Update: I’m trying pimple patches… I’ve covered over 75% of them and I’m taking the patch off every 24 hours and applying new ones until the core is out and it starts to heal/scab…. I will let everyone know how this goes. Could be months and hundreds of patches.

I am in my first trimester and have been able to keep my skin looking ok using “safe” products like cetaphil and laroche posey but I do have a couple zits I’d like to spot treat. I (31f) married my husband (37m) in December then moved in with him and his daughter (15f). The mom (41f) is in the picture but my stepdaughter lives us full-time. On the 1st day of school after Christmas break for my stepdaughter, I was to drive her to school. When she was "ready," she was in pajamas that smelled like gym clothes. She had pimple patches all over her face. Her hair was messy and greasy. But I didn't say anything. She's 15 and in 10th grade, I figured she's old enough to dress herself. Plus if her mom and dad don't have a problem with it, why should I. My mom (53f) came to visit. My mom looked like her eyes would fall out of her head when she saw how my stepdaughter looked when she came home from school. My mom asked how on earth I'm allowing my stepdaughter to go to school like that. I told my mom nobody asked for my input and it wasn't my decision. She called me, my husband, and my stepdaughter's mom bad parents for allowing her to look like that at school. I asked my mom to leave my house. Am I the asshole ? First things first, I (41m) love my wife (43f). I think my wife is a gorgeous woman with gorgeous skin. My wife has struggled with cystic acne her whole teenage and adult life. She's a teacher at an all-girls private high school and my wife would wear visible star-shaped pimple patches (without makeup) in class to help the students feel more comfortable. I think that's wonderful in that context. Also, I honestly think my wife looks cute wearing those pimple patches. But thing is, our daughter (13f) is struggling with cystic acne just like her mom. My daughter, wife, and I are going to my sister's (37f) wedding. My wife wants to go wearing visible star-shaped pimples patches without makeup. My daughter has told me she doesn't want people there paying extra attention her mom's acne since they may then pay extra attention to her acne as well. Also, my sister is laid back but I think she wouldn't want one of her guests to wear very visible pimple patches. Without bringing up our daughter's concerns since she didn't me to tell her mom this, I asked my wife to please do NOT wear very visible pimple patches to my wedding. I didn't get it at first, but now I admire the people who just own it and walk around announcing they have a zit via neon star sticker. My go-tos were toothpaste, lancing, and warm compresses and they did absolutely nothing. Then I'd try to cover the zit with makeup, which just looked worse because the skin in the middle would be taut and shiny, and the skin around the edges would go all dry and flaky. I’ve been having some issues with this particular pimple for a couple days. It kept seeming like there was still a bump and I went through at least 5 pimple patches and they kept filling up! But not to this extent. I put this one on before bed and I woke up with it practically falling off it was so full. It was wet and literally filled. When I took it off the area of the pimple with completely flat but it left somewhat of a burn that has been hurting a bit today. I’ve been putting hydrocortisone cream on it to speed up some healing. I didn’t wanna put another pimple patch because I didn’t want to damage the area any further although if I did, it would probably continue to fill up. I’m not sure if it was actual gunk or just fluid coming out of the pimple. Anyways, is this normal for it to be that full? The second photo is the burn that it left. Putting a traditional normal sized bandaid on a tiny cut on your finger or toe is annoying. Even if you have some of the smaller bandaid, or the ones designed for knuckles or finger tips, they still don't tend to be that comfortable. They can restrict movement, block sensory input and get soggy when you wash your hands. Plain pimple patches (the non medicated ones) are just hydrocolloid bandages. For small injuries like a paper cut or torn hangnail, they can be amazing. It being covered with a pimple patch can stop a lot of the irritation, keep out germs and promote faster healing. They are less noticeable and blend in better than a traditional bandaid. I scraped the top of my little toe while swimming. it was small but suprisingly irritating. It rubbing against a sock or shoe was uncomfortable, but less uncomfortable than when I tried putting a regular bandaid (all i had available) on it. A pimple patch worked great for it. I've had some kids in my life who have sensory issues and bandaids tend to be a no go. My young nephew picked at a hangnail which tore leaving a small but irritating wound, kept complaining about it and picking at it. I told him about my magic bandaids that are clear and little and don't go all the way around like normal bandaid. He agreed to try it, and I asked him about an hour later how it felt and he said he forgot he even had it on. Since they are small, flexible, and non toxic, they tend to be less of a choking hazard than regular bandaids too. Not that I recommend eating them, but it's probably safer than a regular bandaid for kids who put everything in their mouths but I'm not a doctor and that's just my personal assumption as a parent who once had to call her child's pediatrician while crying because her 11 month old took off her shoe and sock and ate a bandaid in a literally less than 2 minute car ride to the other side of the neighborhood. She pooped it out the next day and I was told the only real hazard was she could have choked on it. I have two large red pimples on my chin at the moment and I’d like to hide them by wearing the star pimple patches but I’m kind of nervous that people will think it’s weird. I sometimes wear the clear ones out and besides my mum who mentioned once that it’s weird, nobody else has said a thing. The clear ones don’t really hide the redness though which is why I’m considering the star ones. I guess I would rather them see a sticker than my inflamed pimples, but it still makes me a bit nervous. My daughter (14) had been complaining about a “monster zit” on her nose for a couple of weeks and was using pimple patches to treat it. At least, that’s what I thought was going on and had no reason to question it. I was driving her to school yesterday and noticed that in place of the pimple patch, there was a little nose stud and I was shocked and asked multiple questions. I made it clear that I was not happy. Rather than going off on her in the kiss and ride line, I took a breath and let her know that we would be talking about it after school. In the end, I made her remove the piercing and took her phone away for the weekend. *** She pierced it herself btw. I apologize for being unclear The idea of a nose piercing has been brought up plenty of times over the past year or so. The compromise that I thought we had settled on was that we would discuss it more seriously when she is 16 years old, which I think is fair. I’m not conservative and absolutely encourage her to express herself via fashion, hair, makeup, jewelry, etc. She would not come out of her bedroom last night and cried and cried, which may have also been because of her phone being taken away. She told me that removing the piercing should have been punishment enough and I actually think I went pretty easy on her. The thing is that she lied about doing something that I thought had been settled. The kiddo clearly thinks I’m the asshole, but I’m not so sure. Luckily, there was no infection and I’m hoping it closes up without scarring. I’m a single parent and her father is not involved whatsoever making times such as this a bit more tricky for me to handle without second guessing my actions. This past few months i had around 72 pimple patches and used them over the course of a few months everytime a new new pimple popped up. I finally ran out of them this week and another pimple popped up and i naturally let it form the head and lightly drained and cleaned it. I noticed this acnes scar is fading way quicker than the ones i have from pimple patches. The pimple patches acne scar have been there same since the 3 months and theyve only slightly faded. I'm in my early 20s so the turnover shouldn't be this slow. When i saw how quickly my acne scar started to fade when i just leave the acne be i got so surprised????
