RE:Booking flights - price question
The fare structure is dynamic. I booked a direct flight to Miami with American Airlines using miles on the day reservations opened (331 days prior), and it cost me 20,000 miles per passenger. Moments after completing my booking, I checked prices again and it had increased to 41,000 miles per passenger; it currently remains at 41,000 miles.

Warning: Booking.com sent my family to a bankrupt, fenced-off resort in Belgium and is refusing to pay travel damages.
Hi everyone, I wanted to share a massive cautionary tale about Booking.com and how they completely abandoned my family after sending us across three countries to a resort that has been shut down since October 2025. If you think your holiday is secure because you have a confirmed booking voucher, think again. On 10th October 2025, I booked a stay at the ‘Waterside Elegance Sky Pad’ in the ‘Your Nature’ resort in Belgium. We planned our entire holiday around this specific trip to accommodate our two young sons - including our eldest who is non-verbal and autistic. In the months leading up to the trip, Booking.com sent us multiple written assurances that the booking was "all in order," took our tourism tax payment, and even sent us a check-in voucher on 4th March 2026. We drove a total of 9 hours across three countries (UK, France, Belgium), paying for Le Shuttle crossings, fuel, and an overnight stay in France to make the drive easier on our kids. We pulled up to the resort on 3rd April 2026 at 3:20 PM only to find: The main entrance blocked off by metal construction fences. An empty car park and a "CLOSED" sign on the main door. By sheer luck, we ran into an onsite property owner who introduced us to the caretaker. The caretaker explicitly told us that the resort went into administration in October 2025. He also stated he had told Booking.com’s partners numerous times that the resort was completely closed, but they "kept sending people." We were left stranded in a foreign country with two crying, exhausted children. We had no choice but to immediately pay a fee to scramble onto a return Le Shuttle train back to the UK that same evening. While we were driving back, completely stressed out, we received an automated message from them saying: "We hope you were able to check in quickly... We wish you a vacation with the warm feeling of a home away from home." Absolutely insulting. Once we finally got back to the UK, Booking.com eventually sent an update admitting the property was unavailable. Their brilliant solution over an Easter Bank Holiday weekend? A link to rebook alternative accommodation for the same price or up to €60 more - offering us high-rise apartments. While they eventually refunded the bare accommodation cost after intense pressure, they are completely dodging our claims for the £449.94 in wasted out-of-pocket travel expenses (trains, fuel, food, and Airbnb). Our insurance company has confirmed this is an error entirely on Booking.com's part, and we have cited multiple UK law breaches to Booking.com: Section 50, Consumer Rights Act 2015: They gave explicit written assurances that the booking was secure, which we relied upon to book non-refundable travel. Section 49, Consumer Rights Act 2015: Total failure to perform services with "reasonable care and skill" by taking money and advertising a defunct resort for 6 months. Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008: Misleading omission by completely failing to identify that the resort was unavailable. We've sent numerous emails with zero meaningful progression and have had to involve my local Member of Parliament to escalate this matter. He got a swift response to say they're dealing with it but since then, replies have been slow and it's clear they're playing delay tactics. They even waited 3 weeks from one email before replying to ask for something we'd already sent them the same day they asked for it. Booking.com does not verify their listings, ignores onsite caretakers telling them a resort is closed, takes your money anyway, and leaves you stranded hundreds of miles from home without paying a penny for the wasted travel expenses they caused. Avoid them. UPDATE: Wow, I wasn't expecting this level of response when I posted. I genuinely appreciate all the comments, advice, and messages. We’ve been given some brilliant new angles on how to approach this, including formal legal routes, financial options, and even national newspapers (some of whom we've reached out to, and others who have actually reached out to us!). To address a few comments asking why we turned right back around: as mentioned, our eldest son is autistic and non-verbal. It takes an immense amount of time, routine, and care to prepare him for a trip or a new environment. When everything collapsed at the gates, the safest and best option for our family’s well-being was to simply return home to the UK. While other travelers might have scrambled for a backup hotel, weighing up our specific situation meant this was the only right choice. It also legally mitigated our losses and stopped us from risking even more money on an emergency booking we didn’t want. Just to add too, when we booked and even after we returned, the Google listing was still live and accepting reviews (which I left to warn others). Their website was and still is up and running. Google has since been updated and reviews turned off. I would also add that we had visited the location before so knew it existed. We’ve learned a costly lesson, and Booking.com will never see a single penny from our family again. I'll keep you all updated as the legal/media side progresses! LATEST UPDATE Thanks again to everyone who gave us advice and routes to pursue. Booking.com finally got back to us after our MP and a major UK newspaper reached out to them. They are not budging. They don't feel they've done anything wrong and offered us €150 as a "final goodwill gesture." They didn't even wait for us to reply before transferring it into our account as credit. Yep, you read that right. Not even an actual refund. Just credit we would be forced to use with them again. We are still exploring our options, but in light of their arrogance and complete lack of interest in a fair resolution, we have now taken steps to pursue the legal route. The story is now all over the internet after being featured on a number of news sites (including in Europe), so hopefully, it will at least serve as a warning to others. If you read this, please think very long and hard before booking via Booking.com. You have absolutely no protection, and we have never experienced worse customer service. They will look after themselves first, their "accommodation providers" second, and the customers who actually fund their business come a very distant third. Final update - Maybe Hey everyone, back with what is unfortunately my final update for a while on my saga with Booking.com. I sent a final, detailed email outlining exactly how badly they messed up and how much distress this caused my family. Well, Sandra the "Senior Guest Specialist" finally got back to me, and it is a masterclass in corporate brick-walling. Their response consisted of: They are "very sorry" I feel strongly about this (classic non-apology). Their position remains completely unchanged. The €150 goodwill credit is all I'm getting, take it or leave it. They acknowledged that I'm escalating this to outside regulatory bodies and basically said, "Have your people call our people." The kicker: "This decision is final and no further correspondence will be entered into." They have officially closed the door, blocked my number and will move on with their shoddy services. Here is the exact email text if you want to read the corporate speak for yourself: "As previously explained, we have carefully reviewed the circumstances of your case, and Booking.com’s final position remains unchanged... While I appreciate this is not the response you were seeking, this decision is final and no further correspondence will be entered into regarding this matter." What's Next? They know exactly what they are doing by wearing customers down until we just give up. They know (because I'm clearly not the only one) that they make it as hard as possible to pursue them through courts. The fact that two major newspapers from both the UK and Europe have featured this story and Booking.com don't care reflects their arrogance and attitude. You are nearly their cash flow. You're lining their pockets and they don't care what happens to you in the process. While they might think this is the end of the road because they refuse to reply to me, I am still moving forward with escalating this to the consumer protection bodies I mentioned to them. All the paperwork is sent over and I will continue until there is no other line of enquiry to take. If Booking.com wants to be stubborn, they can explain their logic to an ombudsman, although, they know very well how they can hide behind T&C's to make this as difficult as possible. A massive thank you to everyone in this community who gave advice, validated my feelings on their actions and negligence, and helped me draft my responses. The moral of the story: Avoid Booking.com like the plague. If anything goes wrong, you are entirely on your own, and Sandra the "Senior Specialist" will eventually just corporate-ghost you. Stay safe out there, travelers. Learn the lesson before you make our same mistake and get bitten. Do not use Booking.com. How to Save 20% or more on Booking.com (works worldwide)
I’ve seen so many people asking about Booking.com discounts, promo codes, coupons, and vouchers lately. Since I’ve been working with them since 2015, there are a few tricks I’ve learned over the years that are actually worth knowing. ⚠️ WARNING: this is going to be a long post. So if you’re busy right now, save it for later, because it might save you enough to splurge on something fun during your trip. First things first: real Booking.com promo codes are actually very rare. Discounts and coupons are not really part of the company’s business model. But the good news is that there are still several legitimate ways to get lower prices on hotels, hostels, resorts, apartments, and basically every kind of accommodation. 1. Book through your phone Seriously, it’s that simple. Some deals only appear on the mobile version of the site or app. Even if booking on a computer feels easier, always check the prices on your phone too. In many cases, they’re cheaper. 2. Join the Genius loyalty program Most people already know this one, but it’s still worth mentioning because a lot of travelers don’t use it properly. Genius is Booking.com’s official loyalty program, and it offers progressive discounts that get better over time. The best part is that it’s pretty easy to level up. Level 1: 10% off Level 2: 10–15% off + free breakfast and room upgrades when available Level 3: 10–20% off + free breakfast, room upgrades when available, and priority customer support If you travel even a couple of times per year, you can unlock better perks pretty quickly. 3. New user discounts Didn’t find anything good with Genius? Try creating a new account with a different email address. Booking sometimes gives exclusive discounts to new users, especially on selected properties. Yes, starting over with another account can be a little annoying, but if you’re trying to get the absolute lowest price possible, it may be worth testing. 4. Check the seasonal and holiday deals page Out of all the hacks on this list, this is probably the least known one. Booking.com has a hidden deals page with discounts ranging from 15% to 45%. You’ll find everything from last-minute offers to newly listed hotels trying to get their first reviews, off-season deals, holiday promotions, and other limited-time offers that don’t always show up in regular searches. There’s another interesting detail here: you can change the country version of the page to see regional discounts. For example, if you live in the United States but you’re traveling to Brazil, you can switch the country at the top of the page and check deals created specifically for Brazilian users. Sometimes the prices and promotions are completely different. Booking.com deals and discounts 5. Booking matches lower prices This one surprises a lot of people. If you book a property through Booking.com and later find the exact same accommodation, under the exact same conditions and dates, for a lower price somewhere else, they may refund the difference. You’ll need to send customer support a screenshot and the link showing the cheaper rate so they can review it. So with all these different ways to save money, spending hours searching for random Booking.com coupon codes online is just a waste of time. If you know any other tricks, feel free to share them here too. Good travelers don’t gatekeep. 😎✈️ submitted by /u/giselerocha to r/LowestPriceDeals [link] [comments]

Booking test BOTS!!!!
I went to book my test this morning and omg there was tests in my area after months of looking!!! and there was several on different days. As soon as I clicked a date and then time I got to the next page you have 15 minutes to pay for your test. Then BAM sorry there are no available tests in your area. In the space of 30secs-1 minute every test for my area was sold and gone. After a bit of frustration I realised its probably the 'bots' and today is the last day 'they can be used' I am hoping next week I will finally be able to actually book one for my area. submitted by /u/Arielstelescope to r/LearnerDriverUK [link] [comments]

Booking.com discounts? Coupons?
Hey everyone, We’ve been seeing a lot of repeat posts asking about Booking.com discounts, coupons, promo codes, and vouchers — so we’re grouping everything into this single thread. Booking.com works a bit differently compared to typical “enter a code” platforms. Most discounts aren’t from public coupon codes, but are built into the platform itself. 📌 Quick notes Booking.com rarely uses traditional promo or coupon codes Most discounts come from the Genius loyalty program Prices can vary based on account, location, and timing Some deals are app-only or account-specific You might still come across “Booking.com coupon codes” online, but many are outdated, misleading, or simply not valid anymore. If you’ve found a real discount, voucher, or working promo method, feel free to share it here so others can benefit. Duplicate threads about Booking.com coupons or discounts may be removed to keep things clean. submitted by /u/AutoModerator to r/GetADiscount [link] [comments]

Booking.com promo codes and discounts?
Hey everyone, I’m about to book a trip and was wondering if anyone has a working Booking promo code, discount code or coupon right now? I’ve been searching around but most of the Booking com promo codes I find seem expired or don’t actually apply at checkout 😅. Are there any legit ways to get a discount? Maybe student deals, app-only coupons or email sign up offers? Also: - Do Booking com coupons even exist regularly? - Is Genius worth it for discounts? - Any tricks to stack a discount code + cashback? Would really appreciate any tips or current Booking com discount codes that actually work 🙏 Thanks! submitted by /u/Any-Prior9140 to r/LowestPriceDeals [link] [comments]

AITA for booking a busy pickleball court where nobody pays?
Y’all I am *genuinely* confused about this. There’s this popular park with 6 pickleball courts. It was my first time playing there and last week my friends and I decided we were gonna go and play. I reserved a court for 2h and didn’t think anything of it. That place is always packed so I was kinda wondering why all the courts were available to book but assumed it was because I was booking it 1 week in advance and most people must book it the day before or so. This morning we got there right on time. The people playing on the court we reserved were done exactly at the time we were meant to start so it all seemed very normal to me. After a while a couple friends of ours arrived and we took a break to say hi to them, and this is when it went south. Some other group just walked onto our court and were like ok our turn! I was like “oh we have this booked until 1PM!” and 3 out of the 4 ppl started to walk away without saying anything. The 4th guy however looked at me and asked “seriously? you reserved on a saturday morning?!” and I, very confused why he seemed so mad, so said yes and asked him why. Without any explanation the guy just says “that’s an asshole move” and walked away kinda pissed off. It honestly gave me a little bit of anxiety because I couldn’t tell why. About 40 min go by and this older man asks me “did you reserve this court?” in also a kind of pissed off tone. I again confirmed and he said “I didn’t even know you could book it on saturdays” and then asked under what name. I told him my name and he grabbed his phone to go check that what I was saying was true. Apparently (we learned this later) people just line up to play and whenever a game is done the etiquette is that you give up the court and go back in line until it’s your turn again. However none of these people are paying to play, they’re basically using the public city courts for free. Here’s the kicker though - the city is closing down 36 pickleball courts and there’s a petition to keep them open. I assume that if everyone paid for them the city wouldn’t actually be closing them down because they’d basically pay for themselves, no? Anyway, I’m very confused by this whole interaction today. So, am I the asshole? submitted by /u/in_berlin to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

Brother accusing me of booking up (?) with his gf
M29; my 31M brother, who I’m very close to, has been dating a girl for a few months. Neither I nor the rest of the family has met her yet. My bro just randomly texted me this out of the blue with no other context. Hope it goes without saying here, but I’ve never met his gf, have never been to her place and definitely have not been with her behind his back or anything. I immediately responded ofc, just saying how confused I am? And he said “all good, continue to deny it. I honestly respect it”. I’m just at a loss for words. Literally my best friend in the world. My first thought is talk to our parents about it but anything else I can do here? submitted by /u/steve-94728-3957 to r/whatdoIdo [link] [comments]

How to save 30% on Booking.com every time when getting a hotel
I’m the guy who will drive 20 minutes out of town for a hotel that’s $8 cheaper after taxes… and then brag about it for weeks. Ater years of trial, error, and way too many browser tabs, here’s what works. Create an account Yeah, just sign up. Boom, you’re a “Genius” now and get 10% off. The blue Genius logo shows where it applies. Level 2 (after 5 stays in 2 years) bumps it to 15% + free breakfast/upgrades on some places. Level 3 = up to 20%. Log in EVERY time Logged in price vs incognito can differ by 10-30%. Test both. Also try the app vs desktop, although its usually more expensive on the app, since they assume you're booking in a hurry. They’re definitely playing 4D chess with their pricing algorithms. Stack the absolute crap out of everything Genius discount (auto) Wallet credits (from credit cards or past bookings) Use a checkout promo code (list below) Cash back offers like Rakuten/TopCashback Hunt the deals Filter by "Genius discounts only" Late Escape Deals section have 15 - 40% off spontaneous trips "Deals" tab early bookings often 20-30% off Sort by price, then zoom out the map a little. The suburbs are where the real bargains hide. Always book refundable to 'price-match' yourself Most bookings have free cancellation. Set a reminder 1-2 weeks out and 48h before. Prices change all the time, keep checking. Cancel and rebook the same room once it's cheaper. I’ve done this 4 times on one trip and turned a $180/night into $89. Yes I have no life. Message the property directly after booking “Hi, looking forward to my stay! Any chance of to get an upgraded room?” Sometimes it's all it takes to get that ocean view. just how bad is Booking.com?
I've been using booking.com for years and increasingly I have bizarre situations with them. This year I already had twice where after I booked some place and on the day of my arrival I was informed by Booking.com that the condition of my booking has been "updated", meaning the price has increased, AFTER the booking was confirmed days ago. I contacted their customer support and they did nothing. Then 2 days ago I unexpected needed to stay one night, as it was too late for me to drive home, I booked some room on booking.com for the night, the booking was not refundable but I was sure I would stay. But then I got a message from the property that I need to make a bank transfer to them about 300% the booking price as a "deposit", otherwise they refuse to check me in. I was already walking toward the place by that time. I was very unwilling to make a bank transfer of not a small amount of money outside Booking.com, before I could even see the room, so I refused. The property also refused to cancel the booking and said that's not refundable. After checking their reviews on google map, it turns out I'm not the first person got scammed in this way. People who paid the deposit were complaining that the property found random reason to deduct money from the deposit and is not returning the full amount. So either way the customer loses money. I contacted booking.com customer support, and their response is that "it's the property's policy" and it is written in their fine print and that I should have paid the deposit as it will surely be returned to me. So basically they see no problem of such practice. Considering they do take their cut for each booking, it's not hard to see why. But really, i need to find an alternative to booking.com, this bussiness is beyound shady and irresponsible at this point. submitted by /u/Quco2017 to r/travel [link] [comments]

Unpopular opinion: booking.com is great
Hey guys, I have read so many negative posts and comments on booking.com on here that today, after a really great experience with them, I wanted to share a different view. (And just before anyone asks: NO, I am not a bot, I do not work for them, I do not have anything to gain from them by posting this.) For background: my partner and I have been using booking.com exclusively for the past two+ years (approx 30 hotel reservations in that time). Thanks to that, we have 'genius level 3' which affords us with discounts as well as 'priority assistance' by support. Today we had to contact them via phone regarding two issues (no wait time on hotline): 1) for a booking that we made and cancelled within the cancellation period. Despite us receiving a cancellation confirmation via eMail, the full price was deducted from our credit card. Solution: while on the phone with us, the support agent called the safari lodge in South Africa and they confirmed they would be refunding our money immediately. 2) another safari accommodation we booked and where the deposit was automatically taken off our credit card via booking.com contacted us via eMail to finalise the full payment. We were unsure if this is a scam or a possible risk of money being paid twice, once from us directly and then again via bookingcom from our credit card. Solution: bookingcom agent confirmed this was legit from the lodging, it was a very highly rated and trustworthy company and we can pay them directly with peace of mind. So yeah, while I understand and commiserate people have had bad experiences, I also wanted to point out that it is not all bad. Of course, I would not book flights on that website (or other third parties), so my experience is only around accommodation booking. submitted by /u/adventu_Rena to r/travel [link] [comments]

I'll never use booking.com ever again - and you should not either
Just a rant - sorry. We booked a hotel for the total solar eclipse way ahead of time (December 17th). The hotel called me a month before the eclipse (outside of booking.com communication channels) and requested that I approve a date change (because they just realized they are overbooked). Obviously to a date outside the eclipse. I declined. They send me an email through the booking.com system with a one-click "please confirm if you’d like to cancel this booking" link, followed immediately with a "YOUR ROOM RESERVATION HAS BEEN CANCELLED". I called the hotel to complain and they told me to contact booking.com - the hotel claimed it's the mistake of booking.com because they advertised a wrong rate. So I contacted booking.com - and I was not prepared for how terrible their customer support is. It took me hours on the phone, multiple managers and superviors, emails and call backs to finally reach someone who was "allowed" to make a decision on the case. I was told on the phone that I can book a new hotel of the same class, and booking.com will refund the difference in price. Just a month out from the solar eclipse, any other hotel was obviously way more expensive now - over $300 more expensive to be exact. This was communicated to booking.com multiple times. And this was acknoledge by booking.com multiple times on the phone. Because of the messy experience over the few days with their customer support, I requested the resolution in writing. I was told I will receive an email confirmation and we ended the call. Again, I was not prepared for how terrible their customer support is. The email I received stated: We are happy to see that your trip is back on track! We can work on a refund for the price difference of your stay, up to a maximum of 25 EUR. I called them again, for the 20th time (not exaggurating) - and I still feel bad for the poor representative that day. It ended up being a 3 hour call of "No call backs. No more bullshitting. Get whomever you need on the phone to sort this shit out now." ... which actually worked, which is the saddest part of the story. I don't want to be rough and rude to people to arrive at a resolution. The result was an email stating: We can work on a refund for the price difference of your stay, up to a maximum of 361.69 USD. All you need to do is send us the invoice for your alternative accommodation. So I did. 4 weeks ago, just a week after the eclipse, I forwarded the $333.50 invoce via a response to the email I received from booking.com, which had a custom support sender address linked to my account, booking reference in the subject, everything. I gave them a May 1st due date to process the refund. And waited. To no avail. No response. No refund. So I called them. And again I was unprepared for how shitty they are. Call 1: They (pretended to?) be unable to hear me and hung up. Call 2: Friendly, to the point, understood the issue, claimed they never received anything, gave me a new email address to send documents to. I did, they acknoledged that my email was received, I asked for a one-liner in response to confirm in writing that the email was received. "absolutely, give me just a minute" was followed by 30 minutes of silence and the call got disconnected. No email was received. Call 3: They (pretended to?) be unable to understand what my issue was, claimed they have to get in contact with the refunds department, I was placed on hold music mid sentence, and the call was disconnected 20 minutes later. Call 4: Friendly, request for a supervisor was declined because she wanted to try and help me first, took a bit more time to make them understand the issue, but in the end she said she will be able to send me an email confirmation and asked if she can put me on hold - I declined, because I was hung up on two times tonight while being on hold. So I listened to her typing for 20 minutes. She told me that she sent the email to me and wanted to disconnect the call. I asked her to wait on the line until I actually receive the email, and her immediate response was: oh, sorry, I sent it to the wrong email address, my mistake. She corrected her mistake(?) and I received the email saying "We received your latest email regarding the documents for the refund." ...and how was your evening? You only learn how good a company is if things go wrong. The way booking.com handled issues tells me that I will never book anything through them ever again. Be warned. submitted by /u/gulbrillo to r/travel [link] [comments]
