool stopped talking to her after her pregnancy. She wants a family back, and she's hoping that her daughter will marry a nice boy and give her grandkids so she can have a family again. She said she never brought up having more kids with me because she figured I'd be against the idea. I don't know how I feel about having more kids with my wife, but it certainly won't happen now. So my wife is in therapy to try and get her to realize that she can't just view my daughter as a way to create a family. She's doing well so far, but it's too soon to really tell. My daughter is also in therapy. She's been in therapy since she was a kid for bullying issues, but now her therapist is trying to focus on the meltdown situation with her. My daughter actually seems relatively unaffected by this whole situation other than a little annoyed, so I don't know if that's good or not. I took my daughter to Hot Topic for some back to school accessories and then took her out to eat, just the two of us. She's still excited to go back to school, she misses her friends and her clubs. My wife and daughter have started talking normally again. They had a long talk, which I was present for, where my wife apologized for being so pushy and extreme with her wishes. My daughter was well receptive to this talk and seems to be back to her normal self, I am keeping an eye on both of them to be sure. My wife is doing her best to understand my daughter's interests. Last I know the two were watching some slasher TV show on Hulu as a way to bond, and it appears to be working. There isn't any bad blood between the two. I know things are soon, and that things can change, but so far everything appears to be smoothing over pretty well. Thank you for all the advice, harsh and gentle, that I reviewed through my original post. It definitely slapped me in the face as what could happen if I didn't get both of them help and make them talk it out. **Added Comments for context* Commenter Do you not think that couples counselling would be a good idea, or are we just ignoring the huge elephant in the room? Your wife wants more kids. You’ve just said you definitely don’t, which is fine, and that’s going to cause resentment. If she is set on having more kids and you’re set on not having any then isn’t it cruel to stay married to each other? OP I'm not opposed to having kids a in a bit, just not now. I originally didn't want kids, but I love being a dad to my daughter and I know now that if more kids were to happen I'd also love being a dad to them. I just don't think it's a good idea to have kids now given that wife is working on herself in therapy. I'm not trying to rush things right now because we still have time to have kids. My mom had me at 37 so I know that we still have time to have kids if we decide on that. Commenter Why does your wife assume that just because your daughter dresses in the way that makes her happy and follows her interests that she won't ever have kids? What makes your wife assume only "I peaked in highschool" girls could have families? I'm glad she's in therapy and I hope the daughter only changes if she WANTS to change and not because her mom is a wacko. OP It confuses me too, because my daughter has said she wants kids in the future. We've had talks about her future before, and she has mentioned how she wants a good job so her and her kids can be rich. I know she's 16 and that she can still change her mind, but as of now she seems pretty sure of having kids in her adult years. I am not the original poster. EM and EGM tried to kill residents of group home
Reading the post about someone else's experience in a group home setting reminded me about this. It was a lot more traumatic than it sounds and I don't talk about it much. Sorry it got so long. TLDR is the title. Many years ago, I worked in a group home. For the privacy of all the residents, we had a set visitation room, with visitation hours by appointment only. Appointment only so that 2 families weren't trying to visit at the same time. It had a separate entrance, and a door that shut it off from the rest of the house. It had a half bath, a TV, cable hook up, game console (maybe 50 games), DVD player (and about 150 movies), board and card games, along with nice comfy seating and a small 4 person table. Visitors were not allowed anywhere but that room if any of the other residents were home. It didn't matter if Bill wanted to show off his new bedding set or if Jack's mom wanted to see if he needed new clothes. If the other residents were home, no. The families of 5 of the residents were fine with it. Kyle's mother and grandmother were not. They firmly believed they were within their rights to enter the rest of the house and inspect it and his housemates. He was their baby and they had rights by God! Actually no. The residents of this home were 30-40 year old men with developmental and physical disabilities. They were all actually wards of the state. The fact they were even allowed to know where he was, let alone visit, was a huge privilege. Our agency had many other homes where the families of the residents had no idea where they were and weren't allowed to see them. The families were only allowed to contact the case manager and inquire about them. Back to Kyle's mom and grandma. It was a constant battle to keep them out of the rest of the house. It got to the point that we had to have an extra staff member during their visits. They had to sit outside the connection door while the visits were going on and physically stand blocking their way when they would attempt to enter. I lost track of how many times we ended up calling the police to have them removed from the main part of the house before that happened. That's when they started calling the police on us. After the 3rd time of them calling the police to demand entrance to the rest of the house, they lost their privilege of visiting. Kyle was moved to another home where they weren't allowed to know the address. This didn't go over well, to put it nicely. They were adamant Kyle was still in our home and they threatened us several times that we would pay for keeping their baby from them. A restraining order was granted against them, keeping them 800 feet from the house, staff, residents and no calls to the house. It all came to a head one night when at dark-thirty, I was locking up the house for the night (all doors and windows had to be checked and the alarm set.) Another staff was doing bedtime medicine. The other 2 were helping out with bedtime routines and getting laundry going. I kept telling the other staff I smelled smoke, like a campfire. Just faint whiffs of it. They said I was crazy. I had just walked the entire house and nothing was burning. It must be a neighbor having a small backyard fire or something and I got a whiff while closing the windows and it was stuck in my nose. It finally was strong enough for the others to smell. In pairs, we checked the house again. Nothing but the smell is getting stronger. We met back in the living room and decided to go ahead and call the fire department when we realized we could see wisps of smoke in the living room. We woke the residents and had them put on shoes and jackets. The smoke in the living room was now clearly visible and starting to make it's way towards the bedrooms and it triggered the alarms (FINALLY!) Protocol was to evacuate and get the residents to the van. The living room was the exact center of the house with an open floor plan with the kitchen one side and a laundry room on the other. The bedrooms were through the living room and to the left and right along with the 2 bathrooms, the visitors room and our office being at opposite ends of each other. Down the hall we shuffled to our office because the van was parked to that side and the keys in the office. As we came around the corner of the house, we see the source of the smoke. Our front porch was on fire. The house was brick which is what was preventing it from spreading outward but it was spreading upward towards the roof. The police and fire departments arrived just as we reached the van. Fire department went to work on the house, police head towards us. We're all fine, except 4 people came running up to us. Kyle's mother and grandmother, along with 2 unknown men. The 2 women started screaming for Kyle and they were here to rescue him, we had endangered him by allowing him to live in a fire trap. They suddenly realized there was no Kyle in the group and were now screaming that we had left him to burn in that house, they were suing us, they would shut us down and have us in prison for murder. The police quickly asked if we had left someone behind to which we answered no, we have all 6 men but for their safety we had to get them in the van and then we would sort this out. The police held Mother and Grandmother back from us, while they continued to shriek about Kyle and we had left him to die. 2 of the staff loaded them while me and my coworker talked to the police, starting with the fact those 2 women had a restraining order and for his safety and ours, Kyle had been moved to a location unknown to them. They were cuffed immediately and told to pipe down. We proceeded to explain what had transpired that evening. The fire was doused quickly while we did this. One of the firemen came over to talk to the officers and we heard him say there was preliminary evidence this fire was set deliberately. There would be a formal investigation. Kyle's mother and grandmother were arrested for violating the restraining order and suspicion of arson. The 2 men were arrested on suspicion of arson also. Results of the investigation determined clear case of arson. There was also a deliberate rigging of a device to the door leading out of the visitation room that would have been fatal to the person opening the door and if anyone was close by, debilitating, if not fatal. The 4 were indicted on vandalism, arson, 8 counts of attempted homicide, 2 counts attempted murder. It came out they were unaware of the other side door, which saved lives. They got a plea deal and got 7-10 years each. This was back in early 2000s so I don't remember what exactly the sentence was. submitted by /u/brandyaidenluv to r/entitledparents [link] [comments]

I had a son when I was 14 and none of my family knows besides my aunt
I was raped by a family member until I was 13 and moved in with my aunt. She's a good person that took me in and helped me get away from the bad people in my family. When we found out I was pregnant, she guessed how it happened. I hadn't told her about what had happened but she said she always expected it but never had proof. She came up with a way to get me away. She pretended to get pregnant and asked my parents if she could get custody so I could move in with her, get homeschooled, and help her out. They said no at first because they knew they'd lose out on food stamps, so she offered to pay them whatever they would've gotten in food stamps in cash in exchange for me living there. They said yeah once they found out cash was involved and my aunt gave them some extra cash every month to keep them out of our lives. My parents are your regular redneck junkies who are no good to anyone. I had the kid in 1988 and have seen my parents a handful of times since then. She went to court to get custody of me and said my parents dropped me off at her house one day and never picked me up. I went along with that story in court and it worked out. I said we went back to my house day after day but they were never home. They were ordered to come to court but never showed up. She got full custody of me and I lived with her until I was able to get myself a good job. I don't work the best job in the world, but it's better than where I came from and I'm proud of that. Anywho, she took me to get an abortion, but it was too late by our state's laws. She pretended to be pregnant, even tried to gain weight, and bought clothes that made her look bigger. I stayed home every day until I had the baby. Everyone thinks it's her kid. I don't feel bad about it and won't ever tell the kid unless my aunt wants to or some big emergency happens where he needs a body part. She always said it's my choice to tell, but I think it's her choice too. She raised him, he calls her mama, and I wouldn't want to take that away from them. He doesn't look like me at all. He doesn't really look like my aunt either. He thinks his daddy is some guy she met at a bar she had a one night stand with and she doesn't know who he was. He's an adult now and is settling down with his wife and they're thinking about having kids. It's sometimes weird because I know if they do they'll be my grandkids but they'll never know. I don't feel like a parent to him at all. I know he's my biological kid, but I'm not his mama. Every now and then it makes me sad, but I know it was the right decision to make. He's had a good life. My aunt and I saved up to make sure he could get a good education, and he did that. He knows me as his older cousin and we get along well. He's a good guy. Hardworking, a good person, does what he can to help others. I'm proud of him. Here are answers to questions people have. The person that raped me is in jail for the rest of his life. He was arrested for something unrelated to what he did to me, but he won't be out of jail until he's in his 90s. I doubt he'll live that long. My aunt tried for years to get me to admit what was going on. She tried very hard. Anytime she saw me she asked if I was okay. She tried to get custody of me when I was a kid but it didn't work out. My parents acted like decent people and I denied anything was going out because of fear. Don't assume she could have done more. She did everything she possibly could, but I was too afraid to speak up. I know DNA tests exist. I don't know if he'll get one done but we'll talk about what to do if he ever does. It's complicated and I don't have the answers for what to do and neither do you. Everyone has their own opinions none are right or wrong. Good intentions aren't always good advice. My parents are both alive as far as I know. I don't speak to them at all and haven't seen them since the early 2000s. I don't care to reconnect with them. The way I look at it, my aunt is the only mama I ever had and I don't need to worry about someone who gave me up for drug money. We went to a hospital outside of town to avoid seeing anyone we knew. Growing up everyone thought I was a shy kid. I was a big reader and spent most of my time inside anyway. No one thought it was weird that I was inside a lot. My aunt had a good job that let her stay at home and work once she started complaining about having to come in while pregnant. That helped us out a lot. Back then, you could call a store to fill in your grocery order and the grocery boy would drop them off, similar to have stores have deliveries you can order online now. My water broke in the middle of the night. We were lucky with that as our neighbors never saw us leave. No, I never went to college. When I was a kid I never thought I'd even graduate high school, but I did. I won't tell you what I do for a living or where I work. That's a strange thing to message someone. Regardless I make enough to pay my bills and have a little savings. I used to work three jobs to make sure I could pay for his college once the time came. Now I only work one. I don't like what I do but I work hard and I'm proud of that. Yes I know my English isn't perfect. I type like how I talk and I don't care if you think that's bad. Calling yourself a grammar nazi is a weird way to identify. I wouldn't want to be called a nazi about anything nor would I be proud of that, but I guess you can live your best life and I pray you stop sending rude messages to people. I don't care about your opinions on abortion or if you think I'm a bad person for considering it. I was barely a teenager and it would have been the best choice for me. No, I don't regret having the child now, but I wish I didn't destroy my body in the process. I can't have kids now because of the damage that pregnancy caused my body. A few disgusting people have messaged me that this was sexy, that I deserved it, or asked for details. I don't know what the hell is wrong with you but from the bottom of my heart I hope you die. The world doesn't need more sick fucks like you. Yes, I know my aunt is a great person. She's the best person I have ever known. Not just because she helped me. I think she would've done the same thing for anyone. She's an angel. submitted by /u/Necessary_World_2081 to r/confessions [link] [comments]
