Attempted my first chrome and 3D gel set
As stated above this is my first time using chrome and I used a hard gel to 3D some shapes to chrome. I had some issues and wondering how to trouble shoot. The chrome did not come out solid. No matter how much I would pick up and go over it seemed to just make it worse. Shapes with hard gel came out chunky. I’m guessing this is because the application brush I used was too big. If you have suggestions for particular brushes I’m all ears. If it’s something else also all ears. When caroming the 3D designs the chrome went everywhere including the nail itself. I thought I was pretty light with my application but maybe not? I was using an eyeshadow brush sponge for an applicator (came with the chrome). This is a beginner chrome kit so I’m not sure if the powder makes a big difference (could also make a difference with 1). submitted by /u/Lacoqui to r/DIYnails [link] [comments]

do any other nail techs hate doing 3d flowers? 😭
don’t get me wrong they’re cute, but a pain to do 😭! rolling each equally sized ball, molding them, gel polishing them, top coating them! idk and they’re so repetitive for me 🥲 personally i loveeee doing 3d acrylic flowers but when it comes to the molding gel flowers, i dread doing them submitted by /u/droonies to r/Nails [link] [comments]

Help me figure out the 3D sculpting gel and how to make it neater
For a self-taught nail artist, and for only having done 10 or less sets with tips attached, I'd say I'm doing okay. I started my gel nail journey about 3 months ago. #nails #gelx #xxlnailinspo #cateye #cateyenails submitted by /u/Easy-Bad6416 to r/Nails [link] [comments]

Gel vs Regular Nail Polish?
Hello, this is my first post! I recently asked a question about a gel lamp on another subreddit because I've been into doing gel lately. I've only done 3, but realized that Amazon quality gel polishes are dangerous in regards to gel allergies. I've spent 2 full days googling, reading, researching, etc. I'm trying to find the best products to safely create gel manicures, or sets of fake nails (press ons that I make custom). But my issue which I've realized is this- gel will never be safe. I feel like even if I'm using gel to make press on sets that are fully cured (and I wear gloves during) so that I get no gel on my actual skin, I'm still at risk if I wear the fake nails. All I want to do is use normal nail glue (not gel glue) to put on the custom gel polish press ons I make. But that doesn't seem safe. Basically my question is this- can I do what I want to do with regular polish? I'm afraid it won't dry or will get damaged easier than gel (I work in an environment where my hands sometimes spend 7-8 hours doing dishes, mostly uncovered if we don't have dishwashing gloves available). That's why I do gel. But if I can use regular polish to make fun designs, and do them on either my natural nails or press ons that I customize, I'd gladly switch. I know in the long run it's safer and more affordable most likely. I'm just not sure it'll last or work the way a gel one would. But I don't want a gel allergy. Also, as a final note, I'm hoping someday I can sell press ons that I customize for people. Is that even possible unless it's gel polish? And if it isn't and I have to use gel to make press ons that I customize and sell, and I wear gloves and avoid skin contact with gel product, am I still at risk for an allergy? Just an anxious person here trying their best. I'm grateful to anyone who has any advice on any of this! submitted by

New at Gel Nails, advice?
Hey all! I've only just starting doing my own nails I cannot justify spending $100 for shit nails anymore, so I'll do my own shitty nails haha I only do a few nails at a time so I don't waste product, I've lurked here for a little bit just reading people's comments on application, nail brands, all that but I'm still having trouble with a few things I understand if you get gel on your skin, wipe it off straight away, and how to fit the tip to your nail properly.. The thing I'm struggling with is the bottom of the nail (near cuticle) I feel like I apply too much polish? And it's soooo flipping bumpy and not smooth, on the right side of my thumb the edge is... Not cute idk The design is a 3D sticker so Its going to be a little bumpy there I get that. I used Beetles nail glue and polish.. I bought their kit on Amazon, I know it's not the best but for now until I can afford to upgrade a bit it's all I can work with I'm happy for any CC, tips, trick, advice and if there's any YT channels you can recommend too! Don't judge my naked nails, I have anxiety and they get attacked, nails helps me avoid trying to eat my fingers submitted by /u/Individual-Taro-8315 to r/GelX_Nails [link] [comments]

Nail polish tracker 3D printing files: 3-9 spots per month, border or no border!
3D printing files have been uploaded to maker world! 2026 Nail polish tracker - Free 3D Print Model - MakerWorld Files currently available anywhere from 3 to 9 swatch spots per month, and with borders or no border A few things you may want to know: I print the swatch cylinders in white (PLA), clear would be fine but will need more polish layers to be opaque The "swatch painting holder" is what I stick the swatches in to be able to hold them and paint them more easily. I like how it looks to paint the sides as well as the top. Then I remove them when they are dry and stick them into the board. You should print only a cylinder or two to start so you can adjust the size before you print a bunch! I intended to design this so the swatches would snap into the board and wouldn't fall out. Last year some of my swatches were too small, so I just used super glue or a dab of topcoat in the bottom of the hole to secure those. The swatch file I uploaded is a tiny bit bigger than the one I printed last year, but I expect they will turn out slightly differently for everyone! How they fit may also depend on which side of the swatch you plan to paint - I painted the top, and the bottom often had a little lip that helped them stay in. If you want the swatch to be even height with the borders/text, don't adjust the height dimension. If a swatch is stuck in the board that I want removed, I just use a wire cutter or something similar to pull it out (something sharp will crush and grab on to it easier so you can pull it out) Speaking of which side you paint on, u/shayter had the idea to sand them or apply a builder gel layer if you prefer a smoother surface! I printed the new 6 spots with borders using transparent PETG base and transparent blue PETG letters, it printed well but the letters didn't have as much contrast as I wanted! I tried painting the letters with nail polish to make them pop a little more! All that is to say, it's definitely an option to print the text and borders in white and then paint them :) In 2025 I printed my base in clear PETG and the borders/text in PLA without changing print settings between (edit: thanks to the folks in the comments who told me PETG and PLA don't work well together!). Eventually the borders started to delaminate from the base, but none of the text delaminated. So, I'm not sure if the delam was due to the settings/materials or the how thin the borders were. I made the borders thicker on the 2026 design (1 mm increased to 1.5 mm) I've included a "no swatch cylinder" which is what I put in the board when I had empty spaces. Or, whatever size you end up printing your swatches, just decrease their height by 2 mm for the no-swatch version. I think that's all you need to know, I hope it works for you!!! I'm happy to answer questions and make changes if there are any issues or if someone needs even more spots ;) submitted by /u/greatblueheron_ to r/RedditLaqueristas [link] [comments]

Would a layer of gel top coat affect the 3D texture of these stickers a lot?
I really prefer to use a top coat over stickers, but these have a 3D texture, which makes them look cool, so I don't want to lose that. But I feel like even a thin layer of top coat might still mess it up. I've mostly used stickers that need extra nail glue to even stick to the nail, so I'm a bit wary about not sealing them in. submitted by /u/shesjustalittleweird to r/NailArt [link] [comments]

Where to find nail art designs that are possible with LAQUER? Everything on Pinterest seems to only be possible with Gel and Acrylic :(
Please drop useful search terms (nail art designs for regular polish/laquer isn't working so well for me), YouTubers, Instagram pages, websites, etc for fun nail art designs that can be done with regular laquer. When I search for this I find a lot of gel specific designs...you know what I mean? Some things just can't be done at home with laquer as easily. Like 3D gel and charms, those ombre magnetic tips, and chrome...but please correct me if I'm wrong cause if those things are possible to do with laquer I'd LOVE to know how cause they're so cute! submitted by /u/kaythethrowaway to r/RedditLaqueristas [link] [comments]

mango nails using 3d builder gel 🥭
Here are all the techniques I did to make these juicy guys: • airbrush to create the gradient colors using orange, scarlet, and a lime green (you get to determine how ripe you want them!) • clear rhinestone gel for the water droplets • sliced 3d structure gel to give a cut mango effect (used e-file to clean and tidy up the lines) • sculpted 3d structure gel to create the leaves • painted the white netting with white gel and sprinkled acrylic powder on top to give more dimension and texture (after topcoat) submitted by /u/anncakez to r/Nails [link] [comments]

I’m back again! This time with a crazy 3D Easter nail set!
Hi everyone! You may have seen my other 3D sets - the Valentine’s nails and the Mini Nail Tech nails - well, this time it’s Easter! This set took around a week to make, made using both 3D Sculpting Gel and Fimo Clay. Obviously this isn’t a wearable set, this is just for art and content purposes. But I’d love it if you could let me know how I did! Do you like them? The bunny is my favourite 🥹 Let me know what crazy 3D nails I should do next! submitted by /u/itsleiaxo to r/Nails [link] [comments]
