I got inspired by Kei Urana’s post about how they described the smell of each Gachiakuta character so. I wanted a crack at it. This is different than the perfume post I made a while ago, this is more or less what they would acc smell like. I know these photos r reused, be nice, im tryna gain my motivation back. Anyway im going by order! Yelena: she smells… nice. It’s just not noticeable. She smells powdery and slightly floral. She definitely takes some time to spray body spray or some kind of scent to feel presentable. Corbin: he smells strongly of funeral flowers and incense. Sometimes he also smells like black coffee in the morning. It is unknown if those smells are just lingering from his hobby of visiting random graves or if he’s wearing some kind of cologne. Hyunsoo: not for those who cannot handle strong scents. He smells strongly of brand name cologne and cigarettes. I like to think he wears YSL myslf absolu but that’s just me. Many find it to be a headache but Su-ho says it’s comforting. Su-ho: hardly has a scent. Mostly just smells like clean laundry. Sometimes she may borrow some of Yelena’s soap so she may have a similar scent. Jiahao: He’s a hard worker, he smells like BO and axe body spray (I literally cannot describe it, ifykyk). Sometimes may also smell a bit like booze. Surprisingly doesn’t stink from afar. Chloe: she smells NICE and it’s noticeable but not headache worthy. She definitely takes time to make sure she smells good in the morning and it LASTS. I like to think she likes fruity floral scents, think Juicy Couture or Ed Hardy body sprays. Haoyu: he doesn’t smell good. He smells strongly of paint, and acrylic paints at that so it’s VERY potent. He also doesn’t take very good care of himself… do what you will with that info. Anyway! DISCLAIMER Off the bat, I realize this is a comparison that basically no one asked for LOL However Gucci Guilty Black has become a significant fragrance for me, for reasons outlined below. Feel free to skip to the Comparison or TL;DR sections at the end if you want to be spared the background context haha. All the extra details are completely unnecessary, but I like to write, so i'mma write. BACKSTORY Gucci Guilty Black (renamed to Gucci Guilty Essence after I got this bottle years ago) is one of those designer freshies that a lot of people say is pretty unexceptional and forgettable. HOWEVER, before I started diving into fragrances, it was my only cologne for YEARS. I originally got it from Macy's probably in 2016 or 2017, after asking the woman at the fragrance counter what some of her personal favorites were. I knew nothing -- my only colognes prior to this were Adidas Moves and Ed Hardy Skulls & Roses in middle school and high school haha. So she brought GGB out, sprayed a sample for me, and I essentially was just immediately like, "Yup, ring it up." Didn't even waste time smelling anything else because this scent profile was extremely appealing to me off the bat. It's such a great blend of fresh and clean, with the green coriander / sage notes balanced by florals and spice - makes it extremely well-balanced and versatile IMO. Fast-forward a bit to 2019, I meet my (now) wife and as she was falling in love with me, she also fell in love with this fragrance since it was obviously my go-to (only) option for date nights. To this day even after having her smell all these new fragrances I've been trying out over the past few months, she still says GGB is her favorite - there's just that nostalgic element to it that makes it basically untouchable haha. TODAY / THE ISSUE Fast-forwarding again to today, there are many fragrances I prefer over GGB at this point, but due to my wife's undying love for it, it's one I need to keep on hand. However, I didn't realize until more recently after trying out other fragrances just how pitiful it's performance actually is. Poor projection, no longevity - basically only 1-2 hours before it's a close up skin scent. It's a great fragrance for the intimate moments or if you're trying to stay more low key in an office/around bigger groups of people, following the mantra of being "something to be discovered, not announced." But honestly, sometimes you just gotta say F all that refined subtlety - if I'm wearing a nice fragrance I want it to be (reasonably) noticeable for a decent amount of time! So naturally, getting into the world of dupes over the past few months, I've been on a mission to find a fragrance that replicates the scent profile of GGB as closely as possible, while offering significantly better performance. Enter: Fine'ry Alleged and Dua Dark Guilt. Enough, blabbing, onto the review! THE COMPARISON This one isn't going to take long. In short, both of these dupes do a fantastic job of replicating the profile I described above of Gucci Guilty Black. On both opening and dry down there are essentially no discernable differences I'm picking up. Where the man is separated from the boys is in the performance department, as one would expect given GGB is an EDT, Alleged is EDP, and Dark Guilt is extrait de parfum. Even though it's classified as an EDP, I'm disappointed to report Alleged has only marginally better performance than GGB, but absolutely nothing to write home about. Maybe a solid 2 hours where I can smell it coming off of me vs less than 2 hrs for GGB. There's a chance it could improve if I let it sit and mature for a bit longer - I've had it for about a month. For a $30 target line fragrance I wasn't expecting much, and unfortunately it did not exceed those expectations. Before finding Dark Guilt, I honestly said to myself "at this point I'd rather just buy the real thing" even though it's more expensive (just due to the significance/nostalgia factor). Soon after, I found that Dua also offered a GGB dupe. While being somewhat hesitant due to the less-than-sterling hit-or-miss reputation they have on here, I had hope for Dark Guilt considering it's a higher concentration fragrance. Well, after trying it out today, I'm happy to report it absolutely delivers in the performance category without altering the base DNA that I love from GGB. This is the one I've been looking for! I have yet to wear it out, but right off the bat, the projection and longevity is leagues better than Alleged and Guilty Black, and I assume it'll only get better as it matures more. I sprayed some test strips a few hours earlier and by the time the scent got pretty faint on latter 2 fragrances, Dark Guilt was still projecting pretty strongly. CONCLUSION / TL;DR So, in short - in the rare case that you are someone like me who has an irrational love for Gucci Guilty Black but wishes it had much better performance, I can confidently recommend grabbing a bottle of Dark Guilt by Dua. I live with my boyfriend’s family and need ideas of what to get them for Christmas. I will call each family member by a letter. T (18f) - Pretty much your average 18y girl. Likes trendy things, likes makeup, likes hair, likes ed hardy sets but already has the ones she wanted. Idk if this helps but she was also really into those ugly big fur boots when those were popular. N (43m) - He likes his Xbox but never uses any accessories we buy him for it, likes Fortnite (don’t judge him, men can play video games ok), he loves his car, and that’s about it. E (43f) - She loves shoes but has a ton since we get her some for every holiday pretty much. She has tons of perfumes and body care stocked up from gifts in the past, so I don’t see that as a reasonable gift. Maybe candles, I’m not sure, but she does like the house to smell good. She cooks but I don’t think anything kitchen related would be okay because she might take offense, since she barely eats what she cooks. She does like being on the phone lol and she likes clothes if they’re cool. She’s kind of a tomboy. A (23m) - He likes video games, ummm. In my opinion, he needs some new clothing basics but he’s never said that so idk. I don’t really know too much about his interests tbh. We always tend to get him little gadgets or whatever we think he may find useful. Cologne and/or body care might be a good idea. Maybe hair care too?
