Parks with toddler basketball hoops?
My almost 2 year old LOVES all things basketball. We go to courts in our area, but they’re all your standard “grown up” hoops. Are there any parks or indoor play places that have relatively shorter hoops? submitted by /u/MrsHalfWhite to r/Denver [link] [comments]

I want to build a directory of pickup basketball spots in the US, where does everyone hoop at?
I used to hoop at Lifetime Fitness in Brooklyn 2-3 times a week. It was good runs & a really nice community. Then they ripped out the basketball court and replaced them with pickleball courts. Which basically destroyed the hoop community overnight and a lot of the hoopers were rightfully upset (see the google reviews) It’s not uncommon to hear Lifetime or LA Fitness’s throughout the nation following suit and it makes me pretty sad as a hooper. Luckily over the years I’ve built up a network of hoopers throughout Brooklyn & New York who have access to private courts and have their own groups for specific hoop days. For example a friend of mine hosts a run every Monday night 9-11pm and he rents out a gym in Brooklyn and keeps it to about 15 guys. While another friend who plays on Saturdays but since it's a private building he can only let a list of 10-15 people. I started to realize that there are a ton of these types of runs out there hosted by folks who either rent a court or have private access to a gym somewhere. They’re not posted on Google or any app, they’re just word of mouth within small circles and they usually make for the best runs because folks are waiting 20-30 minutes to get on if they’re next. There are apps like Indoor Hoops or GoodRec (big in NYC) that try to solve this but honestly the runs can be hit or miss as the skill gap is all over the place. I wanted to find all the groups that have folks in a similar skill level so i started documenting every pickup spot and organized run I could find. I've made solid progress mapping out Brooklyn and parts of NYC (here’s a screenshot of what it looks like). However I am only one person so i want to expand it to other cities and build a free public directory so hoopers can request to join some of these groups without solely relying on word of mouth, especially for folks that just moved to a new city. So where does everyone run at? Specifically looking for: Organized runs hosted by regular people: someone who rents a gym, has building access, books a court weekly, whatever Runs with 15-20 people (not 25+ where you're sitting 3 games) Consistent weekly schedules (not random "maybe we'll play Tuesday") Indoor spots that do open court or pickup hours Any organized groups with recurring runs: doesn't matter if it's a church gym or a YMCA Drop your city and spot. I want to get as many cities covered so i can share the map publicly submitted by /u/Solomon_04 to r/Basketball [link] [comments]

Best community centers for my friends to play 2 on 2 basketball indoors in Nashville
Hi. A group of my friends are in Nashville for March madness this weekend. We are hoping to play basketballs indoors, either tomorrow or Sunday morning, around 10 am - noon. We are staying downtown. We tried the Y but they said we couldn’t buy day passes. Any idea what the best indoor community centers are that have day passes to people out of state? Doesn’t have to be in the immediate area, but anything over 30 minutes is probably too far. Also, if it’s a place that would give us better odds of getting a court and a free hoop without some sort of alternative accompanying activity going on that would be great (the more empty the gym the better). Any help you can give is appreciated! Thanks submitted by /u/SettingDazzling1294 to r/nashville [link] [comments]

Should I use Indoor Walking to track basketball sessions?
I used Basketball for tracking my hoop sessions in the past and the result is insane, something like 1400 calorie burned in 2 hours. I’m positive that I didn’t actually burn that much calories because the session is relatively light(light jogging full court). I’m thinking that I should just use Indoor Walking to track hoop sessions with the mindset of “better to underestimate than overestimate” since I’m also trying to lose weight. Has anyone else been doing this? submitted by /u/patrick_star_11 to r/AppleWatch [link] [comments]

Outdoor Basketball Shoes vs Indoor
Hi all, Working on a startup and wanted to get some feedback and input from some basketball communities. I am creating a silicone slip on protector with a rubber sole to go on basketball shoes on outdoor courts. The main reason for this is due to my experience playing basketball outdoors. If I only have one pair of hoop shoes, I dont want to ruin my traction on the outdoor court, and at the same time, I dont want to sacrifice my ankle support with running shoes. If there were a silicone slip on temporary sole (With rubber traction patters) that ACTUALLY worked, would you buy this? Thinking of starting this. Would probably run $25-$30 per pair Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks yall! Here is a mockup of what a basic one would look like https://preview.redd.it/s7ff4v503sbg1.png?width=1008&format=png&auto=webp&s=6d0c9fe43366bd10979617ab135b726b2df29c82 submitted by /u/lukemash32 to r/BBallShoes [link] [comments]

HELP ME VEGAS REDDIT! I've lived here since the beginning of the year, located in the Huntridge neighborhood. I'm trying to find anywhere close to me (under 25 minute drive) where i can hoop indoors. Finding good indoor drop-In basketball in Regina is basically impossible
Here's a comprehesive list of every indoor basketball drop-in I've tried in this city: Avana Center: I've had the most luck with this one. Lots of availability, big indoor courts, and it's usually not packed. Unfortunately, it's VERY dusty and slippery. I have to wipe my shoes off after every possesion. Also, they charge by the hour, which I find very strange.. South Evolution Fitness: This used to be good. There were consistent runs at a decent skill level. It was only a half-court and there were dead spots in the floor. Sadly, the gym shut down for "renovations" and never opened again. Tuxedo Court: Great gym, but poorly managed and they NEVER answer the phone. High school kids run the front desk. They post their availability and scheduling via Instagram.. be there 10-15 minutes early or you won't get in. It's almost always overcrowded, and there are a bunch of kids running around, so it's hard to have any good runs there. Sometimes they'll say it's an "open gym", but half of the court is setup for volleyball, so no one else can use it lol. University of Regina: They only accept cash... They don't update the schedule consistently, so you have to call the desk, but they're pretty good about answering. In my experience, the crowd here is usually difficult - if you're not assertive enough, you might get excluded completely. Bring guys with you. Every time I have gone, it seems like someone manages to crash out or get hurt. Maybe I've just had bad luck... Hooplife: Best facilities in the city! But every time I have gone to the open gyms, there was hardly anyone there. Seems like the gym is mostly used for training programs. This one is in a weird location, but it has so much potential for great runs. Maybe I'm just outta the loop and don't know when they're happening lol Field House: The court is usually overcrowded, and the age range/skill level is all over the place. I've also seen people get threatened and try to initiate fights here - it's a mixed bag. The floor is plastic. Not a fan of this one. Eastview Community Center: If you recommend this, you don't hoop. Suuuuuper low ceiling, very small gym, low rims, and tile floor. It's very hard to shoot without hitting the roof. It's fun to screw around in there tho. It sucks so bad that it's kinda endearing. mâmawêyatitân Centre: I haven't been there, but I called them, and they said they don't offer any drop-in basketball. Some people have told me that they've played drop-in there before... someone please confirm? YMCA: I used to hoop here years ago. It was fun in 9th grade but I can't imagine that it would be worth going to again as an adult. Low rims, small courts, but there were some fun runs every now and then. There were many times that we checked the schedule or called, and they said the gym was open.. but when we arrived, it was filled with bouncy castles for kids' bdays, or booked out for something random. The downtown Y had some decent runs... RIP. Nest Fitness Center: This is the Downtown YMCA under new ownership. Same gym. They haven't installed basketball hoops yet, but they're planning to install them by the new year. This might be the best option once it's available. HONORABLE MENTIONS: The Cage: The BEST runs and courts in the city. But it's outdoor, so you can't use it for most of the year. I'm focused on finding a good indoor option for the winter time. Eastview Community Center: If you recommend this, you don't hoop. Suuuuuper low ceiling, very small gym, low rims, and tile floor. It's very hard to shoot without hitting the roof. It sucks so bad that it's kinda endearing. There are no runs here and I'm pretty sure you have to rent/book it. Rent an indoor basketball court?
Hi Maidson! Just curious if you know if any indoor basketball courts that I can rent for an hour? My husband’s birthday is coming up and I know he “just wants to shoot hoops”. I don’t have a membership to Princeton club, the Y, etc… but willing to get one if membership is cheap (so not Princeton club, lol)z Ideally on the west-ish side but not picky :) thank you! submitted by /u/Unable_Zombie6148 to r/madisonwi [link] [comments]

Where can I play basketball open runs in Mexico City out door or indoor
Hey! I’m 18 and staying in Mexico City — looking for open runs or pickup games, especially ones with good competition. I’d love to know if there are parks, sports centers, or communities that play regularly. English or Spanish is fine — appreciate any suggestions or if anyone wants to hoop together! submitted by /u/Thcc_bb_dgo to r/MexicoCity [link] [comments]
