Can I cook in layers in an air fryer?
Absolutely, you can cook in layers in an air fryer, but there are some important things to know before you start stacking stuff up. Air fryers work by circulating hot air around the food, so if you block that airflow too much, your food won’t cook evenly and you might end up with soggy spots or undercooked pieces. Some air fryers come with a rack accessory or a divider that lets you create two levels safely. That works really well for things like wings on the bottom and veggies on the top, since both cook at similar temperatures and time. If you’re just tossing stuff directly on top of each other in the basket, it’s usually not going to turn out great, especially with thicker pieces of meat or anything that needs a crisp exterior. A few tips I’ve learned from trying a ton of brands and models: make sure you leave space around each piece for air to flow. Light, small items like fries, onion rings, or small veggies are perfect for layering with a rack. Heavier items, like chicken breasts or big fish fillets, really need their own space or at least a single layer. And don’t forget to check and shake or rotate your food halfway through—air fryers don’t magically circulate air perfectly through stacked layers, so a little help goes a long way. So yes, layering is possible, but it’s not a “dump it all in” situation. The key is airflow and being realistic about what’s going to cook evenly. Some of the newer air fryers with taller baskets or multiple trays handle this much better than the tiny ones. submitted by /u/ExpertHorror4535 to r/AirFryTalk [link] [comments]

Comparing Breville Smart Oven Pro vs Smart Oven Air Fryer: What are the key differences?
If you’re trying to decide between the Breville Smart Oven Pro and the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer, you’re not alone this is one of the most common countertop oven dilemmas. This guide is here to help you cut through the marketing noise and actually understand what matters. I’ll walk you through the real differences, where each model shines, and when you might regret picking one over the other. Quick caveat: both ovens are premium appliances. They’re not cheap, and they’re not small. If you’re tight on counter space or budget, you’ll want to think twice before committing. By the end, you’ll know: Which one suits your cooking style What features actually matter (and what’s just hype) Which one I’d recommend in different situations Quick Overview: What’s the Core Difference? At a high level: Feature Smart Oven Pro Smart Oven Air Fryer Main Purpose Convection oven Convection + air frying Air Frying No Yes Size Slightly smaller Larger Cooking Functions 10 13+ Best For Baking, roasting, reheating Crisping, frying, versatility Simple analogy: Think of the Smart Oven Pro as a really good traditional oven. The Air Fryer version is that same oven but it also moonlights as a mini deep fryer (without the oil mess). Design & Size: Not Just a Countertop Detail Smart Oven Pro More compact Easier to fit in smaller kitchens Still big enough for: 12-inch pizza 6 slices of toast Smart Oven Air Fryer Noticeably larger and taller Needs more vertical clearance (important if you have cabinets above) Practical scenario: If your kitchen already feels cramped, the Air Fryer model might feel like inviting a bulky guest who never leaves. My take: If space is tight, I typically recommend the Smart Oven Pro. The Air Fryer version can feel oversized unless you actually use its extra features. Cooking Functions: Where Things Start to Diverge Smart Oven Pro Functions Toast Bake Roast Broil Pizza Reheat Warm Slow cook And more Smart Oven Air Fryer Functions Everything above, plus: Air Fry Dehydrate (low-temp drying for foods like fruits) More precise crisping modes What’s “air frying,” really? It’s just high-speed convection cooking hot air circulates quickly to crisp food. Think of it like a hair dryer blasting heat at your fries from all angles. Performance: Does Air Frying Actually Matter? Smart Oven Pro Excellent for: Baking cakes Roasting vegetables Even heating Not great for: Getting that deep-fried crisp Smart Oven Air Fryer Designed for: Crispy fries Chicken wings Frozen snacks Still performs well as a regular oven Real-life example: Reheating pizza: Both do great Making frozen fries: Pro: soft-ish, oven-style Air Fryer: crispy, closer to restaurant-style My opinion: If you love crispy food, the Air Fryer version is worth it. If not, you may never use that feature. Ease of Use: Controls & Learning Curve Both models use: Knobs + LCD display Pre-programmed settings Difference: Air Fryer model has more pre-sets slightly more to learn But honestly? If you can operate a microwave, you’ll figure this out in a day. Accessories: What You Get Smart Oven Pro Baking pan Broiling rack Smart Oven Air Fryer Everything above, plus: Air fry basket (mesh tray for airflow) Additional racks Why the basket matters: It allows air to circulate under the food key for crispiness. Energy & Cooking Speed Both are faster than traditional ovens. Air Fryer model advantages: Faster crisping Slightly quicker for small meals But here’s a reality check: Don’t expect miracles. It won’t cut cooking time in half it just makes certain foods better. Cleaning & Maintenance Smart Oven Pro Easier to clean Less splatter Smart Oven Air Fryer More grease and crumbs (thanks to frying) Basket needs regular cleaning Practical advice: If you hate cleaning, air frying might become a chore instead of a benefit. Price Difference Model Price Range (approx) Smart Oven Pro Lower Smart Oven Air Fryer Higher Rule of thumb: You’re paying extra mainly for air frying + added versatility. Who Should Buy Which? Choose Smart Oven Pro if: You mostly bake, toast, or roast You don’t care about crispy fried textures You want something more compact You prefer simplicity Choose Smart Oven Air Fryer if: You love crispy foods (fries, nuggets, wings) You want one appliance to do everything You cook frozen or snack foods often You don’t mind extra cleaning My Honest Recommendation If I had to simplify it: Casual home cook? Go with the Smart Oven Pro Snack lover or multitasker? Go with the Air Fryer version In my experience: People who buy the Air Fryer version either love it or barely use the feature after a month. There’s rarely a middle ground. submitted by /u/Zealousideal_Bus1270 to r/ThingsForTheHouse [link] [comments]

I’ve gone way too deep into researching air fryers and now I genuinely don’t know what’s real anymore, so I need help from people who’ve actually used these long-term. In India
Started simple: regular non-stick (Teflon) air fryers. Then I read about coatings degrading, scratching, overheating, possible leaching, etc. Some people say it’s totally safe if used properly, others act like you’re seasoning your food with chemicals over time. Then I looked into ceramic — marketed as safer, but I found mixed opinions again. Some say it still wears out and isn’t as “non-toxic” as advertised. So I moved to glass air fryers (no coating, just glass + steel). I found options like: • Libra glass air fryer (4.5L) • Kilig glass air fryer • Prestige Air Flip (glass basket with 360° view) These sound safer since glass is inert and doesn’t react with food, but now I have new doubts: • Are they too fragile for daily use? • Are they heavy and annoying to handle? • Does food cook evenly? • Is crispiness worse than regular basket air fryers? • Capacity also feels limited Then I also came across stainless steel basket options (like Libra stainless steel interior models). These seem like a middle ground — no coating, but still durable. Also heard about some brands claiming oil-free / stainless steel basket air fryers (like Aurelia-type ones) — are these actually legit or just marketing? Then I considered air fryer ovens / OTG-style: • But they take a lot of space • I already have a microwave with convection + grill • And people say they don’t match the crispiness of basket air fryers anyway So now I’ve come full circle back to regular air fryers 😐 What I actually want: • Proper crispy outside (fries/chicken, not soggy disappointment) • Juicy inside • Something I can use long-term without worrying about toxins or it breaking on me My questions: 1. Are Teflon air fryers actually unsafe long-term, or is it overblown if used properly? 2. Is ceramic actually better, or just marketing? 3. Are glass air fryers worth it, or do they compromise performance? 4. Are stainless steel basket air fryers (like Libra ones) the best middle ground? 5. Are “oil-free stainless steel” brands legit or gimmicky? 6. Do air fryer ovens really fail at crispiness compared to basket ones? 7. If you had to pick ONE type for daily use, what would you choose and why? Would really appreciate honest experiences from long-term users — not just specs or ads. Help me end this air fryer identity crisis before I give up and just deep fry everything like it’s 2005 submitted by /u/wondering_Dentist to r/Appliances [link] [comments]

Are air fryer accessories universal?
Air fryer accessories are not truly universal, but a lot of them can work across different models if the size fits. Most accessories are basically just small pans, racks, or baskets made to sit inside the cooking chamber. Things like silicone liners, small baking pans, pizza pans, and grill racks often work in many air fryers. The main thing that matters is the diameter or overall size. If it physically fits inside the basket or oven without blocking airflow, it will usually work fine. Where people run into problems is with basket shape and capacity. Some air fryers have round baskets, others are square or rectangular. A rack designed for a round 5.8 quart basket might not sit right in a smaller square one. Height also matters. If an accessory is too tall it can sit too close to the heating element and cook unevenly. Another thing to watch is airflow. Air fryers rely on hot air circulation, so accessories that are too solid or oversized can block airflow and make food cook poorly. That is why most good accessories have holes or mesh. In my experience after trying a bunch of brands, the safest move is to buy accessories based on basket size rather than brand. For example, if you have a 5 quart or 6 quart air fryer, look for accessories made for that capacity range and check the actual measurements. So the short version is that many accessories are compatible across brands, but they are not truly universal. Size, shape, and airflow space matter way more than the logo on the box. submitted by /u/ExpertHorror4535 to r/AirFryTalk [link] [comments]

Do I need to buy liners for an air fryer?
I’ve been using air fryers for years and gone through a bunch of models from cheap basket units to bigger oven-style ones. Most of the time I don’t use liners at all. Air fryers are designed so hot air circulates around the food, and anything you put in the basket that blocks airflow can affect how evenly things cook. That said, liners can be useful in certain situations. If you’re cooking something really messy like marinated chicken, saucy wings, or anything that drips a lot of grease, a liner can save you some cleanup. Parchment liners with holes are usually better than the solid ones because they still let air move around. The downside is people sometimes overuse them. I’ve seen folks put liners in for everything, even fries or frozen food, which honestly doesn’t make much sense. It can reduce crispiness and sometimes the liner even lifts up from the fan if there isn’t enough food weighing it down. Personally I only use liners occasionally when I know the basket will be a pain to clean. For normal stuff like fries, nuggets, veggies, or reheating leftovers, I just cook straight in the basket and wash it after. So liners are more of a convenience thing, not a must-have accessory. If you hate scrubbing, they can help. If you don’t mind a quick wash, you can skip them entirely. submitted by /u/ExpertHorror4535 to r/AirFryTalk [link] [comments]

Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro Accessories
Enjoying my purchase + thinking about buying some of the accessories. Specifically the cutting board, air fryer baskets + pizza tray. Trying to figure our if they're worth buying from breville or get the items somewhere else for less. I've seen pizza pans and air fryer baskets (aka crisping baskets w/ a drip tray that breville doesn't offer) advertised elsewhere. I'm using foil + or parchment paper to keep it clean but think the drip tray would help. If anyone has purchased any of those items (or others) from Breville or anywhere please give me your reviews, good or bad. Any other tips or things to avoid are appreciated. Thanks! submitted by /u/Tie_Poe to r/breville [link] [comments]

Steak in the air fryer…. What’s the issue ?
Ok I put my steak in the air fryer for a few mins and get my medium rare. I actually love it. I told my son and my friend last weekend while we were watching a soccer match. Both individuals jaws dropped , they were actually disgusted with me. Especially my son he hasn’t answered a text in 3 days (only joking but he was not happy). Am i wrong ? Am I the only person in the universe that does this ? After their reaction I feel like I should be banished to an air fryer island with my fellow food destroyer’s. submitted by /u/Zealousideal-Box5833 to r/stupidquestions [link] [comments]

Bought Instant Pot Pro Crisp 8L 2nd hand – missing air fryer basket & protective lid pad (EU replacement options?)
Hi all, I just picked up an Instant Pot Pro Crisp 8L second-hand for about €65 / $70 USD. It looks barely used, so I felt like it was a pretty great deal. However, after I got home, I realized it’s missing two accessories: Multi-level air fryer basket Protective pad / storage cover for the air fryer lid From what I understand, these normally come with the Pro Crisp model. I’ve found replacements on US eBay for around $30–40 per item, but shipping to Europe is another $35+ each, which makes it disproportionately expensive. So I’m wondering: Does anyone know of EU-based stores that sell official Instant Pot replacement parts? Is there a European distributor for spare parts? Are there compatible third-party alternatives (especially for the basket) that properly fit the 8L model? Is the protective pad really necessary, or is it mostly just the air-fryer basket I need I tried to check the official instant pot website, but I couldn't seem to find these accessories. Would really appreciate advice from other European Instant Pot users. Or if there are some other American sellers which ships to europe much cheaper. submitted by /u/TheTerribleCoconut to r/instantpot [link] [comments]

Where to buy air fryer racks
So i recently unboxed my ninja foodi XL DZ550 and I can't seem to find the wire racks that went with it. I know they're a separate purchase though. They look very similar to this but fit in the foodi XL and are rectangular. submitted by /u/Tonberry38 to r/airfryer [link] [comments]

Air Fryer Oven Vs Convection Microwave
Need help choosing one. I heard convection microwave oven makes less crispy food compared to air fryer oven is that true? Also does convection microwave take much longer than air fryer? Essential accessories for a first time air fryer owner?
Just what the subject line says! I’ve bought a Cosori Turbo and would love to know what else I need as a new AF owner. I’m having a hard time figuring out what is necessary versus what is just “nice to have”. Thanks so much for your suggestions! submitted by /u/yaelshammer to r/airfryer [link] [comments]

Top 15 Best Air Fryers in India (2025): Full Comparison, Performance Breakdown & Cleaning Guide
Thinking of buying an air fryer in India? Here's everything you need to know before you waste your money or worse, end up with a bulky gadget gathering dust next to your toaster. This guide is built to cut through the noise. No sponsored fluff, no generic copy-paste specs. Just hard facts, practical advice, and brutally honest takes based on real product data and user feedback. Whether you're a health-conscious home cook, a gadget geek, or just someone who’s tired of oily tandoori in a kadhai, this guide will walk you through: What an air fryer actually does (and what it doesn't) Side-by-side comparison of the best air fryers in India (from ₹3,000 budget models to ₹13,000 beasts) Different types of air fryers: basket vs oven vs hybrids Real pros and cons, not just brochure talk Cleaning tips, because yes, they can get nasty if you ignore them A word of caution: Not all air fryers are created equal. Many are overhyped, some are poorly built, and a few are just convection ovens with marketing makeup. We’ll call out the bad ones and help you pick what actually fits your needs, not just what sells. What Is an Air Fryer? TL;DR: It's a countertop convection oven with a fan that blasts hot air at your food, mimicking the crispy texture of frying—but with 80-95% less oil. Great for reheating leftovers, crisping snacks, roasting, baking, or pretending you're healthy while eating 16 air-fried momos. Common Indian Use Cases: Aloo tikki, fries, nuggets, pakoras (dry type) Reheating parathas and samosas without sogginess Roasting paneer, mushrooms, or veggies Light baking of garlic bread, cookies, Types of Air Fryers (and Who They’re For) Type Capacity Price (₹) Best For Pain Points Basket-Type 3–5.5L 3K–15K Singles, couples, reheating Manual shaking, round shape limits space Oven-Style 12–25L 10K–30K Families, multi-dish cooking Huge footprint, longer cleaning Paddle-Type ~4L 15K–25K Lazy cooks, dry sabzis Few models in India, fragile food = sad Rotisserie-Enabled 6–12L 10K–18K Chicken, kebabs, tikkas Setup hassle, heavy cleanup Pressure Cooker Lids 6–8L 10K–20K Instant Pot users Slower, bulkier, not true air fry How It Stacks Up Technically (Vs. Oven, Deep Frying, etc.) || || |Feature|Air Fryer|OTG Oven|Deep Frying| |Preheat Time|3–5 min|10–15 min|None| |Oil Usage|1–2 tsp|None|1–2 cups (or a full bottle)| |Crisping Power|Medium-high|Low|Extreme| |Energy Use (per 20 min)|~0.5 kWh|~1.0 kWh|Medium-high| |Taste Accuracy|80%|60%|100% (but RIP arteries)| Pros (Real, Not Marketing Fluff) Uses Less Oil: 80%+ fat reduction without soggy sadness. Insanely Fast: Fries in 12 mins vs. 25 in your sad OTG. Low Maintenance: Baskets are non-stick, often dishwasher safe. Versatile: Air fry, bake, roast, reheat—all in one. Compact (basket types): Fits well in apartments. Safer than Frying: No oil splatter, auto shut-off is standard. Cons (Things They Don’t Tell You) Small Batches: Feeding 6 people? Hope you like waiting. Learning Curve: First batch = burnt. Second = soggy. Third = edible. No True Fry Texture: It’s crispy-ish, not deep-fried god-tier. Bulky Units (oven-style): Needs dedicated space. Can Be Noisy: Fans can hit 60 dB. Check before buying. Nonstick Coatings Wear Out: Especially cheap brands. Cleaning Comparison || || |Type|Cleaning Pain|Pro Tips| |Basket|Easy|Use liners or silicone baskets| |Oven-Style|Medium-Hard|Clean trays + wipe walls weekly| |Paddle|Medium|Remove and wash paddle unit| |Rotisserie|Painful|Meat juices = mess. Use foil.| |Air Fryer Lid|Medium|Lid needs hand wash after each use| Pro Tips Before You Buy Capacity Lies: A "5.5L" basket doesn't mean 5.5L of food. Expect half that. Wattage Sweet Spot: 1300–1700W is ideal for quick, even cooking. Round vs. Square Basket: Square = more usable area. Transparent Window?: Only in oven-style. Otherwise, shake + pray. App Support?: Gimmick. Ignore unless you love firmware updates for kitchen gear. Bonus: Eco & Health Notes Better Than OTG or Fryer for power use per meal. Still Not Healthy If You’re Cooking Frozen Junk. Just because it's air-fried doesn't cancel out the 40% sodium. Great for Vegans: Roasted tofu, dehydrated chips, sabzis = chef’s kiss. Final Verdict: Should You Buy? || || |You're a Good Fit If...|Maybe Skip If...| |You cook for 1–4 ppl|You feed a joint family daily| |You want fast, less oily food|You want authentic fry texture only| |You have ₹4K–₹15K budget|You're broke or already own a convection OTG| |You have space on the counter|You live in a 1BHK with no plug points left| Bottom Line: Yes, it's worth it. If you know what you're getting. The right air fryer can be a health-friendly, time-saving beast in the Indian kitchen. But don’t fall for the hype. Know your needs, pick the right type, and skip the Instagram gimmick models. submitted by /u/AutoModerator to r/UsefulThingsOnly [link] [comments]
