We would love to listen to our small collection of vinyls we got from my girlfriends mom after she sadly passed away. Some of the vinyls are not in the best shape but we are not the greatest audiophiles (yet?) either. What we currently have are Wharfedale Evo 4.2 speakers, which are connected to a cheap Bluetooth receiver which is also connected to our TV. So we use those speakers for TV, Spotify and now would like to also connect a turntable. To make everything more difficult, it is not really feasible to place the turntable close to the receiver. At least it would require moving all the furniture. It’s a weirdly shaped room. After some research my idea was to buy a Bluetooth turntable with build in pre amp (e.g. AT-LP3XBT) and a Wiim Amp. I have been obsessed with finding the perfect Bluetooth speaker for a while now and after testing a bunch I wanted to share my personal recommendations. The Top-Tier Beast Machines Sonos Move 2 - Wireless Portable Bluetooth Speaker - $470 Pros: Incredible sound quality that fills a room or outdoor space. It integrates perfectly with a home Sonos system via WiFi. Cons: It is very expensive and much heavier than most other portable speakers. Mid-Range All-Rounders JBL Charge 6 - Portable Waterproof & Drop-Proof Speaker - $160 Pros: It's super durable waterproof and has a massive 28-hour battery. You can also use it as a power bank to charge your phone. Cons: The sound is powerful but can be very bass-heavy which not everyone loves. Bose SoundLink Flex Bluetooth Speaker - $105 Pros: Delivers that classic balanced and clear Bose sound. It's very durable waterproof and has a versatile strap for hanging it. Cons: The battery life is good but not on the same level as the JBL or Soundcore. Budget-Friendly Options Soundcore Boom 2 Outdoor Speaker - $85 Pros: An absolute party machine for the price. It gets very loud has a built-in subwoofer and even floats in water. Cons: It's one of the larger and bulkier budget options. Music producer here, I’m used to pro headphones but wanted a pair of over-ear Bluetooth headphones for personal use. I went to Best Buy to test the Bose QC and Sony XM6 (by far the top recommended on Reddit/Youtube) and both had extremely muddy and distorted low ends. I didn’t buy either as my AirPods honestly sound better. Am I missing something or is this what all the hype is really about with these two headphones? And yes I know they can be eq’d but if they sound that bad out the box I’m not compelled. Apologies if this has been covered to death. Genuinely just wasn't sure if there was some tech I didn't understand and have had some very useful replies with things for me to look into! I'm starting to get back into physical media for music too, borh vinyl and CD. I see a lot of vinyl players with bluetooth speaker support as a main feature, but I wonder, does this not defeat the purpose of vinyl? A little bit of rage bait in the first picture, but I do think it holds some weight. I’m an HD 600 truther, and I usually use with the Aune S9c Pro DAC/amp stack. But a “return to office” call from my job had me rethinking my listening setups. I had space for a stack on my desk, and intended to just get a closed back pair of headphones. Well, I couldn’t find any I liked, and I auditioned the FT1, HD 620s, Aune SR7000, and even the DCA Noire X. None of them worked for me without huge sacrifices, so I didn’t keep any of them, and decided to just go the IEM route. I’ve liked the Tea Pro for a while, and got lucky on Head-Fi and won a giveaway for the UTWS5 2025, and I honestly can’t tell a difference wired vs. apt-X HD on my DX180 with them. I then hawked an open back HDB 630 from Bloom Audio, and lo and behold, I like it better than any of the closed backs I mentioned earlier. They do lack some in comfort/build materials/ANC, but purely from a sound perspective they’re fantastic, and the included BTD 700 dongle is a game changer if you are in the Apple ecosystem like me. They use a locking mechanism that can only be unlocked by a Bluetooth app on your phone. There is no physical key at all. Tonight I was trying to get into my apartment and it gave me errors because the app would not generate a new token. It was 25 degrees Fahrenheit and I had nowhere else to go. This is not the first time we have had issues with the app/lock either. Disturbing title, I know. I don't want to chose between my wireless setup (Sonos, AirPods...) and wired setup, because IMO they have different goals. I really enjoy listening music with this FiiO M21 paired with the AFUL Explorer or my old Meze 99Neo or fresh FiiO FT1. This is, for me, the way I like my music when I need deep feelings. Nothing really expensive, but quality at a budget over quantity or price. But I also like my AirPods when commuting, or my turntable with BT and Sonos Era's. We met up, ate breakfast and hit the road because it’s a long drive. Everything was going good, we were listening to music and just vibing and then he gets a phone call. He was driving so his phone was connected to the Bluetooth and I can see who was calling. ​ The caller id said “My Wife” and my stomach dropped. We have been dating/talking for 7 months and nothing he did gave any signs of him being married. He didn’t pick up and let it go to voicemail. My mood instantly shifts and he asks what’s wrong. I told him I saw who called and that he needed to call back them back right now. He was going on about how it was his brother and I said that’s bs because I saw clear as day that it said “my wife”. ​ He goes on his phone and shows me his recent calls and it says “Big Bro” at the time the call came through. The thing is is that when the call came through initially and he let it go to voicemail, I was staring at it in disbelief and then I looked away because I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. It’s possible that he changed the contact name really quick. I told him again to call the number and he doesn’t show me but he does call someone and I can hear a male voice on the line and we start arguing. ​ He insists he doesn’t have a wife and he doesn’t know how that happened etc. We get to the spot and I try to put it past me but I can’t let it go. If he had refused to show me his phone at all I would’ve Uber’d home. We end up leaving earlier than planned and he keeps trying to explain himself but I can’t forget the image of “my wife” calling. He put “Big Bro” on the phone, who tried to claim the car had somehow saved his contacts and that’s why I saw “My Wife” calling. Total bullshit. When I called it out, BB left the call, and I got into another argument with my ex. I told him I was done and thought that was it. Wrong. He kept sending long messages, asking to see me, and would keep calling, which I ignored—until he finally said he’d tell me the truth. At that point, that’s all I wanted because I knew what I saw and felt like I was being gaslit. So, I called. Y’all, it was a test. There’s no wife. No girlfriend. No significant other. He admitted to making it up because I had already been pulling away before all this, and he wanted to see if I really cared. He was crying, saying he didn’t mean for it to go this far. Honestly, I this point felt relieved—I had started to doubt myself, and I was right to trust my instincts. But that didn’t change anything. I ended things again. And, of course, he went right back to the long-winded messages so I blocked him. It’s over. I’m done. Moral of the story: always trust your gut. To answer some questions: - No, I’ve never been to his house because I only do that if I see something going somewhere.
