I am good on adhesive. My supply of black cardstock is looking a little skimpy though. I might have some stashed somewhere, I need to go check before I run to buy more. I also swear I had about five pairs of scissors before we left to get DD this weekend, and now I only have one. I need to track down whoever borrowed them and return them to my desk where they belong!

When I go to a crop or a weekend, I pack kits for myself. If I am doing my grandson's hockey photos, I'll pack the colors of cardstock I need, plus hockey embellishments. If it's more than a few hours, I always pack at least 2 "themes", so I don't get bored. I always pack white and black cardstock, too. Taking too much is a pain, but it's so hard to not do it.

Ghost White Toner on HP 3302 Printing Grey/Streaky on Black Cardstock – Need Help
I’m using an HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3302fdw with Ghost White Toner in the black slot printing on black cardstock. I’m getting very grainy/grey white prints with lots of horizontal streaks/lines across large white areas (photo attached). Small text prints better, but large solid white typography looks patchy and inconsistent. What I already tried: Density settings from 0 up to +5 Heavy Glossy / Heavy 1 / Heavy 2 Transfer high / fixing improvement Best quality mode Calibration + cleaning Pure #FFFFFF artwork Printing from Photoshop and PDF Still getting: grey instead of bright white horizontal streaking grainy coverage uneven toner laydown Printer: HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3302fdw Paper currently used: premium matte black cardstock (slightly textured) Questions: Is this mainly caused by the paper surface? What black cardstock actually works BEST with Ghost White Toner on HP printers? Are HP engines just bad for large white coverage compared to OKI? Any recommended settings for cleaner, more opaque white output? (attach photo) submitted by /u/wlk997 to r/printers [link] [comments]

How does CYMK printing onto foil vinyl sticker paper and applying that to black cardstock produce whites?
I saw suggestions to print foil proxies via a CYMK printer from the ET series by printing directly onto foil holographic vinyl sticker paper, then carefully applying that sticker paper to black cardstock, cutting into shape and using inners sleeves instead of lamination. What I don't understand is how does this process produce white images on the card? submitted by /u/Kalekuda to r/magicproxies [link] [comments]

Where to get 300 gsm Blue/Black core cardstock for card printing.
I have been searching for over an hour trying to find decent quality cardstock for printing my own cards for card games I have designed, and I can't find anything. I am willing to settle for 280-290 gsm blue core, but I literally cannot go higher than 300 gsm because my printer is a Canon PIXMA G7020, which has 310 gsm as a "babysit it super slowly and you might get something halfway decent", but can apparently handle 300 gsm ok, as long as you use the rear feed and don't fill the tray with more than 20 sheets (I don't plan to place more than 10-15 at a time anyways, so that's fine), and I don't have the money for a better printer. So, where can I find ideally 300 gsm black core cardstock, or 280 gsm blue core cardstock at the worst. submitted by /u/Richard_Ingalls to r/tabletopgamedesign [link] [comments]

Everything I read said that it wouldn't work. Everything I read was right. I cannot print on 330 gsm black core cardstock, not yet, anyway.
Hi All, I want to start by thanking you all here. I have learned so much from all of you, and my proxies look and feel pretty good now, thanks to you all! Well ... the ones I attached in the photo above do not look good, obviously, but I wanted to share my learning with all of you so that you can see the results of what everyone tells you not to do. OK, so, I generally make my proxies like everyone else - I use an inkjet printer to print onto photo paper, and then I laminate it and cut it. However, I have found that this method always creates proxies that are perfect in terms of thickness, but feel "floppy". If I want to get a perfect rigidity, the cards come out too thick. What I have settled on is 42lb (160 gsm) photo paper from Koala with 3 mil laminate. This comes out to 13 mil or 0.32 mm when I use my calipers. A real magic card is only slightly thinner, at 12 mil or 0.30 mm. And I haven't figured out a way to measure rigidity yet (without buying fancy equipment) but the real magic cards feel more rigid, despite being thinner, compared to mine. But, as I think a lot of us are here, I am a perfectionist, and I really enjoy this hobby. So, I bought some 330 gsm black core cardstock from frenops on ebay. It arrived quickly, and I was eager to test it out. I have three printers, all of which I use: I recently bought a used Epson Stylus Pro 3880. This is an inkjet printer that, when released 10 years ago, retailed for about $2,000. I got mine on Facebook Marketplace for $180. I have used it to print massive photos, which is what it is designed to do, but I also use it for printing proxies. Unlike most printers, this one is capable of rear-feeding, which helps with certain papers. I also have an HP Laser Jet Pro 200 color M251 NW, which I also found used on Facebook marketplace for $50. This one, unlike the lasers, cannot print borderless and so I can only fit 8 cards per page, compared to 9 cards per page on both of my ink printers. Everyone says not to get a laser printer, but honestly, this thing rocks. You can make proxies that are pretty good by using standard, 20 lb printer paper and laminating with 5 mil laminate (as opposed to the 3 mil laminate used with the inkjets). This one is perhaps the easiest, and switching out the toner is so much easier than changing the ink in my Epson Stylus 3880. If I had any advise for new people, I think it would be to stick with laser printing if you value simplicity. Finally, I have my HP Smart Tank 6001. I had this one before I started making proxies but it works great, pretty much just as good as my Epson Stylus Pro 3880, in all honesty. All of these work fine as long as you get the appropriate paper. But, like I said, I am a perfectionist, and I wanted to try using 330 gsm black core cardstock, like MPC and notMPC use. But ... take a look at the picture I included above. Even through the rear feeder in my Epson Stylus Pro 3880, this paper did not work. It won't accept the ink. And I knew this going in. I thought it would work better with the laser printer, but I think its too thick and that is why you see the flaking. Next steps for me is to bring this paper to my local library or UPS store and see if I have better luck with their printers. But I don't want to do that long term. I am like a proxy-dealer for my friends. Whenever anyone wants to test out a deck, they ask me for proxies. When I go to magic night on Thursday, I will be bringing a couple hundred cards for my friends to try out (2 full pods this week). So, I would like a printer that can handle this thick 330 gsm black core cardstock. Has anyone had success with this paper before? It feels amazing, and I don't need to laminate it, which is awesome ... but none of that matters if I can't print on it. Thanks for any help or advise that anyone has for me, and if anyone wants to ask me questions about my process or anything, please let me know! I owe it to this community to help out newer folks like this community helped me when I was new. submitted by /u/IrishKev95 to r/magicproxies [link] [comments]

330 gsm black core cardstock
I’ve been on this subreddit a while and learned a lot from so many people and got the paper from superiorpod on Etsy. It’s the 330gsm black core cardstock. My cuts aren’t great tbh but the cards look SO GOOD. I am fortunate to have access to an amazing printer at my office, I haven’t been able to replicate this quality at home no matter how hard I tried. It feels SLIGHTLY thicker than a real card but it’s barely noticeable it’s almost perfect, and while sleeved it’s basically the same. I have also tried 310 gsm, that does feel thinner than a real card. Time to play avatar aang with my boys for not $1000:) submitted by /u/ReflectionSea7603 to r/magicproxies [link] [comments]

I’ve confirmed the best supplier for black core cardstock
Hey guys I wanted to share a post about the paper that was recommended for my canon MF753CDW II last week, I bought it and couldn’t be any happier. I got 800 330gsm black core sheets for $440 and 200 sheets of 300gsm blue core. Much cheaper to buy in bulk from FrenopsLLC over superiorpod. The seller even included some foil cardstock for me to try with my UV printer I just bought. I’m impressed with the paper so far and have had beautiful results with the paper, I’ve provided some pictures of the prints I’ve been getting and couldn’t be any happier with the results. They feel identical to real cards when they are sleeved up in decks. The 300gsm blue core paper works great with the sticker paper method and feel much more like real cards sleeved up vs superiorpods 330 gsm black core paper. Feel free to dm me for questions about my print settings. My phone camera does not do these proxies justice, I realize some of the photos look a little blurry, and it’s cuz my phones camera is trash. Sorry about that. Edit: checking in 5 months later since this post still receives some engagement. I no longer have this printer, I ended up returning it (only had it for about a month) and have recently upgraded to something much better. I could not justify keeping it mainly due to the costs of toner. The cartridges it came with ran out pretty quickly, so I got 3rd party stuff and it was great at first, and then suddenly the color saturation was all off and the prints were coming out really shitty. On top of that the paper started to jam continuously, and it was just super frustrating. Not only that but it already took a really long time to print a full deck as is, since the printer would have to heat up and cool down between printing a single sheet. Overall this is not the greatest method for proxy making and pretty expensive. Unless you an afford the OEM toner it’s not worth it. However I still stand by the paper supplier I mentioned in my post initially. submitted by /u/BerryPsychological75 to r/magicproxies [link] [comments]

Black Core cardstock vs regular cardstock
Hi all. I have my printer (ET-2800) and will use the Koala Semi Gloss paper to stick on the cardstock as my chosen method without lamination. My question is on the card stock. I see the recommendation of Black Core 300 gsm from SuperiorPod on Etsy, but I'm in Canada and shipping is $55 for standard shipping. $130 all in for 100 sheets makes me apprehensive. Is Black Core that much better than the 300 gsm I can get at Michaels? Can someone share their experience between the two of them? submitted by /u/Darkest_Rahl to r/magicproxies [link] [comments]

DIY 12mil 300GSM Black Core Inkjet Cardstock
Hey everyone, long time no see. I made a paper testing post awhile back and since then I went spiraling down the rabbit hole in pursuit of creating a true cored Inkjet printable cardstock with materials that could be easily accessed by everyday consumers. Today I get to present my first success after three months of testing and research! 12 mil 300gsm black core double-sided Inkjet printable cardstock. My goal is 11.5mil, 300gsm to account for a varnish to bring it up to the final 12mil, 320gsm MTG spec. Still need to mess with it to shave off that last .5mil. With some adjustments you can achieve 12mil 320gsm without varnish for direct print to play. There is a snap, but without varnish it is easy to tell apart in a sleeve. After a light coating of polyurethane it blends in better but still doesnt feel exactly like a real card (feels great though). The core does not allow light to easily pass through the card. General durability of the card is yet to be determined. Overall print quality could be much better as I am working with an Epson WF-4830 but personally I like the image quality + text sharpness better than what the Canon Double Matte produces on my printer. This process is in its infancy and there is still so much testing that needs to be done to produce consistently high quality paper. It is a very involved, time consuming process that requires quite a few materials, some up front investment, and space. At the moment I am only able to produce 3.5”x5” sheets for single cards. I could produce larger sheets with more time but in a few days I will be out of the states for 6 months so I have to put a pause on my experimenting. In the meantime I am putting together an in depth paper documenting all of my methods, tests, fails, etc. I am down to answer some questions but I would ask you to be patient on details for the document I am writing as there is way too much to breakdown for a reddit post/comment. submitted by /u/Phlippsy to r/magicproxies [link] [comments]
