Advice for wayyy too much Apple stock
I (30yo M) have a ton of Apple stock. Very low cost basis so every sale triggers enormous cap gains tax. I’m trying to diversify gradually so I don’t end up screwed at end of year. A very sharp financial advisor and fam friend (not my official advisor) gave me some tips for solid ETFs to round out the portfolio, so I have begun building out portfolio in last few years. What do ya’ll think…hold onto the remaining AAPL for a while? Or any thoughts on these particular ETFs? My only other single stock is Amazon which I firmly believe is on of the most promising companies of the century. Rip me to parts of you think this portfolio is stupid. Tribute to Apple stock and Tim Cook for putting my children on the path to financial security
I’ve posted about this before, but with my daughter reaching a milestone birthday and Tim Cook’s announced exit and Apple approaching a new all-time high, I thought I’d repost about my 30 year investment for my daughter in Apple stock which reached more than a 210,000% total return (including dividends). From my initial $1600 investment of 100 shares when Apple stock was in the dumps and my daughter was 9 months old, it would today be worth more than $3,200,000. Now it’s quite a bit less than that because it substantially paid for her schooling and her four years of Ivy League college tuition, and seeded the rest of her investment portfolio (which now contains investments in NVDA, GOOGL, META, UNH, V and ETFs). When she graduated from college, she still had $300,000 left over after paying for college and in the ensuing 7 years of aggressive investment it has grown to more than $1.4M. Now 30 years old, this is totally my daughter’s money, and I just invest it for her. She has a high paying FAANG job (more salary than I ever made) so she doesn’t need to touch any of it, but has moved a significant amount to cash to buy her first house. By a rough estimate, I think she has a net worth over $3 million when you include her company RSUs of about $1.5 million, and her retirement and savings accounts. My advice to the new fathers out there is to invest whatever you can for your children as early as possible, save and stretch to pay for all of their education, and teach them how to handle the money when it is turned over to them. submitted by /u/doughboy_491 to r/Money [link] [comments]

AAPL Soars Continuously; an All-Time High Is Within Reach
Hey, Apple went beast mode again last night, and today it could easily hit a new all-time high! Beating earnings expectations for several quarters in a row, this company is really showing off. Tim Cook is stepping down soon with John Ternus taking over, but I’d bet Apple’s stock isn’t done climbing yet Every new iPhone sets the trend, and with AI, services, and its hardware ecosystem, Apple is basically covering all angles. The market will eventually see its true value Technically, it’s full of bullish signals, rising volume, strong price action, and a new all-time high right in front of us. AAPL never lets down its believers. It’s not just a tech giant; it’s a signal for tech stocks to move up AAPL is surging today, and it could very well break its historical record. Thoughts on the upcoming Apple earnings
People say Apple has been a winner in AI by doing nothing. In my opinion, this is false and it is going to start showing as soon as this quarter. The reason is that AI-caused shortages in chips, memory will hit smartphones and consumer devices hard. Because the margins are far greater for AI chips and HBM memory, companies bidding for TSMC, SK Hynix, and Samsung chip wafers can outbid Apple. This means Apple will have to make a choice: eat the higher costs and lower margins for iPhones, iPads, Macs, etc or raise prices and sell fewer devices. Up until now, they didn't have to do this because they had longer term contracts with TSMC and RAM makers. But this is going to be less true for Apple as time passes. Apple is in a better position than other consumer focused companies because their pricing power is stronger but they're not immune to this shortage. I think they will have an amazing financial results last quarter, but their guidance will cause their stock to drop or stay flat. The problem for Apple is that they won't have the AI revenue to make up for the consumer problem. They don't have AI revenues from Azure, Google Cloud/Gemini, or AWS. And they don't have the growth from LLM training like OpenAI or Anthropic. I speak from being an AAPL investor for many years. I stopped investing in Apple when ChatGPT released. I focused on AI chip and energy companies instead. I still own AAPL but I've not bought a single more share in 3 years+. That said, I won't sell Apple because their products are still very sticky and they're the best at on-device AI chips through Apple Silicon. They have a chance to be a strong local AI player in the future. However, the next 1-3 years might be rough for Apple. My history and views: I've been early and correct in every single post 2 months ago, I told you to focus on companies that produce the physical goods needed for AI to function: https://www.reddit.com/r/stocks/comments/1r2nbln/ai_play_isnt_just_gpus_its_everything_physically/ Every single company I mentioned is way higher. I had negative upvotes and non-believers in the comments section. One month ago, I called the CPU shortage and told you to buy TSMC, Intel, AMD and among others: https://www.reddit.com/r/stocks/comments/1rkep5v/the_upcoming_cpu_shortage/ TSMC up 20% in 1 month, Intel up 87%, AMD up 70%. Vast majority of comments were non-believers. Just before Intel earnings, I told you people are still underestimating CPU shortage: https://www.reddit.com/r/stocks/comments/1stkmwz/reminder_cpus_are_in_huge_demand_intel_earnings/ Intel up 23% after earnings. Vast majority of comments were non-believers. I'm a SaaSpocalypse believer and do not invest in software companies. I believe software will be cheap to produce but physical things will cost more in the future: https://www.reddit.com/r/stocks/comments/1so605s/figma_falls_77_as_anthropic_introduces_claude/ Finally, my general view of AI is that there isn't a bubble (yet). Everything right now is being driven by real demand. Just look at how desperate Anthropic is for more compute so they can keep growing. Suppliers like TSMC, Samsung, SK Hynix and even Intel are still very cautious in investing in more factories. This truly doesn't smell like a bubble to me. There are overhyped companies here and there, but we are not in a bubble (yet). When OpenAI and Anthropic IPOs and their valuation shoots to $5 or $6 trillion, then we could be in a bubble. submitted by /u/Wonderful-Sail-1126 to r/stocks [link] [comments]

I am Dave Lauer, CEO of Urvin Finance, was recently a guest on The Problem with Jon Stewart on Apple TV+, and I’m here to talk with you about the stock market and retail advocacy. AMA!
Hey everyone! Great to be here and I'm looking forward to spending an hour chatting. I'll do my best to answer anything I'm able to - I've been working in markets for a long time now (17 years!) and have been pushing for regulatory reforms since 2012 when I testified before the Senate Banking Committee. We recently launched an effort to build a grassroots advocacy campaign at we-the-investors.org and I'm excited for the opportunity to help retail advocate on its own behalf. submitted by /u/dlauer to r/Superstonk [link] [comments]

I am Jon Stewart, host of The Problem with Jon Stewart on Apple TV+, and I’m here to talk with you about the stock market. AMA!
Hello Reddit, it’s me Jon Stewart. You know me. I’m Adam Sandler’s friend from Big Daddy. Or maybe you know me from the popcorn gif, which according to leading internet historians, comes from something called The Daily Show which I allegedly hosted for 16 years (but the popcorn gif is the only remaining proof). Now I host The Problem with Jon Stewart on Apple TV And sometimes I go to Congress and try to shame elected officials into showing a baseline of humanity. Today we’re discussing the problem with the Stock Market…Ask me anything!! PROOF: https://i.redd.it/kq21choogul81.jpg EDIT: Thank you all so much for having me today. I hope the early confusion didn’t take away from your enjoyment. Really appreciate your thoughtful questions. See you in my sub-subreddit, r/OldJewsThatUsedToHostDailyShows (also the name of my new crypto token). submitted by /u/JonStewart to r/IAmA [link] [comments]

There's a scene in Forest Gump showing that he made a ton of money from Apple stock purchased in the 70s. When we saw that scene in 1994 we all thought " too bad we missed the boat on that one".
