Has anyone here tried electronic leg compression boots for marathon training recovery? I’m thinking of getting a pair to help after long runs and harder sessions but I’d really like some real world feedback before spending the money. Do you actually feel they help with recovery like reduced soreness faster bounce back or fewer niggles or injuries over a training block or is it more of a feels good but not a game changer kind of thing? I’ve gone through three different pairs over the past couple years out of curiosity and a bit of trial and error, so here’s how they actually stack up. Budget ($90–150) Stuff like FitKing Compression Boots or Sharper Image Compression Boots is honestly fine. You still get sequential compression, which is the main thing, plus a few pressure settings. Downsides are mostly build quality and dealing with tubes and a pump. But it’s a solid way to test if compression boots even make sense for you before spending more. Mid-range This is where it started to feel practical for everyday use. I’ve been using Frost Fit Compression Boots by Icebound Essentials, mainly because they’re wireless with no external pump. That alone made me use them way more consistently. You get better control over pressure and zones too, but honestly the biggest upgrade is just convenience. Premium Top end options like Normatec 3 Legs, Normatec Elite Compression Boots, and Therabody JetBoots definitely feel smoother and more refined, with more features. But it’s not a night and day difference in terms of recovery My honest take: If you’re a beginner or running a few times a week, mid-range hits the sweet spot. You get most of the benefit without the big price jump. The easier they are to use, the more you’ll actually stick with them, and that matters way more than squeezing out the last 10 percent. Holliday gains increased movement speed and can air-dash and double jump an additional time during Crackshot. - Holliday: Spirit Lasso no longer has a duration and instead just quickly launches the target towards Holliday. - Holliday: Spirit Lasso now obeys Newton’s Third Law and launches Holliday equally fast towards the target. - Holliday: Spirit Lasso T3 now increases the size of the Lasso, causing all heroes within 7m of the target to be launched towards Holliday as well. -- Due to obeying Newton’s Third Law, this can be dangerous to Holliday. You do not require an empty inventory slot for this. - The Lash: Ground Strike replaced with Uppercut - The Lash: Queuing up with The Lash as your highest priority Hero immediately puts you on a victorious score screen. - McGinnis: Every 100 damage she takes causes a Mini Turret to fall out of her pockets and land in a random location within 10m. Slither has been replaced with Venomous Uppercut, which launches enemies away from Viper and has them deal area damage on impact. - Viper: Petrifying Bola has been replaced with Ammo Belt. - Viper: Ammo Belt now causes Viper to continuously fire her gun for 11 seconds, spraying bullets in effectively a 3m wide beam. The recoil of the weapon allows Viper to hover in the air for the duration, and the ejected shells damage everyone close to her. - Warden: Binding Word: Instead of being Hero-targeted, Warden now controls the claw coming down from the sky to try and grab Heroes. Grabbed Heroes can repeatedly press A and D to try and wriggle out of the claw. We’ve had threads on sleeves before but boots feel kinda different so thought I’d ask started using compression boots like ~18 months ago when leg soreness was just carrying over into the next WOD constantly. squats + running + jumps was just stacking up for me they’ve been most useful after leg heavy days. usually just put them on for like 20–30 mins while eating after a workout. it’s nice cause it’s passive, no effort, doesn’t mess with other recovery stuff normatec is obviously what you see everywhere but yeah the price is kinda crazy I’ve been using Icebound's frost fit wireless compression boot setup and honestly the only reason I stuck with it is cause it’s easy to use. no setup & actually ends up getting used curious what others are doing: you guys using boots at all or just sleeves / mobility? when do you use them… right after or later? have you actually noticed a difference or is it just one of those “feels good” things? submitted by /u/Mirai_Sol to r/crossfit [link] [comments]
