is using baby wipes normal
this is the most embarrassing question ever but i don't want to ask anyone i know personally in case it isn't normal. i have fairly severe contamination ocd and every time i go to the bathroom i use baby wipes (obviously after using toilet paper) to clean myself. (i wish i had a bidet but i don't). i have done this for about two years now. i have kept it a secret from my family and friends because i'm really worried they'll think i'm a freak, but recently i wondered why they would think that and now i don't really know. so, from a normal person's perspective, if somebody told you they use baby wipes after going to the bathroom, would you look at them weird? or is this a relatively normal thing to do? eta: i buy compostable wipes and i do not flush them! submitted by /u/enochlitikierotisi to r/NoStupidQuestions [link] [comments]

Baby Wipes?
My baby is 6 months old, I’ve been fortunate enough to not have had to purchase baby wipes since she was born! However we’re running low and I was wondering what good recommendations you all may have? She just got her first rash and honestly it could be due to a variety of reasons (teething, etc) so I’d like to stick to sensitive ones, so far we’ve used: Pampers Sensitive: 7/10 great, moist, soft and affordable if bought in bulk. My complaint is that they ALL come out. The packaging is super flimsy and they clump up in there once it’s running low. Honest: 6/10 kind of on the dryer side still soft I only had a few of these so I used these first hardly remember them Millie moon: 8/10 not too dry not too wet, favorite packaging so far. My issue is I don’t think they’re as soft as other brands and I am not sure if this caused her rash or the other variables. Considering repurchasing Millie moon but if you have better recommendations please let me know! submitted by /u/Novel-Imagination-67 to r/NewParents [link] [comments]

Favourite water wipes discontinued- looking for reccs
The 99% water wipes from Aldi have been changed and are now crap! We liked the old ones (pictured) because they were really wet and smooth so you didn’t have to rub when wiping. We‘ve tried Huggies, cubs, Woolies brand, and “probiotic” water wipes and they all feel abrasive and quite dry. What are your recommendations for wipes? Curash baby wipes now Made in China
How disappointing. Our beloved Made in Australia Curash baby wipes are now made in China. Curash has marketed this under the guise of a “new and improved” formula. (What they really mean, is, higher profit margins for them). I wrote to Curash a few times and they provided a few standard and lovely responses about “state of the art blah blah” in China etc and that their “safety standards are their biggest priority”. But we ALL know why this change occurred. I am highly disappointed in Curash and will no longer be purchasing their new baby wipes now made in China. I will be sourcing brands of baby wipes made in Australia moving forward. We must support local and boycott these greedy companies that make these changes for profit reasons alone at the expense of the loyalty of their customer base. Please tell all your mum and dad friends because this silliness and greed from these corporations cannot be supported by our hard earned dollars. submitted by /u/User76284682 to r/australian [link] [comments]

If a baby has severe diaper rash and has diaper cream on, do you wipe off all the cream every diaper change and put fresh cream on?
I should know this. But I don't. I am an infant teacher and recently we had a baby with the WORST diaper rash I've ever seen. Bleeding and so raw. Everytime I would wipe her she would cry so much and blood would be on the wipe. Should I just wipe a little bit to get only the pee and lather on more diaper cream on top of the old stuff? Or wipe of all the old diaper cream before putting more on? Ah I feel so dumb for not knowing this and I'm too afraid to ask anyone at my job because I should know this. (This obviously does not apply to a BM diaper) Edit: Thank you SO much for all the suggestions. I will definitely be taking these and talking to her mom. To the guy who gave us the baby wipes while my daughter was vomiting 🤮
This morning my daughter had a little to much fun on a ride and threw up randomly in the Avenger Campus. She’s 12, but intellectually is about 4 special needs and has a hard time communicating that she wasn’t feeling well so it seems to come out of no where. My husband did the cup the hands and try to catch it move. Some guy walking by pushing a stroller just throws us a full pack of baby wipes without breaking his stride and said “keep it, we have plenty” and kept on walking. We didn’t get a chance to say thank you, but sir you’re the MVP. Thanks for helping out a couple of dads in an icky situation. If I knew who you were I’d be buying you a beer right now. Thank you. Sometimes people are awesome! ETA: great news! This morning my daughter woke up, threw her hands in the air and said “I’m not sick anymore! I’m hungry!” Great sign, and she’s a little mad all we’ll give her is crackers and water. ETA 2: ….and she just threw it all up again 😩. Send good vibes y’all, as it’s a travel day for us. It’s gonna be rough. submitted by /u/Blue_Eyed_Devi to r/Disneyland [link] [comments]

Reddit to women: spoonfeed your adult male partner basic life skills like a fragile baby bird! If you don't, it is your fault if he can't clean/cook/wipe his butt.
Pretty much just that. Soooo much advice predicated on the idea that grown-ass men who can't do basic adult things are only that way because they never learned how! They also are unable or have no responsibility to identify and remedy their own glaring ignorance. Somehow, they forgot how to Google and that's not their problem, it is YOUR problem! Because you expect him to be a functional adult and not a toddler. submitted by /u/craftygamergirl to r/TwoXChromosomes [link] [comments]

After finding out that many baby wipes contain harsh ingredients, I looked into all the main brands to find the safest options
I'm someone who is deeply interested in the ingredients used in personal care products (especially baby products). I recently took a list of 40+ (I lost track at some point) of the most popular baby wipes and looked at every single one of the ingredients. I cross-referenced medical journals, studies, and databases from the EU and US to analyze the ingredients. If you're interested, you can find the full list of 40+ baby wipes and their ingredients analyzed here and ranked from best to worst. Here's what I found: There's no such thing as "biodegradable" baby wipes: This one bummed me out. While a lot of wipes say they're biodegradable, because of the way landfills are designed (a lack of oxygen, light and moisture—crucial components of decomposition) they won't break down in any reasonable amount of time. And they won't break down in the sewer, either. Never flush baby wipes: Even if the wipes say they're flushable, don't flush them. Ever heard of a fatberg? They're a huge mass of grease, hair, dental floss wipes, etc. that combine into a huge mass in the sewer system. They recently pulled a 40 ton fatberg out of the London sewer system. Please don't flush wipes. Materials used: Most brands disclose the material used in the wipes, but many do not. The four main materials wipes are made of are: Polypropylene is essentially plastic—the same plastic used in most disposable diapers. Polyester is also plastic. Viscose is made from wood pulp. This wood pulp is highly processed and often bleached, but is better than polypropylene and polyester. Cotton has started to find its way into the baby wipes market with newer brands. Some brands even use organic cotton. Ingredients to avoid in baby wipes: The following list of ingredients should be avoided when shopping for baby wipes. Our listings make sure that none of these ingredients exist in the product. If they do, they will receive a bad rating. Polysorbate 20 – Treated with ethelyne oxide, which can be contaminated with 1,4 dioxane, a highly toxic chemical that is linked to organ toxicity and cancer. Parabens – Toxic preservatives that have been linked to breast cancer, hormonal disruption and skin irritation. Anything ending in “-paraben” such as methylparaben, ethylparaben and butylparaben is included. Phenoxyethanol – Considered to be a less toxic preservative, but still linked to skin irritation and eczema. Sodium Benzoate – A chemical preservative that’s inconclusively safe. Studies have linked the chemical to ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) but that likely only applies to sodium benzoate when used as a food preservative. It’s also controversial due to its ability to turn into toxic benzene when mixed with ascorbic acid (a derivative of vitamin C). Fragrance – Seeing fragrance on a label is never a good thing. This is used as an umbrella term used for hundreds of chemicals that don’t need to be disclosed. It’s also often mixed with phthalates—linked with endocrine disruption, lowered sperm counts in males, and thyroid disorders in females. Propylene glycol – A petroleum-based chemical typically linked with skin irritation and kidney issues when used internally. While this compound is broken down in the body, infants’ ability to do this is much lower than an adult. Because of this, we believe avoiding this chemical is better. Polyethylene glycol (PEG) – Petroleum-based penetration enhancer that can be contaminated with 1,4-dioxane, a possible human carcinogen and ethylene oxide, a known carcinogen. Anything that starts with “PEG-” is included. Triclosan – Another preservative linked to endocrine disruption, eye and skin irritation, and is very toxic to aquatic organisms. Tocopheryl acetate – This is a synthetic version of vitamin E, used as a preservative in skincare. The issue is that it’s sometimes contaminated with hydroquinone, a skin-lightening agent that’s banned in the UK, EU, Japan and Australia. This chemical is a skin irritant and possible carcinogen. Note on preservatives: While it's easy to hate on preservatives, in some products—like baby wipes—they're crucial. I found one brand that uses no preservatives at all (Dyper) and I could never recommend them for that reason. Baby wipes are essentially water and paper, which is a breeding ground for bacteria and mold when no preservatives are used. If a brand doesn't list any preservative, it either means they aren't using any, or they're not disclosing the ones they are using, which is a bad sign. Beware of WaterWipes: WaterWipes are a popular brand amongst health-conscious mamas because they advertise themselves as being just "water and grapefruit seed extract". However, in 2020 they changed the ingredient listing to include "trace of benzalkonium chloride" as a preservative. This is a well-recognized irritant and contact allergen, and therefore I'd recommend other brands over WaterWipes. Let me know if you want me to do any other guides. submitted by /u/glowingnest to r/moderatelygranolamoms [link] [comments]

YSK NEVER to flush ANY wipes (baby, disinfectant, etc.), it will clog your septic system and do costly damage
Even the kind that claim to be 'flushable' aren't really, especially not on a massive scale like we're seeing right now as people turn to using them more than ever before. Save yourself a very expensive visit from the plumber, and dispose of them in a trash bag. Better yet - use an alternative, these things are awful for the environment. Bidets for bathrooms, washable rags/old t-shirts for cleaning with are some ideas. Edit: For those who still have doubts, please google "fatberg" and peruse the image results after reading detailed descriptions. Also, read the DOZENS of firsthand accounts in this very thread from sewer maintenance workers, plumbers, and others who have experienced the horror that can result from this. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS TRULY FLUSHABLE WIPES. Toilet paper is the only product designed to DISINTEGRATE fully. Just because it goes down your toilet bowl and vanishes before your eyes, doesn't mean it's all good. The reason companies market "flushable" wipes is because there's no law preventing them from doing so, and clearly, there ought to be. submitted by /u/griftylifts to r/YouShouldKnow [link] [comments]

Two studies of unvaccinated children in an Orthodox Protestant community in the Netherlands found that measles wipes out the immune system’s memory of previous illnesses, returning it to a more baby-like state, and also leaves the body less equipped to fight off new infections.

ELI5: How can a candy company (Jelly Belly) create flavors that taste like baby wipes, skunk smell, grass, etc., yet the major soda companies cannot create a diet soda that tastes EXACTLY like the original?
Ok, I will say that Diet Dr. Pepper is very close. Good lord! Did not expect to hit the front page. And now I understand when people say their inbox blew up! Thank you for all the explanations, though. Now someone can do a TIL ... submitted by /u/fungobat to r/explainlikeimfive [link] [comments]
