Well, I thought addressing the livewell pump would be complicated. Fortunately, I got lucky. I removed the pump from its housing and saw that it was clogged by a little bit of braided fishing line. I cleared away the braid, reset the breaker, and all was well. I also put a little dielectric grease in the Deutsch connection.

I went into a tackle shop thinking i'll just grab fishing line quick and go. left standing there like… why are there like 3 main types and they all feel the same in my hand 😅 mono was what the guy first pushed on me. said it's basic, forgiving, stretches a bit so you don't mess up every hook set. fluoro was "invisible underwater" apparently. sounds good but it felt a bit stiff when I handled it and a bit more expensive than I expected. braid felt completely different tho. super thin but strong, like way stronger than it looks. but no stretch at all so I guess you actually feel everything, good and bad. honestly the more he explained the more I realized it's not really "which is best." it's just what you're doing that day. Hello. Been trying to start fishing lately with family. Where we go our main target is Pike, however we also get bass quite frequently, as well as crappies, perch and small fish. I have 15lb braid and was wondering what you suggest as a leader for northern pike? Currently we just use steel wire but I often see everyone suggest braided line with a fluo leader. Hey guys looking to get out fishing this weekend and trying to hook into some pike. Right now I have a medium heavy rod spooled up with 40lb braid (suffix 832). I am looking to tie on a leader. I do have a couple steel leaders but I’ve heard many good things about using fluorocarbon as leader. I’m thinking 30lb flouro, would this be a good combo? One of the best tools for perch fishing is fluorocarbon line, for a big variety of different techniques. The most benefits come from slack line presentations, such as jerkbaits, free rig, backslide rig or soft jerkbait presentations. The sinking line will pick up subtle bites even on slack, which then transfers through to your rod. Braid or mono won’t do that. I feel like there’s a lack of people really trying this line in most of Europe. I’ve fished fluoro since 2019 and have really learned its benefits. Nowadays, I think I have 7 different perch combos with fluoro, 12 with braided line and 2 with monofilament line, so I distribute it like that. Different lines for different baits. There are big benefits for certain techniques. Give it a try on one of your combos if you haven’t yet. Think more bass fishing!
