Ugh. I experienced a minor case of this. When I work it is easier to keep my boho braids in a high pony to keep my hair out of my face. Now I do low side pony tails.

So I recently just got my hair braided for the first time with a boho style. I ordered human hair off amazon. The girl braiding my hair said it was half synthetic, though. This was two days ago and now the boho hair is tangling and getting a lot of fairy knots. It’s also really frizzy. I tried spraying water mixed with conditioner on it, as well as detangling spray, hair oil, and leave in conditioner, and have tried brushing it with my fingers, a hairbrush, and a wide tooth comb, and nothing is helping. Does anyone have any tips on how to handle this? I’m biracial and had never had my hair braided before. I’m going on a cruise and opted for boho braids. I have natural curly hair and had human hair of the same curly texture added (almost 4 bundles) and I think they blend extremely well. The only thing I don’t like is the middle part. I’m more of a side part girly. I’ve heard that once they loosen up I’ll be able to move them around more freely. When do they start loosening up? Is there anything I can do to speed that part up? I had butt length boho knotless braids for 2 months. I loved them! However, throughout the entire 2 months of me having them a white female coworker of mine would frequently make comments about how long they were and would ask “aren’t they heavy?” “Doesn’t your neck hurt?” Every time she’d ask I’d say “no, I’m used to it” but she’d still bring it up and ask again at least once a week. Finally I took them out and on the day that I came into work with them out this same coworker says to me “oh you took out your braids! I bet you feel so much better! I’m not gonna lie they were hard to look at because they looked so uncomfortable” Sorry but WTF?!?!? I just needed to vent because I don’t understand why this woman was so fixated on my hair. Now don't get me wrong, these collection of styles look absolutely stunning! For the first week, I loved it, I looked like a goddess. My issue is with a simple cost benefit analysis, I can arrive at the conclusion that this shit just isn't worth it if you actually have a living to make, or want to enjoy your life. This shit is great for Instagram and tiktok! But the actual day-to-day experience is a constant shedding of hair and insane tangling. I was told the lie that human hair wouldn't tangle, and what I purchased was expensive, yet it has completely tangled within 5 weeks. I would love to know if this is a shared experience. A friend at work and an auntie of mine both got the style and have made similar complaints. If you are in New York, please recommend a good braider... Hello all, Attached are inspo pics. I currently have bleached blonde, natural hair. Right now I'm wearing blonde Iocs not pictured here, but I hate them. Truth is I just dont have the technique down pat, so they look horrendous. I'm just patiently waiting until I can afford a new style next week. Either way, since the locs are a no go, I wanted to do braids again. Simple, long blonde braids. Though everytime I simply look up "blonde braids", I get boho braids. I have nothing against boho braids, I guess I'm just confused. They look BEAUTIFUL, obviously. But I feel like I'm missing something. Wouldn't it take like, a tremendous amount of upkeep to keep it from looking like a literal nest? Because of the flyaway curly pieces. I also can't afford human hair, so I never do my styles with human hair. Is that the reason why it lasts for so long on other people? Or is it some upkeep measure that I'm missing that they're doing that doesn't have to do with human hair vs real? Looking for any and all advice from anyone who has done this style before! I am in a wedding this fall and I sent a text to the bride letting her know I will have my boho braids in at that time and won’t need my hair done at the wedding. I also let her know I could style them however she wanted me to! I know some brides like hair up or half up and I am more than happy to do any style she wants. She responded asking if I could wear my natural hair instead so that everyone can be uniform. I will be the only black bridesmaid at the wedding and feel like most styles will not be uniform by nature. My natural hair can be hard to manage at events that last all day and I didn’t want to be dealing with it. So I mentioned I would feel more comfortable in the braids. She is currently not responding but is telling others she is upset and thinks I am making it all about me. I really tried to be there for her leading up, I planned her bachelorette party, helped set up for her bridal shower and have helped with random wedding tasks. Wondering if I should just not get the braids since she is the bride and it is her day. I wanna get them done so bad but ive been second guessing… How long do they look good for? I like to have my braids in 2 months max but with the added strands of unbraided hair weaved in will they still look good even one month in? I can imagine them tangling/frizzing/fraying easily since, again, they’re unbraided and just weaved into the knot. Link to original post in the comments. Just a suggestion, if you're new to boho/goddess braids PLEASE get human hair for the curls. I didn't and this shit got so ratty and tangled I had to re-curl them twice and cut some of them out.
