Question about making bamboo flutes
Hello everyone, learning to make bamboo flutes. From last month until now, I’ve made five of them. I know there is still a lot of room for improvement, but before I continue making new flutes, I’d like to come here to ask for help and advice. This is the most recent flute I’ve made, and I tuned it to the key of G. Because I’m interested in Irish music, these flutes are mainly made for that purpose. At first I was making longer flutes in the key of D, but when I started making these shorter flutes, I noticed that the upper octave of the lowest note (G in this case) is noticeably flat (the octave interval is too narrow). I searched online but couldn’t find good solutions. This piece of bamboo is naturally slightly conical. I tried filing away some material between the embouchure hole and the sixth finger hole to make it more conical, and also moved the stopper slightly closer to the embouchure hole. These helped a little, but not much. Does anyone with experience have any insights or suggestions regarding this issue? I’ve also attached a link to a video of me playing scales and a tune for testing. (I haven’t previously learned to play the transverse flute before, so the fingering might look a bit awkward.) playing scale playing tune submitted by /u/Lieeing0018 to r/Flute [link] [comments]

[TOMT][house/edm] Japan/bamboo flute drop
Heya Was camping last night and people in the distance must have been having a rave or party of sorts It was a pretty heavy fast pace house or edm and it would have a bamboo flute drop of sorts, a deeper flute sound Then back to the edm. Didn’t have the oriental sounds all the way through the track, just the drop Not even sure if that’s enough description as I was half asleep but stayed awake because it was a good tune 🤣 Cheers submitted by /u/robfpvgt to r/tipofmytongue [link] [comments]

Planning on offering Bansuri (Indian Bamboo Flute) Lessons - Online
Hey everyone, I'm a bansuri player based in the Bay Area, California with over a decade of experience performing Hindustani classical music. I'm gauging interest for a beginner cohort, a structured group format for those who want to learn alongside others. If there's enough interest, I'll share more details on timing and structure. This will mainly be for folks in the USA (for easier timing coordinations). For now, if you've ever been curious about the bansuri but weren't sure where to start, I'd love to hear from you. What I'm offering: A beginner cohort (for now) for those who want to learn alongside others in a structured format. (Online for now). To start out, this will be for absolute beginners who don't know where to start. If you want to learn more about me, here are my links: Website (performances, background, teaching philosophy): https://flutearjun.vercel.app/ Lesson inquiry form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdpZGB4XSXAf0hGFYAE21AfsiXgUbEaVh9ZQUciz-WR-kL3Mw/viewform Happy to answer any questions in the comments. Learning bamboo flute
Hello, I want to learn to play the bamboo flute because there are particular western compositions I want to be able to play on it, I think it would sound ethereal on a bamboo flute, given how melodic it can be. I tried learning a couple of times but couldn't keep up with training. Also because classical is not what I was interested in. Now Ihhave just learned that what I have is a carnatic flute. I don't understand how or why it is different from a hindustani flue. I want to understand enough music theory, train my ear and fingering, to be able to play the particular pieces I'm interested in. I am more inclined to fusion music. Can someone guide me? I am also disinterested in the heavy religious connections and casteist connections to carnatic music, all teachers I find are very brahmanmical. submitted by /u/learn-_- to r/Carnatic [link] [comments]

Considering a six-hole bamboo flute. Does anyone have experience buying from Serenity Bamboo Flutes?
I played a traditional Western concert flute when I was a teenager, but as an adult I'm increasingly drawn to six-hole transverse flutes made of wood or bamboo — the kind designed to play folk melodies. I'm considering ordering a G-tuned bamboo flute from Serenity Bamboo Flutes in Massachusetts. Does anyone here have experience buying from them? I'd also welcome suggestions for other six-hole flutes in the $20-$50 range. Thanks so much! submitted by /u/awakeandfine to r/Flute [link] [comments]

Hand-made bamboo flute has a too high pitch
I started carving a flute out of bamboo a few days back, i measured the bamboo piece (70cms long, 3cms width and 3 mms walls thickness) i entered the values in flutomat (the simpler version) and cut it at somewhat close to 70cms. I just carved teh sound hole and obtained a A4. I carved it again a bit and obtained another A4 but higer so i reached the note of the flute. The sound hole was an oval of .7mm and .8mm at first and i widened it to .8 and .9, it seems to be too small yet i already reached the note of the flute, should i stop there? Also why is it so high, it should be somewhat closer to a D#4? Thanks, sorry i don't know a lot this is my first flute im trying to learn. Side question, I don't have any particular goal except making a relatively very low flute. For this i have a bamboo of .4mm wall thickness and 4.4cm width overall, does it seem doable? submitted by /u/Much_Elk3853 to r/Flute [link] [comments]

Bamboo flutes and snakes!
Introduction: As you may or may not know minecraft does not have any reptiles, well aside from the enderdragon, but that doesn't count (also sea turtles, forgot about those). This lack of reptiles has got me thinking and I came up with snakes and the bamboo flute, which would also bring another instrument to the game which could turn out to be very fun. Bamboo flute: Crafted using 3 bamboo and string. Adding a wool block to the recipe will change the color of the flute, there are a total of 17 different bamboo flutes. crafting recipe Usage: The bamboo flute can be used to play music. When right-clicking while holding it it will play a single note, holding right-click will make the note longer. When playing the bamboo flute you can also look more up to play a higher note or look more down to play a lower note. Steve playing the bamboo flute As mentioned before, there are 17 different flutes. Each bamboo flute sounds unique depending on their color. Different colors of bamboo flute could be used for achieving a different vibe or could even be used together with friends or alone by having differernt bamboo flutes in your hotbar and switching them around. Spain without the a Flutes are also used to interact with snakes, but more on that later. Snakes: There are two types of snakes, rattlesnakes and cobras. Cobras spawn in the jungle, sparse jungle and savanna. Rattlesnakes spawn in the desert, shattered savanna and badlands. For each biome they spawn in (naturally or by breeding), they have a unique variant, but more on that later. snek Behavior: When a player comes near a snake, it will try to warn the player to stay away. The cobra will open its mouth and hiss at the player. The rattlesnake will also open its mouth and shake its rattle aggressively. If the player did not get the warning and decides to come closer, the snake will attack and then try to slither away from the player. The cobra will spit its venom at you that gives the poison effect and the rattle snake will bite you which also gives the poison effect. When not threatened, the snake will slither around and will try to hunt. The snake will only hunt small mobs like chickens, rabbits, ocelots and other small animals including small non adult animals, but never the player. The snake can also catch bees or parrots out of the air by jumping at them or catch fish in nearby rivers, they are great swimmers. When times are desperate, the snake will also hunt larger livestock animals, like cows, pigs and sheep, but this is very rare. Other unique things about snakes is that they can slither through leaf blocks and climb vines. As mentioned before they can also swim, a swimming snake moves much faster than a slithering snake. Breeding: You can breed a snake by giving 2 snakes raw chicken or raw rabbit, after that they will lay their eggs. Snakes can lay their eggs on most blocks, but prefere to hide their eggs in gravel or sand, creating a suspicous gravel or sand block that contains one or multiple snake eggs. The suspicous block can be brushed with the brush to obtain their eggs. If the block is left untouched it will hatch baby snakes of that kind and the suspicous block will turn back to normal. Snake eggs can be picked up using using the silktouch enchantment. If there is no sand or gravel nearby, the snake will lay their eggs in the nearest cave or next to a cactus. Similar to sea turtles, snakes can lay up to 4 eggs. top - cobra eggs ; bottom - rattles nake eggs Similar to the frog, depending on which biome the eggs are hatched in, they will spawn a unique variant. These variants also spawn naturally. Green cobras spawn in the Jungle, Yellow cobras in the sparse jungle and black cobras in the savanna. Blue rattlesnakes spawn in the desert, brown rattlesnakes in the badlands and white rattle snakes spawn in the shattered savanna. rainbow snek Snake eggs can lain or can only be hatched in suspicous sand or gravel, on grass blocks, on dirt or coarse dirt, on stone or sandstone, on red sand blocks, on terracotta blocks. If snake eggs are placed on any other, block they will not hatch. Hatching an egg in a different biome where that kind of snake doesn't spawn, will spawn the default snake (green cobra, blue rattlesnake). Dancing: When playing the bamboo flute nearby a snake it will make it dance. The cobra will shake its head around and the rattlesnake will rattle its tail to the music. This will also pacify them temporarily. happy :D Similar to parrots, when touching a pacified snake, it will sit on your head and act like a hat. They will even dance on your head if you play the bamboo flute. SNAKE HAT!!!! Though you should always carry around a bamboo flute while doing this, because the snake will turn hostile again after a while which could result into it running away and hurting you. Conclusion: Snakes are cool, but also dangerous. I think they could be a very interesting mob for Minecraft and add a lot more atmosphere to the game that it desperately needs. The bamboo flute would also be a nice way to add more instruments to the game and will probably inspire some creative players to make music in minecraft. That's it, I hope you liked it! submitted by /u/enr1c0wastaken to r/minecraftsuggestions [link] [comments]
