Fairy Garden
Both my 3 year old daughter and I are Pisces and love everything about nature, fairytales and fantasy. I recently had the idea of making a fairy garden by our front door but didn’t take into consideration that it might attract fae (which I’m not very familiar with). Is that okay that we did a fairy garden with dollar tree stuff? Will I attract anything into my home or offend any creatures? submitted by /u/QueenAebSavan to r/faeries [link] [comments]

With or without glasses? - Levy McGarden (Fairy Tail)
Hi cultured people! This is the fourth post of my series about waifus who can canonically be seen with and without glasses. This time I have chosen Levy McGarden, the lovely bookworm (and resident genius) from Fairy Tail. Do you prefer her with or without glasses? Also, which other girls would you like to see in this series? Ideas for Fairy Garden Theme
Hi all! I am currently planning my spring 2027 wedding and the theme is fairy garden. I am a big fan of fantasy novels, I was obsessed with fairy stories as a kid and also love the disney fairies books. The garden part is so easy to incorporate, we will have lots of florals, a trellis arch with florals, cupcakes and cake will be floral themed and some butterfly toppers. It’s all outdoors in a foresty/meadow venue. But I’m not sure how to really incorporate the fairy part so I’m looking for ideas. All I’ve got so far is fairy lights in jars and lanterns. We’ll have a variety of vases in size, shape and color, as well as a variety of candle stick holders. I’m not trying to spend a ton of money on this but like I really want to incorporate the fairy part of a fairy garden and idk what else to do that won’t look cheap. The color palette will be very spring-y, and the only colors I’m avoiding are red, orange and dark tones. I’ll also take ideas that incorporate general fantasy elements as well! Any ideas are greatly appreciated! submitted by /u/swagmastertricycle to r/weddingplanning [link] [comments]

I turned a clearance bin terrarium into a desktop botanical garden
Hi Reddit. I’m back with another little passion project – emphasis on “little” because the entire thing measures 6”x9.5”x10”z You ever see something innocuous, minding its own business on the clearance shelf at Michael’s and before you know it, it takes over your life for a few weeks? So it was for me with this desktop greenhouse. I took it home and after taking an appropriate time to “season” my idea in my mind (read: a month or two) I set to make my vision of a mini botanical garden a reality. I wrapped the foundation in plastic stone textured flooring (meant for Christmas villages) and built a pond at one end of the same. I then gave it a more realistic paint job and designed a rough layout for my plants and displays. I made several trees with polymer clay and moss, cacti out of beads and flocking, cattails out of raffia, hot glue and coffee grounds, and giant monstera leaves out of paper and wire. This part should have taken me a long time, but it really came together fast. I loved finding ways to replicate natural shapes and patterns using bits of this and that. Then I needed to fill my pond with water. For this I used resin. Lily pads were added to the top layer, and I wired in simple LED fairy lights. The batteries are kept in the box under the foundation. In a weekend frenzy I added more plants, metal (paper) steps, new (plexi)glass windows, a roof, wrought-iron vines (paper again), doors that open, and a hose reel disguising the latch. Suddenly, a project I thought would take months was finished… I love my desktop botanical garden. Right now it sits on a simple lazy Susan in my office. But I’d love to get it a proper display box to protect from dust. Thank you for coming on this little journey with me. This piece packs a lot of joy into a tiny space. I always love building miniatures, and I’ll be doing more in the future I’m sure. submitted by /u/TheGeekstress to r/somethingimade [link] [comments]

Low consumption Christmas
I'm feeling positive about Christmas this year. I've completely avoided the shops so far. We don't do gifts for adults in my family and the kids have all got second hand gifts. But our family is small and it has taken a long time to get to this point of everyone agreeing. A challenge I set myself this year was to use up what I already have. So here are some examples for Christmas decorations. 1) old baubles (17+ years) that I have not used for the last few years because of the colour. I repurposed some old notebooks that I'd written in to papier mache. Then I used up some paints I had left over to paint them (very amateur but good enough to me). 2) I have a dehydrator so took some citrus fruit and made garlands with string I already had for the garden. 3) an idea I saw online, was to use some white markers to make a little gingerbread village on cardboard I was hoarding for the compost next year. I'll cut these out and put them along my shelves with fairy lights behind them (I already have those). So whilst not a big grand decoration scheme, I'm feeling quite content with myself. And I think that might be the point. I'm sharing to hopefully inspire others and as a reminder that it's ok to just use what you have. submitted by /u/sallyann_8107 to r/Anticonsumption [link] [comments]

Progression of my daughter’s fairy garden.
So this has been a labour of love going on all summer. My 4 year old is obsessed with fairies. 🧚♀️ I wanted to do a fairy garden but wanted something unique with live plants. This is a planter box on my deck. I ordered the fairies from temu. I’ve been slowly adding them in over the summer. My daughter rushes out every morning to see if there are new fairies around. My mom has also been mailing her “ fairy postcards” and she leaves them notes and drawings in the little mailbox. She also leaves them strawberries 🍓 from our berry garden ( which we take little nibbles out of as well). 😉 submitted by /u/Superior-Aquascapes to r/minigardens [link] [comments]

What is the "Disallowed" word!?
I am trying to upload a barn that I made for a fairy in the Sims 4. The gallery will not let me upload the home because of a "disallowed" word. But I have absolutely no idea what word it could possibly be. I just uploaded the Sim who lives in this home a Fairy named Fern Deerling so I know the words Fairy and Fern and Deerling are all allowed. I am stumped. Can someone please help me play what word does EA think is "disallowed" in this description!? " Are you a #Fairy? Sure. Do you love #Gardening? Of course. Do you love #Fishing? Yes. Are you interested in #FlowerArranging, #Handiness, #Knitting & all things #Apothecary? Who isn't!? Are you a #CatLady? Not really, the cat lets me live here. Do you, ... Have a #Horse? OBVIOUSLY! Right then you need to move in to this #barn today! This is your home. You live here. And your name is #FernDeerling. Welcome home Fern! " I think I have also eliminated the words #CatLady because I can search that term on the gallery. Please, someone help me. submitted by /u/AmalatheaClassic to r/Sims4 [link] [comments]

Fairy Garden Ideas 🧚🏽♀️
Hello friends, I recently moved into a house where the previous owner was definitely attempting a fairy garden but upon closer inspection of the plants in the inner ring (you can’t tell because its so overgrown but theres two circles of rocks in the garden), I noticed what appears to be a bunch of bittersweet and buckthorn :/ how do I go about getting these out of the inner ring and what plants would you recommend for a fairy garden to attract birds and butterflies? I live in rural Michigan so perennials preferred!! submitted by /u/Puzzleheaded_Bad2844 to r/NativePlantGardening [link] [comments]

Kid Garden Ideas
Hello! This will be my first year attempting a garden. I was thinking of making a small raised bed for my 3 year old son to play in (he will be 4 in July) when I worked to make him feel included…although I’m not sure if I will include “real plants” or not. I was thinking more of a “fairy” or “construction zone” garden…maybe with some artificial flowers or something to add That he can “plant” repeatedly. Has anyone done anything similar? Feel free to spam me with ideas or pics. Also… I have zero issues with him helping in the actual garden areas, I just thought this may be a fun addition for him. Thank you! submitted by /u/cayshek to r/gardening [link] [comments]

Sensory garden ideas as way of encouraging children to see magic in nature?
So, I've been trying for a few years now to get the local children into eco-diversity projects and it has gone reasonably well. I've made fairy gardens around the trees and released butterflies and started a little alleyway trash garden. Next year, I'm trying to get some schools to come into one of the gardens I've been renovating - it's at a nursing home, so it's also being done for the sake of the elderly residents. I'm turning part of the grounds into a sensory garden for the residents but also want to double it as a fairy garden. My idea is to bring the kids in, show them around the garden and then take them inside to tell a more informative version of the hungry caterpillar. I'm crocheting a giant caterpillar and all the fruit and veg it eats on its journey to becoming a butterfly. The plan is to get them to ask a question or tell a fact they know about anything bug/animal/plant/garden related and then they get to reach into the caterpillar and pull out a crocheted fruit or veg. I'm going to explain the life cycle of the caterpillar, how they call come back to eat and lay eggs on a host plant, but how this caterpillar is so hungry it ate everything. Then they're going to re-feed the food into the caterpillar and we're going to go outside and release some of the real butterflies that I have in bug cages - I collected pest caterpillars in spring and let them hatch in peace before letting them back into the garden. So, my question: any ideas about how to make a magical sensory garden? I'm already thinking sunflowers and some herbs for the sake of smelling, but any cool design ideas you've implemented in your own space to make it appear magical? Would really like some ideas so I can start planning now. Edit: Thank you all so much for all your ideas and suggestions, I've had so many new thoughts and have be told of plants I never knew existed. This was such a lovely interaction, thank you all. submitted by /u/Thumbs_of_Green to r/gardening [link] [comments]

Anyone else feel like America is just sucking the soul out of everyone?
Me, (20f) I have been working since I was 15. I know I’m new to this whole “real world” but I’m extremely exhausted. The only thing I do anymore is work and sleep. I’m married, so on both of our off days we spend together In the house. He’s on night shift so it’s hard to get up and do stuff. I feel like it’s hard to do anything anymore. The food is poison, never have enough money because of inflation. Like? What’s the point. Eat, sleep, work. I feel like a rotating door. Any ideas on how to get out of this cycle? I feel like it’s only going to get worse, considering the state of the nation. EDIT: I want to live a humble slow life alone with my husband. I don’t want to climb corporate ladders or become rich. Money is not freedom, it’s greedy and self serving. I want to grow a garden, can food, have a few goats and chickens. You have to make payment after payment in order to live like this, house, land, utilities, land tax, transportation. It’s a lot. Sometimes I feel like I’m living in a fairy tale where I can be naive. That it can definitely happen. On the other hand, how can one achieve such things when everything is against you? submitted by /u/Killer_Echo0 to r/conspiracy [link] [comments]

I made a fairy garden. I think someone moved in
It started out as a fun project. My daughter is obsessed with all things magical. Unicorns, fairies, everything. So I thought we could have fun building a fairy garden with her. Boy, was I wrong. We started in the west corner of the lawn, next to the vegetable garden. “This is their house, see?” I said, gesturing to a little stone cottage I’d bought at a flea market. “Ooooh!” She was immediately hooked. “And we can make them a path, out of these stones… and a little pond… and some moss for grass.” The whole project took two hours, but looked amazing. A cobblestone path, only two inches wide, wound up to the stone cottage. Mounds of moss sat on either side, mimicking tiny grass, and branches stuck in the ground were tiny trees. We’d even dug a small pond: a 6-inch-wide hole lined with aluminum foil we’d painted blue. “Wow. I had no idea you were so crafty,” my wife said, when we showed her. “It’s my little secret. So you won’t ask me to help you redecorate the bathroom.” She stuck her tongue out at me. “When will the fairies move in, Daddy?” Ava asked. “Maybe tonight!” “Can I leave them food? Maybe that will make them move in faster.” “Sure! How about some of Mommy’s chocolate?” Katie frowned at me. “ …Just kidding. I think they’d love a pretzel.” That night, after Ava had gone to sleep, I went outside and took a bite of the pretzel. In the morning, we told her an elaborate story of how we’d heard them walking around at night. Little footsteps on the grass, hushed whispers, and tinkly laughter. It’s okay to lie to your kids about things that spark their imagination. Right? *** It was really Katie who took the whole thing to the next level. That evening, as dusk began to fall, I saw a light on in the fairy home. A soft white glow, coming from the upstairs window, reflecting in the tiny ripples of the pond. Katie, you genius. Ava was thrilled when she saw it. “Mommy! Daddy! The fairies have moved in!” Katie smiled at me—a knowing smile. I winked back at her. “Maybe they’re like us. A fairy mommy, a fairy daddy, and a fairy girl!” “Maybe they are.” “Can I meet them, Daddy? Pleeeaaase?” I felt a twinge of guilt. Maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to lie to Ava, after all. But Katie was quick on her feet. “Fairies are allergic to people,” she said, jumping in. “You know how you sneeze when you go over Samantha’s house? Because you’re allergic to her cat? Well, fairies are allergic to us. So if we go over there, we’ll make them really sick.” Ava pouted. “Okay. I don’t want to make them sick.” Then her face lit up. “Maybe I can see them through the window! I’m going to stay up and watch them. All night.” Yikes. “They already went to sleep,” Katie replied. “And we need to go to sleep, soon, too.” “Why do they sleep with the light on?” “They’re afraid of the dark,” I interjected. “Oh.” After Ava fell asleep, we retreated to the bedroom. “That was brilliant. Putting a light in there.” Her brows furrowed. “I didn’t put a light in there.” “What?” “I thought you did.” My heart dropped. “You… you didn’t put the light in there?” She shook her head. “But if you didn’t, then who—” Oh. “It must have come with one. A solar-powered one. And it didn’t charge up the first day.” We’d had the same issue with the lights I got for the garden. They needed a full day to charge in the sun before turning on at night. “And you only paid fifteen bucks, right? Pretty sweet.” “Yeah.” I stared out at the glowing light. Just a twinkle in the darkness—like a distant star. I smiled and closed the curtains. *** “Mommy! Daddy! I saw the fairies!” Ava was bouncing up and down at the breakfast table, unable to contain her excitement. “When did you see them?” Katie asked, not looking up as she poured syrup onto her plate. “Last night! I woke up from a bad dream, and looked out the window, and they were out there!” I shot Katie a look. “What… exactly… did you see?” “Fairies!” “What did they look like?” “Fairies!” Okay, this wasn’t going anywhere. “What were they doing?” “They were playing music and dancing! But then—then I think they saw me because they stopped dancing. I waved to them. They didn’t wave back though.” She frowned. “Maybe they’re shy.” “She has such a big imagination,” Katie said, as Ava ran to the window to look for them. “I bet she’s going to be an author someday.” “Mm-hmm,” I said, slightly disturbed by Ava’s account. Ava spent most of the day playing outside, watching the fairy garden. She even dropped a goldfish cracker in the pond—“look, Daddy, the pond has fish now!”—and added a handwritten sign in front of the house. It was around 4 pm that I noticed it. I’d just sat down in the lawn chair with another iced coffee. But then I saw it: something pale and gray, barely poking up from the grass. I got up and walked over, my heart beginning to pound. Crouched down, parted the grass. It was a little mushroom. Small and gray, popping up from the dark soil. A circular cap fanning out from a thin stem, supported by dark brown gills. “Ava, look. A mushroom!” “Fairies LOVE mushrooms! They use them like chairs and umbrellas and all kinds of things!” “… You know what, I bet they planted that mushroom on purpose.” And so, the fairy story continued. Little did I know how terrifying it was about to get. *** Snap. I woke up with a start. Vivid dreams hung in my mind, of little people with wings and sharp teeth and tiny faces contorted into sneers. Dancing around their little home, then standing statue still as they noticed Ava watching them. I looked at the clock. 3:42 AM. I rolled over, sighing—and froze. A flurry of movement outside. Someone in the yard. Walking towards the fairy garden. Someone small... “Ava. Oh, God, no.” I jumped out of bed and raced down the stairs. Threw the backdoor open. “Ava! Come back in here!” She didn’t turn around. I ran out into the yard, the grass cold and wet against my feet. “Ava!” “Daddy,” she said softly, not removing her gaze from the tiny stone cottage. “When I’m calling to you—you need to listen.” I joined her in front of the fairy garden, my heart hammering in my chest. “Why are you out here?” “I wanted to see the fairies. They were dancing again.” “Ava, honey…” I swallowed, the guilt lead in my body. “There aren’t any fairies. Okay? I’m so sorry. Mom and I made it up. This is just some stupid little house I bought at a flea market. And I ate the pretzel, not them. We’ve been… we’ve been lying to you, and it wasn’t nice, and I’m sorry.” The door creaked open behind us as Katie walked out, still wearing her cat pajamas. She rushed over to us. “What’s going on?” “Ava was out here to see the fairies. And I… I told her they’re not real.” She turned to me, slowly. “They are real, Daddy. I saw them.” “No. I don’t know what you saw. But you didn’t see fairies.” “But, Daddy—” “I think we can talk about this in the morning,” Katie said, forcing a smile. “Let’s get back to bed, okay?” She put her arm around Ava and led her back into the house. I just stood there, by the fairy garden, motionless. Then I picked up the little cottage. The stone exterior looked purple in the moonlight. The little door hung ajar. The two downstairs windows were dark, their tiny flowerboxes in shadow. But the upstairs window—a circular one hanging above the door—glowed white. The glass was slightly frosted, but I could make out vague shapes inside. The artist had taken the time to create the illusion of a room. I squinted, trying to make out any details— A dark shape flashed by the window. I yelped and dropped the cottage. It bounced into the grass, rolled over the pond (which was now sludgy with goldfish crackers), and came to a stop inches from the mushroom. Face down, the windows pressed into the grass. I didn’t pick it up. I ran into the house, slipping in the wet grass, my heart pounding in my chest. A bug. A bug got caught into it. It must’ve been attracted to the light… and then couldn’t find a way out. That’s what I told myself as I locked the door, clicked the deadbolt, and slipped back into bed. Just a bug. *** Katie and I sat across from each other, deep circles under our eyes, as Ava watched TV in the other room. “We should’ve realized she’d go out there looking for them,” Katie said, as she took a sip of tea. “She’s going to be so upset when I throw it out.” “Why don’t we just bring it inside? Put it in her room, even. So she can check on the fairies anytime.” “Put the fairy cottage… in her room?” Katie nodded. My stomach twisted. “Uh… I guess we can bring it inside. But let’s put it in the kitchen. If we put it in her room, she’ll stay up all night.” “Good point.” I couldn’t fight the unsettling feeling as I brought the cottage inside. The light in the upstairs window shone through the frosted glass. Bits of wet grass stuck to the stone exterior. I almost expected to feel movement inside—the scampering of little feet, panicking, as I relocated their home. But of course, there was nothing. Ava was so happy. “The fairies are with us now!” she kept saying, running over to the cottage and peering in the windows. “Do you think they like cookies?” She put one at their doorstep. “Or maybe cereal!” The wet plop of soggy corn flakes hitting the table. But the day went well, as we added little accessories to the indoor fairy home, went out to lunch, and played some board games. It was that night that things went south. Thump. 3:22 AM. I wasn’t actually sure if I’d dreamed the noise or not, but I figured I’d better check on Ava. Yawning loudly, I pulled myself out of bed and shuffled down the hallway. But when I opened her door, I found her fast asleep, wrapped up in her unicorn blanket. Good. I started back towards the bedroom— Thump! It wasn’t a loud noise. Just a soft thump. Could be the house settling, water rushing through the pipes and knocking in the walls. A badly-placed toy falling off a table, the fridge making ice. Still, my heart was pounding as I slowly descended the stairs. “I’m calling 911,” I called out—even though I’d left my phone upstairs. I didn’t expect a response. I truly didn’t. I’d only said it in the tiny, fraction of a chance that someone had broken in and could hear. But I did get a response. And it wasn’t frantic footsteps to the door, or a getaway car revving its engine. It was something far worse. A giggle. Coming from the kitchen. Horror flooded me. “Who’s there? Come out here where I can see you!” I stepped through the living room. Taking a deep breath, I paused behind the wall—and then jumped out into the kitchen. It was empty. I stared at the only source of light in the kitchen. That one upstairs window of the fairy house, glowing like it always did. I stared at it without blinking. Wondering if I’d see that horrible little shadow flit by again. Get a hold of yourself. There might be a real person in the house, and you’re looking for freaking fairies! I tore my eyes away from the cottage and scanned the kitchen. Empty. I poked my head out into the other doorway, where the kitchen connected with the dining room. Also empty. Everything was silent now, too, still as death. I sucked in a deep breath and returned to the kitchen. But something felt… different. A horrible sense of dissonance, unease. Like watching a happy scene in a horror movie, knowing the smiles and laughter are too much, and the killer’s going to pop out any second. I took a step towards the fairy home. Then another. And another. Tiny little faces flashed through my mind, their features contorted into horrific snarls, their eyes glowing unnatural yellow. Get a hold of yourself. I was standing right in front of the cottage now. Staring into that little white light. There’s. No. Such. Thing. As. Fairies. I reached out and grabbed the fairy home. It felt strange in my hands—warm. Warmer than ceramic should be. I stared into that window, my heart thrumming in my chest. And then it happened. A flash of black, across the window. It fell from my hands. I saw it in slow motion—the stone cottage careening to the ground, the jagged crack splitting it in two. The ceramic halves rolled away from each other. And from the innards— Something flew out. Something terrible and dark. It flew at my face and I screamed, swatting at it helplessly with my hands. I screamed again and then— No. It was a beetle. Just an ordinary beetle, haplessly buzzing around the room, trying to find a way out. Footsteps sounded above me now, as Katie rushed out of bed. As Ava began to cry. “Oh, Ava, I’m so sorry.” I looked down at the remains of the fairy house, hopelessly destroyed. Wait… What... is that? I crouched to the ground. Nestled inside the ceramic was something small, shiny, white. I reached over and picked it up. The smooth surface was warm against my hands—almost hot. I turned it over. Then I realized what it was. A camera. With a microphone, a speaker… and a little white light glowing on it. Showing it was recording. submitted by /u/RobertMort to r/nosleep [link] [comments]

UPDATE: AITA For Not Giving My Room To My Foster Sister Even If It'd Make Life Easier For My Mother?
Hey reddit, thanks for all the comments and suggestions on my post (here) I really appreciate it. We looked into it and, although many suggested it, D would not have been allowed to have a heater in her room at night as it is a hazard and usually she doesn’t have an issue in the room until long after she’s gone to bed so it’d be pointless to heat the room up in the day. As someone here pointed out, my room has a door to the garden and allowing foster children unsupervised access out of the house is never a good idea and I doubt the social worker would have approved. I did point out my mother’s hypocrisy, as many suggested, at refusing to give up her own room and she seemed to drop it after that. So many people had suggestions and I tried to look into all of them. One suggestion was a weighted blanket that someone described to ‘feel like a hug’ so we have bought one of those. It was the equivalent of $27 so not a bad find, but unfortunately that did not seem to help any more than the other blankets. We also gave her my old hot water bottle, it’s got one of those fluffy cases that looks like a penguin, but that didn’t work either and she still didn't want to sleep in her bed at night. However, someone suggested a blanket that looks like a mermaid’s tail so we bought one and she absolutely loves it. She’s had the blanket for two nights now and there’s been no complaints, so we’re hoping that that has been sorted. Also, in regards to my relationship with D, some people commented that I harboured resentment and I want to make it clear I do not. I know it’s not her fault my mother makes weird decisions on her behalf and I don’t blame her for being fostered. I took a commentor’s advice and made a pillow fort with her and we hung up fairy lights to try to make the room feel more like her own and I bought her some stickers that she’s now covering her headboard with so she seems to be doing alright. I'll admit that we're not as close as my biological sisters and I and that perhaps I could make more of an effort, but I have a lot going on right now and she doesn't seem to mind. Cheers again reddit! ETA: I'm a 17 yr old guy btw everyone seems to think I'm a girl haha. ETA 2: Thank you all so much for the comments and awards :) submitted by /u/AngleAussie to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]
