What is one eco-friendly habit that saves you money in a repeatable way?
A lot of waste seems to come from small habits that feel normal: throwing out food that was bought with good intentions, using more detergent or toothpaste than needed, replacing things early, or paying for convenience over and over in ways that add packaging and cost. Some of the most useful changes seem to come from fixing those patterns rather than buying new eco products. Things like finishing what is already at home, washing clothes in ways that help them last longer, packing food instead of buying it out, or remembering reusables consistently enough that they actually replace disposables. Interested in practical examples. What is one habit that reduced waste and saved money for you without adding much extra effort? submitted by /u/Usual-Lobster-4968 to r/EcoFriendly [link] [comments]

What’s the best way to start an eco-friendly lifestyle without getting overwhelmed?
Hey everyone ! I’ve been trying to change to a more eco-friendly/low-toxic lifestyle, especially around my home (kitchen, cleaning products, water filtering, non-toxic bedding/mattress etc.), and I realized quickly that it’s overwhelming. 😞 There’s so much conflicting information out there and I’m not always sure what actual truth or just marketing. So I wanted to ask people who’ve been doing this longer. What were the biggest challenges or frustrations you ran into when you started? Is finding product you can actually trust? Things not working as well as regular products? I am also curious about what changes made big difference or nothing at all. Would really appreciate hearing your experiences — both good and bad. I’d rather learn from real people than marketing claims. 😃 submitted by /u/Safe-Dragonfruit502 to r/EcoFriendly [link] [comments]

What are you supposed to do about panty liners? / Eco Conscious Sanitary Products
Hi! I'm confused. I kinda need panty liners sometimes, but I hate the plastic waste. I'm trying to switch to all reusable period products, but panty liners seem to be something I need outside of my period, and I don't really understand them. I could buy some cotton reusable ones, but isn't the point to change them through the day? Where would I keep the used liners? Aren't cotton liners just knickers at that point? So it would make more sense to buy some of the more eco friendly disposable brands and change them throughout the day, right? Also, I wear boxers often interchangably, so idk how reusable period products could attatch unless I can safety pin them or something? I'm also having a bit of a side issue with period underwear on the go, I feel like I need to only wear them at home so I can wash them immediately or else I will die. Does anyone have any tips? submitted by /u/-scatteredashes- to r/Sustainable [link] [comments]

Hosting an eco friendly relative?
My cousin is starting to talk seriously about wanting to come for a visit this summer, which she hasn't done since she came with my aunt and uncle as a child. She's in her early 30s, teaches yoga as a side hustle, and is extremely conscious about all things sustainable. Whole food diet, makes her own cleaning products, forages for fun, dreams of running a homestead one day. I'm...not heavily invested in any of those things. But I want to show her a great time while she's here of course. What are some fun places and activities I can plan on taking her to that hopefully won't break the bank? submitted by /u/southparkfan14 to r/raleigh [link] [comments]

I just found out my favorite dish detergent isn’t dish detergent…
I received for Christmas a gift of detergent. I love cleaning so it was a gift I was thankful for…I’ve been using this now for over 2 months to wash every single dish. I ran it in my dishwasher. I’ve been handwashing dishes with it. The scent is very light and clean. Most impressively, it works better than ANY dish detergent I have ever used. Dishes come out sparkling clean. Cheese, coffee stains, etc. slide off like it’s nothing. I don’t even have to scrub. I’ve never been able to convince myself to spend more money for eco-friendly products because all the ones I have tried previously just didn’t stand up to normal detergents. Anyways, here we are two months in and I went to google to search places that sell this. Cue the search results offering “other laundry detergents”… I retyped in the search again “easy dose dish detergent” because I have been thinking how cool it is that the dose automatically stops at the exact right size for my dishwasher detergent spot… no results for this. I went back to my kitchen to use my old ass eyes to zoom in. And zoom in again. And zoom in again… to discover right there one the front of the bottle…I have been washing my dishes with laundry detergent for months. How cooked am I? Is my brain permanently fried because I have been eating off of plates bathed in laundry soap?? Infuriated? Mildly. Why don’t they make dish soap that works this well? How many people have eaten off my plates and not told me they smell like laundry?? submitted by /u/Familiar-Reading2637 to r/mildlyinfuriating [link] [comments]

If you had the $ what would you buy/stop buying to be more eco friendly and healthy?
Sadly I had a relative pass away in 2024. I'm fortunate to have a good inheritance. I'm trying to live a more eco-friendly and health conscious lifestyle (34F). If you had a big budget, what would you invest in or stop buying/ doing to be more eco friendly and healthy? Some thing already: - Live in an apartment (rental) in a city and take public transit - composting -bamboo cutting boards instead of plastic -wooden kitchen utensils instead of black plastic -glass containers instead of plastic -all glass air fryer -eating more local and organic foods -bought air purifiers -all cleaning products free of dyes & chemicals -trying to upcycle crafts, decorations etc. - what clothing brands would you recommend if buying new? - any other ideas? submitted by /u/Magnificent-Day-9206 to r/EcoFriendly [link] [comments]

Why is “eco friendly” packaging usually more expensive?
I’ve noticed this for a while. Whenever a product is labeled as having eco friendly or sustainable packaging, it almost always costs more. It feels a bit counterintuitive. If something is better for the planet, why does it come with a higher price tag? At first, the obvious answer is materials and scale. Newer processes cost more, and sustainable options aren’t produced at the same volume yet. But that doesn’t seem to explain everything. Part of me wonders if this is also about how markets work. “Eco friendly” has become a signal, almost a premium feature, not just a functional one. It’s something you opt into, not something built in by default. Is the higher price really about cost, or about who sustainability is currently designed for? And what would need to change for environmentally friendly packaging to stop being a luxury and start being the norm? submitted by /u/TheBigGirlDiaryBack to r/AlwaysWhy [link] [comments]

Which swag stores do you use to make employee gifts more eco friendly?
So I've been helping my company find swag stores for employee gifts that are actually sustainable, not just greenwashing. Most platforms we looked at were disappointing, lots of ""eco friendly"" claims but same cheap stuff with a green label. We finally found some stores that curate genuinely sustainable products like organic cotton, recycled materials, bamboo accessories, stuff people actually use long term. Our team appreciates quality sustainable items way more than generic branded junk. What swag stores have you found that offer real eco friendly options? Would love to hear what's working for others trying to reduce waste in corporate gifting. submitted by /u/jada13970 to r/ZeroWaste [link] [comments]

Makeup wearers: how do you buy as little as possible, FOR as little as possible, and eco-friendly?
Let me know if this post would be considered off-topic if I happened to misinterpret the rules of this sub :) This is to everyone who uses makeup. I understand and support the backlash the industry has been getting for years, and I'm on a quest to finding the most budget and eco-friendly makeup I can that will still allow me to get myself a full face of it, just because I like it. I've never really worn much and have been using the same pallettes and brushes for the last, maybe, 10 years (I wash the brushes, and in the case that anyone says that the pallettes you're meant to chuck every couple years max - you're in the wrong sub lol [/jk]). I'm still figuring out what colors suit me most and where they do on my face, and find that most of the makeup I already own has either dried out, completely changed texture (basically gone bad) or just doesn't suit me in terms of color. I feel like if I buy any of the "basic" dupes that eco-friendly makeup YouTubers suggest, I'll overconsume and spend too much money for my liking (especially since the dupes themselves cost a lot more due to the eco-friendly aspect). I've been researching this for a while, and haven't been able to find much. Would any of you happen to have any tips about: How to do more than just lip gloss and mascara with as little as possible in terms of product quantity? Having been able to at all buy cheaper makeup that is still eco-friendly? Note: I'm not asking for specific product recommendations since I know it's against the rules of the sub, more so approaches/philosophies to doing it in general in the way I've described above. Any DIY tips you'd found work for you? I'm based in the UK if that gives better context, too, but I don't think that should matter for this post. submitted by /u/Old-Association671 to r/Anticonsumption [link] [comments]

Who to ask to buy my eco-friendly ammo?
EDIT 2: I want to thank everyone again for your comments and questions. We heard you, and we are about to update/improve our website and packaging to do a better job at communicating our value so it's clearer what customers get! EDIT: I just realized that most of my replies got "shadow suppressed" - so, I'm very sorry y'all didn't get to read what I responded to the great questions here 😢 TLDR: Sustainability is mainly achieved via cardboard-only boxes, recycled brass, led-free primers, and CO2 offset for production, shipping and usage! THANKS to all of you who left thoughtful replies. I'm working on them now and for the following days ❤️ In the off-chance that I won't receive a shitstorm for "advertising", I'd like to ask my fellow Chattanoogans: Where do you recommend I offer my eco-friendly ammo (just started EcoBullet - a sustainable ammo brand)? I have already tried visiting small and large stores, but they seem to be extremely slow with their decision-making. I also got good demand from friends, but tbh I think they just bought it as a favor :D Thanks in advance for your suggestions 🙏🏻 submitted by /u/RolandPolzin to r/Chattanooga [link] [comments]

Came to Coimbatore alone at 18, worked in a café, now starting my own eco-friendly business
Hi everyone, I’m Mubarak, 19 years old Boy from UP. I came to Coimbatore 6 months ago with a dream of starting my own eco-friendly business. Since I had no relatives or family here, I joined a café to support myself and understand the city. Yesterday was my last day at the café. I feel a bit sad and scared because this is the first time I’m fully stepping into business with no safety net. But at the same time, I’m excited to build something meaningful — sustainable products made from coconut shells. I’ve grown to love Coimbatore, and I’d love to connect with like-minded people here who are also into sustainability, eco-friendly living, or entrepreneurship. Your support and advice would mean a lot 🙏 submitted by /u/Mzoconu to r/Coimbatore [link] [comments]

What’s the most underrated zero-waste/eco-friendly product you have discovered recently?
I have been exploring easy eco-swaps that actually work for everyday life. Some of them may not be a 100% zero waste, but they are way more eco-friendly than the conventional stuff. One product that I swear by these days is bar shampoo with natural soap nut extracts. It comes wrapped in paper, so no more plastic bottles, and it’s great while travelling. Would love to hear what others have discovered. submitted by /u/MildlyTangled to r/ZeroWaste [link] [comments]

I am the founder of Arka.com, an eco-friendly custom packaging startup making several million in ARR, with investors such as Gary Vaynerchuk . Ask me anything about scaling companies, supply chains, eCommerce, the future of the packaging industry,, relationship advice, anything!
Hi Reddit, I am the founder of Arka, YC Alum, Industrial Engineer, Shopify course leader and logistics/supply chain entrepreneur. I’m currently working on a new project under Arka with a team of seasoned supply chain and web-to-print entrepreneurs & operators, including previous founders of exited/acquired startups.) We’ve created Digital Ledger for 3PL/Fulfillment Warehouses to auto-replenish packages. Our average month-on-month growth in 2022 has been 67.14% with clients like Shopify, Printful and Google. We’re aiming to hit $10M in revenue next year and 3X’d from the year before. So, covid absolutely blasted ecommerce through the stratosphere. People bought more products online than ever, far beyond the trendline of what we saw through previous years. More folks are turning to side hustles and aspiring towards their goals of starting and operating online businesses. Combine this with the rise of sustainability and eco-friendly packaging, we saw an opportunity to update a massive but antiquated industry. That’s why my team and I are working on an API called Abbi. The concept is simple - when fulfillment warehouses get low on packaging they use to pick, pack and ship products in, we auto-replenish that packaging for new orders. Imagine a world where Amazon would know exactly how much of a beverage is left in your fridge and auto-reorder for you when you get low… I mean they’d lose their minds if they had that data and ability to replenish. As a B2B, we have the ability to auto-replenish warehouse packaging instead of the process used today. Right now warehouses still have someone with a clipboard walk a warehouse floor and literally count how many boxes they have left. When they get low, they pick up the phone and order more from a catalog (I sh*t you not this is still how you get any of the things you order online packaged and sent to you). You’re probably wondering: How do we make money? We aggregate our buying power of paper from partner facilities to act as one huge master account, giving away the software for free but having the packages ordered through us with a margin. Albeit, still at a rate competitive to other big box suppliers! Our platform tracks the consumption of warehouse packaging, forecasts future orders and even optimizes the packaging sizes all using AI. Warehouses already do a stellar job of tracking merchant products (or skus) when governed properly using a WMS (warehouse management system). The problem is with the other crucial part of the equation, packaging. There just wasn’t any unified system of tracking until now. You’ve received a product in the mail that shipped too much air, right? Our software solved that because the problem we’re solving can help with that. Sometimes your products get shipped in a bigger box because they’re out of the box they actually need to ship it in. What do they do? Resort to whatever else is in the warehouse. This fractional space across every physical product shipped and the optimized usage of space in every freight truck that ships it out adds up! We believe in efficiency through all commerce, sustainable packaging used across every warehouse, and accountability. If our mission is important to you, join us and ask me anything! submitted by /u/Pakhzar to r/Entrepreneur [link] [comments]

AITA for telling my wife her essential oils and eco friendly detergents don’t work?
I (32m) am currently getting the silent treatment for telling my wife (32f)that her system of eco friendly cleaners and essential oils aren’t working and I want to switch back? We’ve been married for 10 years and have very defined roles and chores in the house. I work longer hours, but her hours for her job leave me as the primary caregiver for our child. I typically do dishes, cook every meal, grocery shop and meal plan, do household repairs, car repairs, take kid to school and pick up, do appointments for him etc. At home, my wife is responsible for laundry, shops for taxable items like medication and toilet paper, and budgeting and financial planning (I make 3x her salary, but she’s better with money.). I point these things out not because I feel we aren’t being equitable, but because I can see how a post about a man complaining about his laundry not being done might attract claims of sexism. We both work hard, her job is just odd with hours and days. Over the past two years, my wife has really gotten into essential oils and eco friendly products. It hasn’t really bother me too much, but I’ve noticed that the cleaning products just don’t work very well. I feel like I’m doing twice the work to get the same results. The detergent also does not seem to get all the smells out of my clothes. The essential oils, in my opinion, don’t do anything she has convinced herself they do. In general though, I’ve kept that to myself. The problem is that these products don’t work well. It’s hard to do the dishes, when the soap doesn’t cut the grease and grime. It’s hard to get laundry done, when I have to rewash stuff because it still smells (I’m a big sweaty guy.). It’s hard to deal with allergies or headaches when she thinks wintergreen is going to “increase my circulation and open my airways” so we don’t need medicine. I approached her this morning after finding my clean clothes for work were not actually clean. I asked her if we could get some tide to wash my clothes. She got defensive and asked why. When I said that I didn’t feel like the detergent got my clothes smelling fresh, her solution was to put these dryer balls with drops of essential oils on them into the dryer with them. It annoyed me, and I asked if I could just get some tide. I even offered to do my clothes myself if she was against using that sort of detergent. She got mad at me. I ended up saying that I appreciated her interest in finding environmentally friendly ways to deal with chores, but that I wanted to go back to products that worked for me. I also slipped that I had been buying my own headache medicine and Claritin and had been keeping it in my office and car because the oils don’t help. Now it seems, I’m in the dog house for “lying” to her and not supporting her efforts in the house. Probably a silly or unimportant thing to ask, but my wife is adamant I ATA. So, first world problems aside, AITA? EDIT: I wanted to clarify a few things based on the explosion of this post. She did not say I couldn’t take Claritin and pain medication. She did not think I needed it and stopped buying it. I bought it myself instead. She’s not that controlling. She just thought her oils were helping until I told her I was still taking my meds. She told me later she felt bad, and didn’t realize it. She said if I had let her know sooner, she would have gotten more for me. I wasn’t asking for permission to buy anything. We don’t do that. I was just asking that she pick some regular detergent up next time she does her taxable shopping. I didn’t expect the defensive reaction is all. I looked into it and she is NOT engaged in MLM products. EDIT 2: I came home from work today to an assortment of laundry products on the couch. My wife said she understood what i was saying, and was sorry she got so defensive. EDIT 3: I did write down a lot of your suggestions for alternatives. I shared them with her and we’re going to do some research and testing. Thank you all for the advice! submitted by /u/Calamity_Jim to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]
