Got Pre-Approved for Chase Sapphire Preferred: Is it worth it?
Hello! As the title says, I got pre-approved and was wondering if this is a good card for me. I currently have 5 credit cards, the Chase Freedom, Capital One Savor, Discover It, and 2 other credit cards for home related things. To be transparent, I’m about to graduate college and will still live with parents after graduation. I do plan on applying to higher education later this year and also having a full time job for a year. I don’t make big money transactions often but know, as time goes on, that will change. Would it be a good idea to get the CSP now (with the current bonus offer) and use it build up my credit more? Annual fees are something I usually stay away from but want to know if the benefits from this card balance it out. submitted by /u/AdEffective2974 to r/CreditCards [link] [comments]

The Sapphire Preferred is on the chopping block too.
I see a lot of people getting rid of their CSRs, and as you should, it’s not a good card. But let me tell you, the Preferred is on the way out too. For 95 dollars this year, I got DoorDash which is a joke, a 50 dollar hotel credit which is also a joke, and my Chase Points are about to take the biggest downfall yet with the Hyatt deval. Believe me, the Preferred refresh is coming sooner than you think because this card no longer serves any real purpose. Edit: oh and I forgot that Publix got rid of the App payment so the 3x on online grocery is gone for that store. What a terrible year for the Preferred. submitted by /u/PussyLunch to r/ChaseSapphire [link] [comments]

I am thinking about opening up another credit card to help build my credit further. I only have the Costco Visa at the moment because of the 5% cash back on gas and 3% on dining. Should I keep the Chase Sapphire Preferred?
Hi - trying to figure out if I should keep my CSP for another year (signed up last year for the 100k SUB) or switch to something else. I just upgraded my old Bilt card into the Palladium so my current setup is: CSP for 3x on dining Palladium for literally everything else Dining is by far my largest expense after rent, and really, I should be using the Palladium for that too, since it is effectively a 3.25x on everything as long as I'm spending less than 75% of my monthly rent (which is typical given I live in NYC...) I was thinking of switching to an Amex Gold for 4x dining/groceries and then keeping the Palladium for everything else. The benefits I can think of for sticking to the CSP are: Lower AF Avoids orphaning my Chase points But not much else. Am I missing something? Or alternatively, is there a better card to complement my Palladium? submitted by /u/permateal to r/CreditCards [link] [comments]

Chase Sapphire x WHOOP: a few things worth knowing before you activate
Saw the new WHOOP offer drop for Sapphire cardholders today and went down the rabbit hole. Figured I'd share what I found since there are some gotchas that aren't obvious. Reserve gets $359 back on the WHOOP Life annual plan, so basically a free year. Preferred gets $100 back on any annual plan (cheapest is $149/yr, so you're looking at $49 out of pocket minimum). The big one: you have to activate the offer in Chase Offers before you purchase. No activation, no credit. Has to be directly on whoop.com, no third-party checkout or BNPL, US only. One thing I noticed in the fine print... it says "spend $359 or more, including taxes and after discounts." So if you stack a promo code and your total drops below $359, the credit might not go through. Saw someone on Reddit already run into this. Don't get clever at checkout. If you're already a WHOOP member you can still use it at renewal or gift someone an annual plan. If you're on a Peak trial, you can upgrade to Life in the app (More → My Account → Membership & Billing → Upgrade). Apparently your remaining Peak months convert to Life at a 3:2 ratio and the new 12 months add on after that. Worth noting the band comes free with any membership but it's basically a paperweight without an active subscription. This is a one-time benefit so set a reminder to cancel before renewal if you're just trying it out. Expires May 12, 2026. Anyone already pull the trigger on this? submitted by /u/LibrarianOk1263 to r/CreditCards [link] [comments]

Chase Sapphire Preferred Worth It?
I currently have five Credit Cards - Discover It (mainly used for featured quarterly category) - Apple Card (use for Apple Pay if other cards can’t beat it, plus 3% at Walgreens, Nike, Apple, etc, and have the HYSA) - Costco Anywhere Visa (Costco purchases, gas, sometimes dining) - Capital One Savor (subscriptions for streaming services, sometimes dining, entertainment, groceries) - Southwest Priority (southwest flights, sometimes dining) The main reason why I’d like to get the Sapphire Preferred in the next year is to transfer Chase points into Southwest Rapid Rewards points. The hotel credit is also nice, but I rarely need hotels because when I fly, it’s to someone’s house. Do you think this card would be a good addition? I know the Savor and Preferred cards have a lot of overlapped categories. submitted by /u/WCKDend to r/CreditCards [link] [comments]

Chase Sapphire Reserve Approval and New Rules for Bonus Eligibility (January 22, 2026)
Chase Sapphire bonus eligibility changes: What to know - The Points Guy "Starting January 22, you'll be able to earn one bonus per Sapphire card, as long as you've never earned a bonus on that card previously — whether or not you currently hold a Sapphire card in your wallet. So, if you currently hold the Chase Sapphire Preferred and earned the bonus on it, you can now add the Chase Sapphire Reserve and earn its bonus as well — as long as you haven't previously earned the bonus on the Sapphire Reserve." TPG stated that the new rules for Sapphire cards went into effect as of today 01/22/2026 (although, I've seen other posts mentioning 01/25/2026 as the date), so I decided to take my shot with applying for a CSR this morning (without downgrading my CSP). I've had a CSP since early/mid-2022; however, I have never had a CSR. I removed my security freezes at all three bureaus and applied for/was approved for a CSR with a $30K credit limit ($155K Income, 790-800 credit scores) without any pop-up disclosure regarding being ineligible for the 125K SUB (I did try to see if I was eligible for the 175K SUB, but no go). I called the Sapphire Reserve line and they're expediting my card to me for free for delivery in 1-2d. Additionally, for what it's worth, this new credit line pushes me over the normal 50% exposure threshold at Chase to ~60% ($92.6K total limits - $31.8K CSP, $30K CSR, $18.8K Amazon Prime, and, $12K CFU). Chase is my primary bank (Sapphire Checking), and I do have my entire investment portfolio at JPM, so maybe that’s why they allowed this versus reallocating my existing credit limits. Anyways, I'm happy it went through and I'm excited for the card! UPDATE (01/23/26): Bonus tracker for 125K points after spending $6K/3mo is live on my account. UPDATE (01/22/26 4:30PM PT): It seems the 175K offer I mentioned above (it was an ad banner on the Chase Credit Cards home page) is no longer available. I've tried looking on my various devices with private browser windows and it's gone. submitted by /u/AceMaxAceMax to r/CreditCards [link] [comments]

Approved for 11k Chase Sapphire Preferred after charge off with chase
I can't even believe it. I had a charged off account with chase for over 5k a few years ago that I recently paid off in full. I then opened a checking account with chase because I heard that's a way to potentially get around the blacklist. I put 1500 in the account, just enough to avoid the monthly fee and let it sit. About 2 months later I got the pre approval for every card pop up on the offers section. So I applied, got a 7-10 day review message, called the recon line and she just verified it was me who applied and instantly approved for 11k! I'm honestly shook as my highest limit right now is only 1k lol. Plus the 7 charge offs on my credit report (one of which is the 5k from chase) but all of them are paid, settled for less except chase which I PIF. Just thought I would share for anyone wondering if it's possible to get back in with chase and how I did it. Credit score was 712 fico 8 from experian at time of applying. submitted by /u/moneymarkmoney to r/CRedit [link] [comments]

Chase Sapphire Reserve Benefits Checklist 2025
I gave it my best try but the revised Chase Sapphire Reserve Card doesn't work for me. I wish the banks would just stick to travel related credits, like they had in the early years. All the other mumbo jumbo is useless and doesn't help justify the credit card to me. There's a couple of credits on the new CSR that I could force myself to use but I prefer simplicity. These luxury travel cards are suppose to give you peace of mind, not cause you to do mental gymnastics, so you can manipulate yourself into thinking that you are getting your money's worth. Ironically, I have the Amex Platinum Card and it's working just fine for me, once I focused on the benefits that I can use without changing my lifestyle and ignored the rest of the noise; so I hope Amex doesn't destroy the Amex Platinum Card during this year's revision. Just because the marketing material says you can get $1,500 or $2,700 worth of value doesn't mean you have to force yourself to obtain that. You only need enough to naturally cover the annual fee. submitted by /u/RedditReader428 to r/ChaseSapphire [link] [comments]

New changes to Sapphire Preferred
Well, Chase has now officially downgraded the value of Ultimate Rewards points that are redeemed for travel through the Chase Travel portal. The 1.25 redemption value will be gone starting in October. I received an email from Chase this morning that introduces a new perk called “Points Boost”. Points Boost allows UR points to be redeemed at 1.5x at certain hotels and flights. It’s unclear how many hotels and flights will be eligible, so there’s no way to fully measure the value of the new perk. But the email includes this text: “starting October 26, 2025, all new points earned can be redeemed at a 1:1 rate on Chase Travel (replacing 1.25x on all Chase Travel purchases).” Sounds to me like a massive downgrade. Am I being too pessimistic? submitted by /u/renoCow to r/CreditCards [link] [comments]

Chase Sapphire Reserve Multipliers Leaked
Looks like from the Chase website that the point multipliers from the rumors are confirmed to be: 8x points for travel booked through Chase Travel 4x points on flights and hotels booked direct 3x points on dining 1x points on all other eligible purchases Props to u/fk_the_braves (goated name) for mentioning this on r/ChaseSapphire Edit — feel free to reference this comment on how the changes now compare to current earning rates. 100K Sapphire Preferred Offer Is Incredible—But Let’s Be Realistic
The 100K Chase Sapphire Preferred bonus is a fantastic deal—one of the best we’ve seen in years. But as excited as I am, I’ve been seeing a flood of posts from people who probably shouldn’t be getting this card. If you’re a responsible spender who can organically hit $5K in 90 days without stretching your budget, this is an amazing opportunity. But if you’re making $25K, living paycheck to paycheck, or thinking about “manufacturing” spend just to get the bonus, you’re playing right into the banks’ hands. They want you to carry a balance. That’s how they make money. I’m not here to tell anyone how to live their life, but the comments should be honest: this isn’t free money if you’re not financially stable. Credit cards are tools—you either leverage them to your advantage or they leverage you. submitted by /u/Masterchief10000 to r/ChaseSapphire [link] [comments]

DoC: [Rumor] Chase Sapphire Preferred 100,000 Point Offer In Branch Starts 3/23/25
Update: 3/26/25: DoC: Chase matching the 100k bonus We’ve already seen a report of Chase being willing to match the 100,000 Sapphire Preferred signup offer. The report indicates they are matching signups since March 13th. (Apparently, though it’s only available for now in branches, they are already matching the offer if you signed up recently.) Multiple reports in the comments here confirm that Chase is matching the 100k Sapphire Preferred bonus. Update 3/19/25: We’ve been able to confirm that the branch offer is coming on March 23rd, per memo sent to Chase bankers. More importantly, a Reddit report indicates that it’ll become available to Chase affiliates on April 3rd for online applications. We don’t know if the offer will ever appear on referral links. Per the article: According to a source on reddit who has provided reliable information in the past Chase will launch a Chase Sapphire Preferred 100,000 point bonus in branch starting March 23, 2025. The minimum spend requirement will be $5,000 within three months of account opening. Hopefully, it will trickle down to referrals and online for those who aren’t close to a branch (i.e., Hawaii). ETA: Two rules to be eligible for the Sapphire bonus: 1) Can’t currently hold a Sapphire. So if you have the no-AF Sapphire, CSP, or CSR- PC to any no-AF Freedoms card (i.e., OG Freedom, CFF, CFU), wait 4 days, and then try apply. 2) It has been 48 months since your last Sapphire bonus has posted, and not since you got approved for a Sapphire card. Easiest way is to SM Chase to inquire or look at your statements to find the exact date. submitted by /u/madskilzz3 to r/CreditCards [link] [comments]

Chase Sapphire Preferred credit card has a great delayed flight policy
My bf and I are missing our connecting flight because of weather delays. American Airlines won't cover a hotel (weather is not a covered as a reason for delay hotel comp) but my Chase Sapphire Preferred cc covers up to $500 for costs incurred. Weather as a reason for delay is covered. It can go towards lodging, food, and personal items you might need to buy (toiletries, ect). We both have this cc and used our points for the original flight, so that's $500 each! Now we have a free night at a great hotel in Chicago! :) UPDATE: First- No, I don't work for Chase, or any other financial institution. I'm just a happy customer that wanted to share some perks for having this card. We didn't even realize it was covered until we called Chase and they told us while we were at the airport. We are frequent travelers and use this card for everything, the points have been completely worth it for us. The actual trip: so we booked our hotel in Chicago for the night since we expected to have an overnight delay based on what AA had told us. After 7+ hours of waiting to get on the plane they eventually cancelled the flight to Chicago completely since the crew that was going to fly us out were over their hours. We were trying to get to a wedding as a final destination, and AA couldn't get us there until the next day, evening. We cancelled completely since we'd miss the wedding and would have to get right back on a plane and come home that next morning. We did discuss in length (and read since we had plenty of time at the airport) all the fine print about the delayed flight benefit and know our hotel, ect would have been covered. There was a good amount of paperwork (they email you the form with all the information) and wait time for the reimbursement but that's not an issue for us. Unfortunately I can't update on going through the actual process since our trip was cancelled completely. We were refunded everything (airfare, hotels), CSP cancelled the flight and requested the refund from AA since I had originally booked the flight through them. We were bummed to miss the wedding and were actually excited for the free night in Chicago but I'm glad we were able to get everything refunded to us via money or points (depending how you bought it, it comes back the same way). Glad to hear CSP has worked out for so many people! :) submitted by /u/vtapitytaptapp to r/personalfinance [link] [comments]
