Fiberglass or concrete? Cost is $11k difference
I have two pool design options. My space is limited so the pool can only be 9feet wide. Pool 1: fiberglass, enchantment 9x24 comes with 1 light, no bubblers. Pool is set more off to the side. Pool 2: concrete. 9x28ft. Comes with 2 bubblers, 2 color changing lights. Pool sits more in the center of the Lanai. Seems to include a lot more features in the price but also more expensive. The cost is around $11k difference, concrete is more expensive. Pools are under 80k I have read good things about fiberglass pools but don't have much first-hand experience with them. Most people here in Florida seem to have concrete pools. Is the concrete pool a better option? I'm torn between the two designs. I thought fiberglass was going to be way cheaper and would make the decision to go with fiberglass easy but the 11k difference is reasonable to consider both. submitted by /u/TB-lightning to r/pools [link] [comments]

This sub saved me from a fiberglass disaster- thank you
Before this sub, I had never heard of fiberglass in a mattress. Hadn't even thought of it. When I was about to replace my old mattress, I felt the different layers in it as I was moving it off the bed frame. I wondered if maybe some of the layers inside might still be salvageable, to save some money. Reached for the cover zipper, and then... I remembered what I'd come across on this sub about fiberglass. Carefully opened it just an inch and shined a flashlight inside. Immediately, FIBERGLASS FIRESOCK. Like, identical to this sub's example of a fiberglass firesock. Covered in short, sharp, shiny threads. I immediately closed it and scanned the area for stray fiberglass. Picked up a single thread with a damp paper towel. Thought I was safe. And then thought, hey, maybe I should check the outside of the mattress too... Nothing near the edges, but in the center? Fiberglass threads. And little sparkly fibers were already starting to shed onto the surrounding area. It was a 20 year old mattress with some wear and tear to the cover, which is probably how the fiberglass was starting to escape. Without this sub, I wouldn't have known to even look for fiberglass- much less how to recognize it, or how impossible it is to get rid of. Thanks to that knowledge, I was able to haul the mattress out ASAP. The fiberglass leakage seems to have been pretty recent, so the contaminated area was small. Ran my HEPA filter air purifier while lint rolling the floor, the wall, the bed posts, the clothes I'd worn when moving the mattress, etc etc. I think I'm safe. If not for this sub, I would have taken off the cover and fiberglass would have gone everywhere. I wouldn't have known what it was, or understood the mistake I had made until it was too late. So thank you for getting the word out submitted by /u/ShiraCheshire to r/Mattress [link] [comments]

The steel roadster tank will be a direct fit except you need the rear strap and its hardware. The roadster, highrider and interstate tanks had different rear straps. The steel tank also has the fill cap hinge at the rear while the fiberglass was at the front. No steel tank used the rear rubber band and bobbins. Also i would spring for the emgo over the india made tank.

Fiberglass in my room
I am so afraid of fiberglass. I researched diligently to make sure the new mattress I bought wouldn’t have fiberglass. But u didn’t research quite as hard for the headboard. But when I opened it every piece was covered in those evil shiny slivers. I didn’t even take the main part out of the box, I shut it right back up and back down my stairs. I don’t know what to do. I know I won’t die, but i struggle with contamination ocd and I’ve heard you can NEVER truly clean up fiberglass. Is that true? Is there anything I can do to get rid of it? Sorry for the long and disjointed post, I’m literally crying about this in my shower, any advice or even if you’ve had similar experiences is appreciated submitted by

Glass fibers are ruining my life, and I don’t know what to do…
Had a job in an assembly role, building and insulating heated ovens. No PPE used except safety glasses. Used thermal insulation, rolled batts & some rigid board. Came home everyday covered in the shit (didn’t realize this until it was too late) It’s all over my car, and in my house from undressing inside covered in the fibers. Recently bought a grill accessory (temperature controller) that has a fiberglass gasket that shredded because I couldn’t get the damn thing on. So it’s all over my grill, and got all over me and my wife as she was helping. As God as my witness, I feel like jumping off a bridge is the only way I’ll get away from this shit. It affects my mental health in such a way, nothing helps. I’ve turned into an alcoholic trying to drink my thoughts about it away. I don’t buy myself any new clothing, or anything for my house because I feel it’ll be contaminated once I wear it, or go in my vehicle. I wish this post was a joke, but it isn’t. I’m a 34 year old male and I cry sometimes because it bothers me that much. I feel at times too, my wife is going to divorce me because it’s all I talk and worry about. Anything that you track into your house/vehicle can eventually be cleaned, this shit just does not go away. Honestly, what the fuck do I do? Because I’m losing it, FAST. submitted by /u/ZeroNowhere1990 to r/fiberglass [link] [comments]

Been inhaling fiberglass since 2018
Hello Reddit, I'm freaking out almost to the point of having a full blown panic attack. It's currently almost 9pm about to go to sleep when I got this ad on Instagram about Nectar having lawsuits regarding fiberglass in their mattresses. For the past few weeks I've been having very bad wheezing when sleeping, always feel like there's something in my throat, or a dry cough. I adopted two cars which I just figured is my allergies. I usually clean and dust on my days off and always during the morning or day time but today my cat managed to break through the barriers we put so they don't go under the bed. When I shined the light down there it's like someone threw a bag of glitter under there. We've had this mattress since 2018 maybe closer to 2019. I shined the light on my furniture, shoes, everything in my room and it's covered in fiberglass-glitter. What brands do you recommend fiberglass free in US? Also, how terrible are my lungs now that I've been inhaling this for YEARS? Thanks for reading and replying in advance. submitted by /u/caurelius6 to r/Mattress [link] [comments]

Do fiberglass pools last forever if you keep resurfacing the gel coat?
I live in south Florida and put in an offer to buy a house that has a fiberglass pool. The pool was installed around 1995, within a screened enclosure attached to the house, and completely surrounded by concrete. I keep seeing that fiberglass pools can last 30-50+ years but can’t tell if that’s just before the initial gel coat wears out and needs to be resurfaced or if I should expect to need to remove the entire fiberglass shell at that point. In your experience, is a fiberglass pool able to last forever with the original shell or do I need to expect to have a huge expense at some point if I get this house? submitted by /u/r3dn3ckf1sh3r to r/pools [link] [comments]

Why would you ever pick anything besides a fiberglass pool?
I just started researching pools and would love some input from this group because I’m just not understanding why anyone would pick a vinyl or gunite pool over fiberglass. Fiberglass: -Low Maintenance -Quicker insulation -Less chemicals -Similar durability/longevity of gunite -More energy efficient -Handles Saltwater better -$5-10k less than gunite -Size/shape restriction Gunite: -Customizable shape and size -Durability -Needs re-plaster every 10-20 years ($10k?) -Harder to balance chemicals -Harder to clean -Higher Maintenance Cost Vinyl excels in: -Lower initial cost -New liners every 7-10 years ($4-5k) -Scratches easily -Least durable What am I missing? I see most posts saying to go gunite, but fiberglass seems to be the clear winner. submitted by /u/Toasty707 to r/pools [link] [comments]

Just as a FYI just because something isn't a carcinogen, doesn't mean it won't tear up your lungs and cause difficulty breathing when you are old.
