What’s the best GPS dog fence?
I’ve been looking into GPS dog fences lately and honestly can’t tell which ones are actually good once you use them day to day. My dog has way too much confidence and will absolutely test boundaries if he gets the chance, so I’m trying to find something reliable with solid tracking and fence accuracy. For people who’ve been using one for a while, what’s been the best option for you? Any brands you’d stay away from? Would appreciate real opinions before I spend the money. submitted by /u/RNShe to r/halocollarofficial [link] [comments]

Wireless dog fence question
Hi, i'm looking at getting a fence or a wireless fence right new for my yard so dog can be out as much as he wants. question is has anybody had experiences with wireless one. Shock collar one doesnt sound very appraling, but we saw there are other variants such as the ones making noise or vibrating. our staffy isbalso one hyperactive dog, so how may this affect it and how do they work with lawn mower robot line also around the yard, does it interfere? so i think in short are they worth it and if yes then maybe you guys can give us recommendations. Is the Pawtronic Pro Series 2 GPS Dog Fence Actually Worth Buying?
The biggest appeal is how easy it is compared to a traditional fence. Instead of digging trenches or installing wires, you basically set up a virtual boundary using GPS through your phone, and the collar warns your dog with a tone, vibration, or optional correction when they get close to that boundary. A lot of people like it because there’s no monthly subscription, and you can move the boundary around if you travel or change locations. That said, whether it’s actually worth buying really depends on where you live and what you expect it to do. GPS fences tend to work best in wide open areas with a clear view of the sky, but signals can shift a bit near trees, buildings, or dense neighborhoods, which can affect accuracy. It’s also important to know that this system is meant for containment only, not real-time dog tracking, so if your dog somehow leaves the boundary you won’t be able to track them like you would with a GPS tracker. Overall, it can be a good option for people with larger yards or rural properties who want a simple wireless fence without paying subscription fees. But if you need super precise boundaries or live tracking features, you might want to compare it with other GPS collars before deciding. submitted by /u/GiftSuccessful3338 to r/TechnoBarkDogGear [link] [comments]

Just found out i have asbestos in my fence and my dog has been standing and scratching it for 2 years.
i honestly don't know how i should even feel right now, the fact that to neither my parents or my grandfather thought of telling me our fence had asbestos or the fact they have also seen her standing on it and yes those are Heraklith, it's wood wool and cement, however, since they are from old yugoslavia they have asbestos in them. submitted by /u/Fire23GG73 to r/Wellthatsucks [link] [comments]

Dog proof fence for acreage that won't break the bank?
So first things first I gotta post pics of the fence this sub inspired. It's a hog wire fence that we sandwiched between two treated 2x4's that we used a dado blade to cut a channel in to set the wire. I was going to rip some more 2x4's and sandwich the panels on the sides too but it holds well enough as is. Built at the end of last year over the course of 2 months working on it on the weekend, it's roughly 2k ft long in total and cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $5k - $8k when all was said and done. I may still have to add a half panel to the top section because one of my dogs can just about jump up and get over the fence as is. I now am looking at options to fence in a few acres that surround the current fence + house which would likely end up being somewhere in the neighborhood of 7k ft of fencing. However I am not liking the math when I scale up the costs for more hogwire fencing. Issue is the fence needs to be tall enough to keep dogs from climbing/jumping over, keep them from pushing through, and ideally be close enough to the ground to discourage digging. Is there a type of fencing that fits this bill or are my options basically chainlink, wood picket, and hogwire? submitted by /u/ColonelShrimps to r/FenceBuilding [link] [comments]

Invisible Fence is not worth the $$
I just want to provide information for people considering installing the Invisible Fence brand dog fence. Don’t do it. It is soooo expensive, thousands of dollars to install. The collars cost nearly a grand. Only they can service the fence and collars. There is no way to manage the correction levels or change the boundaries if you ever need. When they install it they tell you that you are set for life! They will service it whenever you have issues! Until you install it and you do have issues, then they charge $200 (minimum) to service it. I should say with Invisible Fence NW McHenry, they used to be wonderful. I don’t know if they have new owners, or what. I’m not sure how they keep customers in a market where there are so many other options. It would be different if I did something wrong with the fence. But to charge for simple maintenance on the collar? That seems a little greedy when I paid as much as I did for the fence. I have an invisible fence and I also have a wireless invisible fence. The wireless fence works just as well, is a fraction of the cost, and you can manage settings yourself. Just wanted to help out people who are tossed between the two! Good luck with your pups! submitted by /u/Familiar_Chemist_696 to r/Pets [link] [comments]

My neighbors drilled holes in our fence to spy, taunt my dogs with whistles, and pretend they don’t know what I’m talking about
So it’s been about a year since my new neighbors moved in (Vietnamese family: a mother, her baby, and the grandmother who lives in the garage). At first, they seemed normal. Now I feel like I’m living in some weird horror-drama. • The peeping: My other neighbor caught the grandmother peeking through drilled holes in the fence. She poked her in the eye, and the woman ran back inside pretending she was “gardening.” • The fence holes: I checked and found dozens of holes drilled into our fence at different angles—even some lined up toward my lounge room and garage. • The excuse: When confronted, the daughter admitted her mother did this “back in Vietnam” because she was bored and nosey. She claimed it wasn’t malicious, just “curious.” (Sure, because curious people drill holes at head height into someone’s living room?) • The dogs: I’ve got dachshunds (aka bark machines), but lately they’ve gone absolutely feral. Other neighborhood dogs are barking too. I kept hearing this faint high-pitched whistle/buzz right before the barking started. • The stakeout: I literally sat outside in silence one night for an hour and heard it myself—like a dog whistle. My supportive neighbor also heard it on her end. It’s not just me. When I finally confronted the daughter about the whistle, she denied everything, clutched her baby, said I was scaring her, and told me to “just call the police.” Then she messaged my mum claiming I was the aggressive one for yelling. I’ve patched the fence the best I can, but it looks like crap and honestly I’m furious I even have to deal with this. Has anyone else had neighbors who deliberately taunt pets or spy through fences? Because this is beyond nosey… it’s creepy and calculated. submitted by /u/Silver_Pop_1398 to r/neighborsfromhell [link] [comments]

Looking for an affordable but sturdy fence to keep my dog in our yard
We spent about $11k to have a nice fence installed in our new home. HOA rules required us to get a 4’ max high fence with either the wooden posts and chicken wire or the slotted fences. We opted for a black 4’ high aluminum fence since our Doberman was able to climb our old chicken wire fence. Anytime a neighbor walks their dog, he has managed to bend the fence and push through the poles to try and play with the dog walking by (and scare the owner). We then bought a $600 GPS collar which worked briefly but then started shocking him in our house and causing him to get multiple abscesses on his neck because it was shocking him when it shouldn’t have. I’d love to let him out without worrying he’s going to get out, without tying him down or using leads. Any suggestions on what to add to our existing fence that doesn’t cost a ton (since we already spent $11k to make it look nice) to keep him in? It’s about 250’ total. submitted by /u/Jac967 to r/FenceBuilding [link] [comments]

Neighbors dog never shuts up and destroys bottom of fence
Anyone have (legal) ideas that will prevent this dog from doing this and barking at me for existing in my own back yard? Neighbors dog came into our fenced property and bit my 5 year old today
We moved to a few acres 2 months ago. We have the entire property fenced & share a fence with both neighbors. Today my youngest son (5) and my husband were out in the fenced in backyard playing, building things and enjoying themselves. My neighbor’s small dog (who they have stated is aggressive and has bitten multiple people before) somehow came through the fence and chased after my 5 year old and bit him, puncturing his skin completely unprovoked and on our property. My neighbor told me today this dog also bit the last owner of this house. What would you do? I filed a police report. I am very concerned about the aggressiveness of this dog who seems to have a history of biting unprovoked and the dog owners complete lack of responsibility to contain or control the biting problem. submitted by /u/InevitableSpirit5774 to r/legal [link] [comments]

Invisible fence recommendations
We are moving into a house that has no ability to have a fence and no back yard. There’s a front yard, then a side yard on the other side of our driveway and garage- no door to it either. It’s going to suck for my poor dogs. :( I can’t do a wireless fence bc the shape of my house/yard is a long rectangle and they will be shocked in the house if that’s what we use.
