I have been a user of Cera Ve and Cetaphil facewash and moisturizer for years. But recently saw articles online saying that 6 products of CeraVe have been labeled Carcinogen causing due to a certain ingredient in them, obviously this scares me. Update, we bought a bottle of the foaming cetaphil face wash to last us until we can find an alternative. My husband has struggled with severe eczema mostly on his hands his whole life. It mostly stays away with clobetasol cream, however since my husband works in a bakery with flour and harsh chemicals to clean up afterwards, it’s getting harder to manage. His dermatologist recommends he brings his own hand wash with him to work, and recommended cetaphil moisturizing face wash. our only issue is that cost $10 and isn’t a very big bottle. considering we’re expecting a baby in two months we can’t afford to throw away money like that. I was just wondering if there are any cheaper alternatives to cetaphil? Hi! I am trying to put together a skincare routine for my combination, reactive, sensitive, dehydrated, non-acne-prone skin. I am in my thirties and I have never had a skincare routine because products haven't worked for me—my pores clog very easily, and my skin irritates easily too. I can't even shampoo in the shower anymore (this wasn't always like this; maybe my skin barrier is damaged). However, I am now in a position to afford trying several products (albeit cheap ones), so I am doing research again. Can someone recommend a cheap, very basic moisturizer and face wash for my sensitive skin. Unfortunately, since I have never had a skincare routine, I don't have much experience with ingredients and lack information, but I have tried the following products. Hi all! Long story short: the past year, I developed very severe acne and my skin became super sensitive. However, I can’t go on accutane bc of other meds I’m on, so I’m on 0.05 tretinoin. It’s been going fine, but I’ve realized no face wash works for me now (this started before the tretinoin, so I don’t think it’s related). Cerave breaks me out BAD, and vanicream, cetaphil, and la roche posay all make my skin extremely red and itchy. Idk what’s going on bc I’ve never had a problem before. I just need a very gentle face wash that will not break me out or upset my skin. Also, I’m not having any problems with any of the moisturizers, just cleansers. Any recommendations??? My go-to cheap face soap has gotten harder to find, and suddenly it seems like there are no cheap kinds of face wash at the supermarket. We're talking $12 for one of those small squeeze bottles! I'm working on a vegetable farm currently, so not too much grease or motor oil, but a nice film of dust and mud every day, especially on my face. I have "nicer" soaps, lotions, exfoliants etc ... But what about a cheap morning-and-night face wash? I'm not a fan of Cetaphil or super gentle soaps, but looking for something refreshing and above all can get in a big bottle!!! So after we played Holi today, I went to the bathroom to take a shower and found my wife's cleanser on the floor. Until that moment, I didn't know what cleanser meant. I thought it was shampoo, but I read the label carefully, and it mentioned something related to skin, like "gentle on skin, moisturizes skin." So I thought it was body wash and used it. Those of you who have used body wash without a loofah must know that it won't produce good lather, so I thought the lack of lather was because I wasn't using a loofah. I happily used the nice bottle and took my shower. And when I came out, I told my wife, "This Cetaphil body wash doesn't lather well." Oh dude, the look on her face was priceless. I’m looking for a cleanser that I can buy at Chemist Warehouse, Priceline etc. I used to use Estée Lauder foaming wash which was amazing for my oily skin. But not only can imo longer afford it but I have joined the boycott. This also means Ordinary Range is out. I tried Cetaphil “gentle cleanser” but I hate it. Title. After going through a period of very high stress, I've developed a ton of new sensitivities that I dont know how to navigate. I cant use several makeup and skincare products which used to be fine for me. For example, the setting spray i used to have no issue with now burns immediately after applying. Every face wash i try causes a burning sensation, and my face becomes bright red, hot, and very irritated. Ive tried cetaphil, spectro, the ordinary glycolipid cleanser, the ordinary squalane cleanser, skin 1004 centella cleanser, la roche posay effaclar foaming gel, and bonnyhill rice foam cleanser, and they all do this. Ive been to an allergist, unfortunately she acted like i was wasting her time the entire session, and refused to test me. Said she cant do testing since its contact dermatitis and not a true allergy, and dermatologists will only test for metal allergies (which im fairly confident isnt true). Dove baby wash doesnt seem to cause the reaction (at least not to the extreme that everything else does), but is very drying and worsens my acne. Hi, everyone. I have tried literally every face wash you can think of, from expensive brands to not do expensive ones. I live in Europe, Ireland to be exact, so I can't get my hands on the brands available in America. I have tried CeraVe, Cetaphil, Aveeno, La Roche Posay just to name a few. Also, I even tried using Miccelar water from different brands, but all caused different reactions. I stopped using anything on my face and only wash with plain water, but that isn't healthy in my opinion, especially for me who has oily skin. I just feel dirty and weird by not washing my face with anything apart from water only. I've been thinking a lot lately about moments in my life where I truly fucked up. I've wanted to offer up something that at least had a learned lesson attached to it, for educational purposes. It finally hit me today - and after texting my mother for 20 year old photos to confirm the event, I can now share the story of how I almost killed myself with Clearasil. At 13, I faced some pretty serious acne. I'd suffered with since probably late 10 / early 11, and by 13 I'd pretty much fallen in to a normal routine before bed. Grab the cream, dab my face in the worst spots with it, shrug and hit the sack. Pretty standard stuff for most kids, and absolutely not what you're supposed to do with the creams in most situations. This particular night, nothing was out of the ordinary... save for the fact I was using a new cream. Being 13, I was still pretty dependent on my mom for... well, basically everything, so she had grabbed it from the store for me and put it upstairs in the bathroom. Regardless of the fact that it was a new cream than the one I was used to, I very much ignored the directions and just stuck to the routine. Dab the bad spots, shrug and hit the sack. Keep in mind, I did not put that much on, and I only dabbed the spots that seemed "bad" in that moment. This wasn't something I smeared all over my face at all. When I woke up the next morning, I had difficulty opening my eyes. I thought maybe I had a bad case of the morning crusties, but this was exceptional. Additionally, I couldn't really breathe all that well - and when I tried to yell out to my mom, I could barely open my mouth! I got up out of bed and hobbled across the hall to my parents room, nudging the door open and doing my best to scout around for my mom with the one eye I could barely open. She woke up and looked over and, no joke, literally screamed when she saw me. My initial reaction was that she was screaming out of horror of what had happened to me, but she later admitted that it was moreso a shock factor knee-jerk just-woke-up reaction of thinking some variant of Sloth from The Goonies had broken in to the house to kill us all. Thankfully my fashionable night-time t-shirt covered in cartoon pigs reminded her it was me. Turns out, this was not your normal face cream - this was very specifically a face WASH, and you're supposed to WASH THIS SHIT OFF after a moment or two. This was all news to me, I'd never known of a difference. Creams were creams - bacitracin, cortizone, neo sporin, clearasil (of different varities) - all of these were usually stuff I'd put on and just leave on indefinitely. The whole, apply and wash off shortly after idea was totally fresh to me. My entire face was fucked. Left side had swollen out a good four or five times it's normal size. I've linked pictures down below so you can see for yourself, and I promise the 20 year old picture doesn't do the aftermath any justice. It was bad. Bad enough that the doctor I went to told me I was lucky I didn't have acne on my neck, or I very well may be dead. The entire left side of my face ached in pain, and was scaled over with a very unpleasant crust. This had a permanent effect on me as well, strangely enough. After this event, I could no longer use cortizone creams or any variant of Clearasil whatsoever. Application on my skin caused rash-like symptoms and lots of itching. As a kid that had spent the last six summers at a camp, trust me when I say I was very accustomed to cortizone up until that point. So yeah... if you're young enough to still be using acne medications, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER. And if you're a parent with teenage kids using creams on their acne, MAKE SURE THEY'RE FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER. Show em the picture of me down below if they don't believe it can fuck you up. The Before and After photos TLDR: TIFU by not washing Clearasil cream off my face before bed, and woke up looking like the Elephant Boy. EDIT: As pointed out in comments, this was clearly some sort of bad allergic reaction to the cream. I should have talked more about that, I guess my only point in specifically mentioning the whole face wash vs face leave-on cream was to identify that the ingredients can be different. And also, even being allergic, had I NOT left it on overnight it wouldn't have been anything like this.
