I'll preface with the fact I have an Xbox Series X, Switch 2, and PS5. I tried a friends handheld using cloud gaming and was honestly blown away by how well it worked. It made me try it on my iPhone and same results. Since then I've sold the Xbox Series X and bought a Mangmi Pocket Max. It's an insane technology, maybe I'm just behind the times. I have an old Acer laptop from 2019 and while it had it's hiccups I was still shocked by how minimal the latency felt. I could absolutely play through single player games (not ideal) on it without any major complaints. I can't imagine playing any competitive shooters or MLB the Show with cloud gaming but I'm excited to play a lot of casual single player games from the cloud and/remote play. Since I've gotten older and starting a family, I was relegated to gaming in my office. Excited to be able to play handheld on the couch again. Spread the message and don't let short-term fun fool you. Imagine not being able to afford a PC either for work or fun/gaming. And imagine not owing your PC at all. In India, things will be far worse as it already is. one of the primary example is Nvidia's GE. And if cloud gaming continues to get support, no one will own a PC, even those who want it completely for work. Let that digest for a second. Also want to add remember how gaming amd kovies used to be. You own physical media and you can watch it anytime with no sudden rights expired or only watchable on 1 device. PC will become like that. I have game pass ultimate and have never used cloud gaming. While I can sit upstairs at my monitor and play on my series X, I also like the idea of plugging my laptop into my TV and sitting on the couch. Will my experience be noticably worse on the laptop via cloud than on the Xbox itsself? If you read my profile you may realize I hate cloud gaming, so then what am I doing on Geforce Now? Well my new RAM stick finally arrived and, in a staggering display of utter incompetence, I somehow managed to brick my PC in the process of installing it, so now I'm stuck gaming on a laptop until I can get enough money and time to get my gaming rig fixed But back to Cloud gaming, the game is on like 360p, running at 20FPS and the input lag is HORRIBLE. Starting next month everyone will be affected, including long standing subscribers. Made a chart for informational purposes. I have a gaming PC and used GFN mainly out of convenience (TV, old Notebook). Even if I never put on more than 10 - 15 hours on GFN per month, I will cancel my subscription. The enshittification is obvious and I don't want to be part of it. Context: Geforce Now started as monthly subscription with unlimited playtime for $10 - $20 a month. Last year, they announced that everyone will be limited to 100h per month playtime and gave a subset of users (founders, and contiunous subscribers a grace period until Jan 1 2026). Now since hardware prices are skyrocketing the last few years, especially during the last one (now you can buy 3 girlfriends and a house on an island with a bunch of RAM Sticks), some conspiratiorial voices on youtube say it plays perfectly into Nvidias into this new consumer model of "own nothing, be happy". Note 1: the 'Examples for comparison' section is very average and doesn't account for energy bills, regional pricing or personal harware use (e.g. selling after buying a new one or repurposing it as a local GTP slave) Note2: Made this chart and posted in on r/GeForceNOW for informational purposes.
