How to decide which businesses to outreach for Local SEO Services?
Like, I am working as a freelancer and want to reach out the businesses in my city , offering them my Local SEO Optimization Services. I can't decide which business to target. Is a $400/month SEO service actually worth it for a small local business?
I run a small landscaping company and I’ve been struggling to get consistent leads from Google. I tried doing SEO myself for almost a year but saw almost no improvement. Other small business owners, have you tried a monthly SEO service in the $300–$500 range? Did you get a good return on investment? How long did it take before you noticed real results? submitted by /u/LotsoSmellsBad to r/localseo [link] [comments]

What is a local SEO tactic that compounds over time?
I’m aware of the one-time local SEO basics- things like improving site speed, setting up and optimizing your Google Business Profile, adding citations, etc. Those are important, but they feel more like table stakes at this point. You do them once (or occasionally update), and that’s it. What I’m more interested in are the local SEO tactics that actually compound over time- the ones where effort today keeps paying off months later. So experts here, curious, what is a local SEO tactic that compounds over time? submitted by /u/Vivid-Aide158 to r/localseo [link] [comments]

Is local SEO becoming the only way for small businesses to survive?
I’ve been looking at the search results for my service area lately and it’s getting crowded. It feels like the big national brands and those massive directory sites have totally taken over the general keywords, and the only place a small company can actually win is in the local map pack. I’ve been trying to focus more on my Google Business Profile for my security guard company, but I’m curious if anyone else is seeing a drop in traditional organic traffic? I actually started using marketing 1on1 because they have a specific strategy for security services, and it has been the only way I have stayed visible in the map pack lately. Are you guys finding that "near me" searches are the only thing actually bringing in leads these days? What is your main focus for 2026? submitted by /u/aral10 to r/localseo [link] [comments]

I took a struggling local service business from Zero to $80k/month in 120 days using these 7 SEO Steps.
I work with many local service businesses like plumbers, roofers, home builders etc. and I keep seeing the same problem everywhere like they have a GBP, Website or maybe even a few reviews and still the phone barely rings. The issue is almost never the service because It's almost always the SEO foundation and every time fixing it doesn't take months. It takes about 90 days of consistent work on the right things. I want to share the exact 7 step process I follow and the strategy itself is what actually can help any business to grow so yeah Let me break it down.. 1. Fix Your GBP Categories First This is the very first thing I look because most businesses picked their main GBP category when they first set up the profile and then they never touched it again. In this time, competitors add secondary categories that make them show up in searches that you completely missed like a plumber who only has "Plumber" as their category might miss searches like "water heater installation" or "drain cleaning service" because a competitor added those as secondary categories. What I do is go to Google Maps and search the top 3 keywords for that business then I click on the top 3 or 4 competitors and look at every category they have listed and then make a note of every category that those competitors have that my client is missing and after that I add the relevant ones to the profile. This takes about 10 minutes and it's the old way of doing this research used to take half a day and the result is that the profile starts appearing in searches which were completely invisible before. This alone has moved businesses up in the local pack without changing anything else. 2. Stop Chasing Broad Keywords 'Best plumber in 'city'.....You will spend months and money chasing that keyword and probably never win it because 20 other businesses with hundreds of reviews and a 10 year old domain are ahead of you. The keywords that actually bring in paying customers are boring and specific like.. "Water heater repair [neighborhood name]" "Emergency AC repair [city]" "Roof leak fix [zip code area]" "[Service] near [landmark or area]" These are called bottom funnel keywords and people searching for these are not browsing but actually they have a problem right now and they need someone to call. That's who you want to rank for. What I do is look at the keywords that the top 3 competitors in the area are already ranking for and then find the ones that my client is not ranking for at all. So those become the priority targets and ranking for 20 low competition and high intent keywords is worth far more than barely cracking the top 10 for one big broad keyword. 3. Build One Service Page Per City Per Service Here most local websites completely fail because fhey have one "Services" page that lists everything. Maybe one 'Service Areas' page that mentions 10 cities in a paragraph. Google does not work that way and If you want to rank for "furnace repair in [City A]" and "furnace repair in [City B]" the those need to be two different pages. Each page needs to be written specifically for that city with local context or specific details about that area and with proper on-page SEO (title tag, meta description, H1, internal links, etc.). For a business with 5 services and 8 cities that means 40 pages. That sounds like a lot and it used to take weeks to write all of them. and the important thing is that each page has to actually be useful and specific not just a template where you swapped the city name. Done right, these pages become the biggest driver of organic traffic and calls within 60 to 90 days. 4. Get Google Reviews Instantly (as much as you can) Reviews are not just social proof actually they are a direct ranking factor in the Google local pack like having more reviews or more recent reviews and higher average ratings all help your GBP rank better. The target I set for most businesses is 50 reviews in the first 90 days and that sounds like a lot but it is very doable if you have a system. So first I look at the top competitor in the area and check how many reviews they are getting per month and that tells me what the business needs to match or beat to compete. Then I help the business set up a simple review request system. After every completed job the customer gets a text message (or email) with a direct link to the Google review page. The businesses that go from 12 reviews to 60 reviews in a few months almost always see a noticeable jump in their local pack ranking. 5. Turn Every Review Response Into an SEO Signal This one surprises people like when you respond to a Google review so that response text is indexed by Google and even most businesses either do not respond at all or paste the same one line reply to every review. What I do instead is build a small system of response templates. About 3 variations for each star rating level like each template naturally includes the service name and the city. For example a response to a 5-star review from a customer in a specific area might say something like "Thank you so much for trusting us with your water heater repair in [neighborhood]. We really appreciate the kind words." That is a keyword-rich piece of content that Google reads and indexes and over a year if a business gets 120 reviews and responds to all of them with proper or varied responses then that is 120 pieces of free SEO content sitting right on their GBP profile. Most businesses ignore this completely and it takes about 30 seconds per review to do it right. 6. Get Backlinks From Real Local Sources Only I am going to be direct here because directory submissions, link packages and link farms are none of that works anymore and some of it can actively hurt you cuz Google has gotten very good at identifying low-quality links. What actually works for local businesses is simply get links from real websites that are relevant to the local area or the industry. The way I find these opportunities is by looking at the backlink profiles of the top 2 or 3 competitors and find every website that is linking to all of them but is not linking to my client. So those are the best targets because there is already a relationship between that type of website and that type of business. Examples of real backlinks for local businesses are local newspaper mentions, local chamber of commerce listings, sponsorships of community events, being featured on a local blog, getting listed on a real industry association site and partnerships with related but non-competing businesses. The goal should be 2 to 4 real quality links per month not 200 fake ones because two to four real ones beat 200 fake ones every single time. 7. Track Only these three things This is important because a lot of business owners get overwhelmed by SEO reports full of numbers that do not matter. The only three things that I track for local service businesses are, Rankings for the specific "money keywords" (the bottom-funnel service + city keywords from Step 2), Calls coming directly from the Google Business Profile and Revenue that came from those calls. Everything else is secondary and If the rankings go up, calls go up, and revenue goes up then the strategy is working. If the phone is ringing more than it was last month, that is the real test. I pull a simple one page report every month showing these three things. It takes about 5 minutes to put together and the business owner can understand it in 30 seconds. So the month 1 is all about fixing the foundation like GBP categories, service pages, review system, tracking setup then month 2 is about building momentum like more reviews coming in, pages starting to rank, first backlinks going live and then month 3 is where the results really start to show like consistent calls from organic search, local pack visibility for multiple keywords, the phone ringing from people who found the business on Google for the first time. 90 days of consistent execution on these 7 things. That is genuinely all it takes to outrank businesses that have been around for years but never put in the SEO work. submitted by /u/zumeirah to r/localseo [link] [comments]

Quoted $3500/month for local SEO as a plumbing business - how do you even know if it's worth it?
I just got off a call with a SEO agency that quoted my plumbing business $3500/month. When i asked what that actually gets me, they said "local pack visibility" & "authority building." I asked how long before i see more calls coming in , they said typically 6 to 12 months. I'm a plumber, i don't have 12 months and $40k to find out if this works or not. The thing that's messing with me is that local SEO for a service business feels like it should be simpler than some national ecommerce play. I just need to show up when someone in my city searches "plumber near me." But every agency prices it like I'm competing globally. Is local SEO for a local business actually worth paying an agency for or am i better off just optimizing my google business profile myself and calling it a day. submitted by /u/Fun_Delay_5224 to r/smallbusiness [link] [comments]

Is $10k/month with Local SEO actually realistic? Or am I just stuck in my head?
Hey everyone, I wanted to share where I’m at and get some real opinions. Right now, I’m working a warehouse job, but I’ve started building a local SEO agency on the side. The goal is to eventually go full-time with it. I’ve already set up most of the basics. I’ve got BrightLocal, a website, hosting, domain, Canva, all that stuff ready to go. But here’s the reality… I haven’t acquired a single client yet. So now I’m stuck thinking… is this actually a real path, or am I just chasing something that sounds good in theory? My goal is to reach around $10k/month eventually. Not overnight, but as something real and sustainable. I’m focusing on local service businesses here in Canada. I guess what I’m really asking is: Has anyone else been in this exact stage (everything set up, zero clients)? Did it actually turn into something real for you? Or am I overestimating this and stuck in a bit of a mental illusion? Would appreciate honest feedback, not hype. submitted by /u/ErrorIsPerfect to r/localseo [link] [comments]

Hey everyone, I run a small local business and keep hearing about local SEO, but honestly, I’m a bit confused about whether it’s actually worth the effort. Some people say it brings in consistent leads, while others say it takes months with no real results. I don’t have a huge budget, so I’m trying to be careful where I spend my time and money. Here's My Local SEO Strategy I Currently Use to Rank on Google.
Exact match business name. If your company name includes your core service and city, you have a significant ranking advantage on Google Maps. Some business owners file a DBA for their highest-volume service and create a separate Google Business Profile around it. It's one of the most effective (and underused) strategies in local SEO. Multiple Google Business Profiles. In competitive metros, one GBP often isn't enough. If you can legitimately create additional profiles for separate service lines or locations, it gives you more real estate in the Map Pack. This has to be done correctly or Google will suspend them. Review velocity matters more than review count. A company with 150 reviews getting 30 new ones a month will almost always outrank a company with 400 reviews getting 2 a month. Google cares about momentum, not just totals. Build a system that generates reviews consistently and don't let up. Build out location pages for every area you want to rank in. If you serve 15 cities, you need 15 location pages. Each one should be unique, relevant to that specific area, and built around the keywords people in that area are actually searching for. No copy and paste templates with just the city name swapped out. Post geotagged photos to your GBP. Photos taken on job sites with location data embedded can help you rank for "near me" searches in that area. Make it a habit for your team to take photos on every single job. It takes 30 seconds and it compounds over time. Page speed is a direct ranking factor. If your site takes more than 3 seconds to load, it's hurting you. Most home service websites are bloated with heavy images, unnecessary plugins, and cheap hosting. Clean it up. Fast site = better rankings = more leads. Set your business hours to 24/7. This allows you to show up in search results when a lot of your competitors are "closed" and filtered out. Set up an offshore receptionist or an AI agent to field the incoming calls. A huge chunk of homeowners search for services between 6 and 9pm after they get home from work. If you're showing up and your competitors aren't, those calls are yours. Branded search volume is massively influential. The more people that Google your company by name, the more Google trusts your brand. And that trust helps you rank higher for the non-branded terms like "plumber near me" that actually bring in new customers. Post on social media, have flashy trucks, and put up yard signs. Everything that gets people to search for your brand feeds your rankings. Speed to lead is literally everything for inbound leads. Set up an AI agent that responds to ALL incoming leads from LSAs, Thumbtack, Angi, Yelp, and website forms within 60 seconds. Personalized message, not a generic template. This alone can increase your conversion rate on those leads by 30 to 40%. Most of your competitors are taking hours or even days to respond. Being first matters more than being perfect. Ranking in the Map Pack is infinitely more important than your website showing up in organic results. The top 3 results on Google Maps get the overwhelming majority of clicks and calls for local searches. If you're investing in SEO and your agency is only focused on getting your website to rank in organic results... they're focused on the wrong thing. Unique citations with consistent NAP data. Your business name, address, and phone number need to be identical across every directory, listing, and citation on the internet. Inconsistencies confuse Google and hurt your rankings. Audit this at least once a year. FAQ sections on every service page. Write out the exact questions your customers would ask ChatGPT or Google about your services. Answer them clearly on your site. This helps you rank in traditional search AND AI search results. Write them the way a real homeowner would actually ask, not the way an SEO would write them. Service area vs storefront setup. You NEED a physical location GBP in order to rank well in 99% of competitive markets. Yes, it's not intuitive. Advanced schema markup is incredibly important for ranking. LocalBusiness schema, Service schema, FAQ schema. This helps Google and AI models understand exactly what your business does, where you're located, and what services you offer. It is registered as structured data which is easier for engines to read. This isn't everything, but if you nail these, you'll outrank the majority of your competition in almost any market... submitted by /u/zumeirah to r/localseo [link] [comments]

Does anyone have experience making money with local SEO?
Hi everyone, I'm starting to explore ways to earn extra money and local SEO caught my eye, specifically helping businesses improve their Google Maps profile and visibility in local searches. I have a few questions and would love to hear from those who have done it: Is it really profitable for a freelancer just starting out? What kind of businesses typically pay for this service? How long does it usually take to see results and get clients? Are there any tips for avoiding common mistakes when starting out? Any comments, stories, or advice would be greatly appreciated. Local SEO Service for Small Business?
Hey everyone, I run a small local business and I’m trying to get more steady leads from Google Maps and local search. I keep seeing offers for local seo services for small business, but the pricing and promises are all over the place and I don’t want to waste money. I’m based in the US, so I’m mostly looking at local seo services in usa and trying to decide between hiring a local seo consultant or going with a local seo agency usa. A lot of people push local seo packages and I’m not sure what’s included that actually moves the needle vs what’s just “nice to have.” I’m not looking for anything fancy — I just want more visibility in my area and consistent growth. Affordable local seo services sound good, but I’m also worried cheap = low effort. Questions: What should real local seo services include for a small business (GBP work, tracking, website fixes, citations, etc.)? How do you tell if someone is offering the best local seo services vs selling a generic package? Is a solo local seo consultant better than a bigger local seo agency usa for a small business? What results are realistic in the first 3–6 months with local seo packages? Would love to hear what worked for you, what you paid, and any red flags to watch out for. submitted by /u/Naive_Gate7520 to r/BusinessDevelopment [link] [comments]

Best Local SEO Service?
Hey everyone, I run a small local business and I’m trying to stop relying only on word of mouth. I keep seeing ads for local seo services and every site claims they’re the best, but it’s hard to tell what’s real vs marketing. I’m mainly looking for local seo services for small business (not some huge enterprise plan). I’m in the US, so ideally something focused on local seo services in usa and not random overseas “SEO packages” that don’t understand Maps. I’ve looked at a few options like a local seo agency usa, hiring a local seo consultant, or just buying local seo packages… but I’m not sure what’s actually worth it. I’m also trying to stay on budget, so affordable local seo services sounds good, but I’m worried “affordable” might mean low quality. My questions: How do you judge the best local seo services before signing anything? Is it better to hire a local seo consultant vs a local seo agency usa for a small business? What should be included in real local seo packages (GBP work, citations, content, links, tracking, etc.)? What’s a realistic timeline for results if I go with affordable local seo services? Would really appreciate honest experiences, what to ask, red flags, and what you’d do differently if you were hiring again. submitted by /u/AlertCalendar2 to r/BusinessDevelopment [link] [comments]

Why is LOCAL SEO so hard??
Hey SEO people, I own a marketing agency and have ramped up a little over 21 local clients in the last few months but am now facing a major problem - they want SEO work from us and we don't really offer that as a service. We've been following the steps to creating successful and high ranking profiles but we constantly see dips in rank and performance. What's going on?! submitted by /u/Nick_Wave to r/SEO [link] [comments]

Best Local SEO Companies?
Edit - I have started using GBPPromote for local seo, went onto a demo call with them and saw what their action plan, so thought of giving them a try. I’m a small business owner looking to hire a local SEO company or agency and I’m honestly overwhelmed by options. Every website claims to be one of the best local SEO companies, but it’s hard to tell who actually delivers results versus who just sells packages. I’m mainly interested in local SEO services for small business, not enterprise-level SEO or generic national campaigns. I want help with Google Maps visibility, local rankings, and steady lead growth, not quick wins that disappear. A few questions for people who’ve been through this: How do you evaluate the best local SEO companies before signing a contract? Are affordable local SEO providers worth considering, or is low pricing usually a red flag? Do the top local SEO agencies specialize in certain industries, or should a good local SEO company work across niches? What realistic results should I expect in the first 3–6 months from professional local SEO services? Would really appreciate honest feedback or experiences from anyone who’s worked with local SEO agencies and seen measurable improvements. submitted by /u/amtgpt00 to r/BusinessDevelopment [link] [comments]

Affordable Local SEO Tool for Small Agency
Hi Everyone, I run a small SEO agency managing around 40 clients, and I’m on the hunt for reliable but budget‑friendly tools that cover the essentials. I’ve looked at a few (BrightLocal, Whitespark, DAXRM, MOZ Local, etc), but I’m still not sure which ones are truly worth the investment. From your experience: Which tools do you use for local and global rank tracking, GBP, GA4 and GSC? Which ones make client reporting easy and scalable for ~40 clients? ideal for a small agency budget. Would love to hear your recommendations, if you were in my shoes. Thanks! submitted by /u/Admirable_Scene3295 to r/localseo [link] [comments]

What’s the best site to buy Google reviews?
I’ve noticed more businesses quietly using review generation services to improve their local SEO. Some claim to buy Google reviews, but I’m curious about how effective and safe that really is in 2025. I’m not talking about random fake reviews, more like structured ones that help boost visibility in the map pack and build social proof for local searches. If you’ve tested any sites for this, how did it go? Did your rankings in Google Maps or local searches increase? Were the reviews written naturally or obviously templated? And most importantly, did any of them get flagged or removed over time? I’m trying to figure out if this still works for reputation management or if Google’s detection systems have gotten too sharp. Real experiences or insights appreciated. submitted by /u/Background-Shirt2415 to r/smallbusiness [link] [comments]

She thought she got away unscathed
I own an apartment in NYC in Manhattan and decided to rent it out furnished and move to the house I had bought for my infirm mother and take care of her on a full time basis (she’s 87). The rental income was to become my main source of income. My new tenant, a middle aged woman from Queensland, Australia lacked previous landlord references since she said she had owned and lived in her home for 30 years. She was gainfully employed, met the financial criteria to qualify and provided some solid letters of reference. Long story short she stopped paying the rent 7 months into her 1 year lease. My attempts to contact her were unsuccessful so I took her to Housing Court and had her evicted, and sued for damages in small claims court (damaged microwave, stained sofas, apartment left in filthy condition). As you can imagine she skipped the court dates, surreptitiously moved out of the apartment, completely ghosted me and fled back to Australia where it would be very expensive for me to remotely hire a local lawyer to domesticate the financial judgements and garnish her wages. I was adamant that she wasn’t going to do this to any other landlord and plotted my revenge. She has a very unique name, so I bought her domain name- let’s say her name is Jane Smith, I purchased Janesmith.com and built a website. I proceeded to post the details on said website: her photo, an official copy of the financial judgements I won against her (she owes me $16,000 in unpaid rent + $7,000+ in damages) including photos of the filth left in the apartment, the damaged furniture and broken microwave, the notice from the Marshall posted on door with eviction details, details about where she worked and the club she frequents in Queensland to play bridge. I was very careful to only include facts so as not to be accused of slander. I focused on the SEO of the website and managed to have the website be the #1 result when you google her name. Then I sat back and looked at the stats of the website visits which showed her employer had visited the site and I also got emails from some people who had seen her at a professional conference she attended and wanted to let me know her whereabouts. In addition, I communicated with the people who wrote letters of reference on her behalf which she submitted when she applied for the apartment and told them about her unscrupulous behavior. It‘s now going to be 3 years, I still own her domain name, website is still up and still gets visitors and if you google her name it’s still at the top of the rankings. Although keeping the website going is costing me some $, the satisfaction of knowing that she has been publicly unmasked and can’t swindle others continues to give me great satisfaction. She arrogantly and callously cost me $20,000 in unpaid rent and damages, and it is now costing her far more than she saved in unpaid rent: any job she applies for, any apartment she tries to rent, anyone she tries to date will know the truth behind the mask. Angela in Queensland: you now know FAFO! submitted by /u/Buddhany to r/revengestories [link] [comments]
