This is the stupidest post I have ever had to make but here we are. Happened as the title says, there was a break in the clock face before but he cut a bigger opening into the clock and sprayed bug spray in the clock hole to kill a gnat while I was at work. The stove top burners still work but the oven won't turn on. We live with his cousins and they're expecting us to pay for a whole new oven if I can't fix it. What do we think the safest bug spray is- specifically mosquitos? I’ve avoided it to this point for my 1.5 year old by not letting her be out at dusk and using mosquito nets on her stroller if she is but we will be taking a trip to key west soon and I feel like I probably should actually put something on her down there. I’m not a superrr crunchy gal but bug sprays kind of eek me out. I’m open to someone changing my mind. Someone in my area died of EEE recently so obviously… big spray is the preferable choice. Looking for advice on daycare and bug sprays. I’ve noticed my 2.5yo has had some mosquito bites lately so we asked the daycare and they said they do have mosquitoes in the yard. They won’t let us use the bug repellent stickers because some younger kids could put them in their mouths. They also won’t apply bug spray so we’d have to put it on in the morning before drop off. I’ve never used bug spray on him before and I’m not super comfortable with spraying chemicals on him daily but I know there has been West Nile in our area and I want to protect him. From what I’ve read, bug spray needs to be reapplied to be effective and they’re outside until around 5pm when I pick him up so that’s way too long for the 8am bug spray to still be working. What would you do? Would you push for them to allow the stickers or spray him? The stickers seem like a better option for the daycare too since it wouldn’t impact the other children (I guess a kid putting one in their mouth isn’t completely unheard of but he’s in the toddler room). Has anyone used DEET daily on their toddlers before? I usually follow the AAP advice and they say to weigh the risk of illness against spraying the child with chemicals, how do I possibly do that? If it was just once in a while I’d be more comfortable with DEET but this would be every single weekday plus it needs to be reapplied. We use a thermacell at home, should I try to buy the daycare a thermacell (assuming they’d even use it)?
