Reviewing my hairdryers! (Refa, Dyson Supersonic/Nural, Dyson Airstrait)
\Not in pic - Dyson Supersonic and Supersonic Nural. My supersonic broke 2 years ago and I've replaced it with the Nural which I eventually gave to my mom lol.) Hair type/context: thick, naturally straight, coarse hair very frizzy with stubborn stray strands yearly rebonded so my hair is dry, but not straw-level damaged My priorities are: ease of use frizz control minimal damage One thing to note: none of these completely eliminated my stubborn flyaways. Even rebonding couldn’t fix them honestly 😂 I’ve accepted that my goal is just reducing overall frizz and making my hair look more polished. All 3 gave me: shinier hair softer feel less frizz vs air drying that “good hair day” effect I also don’t use products after drying so some frizz naturally comes back throughout the day. REFA BEAUTECH DRYER SMART W What I liked: Hair looks shiny, soft, less frizzy “Bagsak” but still bouncy somehow Didn’t flatten my volume too much Feels the least damaging heat-wise Overall heat feels gentler on my scalp compared to the other two, but still dries hair effectively in a decent amount of time Lightweight and the most travel-friendly Really good performance for the price It basically gives me “healthy good hair day” vibes with minimal effort. What I didn’t like: Build quality feels less premium The twisting handle doesn’t glide very smoothly Concentrator attachment doesn’t feel as satisfying/snappy to connect/disconnect Filter cover feels a bit fragile if you remove it carelessly But honestly it’s almost half the price of Dyson so I can forgive a lot. Would repurchase? Yes. I got mine in Japan for around 33,200 yen (~12.9k PHP) discounted from 40,000 yen (~15.6k PHP). Mine is the Smart W model so it works in the PH without needing a transformer. DYSON SUPERSONIC / SUPERSONIC NURAL What I liked: Slightly better frizz control vs the other two because of the flyaway attachment (this is honestly what I miss most) Lots of styling flexibility for blowout looks and different hairstyles Diffuser was useful when I had permed ends Premium build quality Powerful airflow This feels like the “pro tool” out of the three. I think this is the best overall choice IF you’re willing to learn how to maximize all the attachments/settings. What I didn’t like: Learning curve 😭 I personally never maximized all the features/settings If you only use it as a basic hairdryer, I honestly think the Refa already does enough for much cheaper Expensive if you’re not the type to experiment with styling PH Dyson service center/customer support was not a good experience for me I also personally didn’t notice a huge difference between the original Supersonic and the Nural. But disclaimer: I use the same default settings every time and only regularly used 2 attachments (gentle air + flyaway). Would repurchase? No. It's an amazing tool but I'm not the target market. I'm too lazy to maximize it enough to justify the price lol. If you love styling and experimenting with attachments, this is probably still the best overall dryer. DYSON AIRSTRAIT What I liked: Easiest to use by far Wet-to-dry straightening is insanely convenient Hair looks shiny, soft, less frizzy Gives the smoothest/bagsak result out of the three Perfect lazy girl tool honestly Compared to the other two, this gives me the straightest finish without needing additional effort. What I didn’t like: Big ass plug 😭 Not versatile styling-wise You’re mostly committing to straight hair Doesn’t work like a flat iron where you can easily curl your hair with it Would repurchase? Yes. This is probably the most “grab and go” hair tool I’ve owned, though the Refa is comparable! My personal ranking as a lazy girl: Most versatile/styling-focused: Supersonic Best value + least damaging feel: Refa Most convenient/easiest daily use: Airstrait Honestly all 3 are good. It really just depends on how much effort you’re willing to put into styling your hair. submitted by /u/Mission_Extreme_6325 to r/beautytalkph [link] [comments]

Good hairdryer for wash n go? Is Dyson overkill?
My Revlon Shine Booster is about to kick the bucket, and I’d almost influenced myself into spending $$$ on a Dyson—until I realized most of the raves come from people doing straightening or using the attachments. To be clear: I am LAZY and have WEAK ARMS, and will not be doing anything but a wash n go at home 💀 The other Dyson benefit I see mentioned a lot is speed. My hair doesn’t take too long to diffuse dry (maybe 20 min, I don’t get it bone dry). Are there any hair health reasons beyond that to recommend the Dyson? Hair health and size/weight are my primary focuses for a dryer. If you have a non Dyson WnG dryer rec, please share it with me! UPDATE: I got the Dyson supersonic and I’m super happy with it! (Long version: All of your advice was so reasonable that I’ll admit I was still undecided after reading 😅. I ended up taking the suggestion to just order a Dyson and test it out, and return it if I wasn’t satisfied. And Dyson is having a big sale that brought a new supersonic down to close of the price of a refurb, making it great timing. Well, I tried it out and I look just like I do when I come out of an appointment with my stylist—it’s also what she uses but that’s never a guarantee I can achieve the same results—and in less time! I might have cracked the code?
So I’ve been on a hair journey. I recently chopped it off because I had so many split ends. I had been trying the Abbey Young method and not really getting the results I wanted… she recommends so many heavy products and clarifying shampoos which left my strands dry, damaged, and weighed down. I live in Colorado and our humidity is basically zero and our water is very hard. Second pic is to show how tiny my ponytail is… I truly have fine hair, I can’t even use elastics because they slip out! I decided to go back to the drawing board and figure out what combos worked for MY hair, which is fine, pin straight, never been dyed, etc. It finally feels bouncy, shiny, and well taken care of! Re: Going to Japan, what to buy, where to go?
I would have thought prices are good due to the current exchange rate (185 JPY/1 EUR). There are quite a few people trying to sell 100V gear bought from Japan after realizing they wont work here (120V 60Hz). Dyson hairdryer is a big one. Hakko desoldering gun we know can be converted with some work. But fairly sure hair dryer, cookers, things like that might not be feasible to convert.

I got a Dyson as my surprise gift for Christmas, but I have to say I was a little bit horrified by the price tag. I seriously cannot see how a hair dryer could ever be worth that much. To those who have tried it, is it worth it?? I am wondering if I should return it and just get the money instead 😭 I am by no means ungrateful, just confused at what could make a hair dryer cost 500 dollars and would like to know before I open it or miss the return window. submitted by /u/Broad-Order7448 to r/Hair [link] [comments]

Husband ordered me the Dyson air wrap for wavy straight hair and they sent two
As the title says I have two brand new Dyson air wraps. I opened my Christmas gift and the first one was an air wrap and the second box was another air wrap. He thought the second box was the attachments. We double checked and we were only charged for one. Should I return the second one to the company or what? submitted by /u/akOOch to r/Dysonairwrap [link] [comments]

The Dyson hairdryer range
I want to get my wife the Dyson hairdryer for Christmas. It takes her ages to dry her hair, and the current hairdryer is some decade old thing that was probably a tenner in boots. I removed the air intake filter a few years ago to stop it constantly overheating, so a replacement is well overdue. But I don't understand the Dyson range. There is quite a range in prices, the ones that look like a donut and the ones that are more of a stick. I don't want to buy the cheap one and it be rubbish, and I don't want to buy the expensive one and it be a waste. What one do I need? Are there any deals about? submitted by /u/AffectionateJump7896 to r/beauty [link] [comments]

My crazy hair drying hack. I use a Dyson fan, not the hairdryer... And it's genius
The actual fan for moving air? Is genius for slow drying hair. I have it next to me when I am out of the shower or next to my laptop. I am one of those add cream/dry hair wave girls so this solution for me is so much easier than hot mess hair dryer in a chaotic bathroom. And it is gentle air mover so it's not blasting the air and dries my hair quick. I just have it set to stationary and sit next to it. I know this is wild but hoping it helps someone. And the cool air doesn't harm my hair and takes a lot of anxiety of , " getting shower hair dried" away from me I am sure there are other ones on the market now that do this and aren't so pricey but I absolutely love to sit next to this and have the fresh cook air drying my hair while having my coffee or on my laptop. Hope this helps someone struggling with ...all the things! submitted by /u/TeacherExit to r/adhdwomen [link] [comments]

How do people go through hair dryers so quickly???
My mom has had the same hair dryer for well over a decade, and I've had mine for 5 years (since I moved out). My mom's is a Braun (I think) and mine is a Babyliss. Both were cheap, normal hair dryers. I've been looking into getting a Dyson, and I keep seeing everyone in the reviews saying how they have to get a new hair dryer every year or two, and I just don't understand how. Why do some people's hairdryers break so often when mine have survived for so long? submitted by /u/Internal-Stick-5157 to r/beauty [link] [comments]

Dyson Hair Dryers - what's the difference?
I have seen plenty of comments on previous posts recommending Dyson hair dryers. There seems to be a huge variation in price between different models ( the only difference I can see on some is that they are a different colour). The pictures above are two which I can actually see some difference in. They are about $200 difference in price. Is the new diffuser style better on the blue one? I can justify the price of the copper one but not sure about the blue. The shark is about $150 cheaper than the cheapest dyson (which also seems to be a common recommendation). Genuine question - Why don’t we just buy salon hair dryers?
Those big hooded ones! It turns out they’re available in a range of prices from $100-500, which is still less than a Dyson. Literally, why aren’t we just buying salon hood dryers to use at home and saving ourselves the headache (and arm ache) of diffusing? Edit: obvs yes even $100 for a hair dryer is still a lot. I’m asking those of y’all who spend a lot of money on luxury dryers for diffusing submitted by /u/circe5823 to r/curlyhair [link] [comments]

2C fine blonde hair. Just tried a friend’s Dyson hair dryer and OMG. Even my husband who rarely notices said “you like you just came from a salon”. So do I splurge for this or are there dupes that can do same ?
I know I am almost 10 years late to this bandwagon but I just rarely dry my hair because it blows my hair everywhere and causes lots of frizz. I can dry my hair in less to an 5 mins with a normal dryer (and diffuser) but was shocked by what 5 mins with the Dyson did to my hair. But WHOA is it expensive. Thoughts and suggestions ? Husband said he would buy me what I want for my birthday so now I am excited but is the money worth it ??? submitted by /u/flyver67 to r/curlyhair [link] [comments]

What pricey item did you buy and never regretted it?
Pricey as in expensive for your wallet. For me, my entire bed setting, from mattress to bedsheets, all top quality and made of natural materials. It was pricey but I’ve been sleeping so well (I used to feel hot at night). And they will probably last forever. My sleep is everything so it was worth every penny. Another Item that made my life easier is a dyson hair dryer. I dont think its a for life thing as I am not sure the quality will live up to it. But ill have it at least for a good time. Massive game changer for a women with long hair. Cut my drying time by a good 70% and made this recurring experience pleasant. What are yours? Edit: i forgot my Vzug washing machine and tumble dryer! For someone who never had a dryer in her life and always had mold smelling clothes that was one heck of an improvement. Obviously I had to buy quality :) submitted by /u/Ok_Peanut_5685 to r/BuyItForLife [link] [comments]

Please give me a hair dryer that costs hundreds of dollars
Spotted this in a local Buy Nothing group & couldn't believe it. I paid $430 for my Dyson hair dryer. A used, refurbished one is $230. But, good luck to this person, I guess! https://imgur.com/a/hsd15lq submitted by /u/Sydney_1001 to r/ChoosingBeggars [link] [comments]
