So to preface this, my mother has given me a tamagotchi for graduating highschool.. she says it's always been her dream toy since she was a child as it was popular back in the 1999's! (I'm honestly so jealous I wasn't born during this era) I don't actually know anything about tamagotchi or their history. But so far, tamagotchi paradise has really grown on me (⁠｡⁠•́⁠︿⁠•̀⁠｡⁠) I love my pets, I love my girl Hira (Hirohotchi) and I don't mind that it's low maintenance! But whenever I search up reviews about the paradise it seems that the majority are semi-negative or are comparing it to other units. Last week I was bored to tears doing work on the computer and longing for a little something to fuss with for a small dopamine boost without scrolling. I looked up some virtual pet apps for my iPad but they all obviously mine your data, demand a ton of attention, and a bunch of them include ai. Somehow I ended up thinking about Tamagotchis even though I hadn’t used one in 20 years. WELL. Let me tell you. The franchise is alive and well and they have really expanded their capabilities beyond my sorry imagination. And what excited me most is that the newest model is completely self contained. Its not hooked up to WiFi or my phone or anything like that. It has an expansive little world in there that is all very simple and low stim. The reviews all said it doesn’t demand much time and there’s a babysitter function. I got it just a few days ago and it’s been amazing and soothing and totally easy to put away. On a normal day I only have to fuss with it a few times throughout the day and if I’m busy then I turn on the babysitter function. It completely fills that need to check in on something and when I do it is very limited instead of an endless scroll of options. I pick it up, I see the tama sitting in a hot spring or something, I smile to myself and set it back down. Each day there’s like 5 new things in the shop. that’s it. it’s exciting to look at in very short and controllable bursts and I’m missing social media less than ever. The Frida Kahlo Game Boy was created as a sculptural object. I carved out the screen area to arrange various items inside, and after the final firing, I finished it with resin. The Tamagotchi series followed the same process—carving the screen, arranging the elements, and finishing with resin after the second firing. ​I think ceramics and resin make a surprisingly great combination. Hi, I (19F) received a tamagotchi for Christmas from a friend who had been on a trip to Japan. After the Christmas break I tried to take care of it but once it died after 3 days without me really understanding the reason (I looked it up online and assumed it was because I gave it too many snacks?) and then after I reset it it died again after 7 days while I was away from home. My question is, how can you take care of them when you’re working or in university? Like do you bring your tamagotchis with you? I tried to at the beginning but the beeping is just too loud! Since then I haven’t reset it or restarted it yet, but I was wondering if there was actually a way to keep it alive while doing everything else! Murloc Minder on Curseforge You start with an egg and use the care buttons and in-game challenges/tasks to make the egg hatch faster. Then you get to see which murloc you got (there are uncommon to legendary) then you clean, feed, play, and rest with your murloc to keep it happy and earn shells to buy better items, upgrades and more. This is very much a work-in-progress so there are bugs, missing features and broken items but I need some help balancing the numbers and getting it to feel just right. I'm at my boyfriend's parents' house for the holidays, and I was caring for my little guy while also supervising and interacting with my human children as they did crafts at the table. My MiL, who I've mildly butted heads with as we seem to have conflicting forms of autism (lol) said she's too "rational" to enjoy playing with a Tamagotchi and implied it's a stupid hobby. Basically, what the title says. I've been noticing more and more lately that this subreddit, and the Tamagotchi community here, seems to have some level of an overconsumption issue. Not infrequently am I seeing posts of massive collections, worth hundreds if not thousands of dollars, from people who started collecting within the last year. I'm talking multiple On/Meets/Some, multiple P's, limited-release shells, and so forth. And that's awesome for them! I wish I had the financial stability and limited responsibilities that I assume these people have to be spending so much money on a hobby/collection so quickly. I really, truly do. I know they aren't hurting anyone directly by doing this, but it's concerning to see nonetheless. Sometimes, the poster is aware that they've made questionable financial decisions and they just laugh it off like it's not a big deal. I'm sorry but financial irresponsibility, and contributing to scarcity and overconsumption is not a "teehee" moment. I understand there are other factors in play that influence people to overconsume as much as they do, and that it's also on Bandai for charging so much for product and not producing more of a product when the demand is so high. I was just frustrated and wanted to vent. I don't even know if this is allowed, so if it's not, feel free to delete my post. I just had to share this because I’m honestly obsessed! I bought a custom Tamagotchi ON clone from u/Outrageous_Pace_8942, I saw a post he made recently and i messaged him and we did buisness the same night. I had to have one!!! The whole experience from start to finish was amazing. We set everything up through Facebook — once he had all the details, he walked me through how the device works(charging), got to choose which version, and then shipped it out quickly. He was very responsive and answered every single question I had. I chose the Magic version, and let me tell you… this thing is adorable and super convenient. Some highlights: ✨ Customizable Options I got to pick the motherboard color red there were like 4 options i think Chose the button colors (I went with red, white, and yellow!) Asked if he could use a specific Sanrio-themed background print i saw in one of his pics, and he did! There are holes at the top so you can attach charms/keychains just like a real Tama (it also came with a red Keychain thing to hold it) ✨ Features It turns on and off with a simple switch on the side, so you can pause it anytime — lifesaver! It has a charging port, which is honestly incredible because no more damn batteries 🙏 It can connect with actual Tamagotchi ONs, so gameplay isn’t limited The sound quality is good, and the screen looks really nice and vibrant Everything feels well-made, responsive, and still nostalgic but upgraded in the best ways.
