I recently had CO2 laser and subcision done for my acne scars and it’s been 14 days since the procedure, and I’m really going through it. My skin has gotten worse in every way possible. I have visible red patches on my cheeks, and my pores look huge. The areas where the subcisions were done are now even more indented, which I don’t understand. I don’t even recognize myself. I’ve followed all the aftercare instructions, but still. I went for a checkup, and the doctor was essentially gaslighting me about the scars improving and said the redness will go away in 1 to 2 months. He even recommended that I go through another round of laser and subcision next month, which I think is absolutely insane and just trying to take my money. Please tell me I didn’t ruin my face and that it will get better. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Right now I’m using a heavy moisturizer, tranexamic acid and peptides serum (suggested by derm) for hyperpigmentation, azelaic acid for the redness, circablast b5 cream here and there and lots of sunscreen. Edit: Thank you all for all the advice and reassurance. I’ll be stopping all actives and be more patient! I got ablative CO2 laser and subcision in January of 2025 and I am so happy with my results a year later. Did all my scars completely vanish? No but the improvement is amazing. I do believe I had high expectations in the beginning, thinking that they would be completely gone but now a year later I am very happy with my results and actually some of my scars did completely go away. For clarification: before photo has mascara on the eyes, but no other makeup on the face. After photo has no make up at all. First photo was taken in early December and second photo was today. I have lost about 8lbs between photos. Both were taken at the same time of day and in the same lighting, I tried to keep them as consistent as I could. I got CO2 laser done for my eye area only, as my clinic had a promotion for it. They lasered under my eyes, around the outer corners and a little under the brows. I chose to get this done to help with the dark circles and fine lines under my eyes. I do not think that my under eyes were “bad” in the before, but I have to wear a mask at work so the only identifying part of your face everyone sees are the eyes. Before this I have had 1 EZ gel PRP treatment and 2 PRF treatments for my under eyes. They gave me some results, but very minimal in my opinion. Since the laser treatment was on sale, I decided “why not?” and booked a few appointments under the sale price. In addition to that I also been using tazarotene .1% since January of this year and for the last 4 months I’ve been doing microneedling. So far I’ve seen zero improvements, I think the laser really helped with evening the skin tone but that’s it. I just wasted $1,200 plus the Alastin pre and post treatment care, that was another extra $200. I feel so dumb for wasting all that money from my savings and seeing zero improvements. I'm day 11 after treatment, still a bit red, and I haven't been taking care of my skin for the past 3 days. Just had my gallbladder out and I'm recovering. I can tell I'm still healing around the treated area. Skin is a bit tight feeling. I have to get back on the washing and moisturizing twice a day train ASAP. I think I can see a little bit of improvement from the first Helix to the second Helix treatment. I hope, as it continues to heal, I'll see more. The nurses say it can take up to 6 months to see the final results. I'm definitely happy with the results. If I could only choose to do 3 microneedling treatments ($1200), or 1 Helix treatment (which would include the whole face price) $1100, I'd definitely go with the Helix for the wrinkles. I have co2 and fiber lasers. No diode here as they don't offer me what I need in production. I've been laser engraving logos on 3d printed items for a few years. This was done with 60watt Galvo co2 at 5watts power. Hello. I got co2 Deka laser last Thursday (3/6). I felt horrible over the weekend. Cancelled all plans due to swelling. Been laying low. Obviously I had to go back to work this week. I’m lathering with aquafor. I got a steroid injection yesterday to help with eye swelling. I was told this was a 5 day recovery time MAX. I’m currently on day 5. My birthday is this Saturday and I don’t want to look like a monster lol. Please send over any opinions , tips and tricks. I’ll post a current pic of my face. Kind of freaking out! Is this normal? I’m posting this to share my healing process in case anyone interested in this treatment wants to see what my journey is like so far. Day 1 is the day after the laser treatment. I think my NP went more aggressive, which I don’t mind. I have Fitzpatrick skin type III (light Asian skin tone) and have had my scars for more than 10 years. For days 1-6, I basically did as instructed: wash 2x a day with gentle cleanser (Face Reality Barrier Cleanser), antibiotic ointment, and lots of aquaphor. Also stayed inside. On day 7, I added Neogenesis Recovery Serum underneath the aquaphor to speed up the healing process. If i step out for a short period, i wear SPF 50. So far, so good. Once the skin is better healed in a few days or a week, I’m going to use the InKey bio active ceramide moisturizer in place of the aquaphor (and rejuran turnover serum for cell turnover). Last pictures are from today (day 8)—sorry about the inconsistent lighting. I recently tried the CO2 fractional laser at The Gee Aesthetics, and I’m really happy with how it went! The staff was super friendly and made sure I understood everything about the process. The clinic itself was clean and comfortable, which made the whole experience even better. 3 WEEKS POST LASER. I had no idea what to expect but I am extremely happy with my results. Yes, it was expensive I had some additional things added on so pricing will definitely vary but it was in the $2500-3000 range. I went to a board-certified Dermatologist and I would always recommend that. My life motto is that there are no coupons, shortcuts, or discounts when it comes to procedures as intense as this, so always go to the person who is most qualified. Unfortunately, that does not always = cost-effective but it is...your face. The downtime was intense and luckily I work from home which was a big blessing for sure. You definitely need at least a week to recover and limit the risk of infection but you MUST stay out of the sun for 3-4 weeks. I bought a protective face covering from Amazon that was a game-changer.. I will link it below. All in all, I went into this blindly and figured I was throwing my summer vacation savings into something that would probably give me so-so results and I am now eating my words.
