TIL author Chuck Palahniuk came up with the idea to write Fight Club after getting beat up on a camping trip when he asked other campers to turn their music down. When he returned to work bruised and swollen, his co-workers avoided asking him what had happened on the camping trip.

[Diario SPORT] Marcus Rashford was unable to say goodbye to the Spotify Camp Nou due to discomfort suffered during the Barça-Betis match — The initial idea was for the Briton to play a few minutes at the end, but discomfort cut short what could have been his last match in front of Barcelona fans.

I noticed that even some 3rd and 4th graders can't tie their shoelaces. What other basic life skills that can be easily taught to kids, aren't being taught by their parents? Could be eye contact, not speaking in whispers, saying 'thank you' and 'you're welcome.' Thinking of ideas for summer camp.

Christian camp and a rock concert? I had an idea for face paint!
So, I was at Christian camp (age 16) and we had a bunch of Christian rock band to come and play for us. I had the bright idea to paint a a huge cross all over my face, and what really solidifies this blunder is the fact that I was nearsighted so I had to wear glasses the whole time (they are in my hand as I pose for the photo) submitted by /u/MoozeRiver to r/blunderyears [link] [comments]

What are your favorite snacks and food to bring to a camping festival? (hot or cold food ideas)
I want to spice things up from the usual eggs or hot dogs. Tell me your must have snacks and meals for a camping fest that are delicious! Bonus points if it’s healthy (but doesn’t have to be). submitted by /u/taintmonster831 to r/festivals [link] [comments]

Most memorable meal you've had while camping?
Planning a camping bachelor trip. The groom and I love cooking together, and usually when we camp we cook ribeyes... but I'm trying to come up with something truly epic for this trip and would love some inspiration! The current idea is to roast a piglet on a spit over the course of the day - I think it'd be pretty cool, and damn tasty, but I've never done it before. Build-your-own kebabs are my backup option, or some really excellent steaks, but I'm looking for something more unique than that... something we haven't done before and might not otherwise. So, would love to hear your favorite/most interesting meals you've had while camping - TIA! Photo unrelated: my go-to camping breakfast, tater tots and sausage/egg/cheese. submitted by /u/mishmishbinks to r/camping [link] [comments]

Why did the Nazis do so much record keeping at the concentration camps of the whole idea was to kill people/eliminate a population?
I follow the Auschwitz facebook page and other Holocaust museums and they post the intake pictures of the prisoners along as their fate, job, etc. Why was the is all kept so meticulously? Especially since they knew they could have been prosecuted for all of it if they lost the war. *Please no hate. I just always wondered this ever since I started WWII books way back in middle school. submitted by /u/MarchKick to r/NoStupidQuestions [link] [comments]

What are your go-to camping meals?
I am new to camping and thinking of doing my first trip with my dad this year. We’ve glamped and also done cottages, but not camping yet. It would a short trip for only a few days. We have a gas stove and can bring a pot and a pan. I have some ideas for meals from friends and research, but wanted to hear feedback here. What do you usually pack/prep for your trip? submitted by /u/lwhc92 to r/camping [link] [comments]

Tried to talk my husband in to getting a second cat. He wasn't keen on the idea. Then we went camping and this handsome fella found us and camped with us our entire stay. When the campsite owner said he was a stray and been hanging around for months. I knew he was coming home with us! Meet Rufus.

I like the idea of this becoming a bit of a movement. I just had my first camping trip in years. It might be a little fictional in the history department. But the point was to be inspirational. Can we find a catchy hashtag?
