Do you think the cards will continue to project upwards? I dont and here is why. We wont see as many returning adults to the hobby as these kids grow up, due to scarcity of cards, current card prices, and literal adults ruining it for these kids by scalping sealed product to resale later. There for "The price of nostalgia" wont exist. I was a kiddo during the initial pokemon boom in the 90s so I remember how big it really was for that time. Kids today my kids included dont give a shit about pokemon at all. I know its still a thing for some in the school but not like it was. This is just my opinion but I feel as though somthing needs to happen to grab these grade schools kids again because its just not going to be the same when they get older. It really is a shame. This hobby just seems to bring out the worst in people. It doesn't matter what the situation is, this whole hobby just seems like it's a bunch of neckbeards and highschoolers in a competition to see who can screw over the most people, and who has the prettiest collections. Nobody cares about morals anymore. Nobody collects just to collect and it's damaged the hobby's reputation for both itself and the people who want to continue being a part of the community but are being forced out the door in favor of people who want to make money off of it. I really don't understand how it's gotten this bad, yet nobody seems to do anything about it regardless of how much it gets called out online. I'm tired of watching a hobby I've been a part of for 20+ years at this point going to shit more and more because people act like they're going to die if they don't swipe entire stores worth of them. Genuine question, how the hell are people affording these things now with the state of the economy?? I got this Pikachu when I went to see the first movie as a kid. I got the pack about 13 years ago as a little buy-in with two other friends. Then my friend said "hey let's get them graded" and I thought it was the dumbest idea. A Pokemon TCG store that was the victim of an armed robbery is now changing its name following Nintendo apparently getting in contact. Last month The Poke Court – a Pokemon Card store in Manhattan, New York – was robbed at gunpoint during its very first community evening event. An employee told ABC7 Eyewitness News that in the three-minutes that the robbery took place, the suspects had stolen over $100,000 worth of merchandise from the store. A post on the store's website (via TheGamer) says: "First, thank you to everyone for the insane support we've seen, both near and far, in the less than two years we've been open." The team then explains, "The short story is that Nintendo reached out to us with concerns about our name and logo.
