I almost had to call an ambulance because I refused to poop in front of a guy.
So the title pretty much says it all, but here’s the full story for anyone who wants to witness one of the most humiliating experiences of my life. About a year ago I met this guy on Hinge. We hit it off immediately and he was genuinely the sweetest guy ever. We had a lot in common, and on our first date he cooked me traditional food I told him I grew up eating. This man spent EIGHT HOURS making broth for noodle soup. And there’s honestly nothing sexier than a man who can cook. After two bottles of wine and great conversation, one thing led to another and I ended up staying over. We both agreed we wanted to see each other again soon. Important detail: we’d only been talking for around 1–2 months and had only met once before this. So second date comes around. Since I lived out of town and it was kind of long distance, I planned on staying a few days. That morning though, I had the worst stomach pain imaginable. I also realized I hadn’t had a proper bowel movement in like 4–5 days. Weirdly, not that unusual for me. (I genuinely don’t understand how some people poop every single day.) Anyway, we spend the whole day together having a great time. Then nighttime comes. We’re cuddling in bed watching a movie when suddenly I start cold sweating and feeling nauseous. Immediately I think: “There is absolutely no way I’m about to take a massive shit in this tiny apartment while this gorgeous man is lying two meters away.” But it keeps getting worse. Eventually he notices I look pale and asks if I’m okay. He tells me not to be shy if I need the bathroom. He was being very sweet about it, so eventually I give in — but I make him put on AirPods first. I sit on that toilet fighting for my life. Nothing. Absolutely NOTHING. It genuinely felt like a concrete brick was lodged in my rectum. I convince myself maybe it just “needs to marinate a little” and go back to bed hoping I can sneak off later during the night. Ten minutes later I’m literally seeing stars. At this point he realizes something is seriously wrong, and I finally admit that I think I’m severely constipated and feel like I might pass out. It’s midnight, everything’s closed, but he finds a 24/7 pharmacy in the other end of town and offers to go get something. Before he leaves, we actually call the emergency room for advice because I’m convinced something inside me is about to rupture. I’m half crying while trying to explain to the nurse that I haven’t pooped in days and now feel like I’m dying. The nurse calmly tells us it’s probably severe constipation, recommends trying over-the-counter remedies first, and says to come in if I start vomiting or the pain gets unbearable. He comes back after biking to the other end of town with fiber packets. Looking back… probably not the best move. Attempt #1: Fiber powder mixed into a giant glass of water. As you can imagine, nothing happens. We briefly consider calling an ambulance before deciding I should just sleep it off. The next day he goes to work while I spend the entire day fighting demons in his apartment. When he comes home that night, he’s stopped by the pharmacy again and asked the employee for “the strongest thing they have.” Attempt #2: The suppositories. At this point I’m standing there questioning every life choice that led me here. I barely know this man, and now I’m considering sticking medicine up my ass in his bathroom. Then he goes: “Do you want me to help you put it in? 🙂” I wish I was joking. Now listen. Under normal circumstances I would NEVER agree to this. But my digestive tract was moments away from exploding and my dignity had already left my body hours ago. So I say yes. This man puts on a glove and inserts the suppository for me. And then… Nothing happens. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? At this point I’m emotionally broken. That’s when he remembers the final medication. The last resort. Attempt #3: The enema. We open the box and pull out what can only be described as a medieval torture device: an enormous tube attached to a bottle filled with stool-softening liquid. Not a tiny little medical bottle either. This thing looked HUGE to me in that moment — like someone had taken a full-sized sports drink bottle, attached a hose to it, and decided “yeah, this belongs inside a human being.” An enema. I stare at it in complete horror while this poor man continues trying to comfort me through one of the worst moments of my life. Then somehow it gets even more absurd. He sets up a whole little station on the bathroom floor: a towel, a blanket, a pillow and a scented candle for vibes I guess. Like we’re preparing for a spa day instead of a medical emergency. I lie down. He inserts the tube and starts pumping what feels like an entire family-sized Coke bottle into my ass. Then he reads the instructions. Apparently I’m supposed to HOLD IT for 30 minutes. THIRTY MINUTES????? Ten minutes in, I’m sweating. Fifteen minutes in, I’m fighting for my life. And during all of this, he’s sitting there holding one of my hands while timing me on his phone like a supportive midwife. I keep yelling: “I CAN’T HOLD IT ANY LONGER.” And he keeps going: “Just two more minutes, you can do it.” And he had been saying that for the past 25 minutes…. Finally the timer goes off. I shove him out of the bathroom, slam the door shut, and sit down on the toilet. What happened next can only be described as Niagara Falls. The relief was so intense I genuinely think I ascended spiritually for a moment. After what felt like an eternity spent inside that bathroom, I finally gather the courage to leave the bathroom and face him again. I was fully convinced this would be the last time we ever saw each other. Instead, I walk out and he’s just lying there smiling at me. “You good again? :)” Anyway, we’ve now been together for about a year, and somehow this story became one of our funniest memories together. So yeah. Nothing tests a new relationship quite like severe constipation. Edit: anyone have a good idea for an anniversary gift to him?? (It’s kinda tomorrow… and I bought him a starwars Lego head, but any additional ideas???) Would be bonus if it was funny. submitted by /u/erlowkdownbad to r/offmychest [link] [comments]

AITAH for telling my wife that our baby can’t go to her mom’s
I am NOT OOP, OOP is u/Oploplou Originally posted to r/AITAH AITAH for telling my wife that our baby can’t go to her mom’s Triger Warnings: fungus exposure, possible mental health struggles, child neglect Original Post: May 9, 2026 When my child was born, I expressed concern over the state of the house. It had been smoked in for years, and it was not properly cleaned. There were spiderwebs all over the ceilings, a layer of dust that was so thick it was literally laughed at by my sister when she cleaned it, she’s a professional cleaner so I paid for her to clean the main areas of the house for the baby to be there. Well during this clean, she opened the cabinet underneath the sink, and was met with it being “entirely full of black mold.” “Like to the point I’m confident you can’t clean it and it needs to be removed.” She said both her and my wife made direct eye contact with the cabinet, but I was never told. When the cleaning was done, I told my wife that if the bedroom wasn’t cleaned by her mom, she refused to let my sister do it, and the main areas didn’t stay clean, I’d not be okay with the baby going there. Well fast forward 13 months, and the bedroom isn’t clean, and the main areas are already building back their same level of dirt, dust etc. from before, and I was just told about the cabinet by my sister. That night when my wife got home, I told her plainly that I did not want him to go to her house until at the very least that was taken care of. She said they wouldn’t replace it because they don’t have the money, even though I know they just remodeled part of the kitchen, bought a new fridge, and signed a loan for a brand new 2026 off the lot car. So now she’s acting very short with me, and I feel like she’s treating me as if it’s my fault somehow. AITAH for this? TLDR; wife’s mom’s house has a cabinet full of black mold. I said 13 month old can’t go until it’s clean/gone. (Reposted to fix title spelling error) AITAH has no consensus bot, OOP was unanimously NTA Relevant Comments Commenter 1: NTA. This stopped being about hurt feelings the moment ‘entirely full of black mold’ entered the conversation. A 13 month old’s health matters more than avoiding awkward family tension. Honestly the bigger issue is that your wife apparently knew about it for over a year and never told you. I can understand her feeling defensive because it’s her mom, but you’re not banning the child out of spite you’re asking for a basic safe environment. OOP: She said something to the effect of “the cabinets never open, and it’s never been a problem”. But obviously that doesn’t matter that the cabinets not opened. I also had to pause at that, because it made me wonder how long it’s been like that for her to say it’s never been a problem. Commenter 2: The second your child is old enough, they'll be crawling around OPENING EVERY SINGLE CABINET!!!!!!!!!!! She knew about it. She's been enabling her mom! It's easier than saying "you have a serious problem, you NEED HELP & I won't bring a baby anywhere near this danger zone!" YOU need to put your foot down as the parent-it's your job to protect your child!!!!! At this point, you have enough evidence to leave, ask for sole custody AND WIN because you're the only one who cares about what's best for your child! Fuck it, tell her "everything is changing NOW & we are prioritizing our baby's safety FIRST AND FOREMOST! If you can't get on board, then I'll be leaving, I will get sole custody & I will make sure you never have a visit that isn't supervised & IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT!!!!!!!!!" She needs to wake tf up & face reality now, BEFORE something terrible happens! You need to make it clear you aren't joking or exaggerating & you will not compromise when it comes to your child's safety!!!!!!!!!!! OOP: She understands that I’m not messing around. The baby is not allowed to go there, and if I find out it happens, I will be taking action, I don’t know that I’ll leave her immediately (partially because I legitimately could not afford to be a single parent with sole custody), but that works be the very last straw so to speak. I love my wife with everything that I have, but I can’t risk my child’s health and safety, for me to not be sad. Commenter 3: Gma can look after baby at your house. Black mold is the reason I got pneumonia 3x as a child and have lifelong asthma. Black mold and cockroaches are some leading causes of respiratory issues in children. Do not compromise. That's your baby. OOP: I also had pneumonia and bronchitis as a child, and we believe the mold that was found in our basement shortly after, right by my game area, played a role. Commenter 4: NTA. Even ignoring the rest of it, black mold poses an objective risk to your baby's respiratory system. That stuff can take out adults with established immune systems and make them severely unwell. What's more important to your wife? Her feelings about going to her parent's shabby house, or her child's health? OOP: She has an EXTREMELY close relationship with her mom. I knew there’d be some feelings, but more than 72 hours out and I still feel like the bad guy. Commenter 5: NTA. Make sure she doesn't sneak him over there. OOP: We have each other’s locations, so I’m fairly confident I’d catch it if she did, but she also knows that would be the last straw Commenter 6: NTA. She's being manipulative to get her way. Her mum/ parents obviously have hoarding tendencies and that is a serious mental health condition that your wife is not acknowledging. Your child is not safe in that house. Is the grandma super attached to her stuff too? What if your kid breaks something that grandma considers to be of value? Reactions of people with hoarding disorders can be aggressive or violent. This is due to their condition. I'm not accusing her of being a horrible person or anything. It's just a lot to take into consideration. Your wife needs to be able to talk about this. Unfortunately, as we grow older, so do our parents and it can sometimes be difficult to admit that they're affected by serious health conditions. OOP: It’s actually not hoarding. It’s just a lack of cleaning. The house isn’t full like that. You can comfortably walk into every room, there are no piles etc. But I suspect that there is some base level similarities between hoarding and whatever happens in the brains of people who let their houses get to this point. I don’t have contempt for them over this, it’s just hard for me because I was raised in an EXTREMELY clean home, so it’s a serious juxtaposition for me. OOP on his MIL's house's background and how it came to be with the mold. Was this the same house OOP's wife grew up in? OOP: It’s not the house she grew up in, but she was there often. It’s her grandparents’ home. After her grandpa passed, her mom moved in with her grandma. I’m not sure what’s caused the house to get to this point. I’m told it wasn’t always like this by a family member that I have a very good relationship with, she feels like my “insider” sometimes. I know her house definitely wasn’t as clean as mine was growing up, white glove cleaned weekly, but I don’t think it was to this point. No hoarding. Maybe the baseline problems that present alongside it, but there aren’t years of shit just piled up and strewn across the home. I have been trying to be very careful with how I approach this, because I know it’s a pile of tinder, with gas on it. We had the initial conversation that I didn’t want our child going there, and since we’ve barely spoken. She says she’s not trying to make it out to be my fault, but it still feels that way. I’m worried about the backlash from her family when she takes the step to tell her mom, but ultimately as I’ve said, this is something I will not play around with. Update: May 11, 2026 (two days later) UPDATE: AITAH for telling my wife our baby can’t go to her mom’s Well, it’s been a little more than two days since the post, and things have only gotten worse. Firstly I’d like to thank everyone for all the comments, and suggestions. It really helped me during this. So what’s happened? A whole lot of her not talking to me, led to a small fight last night. (I know it was Mother’s Day, I’ll get to that.) I came home from work, and put on a good face. I said happy Mother’s Day again, I asked if she had a good day, asked about the gift etc. Everything was cool until it was time for dinner. For a little additional context here, I do, and I mean this literally, all of the cooking and cleaning. She will put her own clothes away, and wash the babies dishes specifically when asked, other than that I’m on my own. It’s never not been a problem, but it’s also something that I’ve never felt comfortable ending things over. Well last night I got home, and everything was a fucking mess. It was like she just let the baby run through the house and throw things every which way, and picked up nothing. This in and of itself is not totally abnormal, but the level today was completely different than others. I ignored it at first, as I knew I needed to start making dinner ASAP because she told me she forgot to feed the baby lunch, and he was getting hangry. This immediately was like, wtf do you mean you didn’t feed the baby lunch? So I went to start cooking and realized we were out of the base for the meal I was making. I asked if she’d rather stay home or go to the store to have a minute to herself. She went to the store, I gave baby a shower. When I got him in the shower, immediately I could smell something weird. Under his neck appeared to be dry milk. The child drinks too fast, and sometimes it spills out of his mouth. We’ve always known this since he started in sippy cups, and I always wipe his face/neck off after a bottle to prevent this. Well I guess she had never thought to do that. So between these three things, I was a little upset when she got home. I wasn’t taking it out on her in anyway, I was just more quiet, and doing my cooking. She eventually asked me if the baby upset me while she was gone, and I said yes for the sake of saving face (again, it was Mother’s Day). Give it about 5 minutes of us not really talking, and she says to me, why are you so pissed off at the baby. Now I’m faced with a decision, do I try and fabricate some story as to why I’m mad at my child, or do I tell her the truth. I went with the latter. I won’t get fully into specifics, but I told her my problems. She cried, and said she would do better. I reminded her that we’ve been here before (her saying she’ll do better about these exact things), and she cried harder. I think it’s finally settling in for her that I’m serious, and that this may end up with us not together. I know she loves me, but I question greatly if she respects me. It’s become a growing trend in our relationship over the past 3-4 years, and I’m finally becoming aware of it in the last 6 months or so. As far as the situation with her moms, I found out last night that she hadn’t even told her yet. So now I’m stuck in this weird holding pattern of waiting for the other shoe to drop. I know there’s going to be backlash, and I’m prepared to weather that storm, but the waiting for it to happen is starting to really spark my anxiety. I’m considering telling her mother myself, as it was my decision, but I know my wife will feel undercut by this. It’s the last form of control she has over the situation. I’d love some advice on how to handle that if anyone’s got some. Anyhow, thank you all again. The advice in the first post really helped. Edit: yes she’s been treated for PPD. She’s not currently because it cleared up. Yes I understand this could be another trigger. No I’m not opposed to her getting treatment, it’s just been less than a week. Edit 2: it is not possible for me to arrange childcare for the days I’m at work. Financially we don’t have the means, and I don’t have family in the area. Edit 3: I have to put the baby to sleep, and go to sleep for work myself. I will answer more comments in the morning, and will probably have another update post tomorrow as these comments have really forced my eyes open about what’s really going on here. Thank you for the tough love. Edit 4: Wife has called and made an appointment to be seen for PPD again. Tomorrow at 1230. So for everyone telling me I need to do it because she can’t, or depression doesn’t work like that, she did it. Edit 5: commenting Update me isn’t going to do anything, as unfortunately you can only post one update here. If/when the next update comes, it will be in Reddit updates. I’ll update this post with a link, otherwise you’ll just have to track it down. I may unlock my post history to show this and that sub so it’s more easily accessible for those trying to follow the events. This is probably the last edit on this post other than that, so I’d like to thank everyone again for the comments. Some people are really giving me a hard time, and while I don’t agree with something’s being said, I need to hear it to keep myself from getting deterred Editor's note: OOP made lots of comments, I am sharing some common questions and responses Some Relevant Comments Commenter 1: Is your baby eating too fast because she doesn't feed him OFTEN enough? Babies don’t have three meals a day. Their stomachs are small and they need to eat and drink more often. She may have inherited some of her mom's mental illness or issues if she isn't doing the basics of feeding and can’t handle executive functioning OOP: I’m not sure why the baby does it, because it happens with me, and trust me the baby EATS with me lol. Commenter 1: What struck me is that he missed lunch and it was dinnertime. Does she have a regular schedule? OOP: She ate a package of Oreos yesterday. I just didn’t want to put that in the post because I felt like it was kind of dragging her a little. Commenter 2: Wow!! She FORGOT to feed him lunch? Obviously she is not capable of taking care of yourself child. You need to document everything, because I don't see this ending neatly. And if you separate she will probably go live with her mom, and your baby. OOP: I won’t allow that to happen. I’ll sue, and win, for custody. I have more than enough evidence to show she’s not a clean enough person, but also financially I’m the one who makes things happen. Her lack of general life skills also would not bode well for her in those arguments. OOP on if his wife has a mental illness of some kind OOP: If so it’s undiagnosed, and has been missed by her therapist twice. Not saying she doesn’t, but that’s where we’re at with that. She did have a PPD diagnosis, but was cleared over three months ago by her doctor and therapist. + The doctor, therapist, and herself had conversations, and they told her she could stop taking her meds. She was restricted by being told the baby (13 months) can’t go to her mom’s house. Saying this is on me is some weird victim blaming nonsense. I should be able to trust the mother of my child, with her own baby. This was the first thing that’s come to my attention to REALLY say I couldn’t, and I immediately started taking action. Commenter 3: What's best for your kid? Is this the best caregiver for him? Can you do better on your own? I mean, I think you can. It sucks to be a single parent... But what's best for your kid? Is this the level of care he deserves? I don't believe you think so or you wouldn't have gotten pissed about it. Maybe you think you can't do better on your own, but I don't believe that. OOP: I can’t do it on my own. Financially, mentally, any of it. I have my own problems, that makes dealing with all of this so much harder. I just came out the other way from my neglect/abuse as a child, and I’m hyper sensitive to the care of children. I’ll let myself either before my baby wants for anything. I know what you’re getting at though, and I’m laying the ground work for the potential that it is necessary Commenter 4: She's a STHM yet you do all the cleaning cooking while working being a stay at home parent is HARD you don't get days off or sick days 24/7 however it should at the very least be a 50/50 slit on chores she's not even taking care of baby forgetting to feed him isn't something you do they let you know they are hungry for your child sake and yours something needs to change OOP: She works also. She was STAHM for 10 months though and it was the same. Commenter 5: I think you've got bigger fish to fry here, OP. You clearly need someone from outside to take care of the house and the baby while your wife gets whatever kind of treatment she needs. It is NOT safe for her to be the one taking care of the baby when she's obviously neglecting the child. You need a Nanny or a responsible, helpful family member that obviously doesn't come from her side of the family who is capable of actually doing something while you work. And, frankly, if this doesn't work out you need to be documenting all of this so you can get emergency custody. She's not a fit mother if she can take care of herself, but can't be bothered to take care of her kid. OOP: Ooh if that were an option. I appreciate the advice, and definitely understand where you’re coming from. Just financially, we can’t do that. We live just above the poverty line. OOP on finding the childcare if daycare isn't an option OOP: If I’m being honest, the move would probably be to my mothers, and I would not work until I could find a job that opposed hers, to make sure there was always someone. I cannot do daycare, I was abused in daycare, and I won’t run the risk that happens to my child. Commenter 6: Sadly I think you married the same person as your MIL. Your wife doesn't cook, she doesn't clean and even neglects your baby. The only difference between your home and your MIL's is you. You do all the cleaning and home chores. If not for you your house would look exactly the same as MIL's house. Think about it. You're basically a single father with a roommate. OOP: I’m seeing it. I’m hoping getting back on meds will help. Probably not, but it’s the last thing I can do before we have to separate. I’m not letting things slide anymore though. She’s either going to contribute, or we’re not going to be together. Commenter 7: Focus on your child. Stop worrying about your wife. She FORGOT to feed the baby???? She FORGOT to clean the baby??? When is she going to FORGET the baby in the car???? Your child is NOT SAFE in your wife's custody. She is intentionally harming that child. Send her to live with her mommy or grab your child and move elsewhere. You need to protect your child. Do it before CPS has to come in and take the child away from you and give your son to someone who will actually pay attention, notice him and care for him. OOP: I’ve spoken with a lawyer that told me very directly not to do anything in terms of leaving yet. It’s likely we’d end up with 50/50 custody. But what I have started doing is enough g for him to fight for my case if it came to the worst case scenario. It won’t, but should it, I’m protecting myself. Editor's note: below is the latest post that is tangentially to the original and update for more context AITAH for “freaking out” on a doctor for how they downplayed mold exposure: May 14, 2026 (three days later) So I’m sure some of you will remember the original post (https://www.reddit.com/r/AITAH/s/BMzlCcuS6i). TLDR, I told my wife our baby couldn’t go to her mom’s anymore because she has a kitchen cabinet completely full of mold. Well I made a doctor’s appointment for the baby, because they’ve been sick for 9 days now, and I just found out about the mold. I wanted to be sure that the baby was okay, as well as have explained to my wife why this was not okay. However during this appointment, I feel like the doctor SERIOUSLY downplayed the detrimental effects that black mold can have on an infant. Firstly, she said “if he goes to your moms, just make sure it’s sealed off good.” I immediately gave her pushback on that, and without losing my temper I said, “can you explain how to set up a proper seal.” She stammered and eventually agreed that it couldn’t be done under normal reasonable means, and would need to be taken care of before the baby returned. Then I asked about the negative effects, and this is where I was truly blown away. She said, this is a very literal direct quote “the most common thing we see is some old scarring on the lungs, and childhood asthma. It’s not that big of a lifelong concern.” While this is not completely false because she added the qualifier of “the most common thing”, but that is not the way to present this in my opinion. I admittedly lost my temper a little here. I said something to the effect of “can you quit bullshitting us and tell us the truth. I know about those, I want you to specifically talk about the worst of it. If I need to get a different doctor in here I will.” She started talking about chronic asthma, and reduced lung capacity finally. I pressed again and said, “what about cognitive impairment? What about reduced immune capacity. What about the litany of other problems it can cause.” She snapped back with something along the lines of “well if you’re so well informed why do you need me to tell you.” And I came back with, “it’s for my wife not for me.” My wife had been silent through all of this, and the doctor looked at her and said, “do you understand what you came here to understand?” She nodded, and the doctor left. It made me feel very invisible as a parent, but I can also understand that we had verbally sparred a little bit right there. Later, my wife told me that I “freaked out” and “was being a fucking dick to that doctor”. While I understand that I did get a temper (I raised my voice but wasn’t yelling, more in that way you do when you’re talking to someone who BARELY understands your language, or am I the only one who does that?) and I definitely had my angry tone on. I said, “I needed her to say the truth, not placate us”. So AITAH? I just feel like I’m trying to protect my kid, but I suppose I can see where the doctor shouldn’t be my adversary. Edit: for anyone that sees and cares. Thank you for the perspective. I think I needed it after the last posts have been so adamant in the other direction. The internet is a crazy place, and it will definitely color your perspective based on what you go looking for. I’m not saying I’m letting my baby go to MILs house before the mold is taken care of, but I definitely understand that I am very much probably too scared about it, and that may be because of my own respiratory issues, and sickness I’ve gotten from mold. I’m going to call the office and apologize to the doctor, and try and explain why I was so quick to get a temper. I don’t want it to become a problem for the baby because the care at that office is the best in the area. I’m going to take the time to find an allergist that specifically has the knowledge of mold to be able to tell us what the real concerns are here, and I’ll operate on their recommendations. AITAH has no consensus bot, OOP received mixed reactions, splitting between NTAs and YTAs Editor's note: in this post, OOP's responses were downvoted Comments Commenter 1: Did you even have this mold tested ? Just because the mold is black, doesn't mean it’s the Black Mold. YTA. You are not smarter than the doctor. OOP: I did not have it tested as I don’t care what kind of mold it is, my baby is not going to be exposed to it. Based off what I can deduce, it is black mold. I’m willing to admit I was wrong when they do eventually take care of it, but it’s immaterial to me what type of mold it is, that’s an absolute no for my child. Commenter 2: You are definitely the AH. You need to be invisible as a parent. You were not there to be educated, to provide your wife with information, or out of concern for your child. You were there to grand stand and shame your wife into not letting her mother see the child. A big part of being a medical professional is to tell people the truth about medical issues without causing hysteria or calming people down who are already hysterical when they come into the office, this was you. The problem with everyone going to the internet for medical knowledge is that they don’t understand how to differential diagnosis among all the things they read. You are in this category. You understood some of the words, but you have no idea the odds apply the things you were worried about. You don’t understand how the amount of exposure both in time and the amount of mold actually factors in. You read a bunch of words that sound scary, but that’s all it really was to you, so you went through the door with an agenda (likely because your wife was not as on board with her mother not getting to see the child as much as you were) and were not going to listen to what the doctor had to say unless it aligned perfectly with your highly educated opinion. You will be lucky if the doc doesn’t discharge you, and she rightfully should. OOP: The point of this is not to not let her see her mother. The baby will not go to her mother’s house until it’s fixed and that’s final, but her mother lives 15 minutes away, and has been at our house every day since I told my wife the baby couldn’t go there. Their relationship is going to be perfectly fine. The point was to educate my wife. I am willing to admit I was an asshole for losing my temper, but my wife’s careless attitude about filth is not new, and needs to be addressed and dealt with. This, minus freaking out, was the most common suggestion I got from my last posts about this. Read up on those if you haven’t, because it’s not as simple as I think you think it is. I did have an agenda, but so does everyone when they go into a doctor’s office. Mine just so happened to have been founded on half information, not bad information, just not enough research done into it. I also want to make this clear. We’re talking about A LOT of mold, that’s been there for at the bare minimum 2 years now, absolute bare minimum, and the baby is exposed 3 ish times a week for 12+ hours at a time. So yeah, no matter amount or time, I’m pretty sure we’d be in the threshold on that regard. I was an asshole for losing my temper, I see that. Commenter 3: I’m a doctor. Your concerns are unfounded and based on fear, not a real understanding of medicine. “Cognitive impairment and reduced immune capacity”? Spare me. What’s next, vaccines cause autism? Chronic Lyme is real? You went to the doctor hoping to use them as a club to bludgeon your wife with. When they refused to back up your neurotic bullshit, you became aggressive. You’re an asshole. Do better. OOP: I’d like you to look at the studies I did and tell me to “spare you” after reading those, and seeing this cabinet. We’re not talking about a few spots of mold, we’re talking about more than 10 square feet completely covered, most likely saturated into the floor and wall as well. https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1002/dneu.23000 https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3758954/ https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5377931/ I’m not trying to excuse the way I acted, that’s why I was honest I lost my temper, but I don’t think you’re fairly repenting the dangers of black mold exposure. Commenter 4: Doctor here, firstly sorry that you felt unheard, that's something we never want to see. Black mold is tricky to assess when it comes to health. We get very little training on the topic, and seeing patients actually infected with fungus in the lungs is thankfully super rare. As with many things it's on a spectrum, sleeping in a bedroom that has black mold on the walls and floorboards is obviously a no no, but visiting a house with mold in a kitchen cupboard that the child can be kept away from is not the same and far less worrying. Our immune system, and even that of a child, is constantly keeping pathogens out, viruses, bacteria and also fungi. So it would be very unlikely that your specific situation would cause long term health effects unless the child was exposed to the mold directly for longer periods of time. All that being said, doctors knowledge and confidence on these topics will vary a lot (as opposed to knowledge on more common conditions and those taught over and over again) so there may be a lot of difference in opinion that you'll come across. As for the AITAH question, hard to say but sounds like maybe a soft yta for raising your voice at someone who's just there to help, but I get the frustration aspect of it too OOP: I am absolutely open to the idea that I was an asshole for losing my temper. As for the situation. The kitchen is the house. It’s an 850 sq house, and it’s basically two rooms. The kitchen/dining room/living room first floor, and the bedroom lower floor, so there’s really no way to keep the baby away, and they are (or had been) there A LOT. OOP on if he has contacted someone to take looks at that mold? OOP: I’m not going to do anything for that house. It’s not my responsibility, they’ve know about it for years, I barely have enough to keep my family above water. Like I’m jump starting my car every time I need to start it because I can either pay rent or buy a car battery. There are there incomes in that home, they can afford to do it, they’ve chosen not to. First time DIY oil change 😳 baby steps
EDIT: thanks for all the tips! I think you guys have pointed me in the right direction. I appreciate it!! First time DIY oil changer here. I’m a little bit nervous about it but I figure for the price of two oil changes I can buy the supplies I need to DIY this from now on. The two cars are a Mazda cx30 (2024) and a Subaru Outback (2024). I’m hoping for feedback about my tentative plan before I order some supplies on Amazon (see pics). My plan so far: -Run car for a couple minutes -ramps, flat ground, parking brake, chock back wheels -Cardboard under drain pan under car -Gloves, glasses, paper towels, garbage bags, screwdrivers, wrenches within reach -Find oil pan cover and remove -Place oil pan (hold near drain plug?) gingerly remove drain plug with hand above expected path of flow -Try not to drop the drain plug, let drain -Plastic bag around old oil filter when I remove, remove old gasket -Prep new filter half way with new oil, place new filter gasket with a little oil, don’t over tighten -Replace drain plug and gasket -Reverse off ramps here, I’m assuming -Fill tank with new oil (can I just dump the whole big bottle or no?) using funnel -Run the engine for a bit, check level -Pour oil from catch pan into empty bottle, to be given to auto shop -Clean up Have I got that right? I have Valvoline 0W-20 in my Amazon cart for both cars…but can I just use Costco OW-20? Also, are my filter choices good or overkill? I just want a good filter with no surprises when I go to install it. These cars are leased, if that matters. Alternate recommendations welcome, specific links greatly appreciated. The filter I chose for the Mazda doesn’t come with a gasket…how do I know what size to get? Do the drain plugs need new gaskets each time too? Exactly what hand tools do I need to have within reach (aside from the oil filter wrench in my cart). Thank you for your help! submitted by /u/Silver_Department_38 to r/MechanicAdvice [link] [comments]

New Covid variant has been identified and is already spreading in 25 states
This story is pretty straight forward. There is a new strain of COVID-19, called BA.3.2. Unfortunately it has mutated enough from it's parent strains that the 2025/2026 vaccines are not effective enough to prevent symptoms, although they may reduce the severity of the illness. The strain does not seem to be deadlier, or include any new symptoms. It causes a standard presentation of COVID-19 that includes coughing, body pains, fever, etc. However, because neither vaccines nor previous exposure are protective against this strain it is important to protect yourself. If you have comorbidities such as Asthma, COPD, Obesity, Heart Disease, any immune disease, including both hypoimmune, hyperimmune, and autoimmune disease, or are a smoker, you are at greatly increased risk of developing SARS. SARS (Severe Accute Respiratory Syndrome) is a deadly viral syndrome that causes shortness of breath, and extreme coughing. This can result in hypoxia, or lack of oxygen. If treatment for SARS is delayed or ineffective, it can be fatal, or become ARDS, Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome. ARDS can cause bleeding in the lungs, fluid in the lungs, hypoxia, and apoxia (no oxygen at all), and is fatal in the majority of patients diagnosed with it. SARS or ARDS requires hospitalization. If you experience shortness of breath, violent cough, or a fever with coughing, go to the Emergency Room. In the meantime protect yourselves as usual. Be dilligent with your hygiene and hand washing, take your vitamins, get outside, get exercise, hydrate, wear a mask if you are sick or are concerned you'll be exposed to sick people, and toss a bottle of hand sanitizer into your purse or glove box if you haven't already. Be safe out there everyone. submitted by /u/No_Minute_4789 to r/PrepperIntel [link] [comments]

HELP! - my mother uses sugar soap to clean all my waterbottles
reposted to include photos I use waterbottles daily and my mum recently discovered sugar soap and thought it was a type of washing up liquid and used it to wash my plastic water bottles and other food related items. What’s in my bag- protest edition
i just got back from a quick protest/ rally in the DC area. I LOVE bags and figured this might be interesting. Also thanks for all the suggestions to take a belt bag! This is for the more benign protests that are rallies. As things amp up, I will be modifying what I take to protests for more protection/ enacting emergency plans if I’m detained. I did not take my phone, which meant I had to learn the hard way in not knowing where I’m going or what time it is. The two most important things to do before you go to a protest with a minimal bag set up is to (1) make a shareable note in your phone that you share with emergency contacts with all your information, a plan for how to take care of your kids, pets, plants, etc if you’re detained, and when you will be back and check in, and (2) write phone numbers on your arms and body. Bag: Evergoods Mountain Hip Pack 3.5L. Their smaller sling would also work really well. I highly recommend their slings. The shape fits a woman’s body well and I use it as a sling. Refer to my other post for other great bag suggestions. Contents: Gloves, notebook and pen, sharpie, paper with a map of where to go, metro card, wallet with id, pad and kleenex, water bottle, banana, watch (might replace with an Apple Watch or garmin forerunner soon), meds/ emergency kit, EpiPen, inhaler, mints, aquaphor, whistles, hand sanitizer, mask (face covering is a must), keys, sunglasses, and nerdy goggles in case of tear gas or projectiles. edit: holy moly! Y'all are so badass and supportive! Love this community! May we all stand tall with fists in the air and beautiful bags on our shoulders! edit: I plan to get a body cam and an actual camera (while respecting ppl’s privacy and no face shots) last edit: wow, so I was just sharing bag items with fellow nerds and I have gotten so many amazing suggestions and tips. I’m over here looking at really funny hunting camo and masks. But honestly I definitely will step up my protection and figure out this tech/ watch situation. This is just the start! Thanks for the awards and engagement. We are all in this together. Stay safe and in solidarity! submitted by /u/QueenJalebiSparkle to r/handbags [link] [comments]

Gloves in a Bottle?
Hey has anyone with hand eczema (especially dyshidrotic), use either the standard or botanical versions of Gloves in a Bottle? Thoughts? My hands are pretty screwed, but I'm hoping to find something to help repair my skin's protective barrier and I've been striking out so far. This one seems semi promising? submitted by /u/kudomonster to r/eczema [link] [comments]

Former Army Ranger/Sniper & Long Distance thru-hiker here. Your bugout loadouts are unhinged.
Loadout: 50+ mile Sniper Adventure Challenge Race Kit (you don’t need this for bugging out!) Hey guys. I don’t thinks that having a military background makes somebody immediately qualified to give advice about prepping or moving over land. I actually think that a lot of Veterans overpack and are focus focused on the wrong thing for prepping or “bugging out”. We were trained to have logistics, supply, and fight. If you go into one of these situations with that mindset, you will be carrying way too much stuff. Following my time in the Ranger Regiment and as a conventional sniper, I started knocking out multi hundred mile treks around the United States. Dude, I ate so much humble pie from carrying too much weight and not understanding what it means to truly self support. In the military, you assume, “one is none and two is one”, meaning: you need to have redundancy in your gear. My pack for hiking the 800 mile Arizona Trail weighed about 22 pounds, 30 pounds when I had to walk 20 miles plus with no water points. I had a full kit: Bivy sleeping bag, water, filtration, and food for about five days. I covered +/- 30 miles a day for 40 days from the Mexican border to Utah. I experienced heat exhaustion and some gnarly foot injuries that I had to take care of out in the field. All this to say: you guys are carrying way too much stuff if you plan on walking 20 miles with no/little training. First: safest course of action for a lot of things is to stay in place. Here is a simple loadout for getting home if it’s 20 miles away: One Nalgene Bottle (everything in this kit goes inside the bottle when stored) -space blanket -Swiss Army knife -Cell phone charger pack -Ultra light rain jacket -Electrolytes -Antidiarrheal/ibuprofen (as long as you keep the water inside you you can probably make it home) -Sunscreen -Chapstick -2,000 calories -cheap sunglasses -headlamp -TP -aquamira tablets (chloranamine) -Collapsible pack (mystery ranch has a 19L) -compass (maybe) -if it’s winter time, obviously this list changes, you can fit one of those REI brand puffy jackets into pretty small spaces. Costco and farm supply stores have great gloves for $6 a set. That’s all you need to get home and walk 20 miles. Water is the most important thing. Water over a gun. Most people who serve in combat don’t actually shoot their weapon, every single one of them drinks water and goes to the bathroom. I’m all for prepping and being prepared - I know that I’m just some guy on the Internet but I have a lot of experience walking in and out of austere environments. On the tier list of things that you need, a firearm is pretty low - but probably still an essential item, if you know how to use it. If you’re looking for good shoes, I really like Hoka and Altras and for boots La Sportiva. You do not need three pocket knives and a Glock 19 with six mags and a plate carrier to get home when you live in rural Virginia or wherever. If you can carry in your state, cool, then put a Glock +2 mags in a fanny pack. Hot take: Your cell phone has a compass that will work even without service, it also has a flashlight, those little battery banks are pretty valuable and while I do like analog - if you’re truly reducing weight, then use the device that you use every single day that works without fail for hundreds of days in a row. Your cell phone is durable, it’s probably the item that you use the most and drop and it gets wet and it still works every single day. I wouldn’t take my personal cell phone into a war, but we’re just talking about getting home. submitted by /u/FTWkansas to r/prepping [link] [comments]

[New Update]: AITAH for asking my wife to choose our family over hers?
I am NOT OOP. OOP is u/ThrowRANoRespectWife Originally posted to r/AITAH Previous BoRUs: #1 [New Update]: AITAH for asking my wife to choose our family over hers? NEW UPDATE MARKED WITH ---- Editor’s note: removed the older relevant comments for space in this latest continuing BoRU Trigger Warnings: emotional abuse and manipulation, job loss, mentions of abuse, body injury, seizures, fears of infidelity, mentions infidelity AITAH for asking my wife to choose our family over hers?: August 29, 2025 AITAH for asking my wife to choose our family over hers? I posted on here a bit ago about a situation when I sort of forced my way into a zoo trip my wife had planned with the kids, my parents, and my in-laws (see my previous post.)A lot of people thought I was the AH for doing that, even though that wasn’t the point of the post. But now, I’ve found myself in a similar situation and tried doing the opposite and it doesn’t seem to be working out any better. So, my wife has already told me that I am the AH in this situation, even if she didn’t use those exact words. And I know nothing Reddit has to say about it would change her mind (especially since I won’t/can’t tell her that I’m even posting about it) but I’m starting to question my own judgement a bit here, so maybe you all can set me straight. My wife and I are in the middle of a really rough patch in our marriage. We separated for six months and even when we ended the separation, the issues that caused it weren’t fixed. Long story short: I lost my job when she was pregnant, she asked me to move out, when I moved back in I was sleeping in the basement for quite a while, she’s refused any sort of physical contact, and we’ve just started marriage counseling (second session was last night.) And in MC, I’ve come to learn that her family more or less hates me. Or, at the very least, doesn’t trust me. Like not at all. During our MC session last night, our therapist said that it was important for us to start spending more time together, both as a family (two kids) and as a couple. My wife was resistant to the idea of ‘date nights’ so the counselor reframed it as ‘exposure therapy’. Basically, she said that neither of us will ever get past the barriers that have built up in our relationship if we continue to essentially live separate lives. My wife seemed to understand that and was fairly receptive to the idea, at least while we were in the counselor’s office. Which brings us to this weekend. In America, it’s a holiday weekend and our family has a long-standing tradition of spending the three-day weekend at my in-law’s camp on a lake. My SIL and her family come and most of my wife’s extended family pops in at least for an afternoon/evening or two, even if they don’t spend the night. Some of her and my SIL’s friends from high school usually drop by for a catch up, too and I know my wife has been trying to reconnect with friends in an effort to find an identity outside of just being a mom and a wife. But, given our current marital strife, the knowledge that my MIL has actively and repeatedly tried to convince my wife that we should not be together (which I’ve known about for barely a week), my new and growing worry that my mistakes are now a black cloud hanging over my relationships with all of my wife’s family and friends, and that due to space constraints, we’d not only have to share a room but also a bed, it seemed to me like heading to camp should be a no-go. My wife didn’t agree. In fact, fifteen minutes after we got home from our MC session last night, she started packing up for the weekend. But she was only packing for her and the kids. She didn’t come right out and say it, but it was pretty obvious (even to usually oblivious me) that the plan was for my family to go to the lake without me even though we’d just been told a little more than an hour before that we needed to spend time together. I tried pointing that out in as calm and as non-confrontational a way as I could, using the ‘I feel’ statements that our therapist suggested. I said to my wife: “I feel like this weekend is a really good opportunity for us to spend time together as a family and I really feel like if three-fourths of us go to camp, that isn’t just living separate lives but making a point of living separate lives.” At first, she thought I was trying to be included in the trip and go with her and the kids, much like I forced my way into the zoo trip. I quickly explained that no, that was one hundred percent not what I wanted (without even mentioning that being around my MIL for an entire weekend would have required my entire bottle of Xanax) and what I was hoping for was that she and the kids could stay home with me. There’s a whole bunch of picnic and BBQ and block party events going on in and around our neighborhood and I thought we could go to some of those and spend time as a family. In my head, starting off by doing something as a whole family instead of just as a couple would build in a buffer for her, would give me a chance to show that I can be a real partner in parenting, and would let her see me in what I know is my best light: as a dad. That was what I thought in my head but, apparently, my head and my wife’s head were not on the same page as she said no to that idea by saying: “I want to spend the weekend with my family.” One thing our therapist stressed repeatedly was that to have any chance at productive conversations, we both need to avoid any kind of escalation in our communication, which was probably because things escalated more than once during our latest session. So, I took a deep breath and did not point out that spending the weekend with me and the kids would be spending it with her family. And despite what many many many Redditors have said I should do, I didn’t lay out any ultimatums or ask her to cut back on contact with her family or suggest that she was planning some kind of lakeside hookup with some guy my MIL might better approve of. But this is when I might have been the AH (or definitely was, according to my wife). I tried sticking to the ‘I feel’ idea and told her that I felt like if she took the kids and went to camp without me, especially if she went less than a day after our counselor said we needed more time together, that she was making a choice and that choice was clearly not us. So, in her mind, for all intents and purposes: I gave her an ultimatum. Do you think she took that well and we were able to have a calm and productive and healthy conversation about it and maybe even come to some sort of compromise? Do you think I’d be posting this at almost midnight on the Friday of a holiday weekend because my blood pressure is through the roof and I can’t sleep if she did? She told me, in no uncertain terms, that I was an AH for laying that all on her, reminded me that it was my choices that got us here in the first place, stopped packing, and after making sure both kids were asleep, she went into our bedroom (which has been only her bedroom for the last year), shut the door and locked it. And now I have no idea if I’m going to wake up to my wife and kids waiting to hang out with me and spend the next three days together or if they’ll be on the road to camp before the sun is even up. I do know that she thinks I am absolutely the AH. And I kinda think she might be right. AITAH for telling my wife she was choosing her family over her family with me and the kids? AITAH has no consensus bot, OOP was NTA Update #1: September 5, 2025 (one week later) Update: AITAH for asking my wife to choose our family over hers? I got a comment yesterday wondering if my silence was a positive or negative sign (it was a sign of a crazy week at work) so I thought I should take the chance to post an update today since I have a bit of time. You can see the specific incident I’m updating in my previous post and there’s a bunch of posts on my history from the sub I originally started posting on, if you want more background/context or reasons to question whether I have a spine. I mentioned in a comment reply to my last post that my wife actually woke me up early the morning after I had basically given her an ultimatum to choose between our family and her family. She wanted to talk before she and the kids left for my in-law’s camp. TBH, I was expecting it to be the ‘I’m not coming back’ or ‘we should get lawyers’ talk, but it wasn’t. To my surprise, my wife (I called her ‘Carrie’ on the other sub, so I will do so here, too) actually apologized. She said the comment about wanting to spend the weekend with “her family” had been out of line and intended to hurt me. She was pissed, annoyed at me because she knew I was kinda right about what I was saying, and she lashed out. It’s not the first time that’s happened so her explanation didn’t shock me that much. But she also said that she understood where I was coming from. If we want to fix things - and we’ve both said we do - then lashing out like that needs to stop and we do need to spend time together as a family. And she completely got why choosing to spend the entire weekend with her family, whose dislike for me had just become public knowledge, instead of being with me might have been upsetting for me. For a moment, I thought she was going to invite me to camp with her and I’m not gonna lie, I was panicking. I was worried that right after I’d more or less demanded she spend time with me, I was going to have to refuse an invitation to do exactly that. But there was no chance I was going to willingly spend three days with my MIL or SIL, particularly not after our last counseling session. Carrie didn’t invite me. Instead, she offered a compromise: she and the kids would go to camp Saturday and stay until midday Sunday, then come home and spend the rest of the weekend with me. There were some family members of hers who live out in California who would be there on Saturday and she doesn’t get to see them very often, so… That actually felt really fair to me and like Carrie was putting in an honest effort to try and meet me halfway, so I agreed. They left for camp that morning and came back on Sunday, as planned, and we had a really nice day and a half together. There was a block party kind of thing on Monday and we took the kids to that and I made sure to handle baby duty with our daughter as much as possible, to give Carrie a break. She seemed pretty appreciative of that and got to spend some time with a few of our neighbors that she’s struck up friendships with and introduced me to some of them who I hadn’t met yet. It was… nice. It felt normal, I guess. But as the day wore on and it got to be time to head back home, I started getting anxious. The kids were wiped and would clearly be heading straight to bed, which would leave me and Carrie alone for more than the hour or so we’d had on Sunday night. If we followed the counselor’s advice, we should spend that time together. I was under no illusion that spending time was going to result in any sort of spousal relations or anything like that, but there would have to be talking and I was concerned about what topic of conversation wouldn’t lead us to some sort of trouble. And it felt like maybe I was right when the first thing Carrie said was that she wanted to talk about the possibility of her having those “girls’ nights” with her mom and sister. We’d essentially punted on that topic during our last counseling session. Other things had come up that had escalated tensions and the therapist said we probably weren’t in the best place to make a good decision about any of it at that moment. But since she’d spent a day and a half with my MIL and SIL, I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised it came back up. I was surprised that she offered another compromise: she didn’t have to cut her work hours down to part-time, she’d just have to adjust hours on other days so she could leave early on the girls’ nights days and come in late the following day. Apparently, she’d already cleared that with work and could start doing it whenever she wanted, even as soon as this week. She hadn’t been at work since our last session so it was obvious that she’d gotten all this “clearance” before we had even talked about it with the therapist. On the one hand, I could see how it was a compromise and seemed pretty fair, which was good. On the other hand, I felt sort of misled (not sure that’s the right word.) Like she had made the compromise about the weekend to soften me up for the possibility of agreeing to girls’ nights. I’ll say that that might be me being paranoid or overly suspicious and that’s probably a direct result of how many “she’s planning to cheat or already is” comments I’ve gotten here. But just because you’re paranoid, that doesn’t mean they’re not out to get you, right? I did my best to ignore the paranoia but also get to what was starting to worry me. I asked her flat out why having a weekly girls’ night with her mom and sister (something she’d never done before) was so important to her now, especially since both MIL and SIL are very actively against our marriage. I said I didn’t want to cut her off from them or prevent her from having some fun and an escape, but the idea of her spending an entire night out drinking and in situations where there’s a pretty high likelihood of venting/complaining about relationships with two people who might be inclined to encourage her worst instincts when it came to our relationship made me really anxious. I didn’t suggest that she might be using it as an opportunity to cheat; I didn’t even let on that the thought that she might find someone else had crossed my mind (or the minds of a lot of anonymous Redditors.) I stayed as far away from any of that as possible and tried to keep the conversation focused on my worries about her spending that much time with my MIL and SIL. Carrie said she understood. She said that was a reasonable concern, especially given all that she’d shared in our sessions about her mom’s feelings toward me. And she said that, normally, she’d probably give in and stay home and spend that time with me and the kids. But, she said: “My sister needs me, right now. Her husband left her.” Apparently, BIL left SIL the day after the family’s annual 4th of July party (my in-laws have way too many holiday get togethers) and my SIL is not taking it well. And when SIL doesn’t take something well, my MIL takes it worse and since BIL was the golden boy, the perfect son-in-law, the one I was always unfavorably compared to, there’s a lot of upset and anger and sadness and Carrie feels like she needs to spend time with her family to support her sister. She wants to help SIL navigate suddenly being a single parent and help her figure out if she can find a way to reconcile with BIL, and basically act like SIL’s conscience and keep her from making any bad choices while there’s still the possibility of saving her marriage. Bad choices like hooking up with some random dude at a bar during one of their girls’ nights. Which, as I found out last night in counseling, is exactly the reason BIL left her. She cheated on him. So, my wife is asking me to be OK with her spending nights out with her mother (who hates me) and her sister (who’s a cheater and hates me) and not feel any kind of way about all that. And even if I do, it doesn’t really matter as SIL needs her and Carrie’s already made it “all good” with work and in doing that she was “compromising” on what she really wanted and had asked for and that’s a good thing and a sign of progress for our own reconciliation and both Carrie and our therapist think if I can just see it in those terms, I’ll realize that there’s nothing to be worried or upset about. Which is how I got here. Writing an update to Reddit while my daughter is napping in her crib next to me and my wife is on her way to her mother’s house for girls’ night which got moved to Friday night thanks to the holiday, so she doesn’t even have to worry about work tomorrow. And I am just fine with that. Really. I’m totally, one hundred percent fine with it. I even told Carrie that on her way out the door. Go ahead, Reddit. Tell me I’m an idiot. An idiot trying to cling to any small steps in the right direction for his family, but still an idiot. I may update later on the other sub about the last two MC sessions because they were both a lot but this post was already a freaking novel. And I’m still processing everything I’ve heard from Carrie and the therapist. I’m slow when it comes to stuff like that. Let me know if anyone cares to hear about it, after you get done yelling at me in the comments. tl;dr: Wife and I compromised over holiday weekend plans. We spent time together as a family and it was good. She still wants girls' nights because her sister's husband just left her after she cheated on him during a night out. Update #2: September 11, 2025 (six days later) Update 2: AITAH for asking my wife to choose between her family and ours Previous posts in my history. Can't get linking to work on mobile. Not the update I had planned for. I thought I was going to post about the revelations in marriage counseling and more about my own therapy session. And instead, I'm writing this while sitting in an uncomfortable pleather chair in the family lounge of our local children's hospital, where I've been for about the last twenty-four hours. Long story short - my son fell down the stairs in our house. At minimum, he broke his arm. I say at minimum because they've been evaluating him for head trauma and there are questions as to what caused the fall. We have very specific rules for the stairs with him. No socks or footie pj's. Always hold the railing. Go very slowly. And if mom or dad are there and not holding his sister, hold one of their hands. He was good on the first three. We even installed a second railing below the first one, at a more age appropriate height. He had a grip on it. But I was the only one home and was carrying his sister down the stairs, so he didn't take my hand. I don't know what happened, exactly. I've described it like twenty times to the doctors and to my wife. But it's still not entirely clear. He was down three steps and his foot was out to go down one more and then he just stopped. And then dropped. It was about six more steps to the bottom and I chased but couldn't get there and I think it was when he hit the landing that his arm broke. But he didn't even cry out. I called 9-1-1 and then my wife but had to leave her a voicemail and how the fuck do you leave that message without sounding like it's the end of the damn world? I don't even remember what I said. But then the ambulance was there and off we went to the hospital and here we've been since. My wife met us there a couple hours later which was after they'd given my son some children's painkillers and something to calm him down a bit (they told/explained them all to me but I don't remember fuck all except him crying) so at least she didn't have to see the worst of it. My in-laws and parents have both come by and my daughter is with my parents now. There was no drama like at the zoo as apparently we're all able to be adults when the kid is hurting. And no, before someone asks: my wife wasn't at girls’ night. She had a massive work event for all the offices in our region that was being held two hours away. She got back as quickly as she could. No one, including my wife or her mom or the doctors, has blamed me for what happened. The guilt is eating me alive, though. I should have been quicker. I should have been in front of him and not behind him. Hell, the only reason I'm even writing this is because my wife is in with him and she told me to take a break because she saw how bad it was getting for me. Like it or not, she still knows me pretty well. And I guess I just needed to see it in writing, on the screen, to see if it might make any more sense. It doesn't. I expect we're going to be here a while longer. I haven't slept since Wednesday night. I might crash in this awful chair and try to shut off my brain. Or I might respond to the msgs in my inbox that I haven't gotten to. With my family not here and Ellie off on her final family camping trip of the season, y'all are about the only people I've got to talk to when I take a mental health break. I'll update when I can. Hopefully, it will be less busted arms and head trauma and more SIL cheated and it's all BIL's fault. tl;dr: son fell down the stairs. Broken arm and maybe head trauma. Family all came to the hospital. No drama ensued. I'm feeling guilty as hell. EDIT: We're being released today. He's in good spirits and excited to have everyone sign his cast. And he's already bonked me in the head with it twice. Thank you everyone for all the supportive msgs! ----NEW UPDATE---- Update #3: September 23, 2025 (12 days later) Update 3: AITAH for asking my wife to choose between her family and ours I don't know how much of an update this really is, but I got a few messages asking about things and after two hours of IC last night, I need a place to put some thoughts, so here you go... It's been confirmed that the CPS report was not made by the hospital. And it was specifically about me and my neglect/mistreatment of my son. The fall down the stairs was cited as an example. Given that the only people who knew about it at the time of the report were me, my wife, her family, and my parents (and all the anonymous Redditors who read my post), it's kind of clear that the call was made by family. No, I don't know who for sure. My wife and I are still discussing how we want to go about confronting both my MIL/SIL and my parents. As angry as I am about it, I also understand that accusing an innocent party of something like that could make an awful situation even worse. We're going to talk to our therapist about it. So, no definitive answer but I do have a gut feeling that I've kept to myself so far. I have consulted a lawyer and have a couple more meetings scheduled. Just checking all my options and learning about what I need to do no matter what I ultimately decide. I am intensive individual counseling with the therapist I worked with for a year after I lost my job. Like I said, two hours just last night. My therapist considers me to be 'in crisis' so she's been making extra accommodations for me. We're digging in hard on how I handle things, why I don't seem to value myself, and my expectations for relationships. I know some comments on my other posts have suggested that I've left things out or not said everything. My therapist agrees; last night we came to the conclusion (as in she guided me into figuring out what she already knew) that I hold back some things because I have minimized them in my head or think that they will make me seem like I'm looking for sympathy. And that isn't just in my posts. There are things I've never told my wife, either. My therapist wants me to work on being more forthcoming and honest with myself. So, I will probably be making posts like that on my profile, as she's encouraged me to write about it. Not necessarily for validation, but because I need to get it out but I'm not at a point where I can say it out loud, even to her. I suggested giving her my reddit info, but she didn't think that was a good idea. The thought is that I will do better if I don't feel like my thoughts are exposed to anyone I feel has power in my life. We've also discussed my apparent need to defend myself, even to commentors who seem hell bent on ignoring anything I say. I've actually broached that topic, without mentioning Reddit, with my wife. I asked her at the end of our most recent MC session if she thought I always have to be right. She said no, that it isn't that I always have to be right; it's that I can't ever be wrong. Apparently, those are two different things. And I want to thank those of you who have left kind comments or sent msgs. I know I haven't responded to most of them (read them all, though.) Some thing about exchanging one-on-one private messages feels more like violating my wife's trust than posting 'out in the open'. But I do appreciate the support more than you know. And to whoever sent the Reddit Cares referral (I think that's what it was called), I'm OK and it means a lot that someone was worried about me. I'll update if/when we find out who sent the report or when I know more about SIL cheating (BIL texted me after he heard about my son's fall, but I haven't managed more than a 'thanks' in reply yet) or if we make any breakthroughs in counseling, if anyone wants to know. tl;dr - someone in our family called CPS, but we don't know who. I'm consulting lawyers and I'm in intensive therapy that's pushing me to deal with things I've ignored or downplayed. And BIL reached out but we haven't talked yet. Relevant Comments OOP responds to a downvoted commenter accusing him of looking for someone to blame on instead of himself OOP: I've got three jobs and don't drink, never yell at the kids, don't degrade anyone, no shouting. If you didn't read the other posts, my kid had a seizure and fell down the stairs. The hospital viewed it as a medical issue and an accident with no reason to suspect abuse. But someone in our family called in a report on me, specifically, after the hospital. I mean, I know I defend myself too much but the whole situation feels like someone intentionally trying to do damage, not protect my kids. Commenter 1: Is your therapist really saying you need to defend yourself against everyone on Reddit who criticizes you? I am skeptical about that. OOP: The other replies were right. I have a habit of defending myself excessively. Therapist is helping me to understand why and how to better manage the feelings that are at the root of it. She's absolutely not encouraging me to defend myself against criticism. Commenter 2: Sit all the family who were at the hospital down and tell them they have five minutes to admit what they did or you're cutting them all off. Their responses will tell you who it was. They tried to get CPS to take your kid. Gloves are off. OOP: I like the idea. And in an ideal world, that's what I'd do. But if it was my MIL/SIL, my wife would have to be on board with cutting them off and she's just not. And if it was my parents... cutting them off sounds great, in theory. But if I do, then all I've got left is my wife and that's nowhere near a certainty, and her family who hate me. I know keeping in contact with my parents just so I still have some sort of family is not a great reason and I will probably get told that I'm dumb for it in the comments, but I don't know what else to do. And that, in a nutshell, is why I haven't confronted anyone yet. Because neither answer is good. And, tbh, I'm just pushing off the inevitable because I'm pretty sure I know what happened and I can't bring myself to know for sure. OOP answers a couple questions 1) is your wife angry that her mother reported you to CPS? - She's pissed off that someone reported me and that we had the added stress of dealing with that on top of our son's health issues. I don't know how she will react once we know for sure who did it. 2) does your wife still have essentially zero respect for you? Or is she at least starting to see that there are things wrong with how you are perceived? - I honestly don't know. She is clearly and vocally mad that anyone could suggest that I would abuse my son. We haven't actually spoken to either of our families since CPS came - everything through text so there's written documentation - but I've seen the texts she has sent to her mom and she's made it VERY clear that there is no world in which I would ever be an abusive dad and she will not listen to any arguments to the contrary. I don't know if that translates to any respect for me as a man or husband. I understand what you were saying about being right and being wrong. I think it reflects my mindset fairly accurately. And I really think it explains why I have spent too much energy and effort arguing with the negative comments. My folks spilled mercury on the floor and vacuumed it up... How bad is it?
I am NOT the Original Poster. That k33ponkeepingon. They posted in r/CleaningTips Do NOT comment on Original Posts. Latest update is 7 days old. Original Post: June 6, 2025 Apparently stepfather decided that it would be a good idea to play with a small bottle of mercury and somehow spilled a few drops on the floor (About the same amount you would find in a thermometer, as I found out). The real problem is that they used a vacuum cleaner to clean it up. AFAIK coming into contact with it in liquid form is not a big deal but involving a vacuum cleaner changes everything. I told them to leave the room, open all the windows, and get rid of the vacuum cleaner bag immediately but they're entirely unconcerned. Aside from notifying authorities, what else can be done? How big is the risk and how serious was the exposure? Thanks in advance. Some of OOP's Comments: Commenter: The vacuum cleaner must be destroyed. It's contaminated Everything that touched the mercury, like towels or brooms, must also be thrown away Throw away everything it touched, unfortunately OOP: Thanks. Told them to do this. Got accused of blowing things out of proportion and being paranoid. I'll try again but not much I can do if they don't value their own lives I suppose🤷 Commenter: Why do they have mercury to begin with? OOP: Beats me. He hoards all sorts of garbage for no reason. He was never the sharpest tool in the shed but it got worse as he got older. Commenter: It sounds like this was significantly more than a thermometer’s worth of mercury. In which case hoovering was an exceptionally poor decision. The chemistry sub has lots of advice on this, but at the volume, I wouldn’t assume the risk was gone . How much was in the bottle ? (Volume ) , and I have to wonder what the reason for having it was OOP: Their description is "one, maybe two drops that were no bigger than a grain of rice". Not super helpful but could be worse I guess. Commenter: You’re downplaying it based on what they describe as small droplets, but vacuuming can cause them to create mercury vapour. Doesn’t matter if it’s small. [...] OOP: No downplay here. Just told you of their answer when I asked them how much was the spill. I'm fully aware how dangerous even a tiny droplet can be. Commenter: I broke my mercury thermometer during Covid. It was glass and on my bathroom counter, it rolled into the sink and the glass broke. It was about that amount. With the exhaust fan on, I put on nitrile gloves and wiped up the globs, wrapped the trash before disposing of it, and cleaned the sink. Then I died, this is my ghost. OOP: Worry not friendly ghost; I shall be joining you soon :) In response to a longer comment: I'm not in the USA but we do have a poison control hotline in our country. I called them and explained the situation. They advised to throw away anything that had come into contact with mercury, walk outside the house for 3-4 hours, and air out the house. I can't say I'm convinced, but this is how much they care🥲 Update Comment: 2 hours later Finally convinced them to call the authorities and make them get rid of the vacuum cleaner. Score one for me. Update (Same Post): June 7, 2025 (Next Day) Update: Side note: I'm not in the USA. So I drove over to their house and called the emergency line in my country. First the local security forces and health teams came. When I explained the incident they did not take it seriously. They gave me mocking looks and sarcastic smiles. "Dude, such a small amount, why make this fuss" etc. Then a team from an institution called Disaster and Emergency Directorate has come. This team cleaned up the remaining mercury with measuring devices and special equipment. They said I did the right thing by calling and congratulated me. They confirmed the ignorance of my family and the teams that came before them. Looks like everything that could be done, has been done. They told them to take a health test after some time. Fingers crossed that they will comply. Now another team from the Ministry of Environment is on its way to take the vacuum cleaner and other contaminated stuff. After everything he caused stepdouche (Chloe said it best) has the nerve to complain about the bill they will hand them because of me and cost of the vacuum cleaner. Told him to search "mercury poisoning" and check out some visuals to maybe get back on the right track. Thank you everyone. I think it's been an insightful post with good info and interesting stories. REVISED ! How to get a better femboy body !
I HAVE ENTIRELY REVISED THIS GUIDE I GOT SOME NEW INTERESTING INFORMATION!!!! (extended workouts for those tryhard femboys (me tbh) are at the bottom (also me) Workouts ! I have been working out some, which can help with certain areas of the body. Mostly the workout regime consists of squats, lunges, and some pushups and crunches. I do it before bed 6 days a week, and ive seen visible improvements. Basically, do what you can! ( I dont always do it, I do forget lol) I tend to do this, but you can cut it down if needed. 20 Squats 10-20 pushups, or what your able to do ;3 20 lunges 20 Hip thrusts, im starting to be able to do 25 If you really want to you can do more. The list below does have some weights, so use what your comfortable with ! 40 squats, in sets of 20 20 pushups in sets of 10 40 lunges in sets of 10 (or 20) and as many crunches/situps as you can do! (about 20 is good!) 20 Sumo Squats, where you hold 2 dumbells or other weights in front of you, keeping your legs in a wider stance. Do these in sets of 10, and as many as you can while squeezing your butt ! Weighted hip thrusts ! Video on hip thrusts! Try doing that for a month or so, slowly increasing the lunges and squats, which works your thighs and butt muscles, and you should start losing weight! Increasing reps on the whole workout will be ideal. you should start seeing improvements pretty quickly, and once you do, you can change your reps to be more personalized and work areas that YOU want to be better. Try doing some romanian dead lifts! It helps train the upper hamstrings and adds some thickness to the back of the upper thighs, which translates to a better supported bootay! (from u/shmol-boi ) WHAT YOU EAT AND HOW YOU DIET WILL DEPEND ON YOUR BODY TYPE ! I AM SKINNY AND THIN AND BARELY GAIN WEIGHT. I EAT LOTS OF FATTY FOODS CUS IM TRYING TO GAIN WEIGHT. DONT FOLLOW MY EXAMPLE... Unless you want to :3 Food wise... limit the fast food you get. stay away from Burger King and Mc donalds and whatnot. Stick to better foods, or homemade meals. I tend to buy a frozen pizza, and doctor it up. (Wild Mikes Frozen Pizza is AWESOME) more lean meats, and veggies are good. Snacking is fine! Its not something to COMPLETELY avoid! I snack lots... If your looking for something salty, potato chips are okay, but in moderation. something sweet? find something that has no sugar, so made with monk fruit, or other sugar replacement. (DISCLAIMER: I got yelled at earlier about giving diet/food advice, AND THATS ALL IT IS. ADVICE. I AM NOT A MEDICAL PRACTITIONER. YOU DONT HAVE TO TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY. I AM A CUTE FEMBOY WHO JUST WANTS TO HWELP THE COMMUNE.) (April 18, 2025) SKIN CAREEEEEE Ive started doing more for my skin, mostly because I have some acne, and random bumps... So! Heres what ive been doing. I recommend taking lukewarm showers or cold showers, less irritating to your skin, and brings less oils out. In the shower, I use a exfoliating towel. ITS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE GLOVE (for my skin at least) I USED IT ONCE AND IM SMOOTH ALL OVER. It can be used anywhere on the body, and really smooths you out. I LOVE IT :3 I pair it with the CeraVe, and so far it works wonders ! Glove and towel links below :3 CeraVe link Exfoliating TOWEL Exfoliating Glove Link (this is a example, find one that works for you) You can use the CeraVe on your face, if ya need it btw. your skin needs water. DRINK WATER. DO NOT GET DEHYDRATED. Feels like your lips are dry? DRINK WATER. Going to sleep? DRINK WATER. Waking up? DRINK WATER. About to do somthing funni? DRINK WATER. Car crash? DRINK WATER. Cuddling your bf? DRINK WATER (especially then cus who knows what you will do :3 ) You should be drinking tons of water every day, this will really help your skin. like... ya know what a blender bottle looks like? about 5-8 of those a day. I still fall behind on that, but *gulp, gulp gulp* I try to keep up, and drink *gulp gulp gulp* about 4-6 bottles a day. Another thing that helps, Vitamin D. (both kinds if ykyk) Get outside some, get a little sun ! Its good for your skin, usually. Anyway ! ill update everyone in a couple weeks, after I do this for awhile ! EXTENDED WORKOUT SECTION So, if you REALLY REALLY wanna here are some more workouts to add to the previous stoof. This is for your upper body, and will help with your waist size, and tummy :3 I recommend trying it out with a smaller amount of reps, half of what I do (below) once you are used to that, increase reps as usual! I saw differences the second day I did this surprisingly although it may be different for other people. dont be discouraged if you dont see IMMEDIATE improvements ! If you dont know what it is , google it ! theres tons of videos on how to do these :3 Chest muscles 15 chest presses 10 chest fly's 15 overhead chest extensions (lying down) 20 pushups Arms (biceps/triceps) 25 bicep curls 15 leaned bicep curls 15 wide bicep curls 10 skull crusherssss 10 tricep extensions 10 tricep pulls (lean forward, hold weights against your legs in front of you, ift to hip, keeping your elbows straight back) Shoulders 10 shoulder presses 10 arm lifts (lift your arms to the side, only to where your arm is straight out) 10 Arnold press submitted by /u/Decats45 to r/Boykisser3 [link] [comments]

Bought a box of science stuff at auction. It contains unexpected medical specimens, some quite grim. What do I do?
I am NOT the Original Poster. That is Ok-Foot9010. She posted in r/LegalAdviceUK Thank you to u/jennaorama and u/willington_bobble for the rec Do NOT comment on Original Posts. Read trigger warnings Trigger Warnings: non-consensual keeping of body parts; fetuses are found and one was taken after the mother died meaning there was no consent given; Mood Spoiler: really fucking freaky but OOP is a good person Original Post: April 28, 2025 Location: England. In short, I bought a box of assorted science stuff at an auction, remotely. So I hadn't inspected it in person and the photos were from a distance so it wasn't obvious what it all was. Honestly I was mostly excited about the rocks and minerals I could see in the picture. Having picked it up today, I've realised it must have been the personal collection of a doctor, because it includes quite a lot of bottles of various people's gallstones (labelled on the side with info about the patient, but no names), a piece of skin it says he took from a post mortem (presumably without consent), and -- worst of all -- two foetuses, one aborted, one "taken from killed mother." They're old enough to be historical-ish (most dates in the 1940s) but obviously I am now accidentally in possession of human remains, I think? And have no idea what to do or who to call. Obviously I a) don't want them and b) don't think the auction house should have sold them, and c) don't just want to throw them away. What do I do, please? Sorry for grim subject matter. Some of OOP's initial comments: Commenter: Is there a medical school near you? They will have procedures for ethical disposal of human remains and may be able to help you. It is legal to sell human remains in this country. OOP: I think so. I will call them and feel like a giant weirdo doing so. Thanks. Commenter: Local medical school and donate, can you identify which university dr was a lecturer at? As an option to donate. Final option is Edinburgh anatomical museum. https://www.ed.ac.uk/visit/museums-galleries/anatomical OOP: I don't think he worked at a university, it looks like he was the village doctor who also performed post mortems. Commenter: You need to contact either the police or a local coroner via 101 as others have suggested. Regardless of the age of the specimens they are still governed by the HTA. This means a chain of custody has to be followed precisely. The auction house is likely to get into serious trouble for selling these. The foetus and skin are not exceptions under “historical object” clauses, these are typically used for pre 19th century. You are unlikely to get into any trouble as long as you voluntarily report as it’s clearly in good faith. OOP: Thank you -- this is the kind of response I was expecting, was very surprised to see people recommending I sell them on or that it's totally fine to put people's skin on eBay! Commenter (downvoted): Why wouldn’t you want to keep them? They sound incredibly interesting. OOP: I feel extremely weird about owning a foetus from a woman who didn't agree to it being taken, and would probably be horrified to think it's in a jar in some random person's house 80-odd years after she was killed. The gallstones, I dunno, I guess I just never wanted a collection of pieces of other people's cholesterol?! OOP updates in comments: 1 hour later: Update: Currently on phone with police non-emergency. Not going to lie, they sounded pretty baffled, and I've been on hold several times! But explained about the bits of people in there (an appendix, the piece of skin, the gallstones, someone's tapeworm, the foetuses, etc) and they're taking notes and will tell me what to do next. 11 minutes later: They said they might come out and take the box, but then they rang back and asked me to email some photos. I hope they don't want photos of all the bottles of gallstones individually because there are TONNES. This guy liked his gallstones. 25 minutes later: Emailed photos. They are coming round at 4pm tomorrow. Would not confirm whether they will take the grim stuff. I hope they do because I really do not want to deal with it, especially since some of it looks like it's leaking. 5 minutes later: The worst part of all of this is that I only bought it to get some cool rocks, and the rocks aren't even cool as it turns out. Update Post: April 29, 2025 (Next Day) Hello LAUK, thank you for the help with my post yesterday. Lots of you asked for an update so here it is. Quick recap of the situation: I often buy interesting old and unwanted stuff at auction. My local auction house still does in-person auctions which you can either go along to yourself, or you can watch the livestream and bid online. You can also place bids on lots from their website, without seeing the item in person. This is how I ended up buying a box of misc scientific stuff which I thought might contain some cool rocks and equipment. The rocks, as it turned out, weren't that cool. But the box ended up being the personal collection of weird stuff of a doctor who was practising around the 1940s. There were bottles (so many bottles) of gallstones, a worm found in a child, an appendix, some skin (!) and -- sadly -- two human foetuses in jars. I didn't want this stuff and didn't know what to do with it, so I asked my most knowledgeable friend and she said to post anonymously here so I did. Lots of recommendations to talk to the police non-emergency number, and failing that, universities, hospitals, museums and some kind of macabre Instagram account. To the dude who PMed me offering me photos of your gallbladder operation... I'M not into gallstones! I have no desire to see that, thanks. The update: After a lot of "errrrrr.... hold please" and "there was an APPENDIX in there?" and "...HUMAN foetuses?" and "how was this box described?" and "how much did you pay for this?!", the police made an appointment to come round and see the box at 4pm today. They have just left and thankfully took all the human samples with them. This is a huge relief to me as I didn't want it and also didn't want the responsibility for disposing of it properly. The police were pretty surprised by the call apparently (sorry to the lady next to the call handler who was apparently eating pasta when she heard about the stuff in the box), but they've spoken to the human tissue authority who are going to help them dispose of it all properly. Apparently it shouldn't have been sold without the auction house having the appropriate license, so they're going to speak to them (but not in a punitive way, more of a heads up) and it will be recorded as a crime but no one's being punished or anything. Apparently I'm not being recorded as the criminal or the victim, just a connected person. BIG thanks to the people who took the time to let me know that the preserving fluid in the jars was probably formalin, which is carcinogenic. Unfortunately I was not wearing gloves but I did scrub my hands afterwards, thankfully. At least one of the jars had leaked quite badly (the appendix had no liquid left and you could see the lid of one of the other jars was almost eaten through as well) so I wish I'd been more careful but at least I know now, and someone's informing the auction house too as they obviously handled it also. I did ask if the family of the older foetus could be traced, because although the foetus would be in their seventies now if they'd lived, it says on the label that the mother was killed, so she hadn't given consent for her baby to be removed and put in a jar forever, and I thought there might be a family out there somewhere who'd like to lay her unborn child to rest, perhaps with her. The police weren't too confident of finding out whose foetus it was because there's not much info on the label (no patient names or anything), but they said they would try. The other foetus was from an abortion so although I suspect again the mother didn't consent to it being put in a jar and eventually sold to this random woman, at least I guess she probably didn't want it back and I suspect her family wouldn't even have known she had the abortion, so not much reason to try to trace that one. The police asked if I'd like to be updated with what happens to the samples, to which I've said yes. I would particularly like to know that the two foetuses are put to rest somehow and don't end up -- as some people suggested in the comments and my DMs -- as attractions on someone's Instagram or sold for profit. The other stuff might have some educational use maybe, I don't know, I don't mind if that ends up in a museum or something if it's helpful to future med students. Finally, I've put pictures of the contents of the box in an album here if you want to see them. I hope it goes without saying that this does NOT include the two foetuses, although the labels are there so you can see I wasn't making it up. Obviously caution is advised etc, many grim gallstones and worms and whatnot in there, as well as what seems to be one of the things you put in people's mouths before anaesthetic existed, a medicine spoon, a weird box contraption that was apparently for bloodletting, and some other bits I can't identify. There are some slides but whatever was on them is mostly gone, it looks like. There's a piece of paper with the doctor's name on if you want to see who he was. There's a picture of the auction listing in there too so you can see how I thought I was buying a box of rocks with some bottles of smaller rocks. It REALLY wasn't obvious, I spotted the radiometer near the back and all the mineral samples and thought it was just cool science equipment and types of rock. I would never have bought it had I known the horror that is "I've just handled a stranger's appendix in a jar from the 1940s and the liquid is leaking, also it causes cancer." What a monday that was. Thank you all again for your help and I hope this is the update you wanted. I feel MUCH better now those things are out of my house. submitted by /u/LucyAriaRose to r/BestofRedditorUpdates [link] [comments]

I met my husband that I divorced 3 years ago.
I am not The OOP, OOP is u/Empty-Ad-2301 I met my husband that I divorced 3 years ago. I miss my husband so goddamn much. No TWs Original Post February 28, 2025 I (35M) divorced my husband (36M) three years ago. And God, I miss him. I asked for a divorce for a few reasons, most of which being that his depression got exponentially worse day after day and he refused to seek treatment. Sometimes he wouldn't even go into work and ended up getting fired from his job. I stayed with him for so fucking long, praying that one day he would start trying to get better. It was all I ever wanted, but that day didn't come. I sobbed the entire time signing those papers, and when I handed them to him and asked for a divorce, he just gave me the emptiest, deadest look and signed them without a word. My heart felt like it had been shattered with a hammer, anger and sadness and fear tied together in the world's tightest, ugliest knot and inset deep into my chest. I put on a brave face for my friends, tried to frame it as shackles coming off and a new beginning, but it was a lie. It just hurt, and it keeps hurting, and it will never stop hurting. He was my soulmate. I'll never love anyone like I loved him. He used to be so sweet and loving, so passionate and happy and every other wonderful thing a man could want from another. They say each day gets easier, but it isn't for me. It's been three years and I'm still reaching over to the other side of the bed in the morning to pull him close, and it always stings when my hands touch fabric and not his skin. It's been three years and I'm still expecting to see his car in the driveway when I get home from work. It's been three years and my heart isn't any less broken than the day he left. I've been stalking his socials, I'll admit. He's been getting back to the gym, started meds, and I see him smiling so genuinely in these photos. He looks so incredible. Maybe if I had just waited, he would have changed his mind and went to a doctor like he is now? Or was it me that held him down? Was I making it worse? I hope not. I wanna go over to his place and just fall into his arms and beg him to take me back. Maybe he's wishing the same thing about me. If there's even a chance I could have my boy back I feel like I should try. I'll never know otherwise. EDIT: One: I am a homosexual man. My husband is a homosexual man. I am not a woman. Yes, I know I'm effeminate and kind of emotional. Get creative. Two: my husband was a binge drinker. He refused treatment no matter how much I begged. We got antidepressants but he wouldn't take them. I know he's started meds now because he's posted about them and his 2 yrs sober chip that he got last month. Three: I never stopped loving him. I never loved him any less. Near the end of our marriage, I started drinking to cope. The second I realized I was, I realized he was dragging me down with him, and I couldn't help him anymore. I didn't dip the second it got hard. Many of you are being kind of rude. I'll accept that I wasn't the perfect husband, nobody is. But claims that I never loved him are just wrong and make me feel sick to my stomach. EDIT 2: No, I am not the catalyst for this. His depression started when his young brother died terribly and unexpectedly. It's not because he just hated me so much. We were childhood sweethearts and had been together for years when this happened. RELEVANT COMMENTS Significant-Noise212 Sometimes, people just cannot progress until they hit rock bottom, and maybe you leaving was that for him. It doesn't necessarily mean you held him down, he just couldn't find the desire and motivation to progress while you were holding him. Don't beat yourself up. It wasn't your fault he was sick and didn't want to ask for help. In the end, we all need to want that help, without it all other people' efforts are worthless. In the end, if you ended amicably, you can always hit him up and ask how he feels. Maybe he'll ignore you, maybe not, but you'll now you've tried. And stop stalking him. That is keeping you from healing. OOP Thank you, I needed to hear a lot of this. Maybe I'll call him just to see how he's doing. He doesn't hate me, I know that much. I'd like to see him regardless. Poo_Poo_La_Foo Unless he's remarried, no harm in reaching out to say hello and seeing where the land liess. Reopen the channels? See what's what? OOP He's not remarried. He had some photos with this one guy for a while but I haven't seen any photos with him for a little over a year. I think he's single now. Hope he is. Update 1 March 2, 2025 Well, with Reddit's advice, I did it. A few days ago, I called my (35M) ex-husband (36M) whom I divorced after 6 years when he refused to seek treatment for his depression. I called him later in the evening. It was the first time we'd spoken since a bit of trouble he'd had while he was still drinking 2 1/2 years ago. He picked up on the second ring. Our conversation was a little stilted at first, as to be expected, but he said he was really glad to hear from me. We ended up meeting up for coffee yesterday as so many of you suggested. I'll admit: it was kind of hard to see him, but in a good way? He looked so much better than the last time I had seen him, but he looked exactly like the man I married. He had put off a ton of weight (he gained like 75ish pounds during his struggle with depression, and before some dick says so, I didn't leave him because of his weight gain), he looked way healthier and very put together. I'll just say it: he looked incredibly hot. What made it hard was that I couldn't kiss him hello like I used to. But God, the way his eyes lit up when he saw me, I barely needed to. We got our coffee and sat, and he updated me a little on his life in the last 3 years. What really turned his life around was in part the divorce but moreso a DUI (nobody was hurt, he was caught a few blocks from his apartment). He's since gone to rehab and AA, gotten his license back, and had to use a breathalyzer whenever he started his car for a while. He hasn't had a drop of alcohol since and I told him I was so fucking proud of him. He's also started antidepressants, and made a point of telling me that they're not SSRIs, but when I asked what that meant he got embarrassed and told me nevermind (???). Bottom line is that they've been helping him, he's back to being a gym rat, and he's almost completely turned his life around. This was around the point I started tearing up. It just felt so good knowing he was okay. Better than okay, he was *good*. I also apologized to him for not sticking by him. He cut me off and said I had nothing to apologize for. He was a wreck, and I was being dragged down with him. That also felt good to hear. I apologized for not contacting him much during the last 3 years. That apology, he accepted. He was dating someone for a few months, too. He broke up with him once he tried to get him to drink on New Year's. He seemed dismissive of the guy. Guess it wasn't too serious. We got up and went on a walk after a few hours, and I think we both realized it felt like a first date. I had to stop myself from trying to hold his hand at a few points, I'll admit. We ended up sitting on a bench in a nearby park, and I confessed. I told him I missed him more than anything, how I never stopped loving him, and how if he wanted to, I'd love to try again from the beginning this time. We'd go to couples' therapy, keep our heads above the water, and take it slow. He was quiet for a minute before he told me something. He said he was doing better now, but there may be a time where he sunk low again. Depression isn't easily cured, and he was far from cured. He still had bad days, but he said there would be one difference: he promised he would never stop trying to improve. He was never going to give up like he did before, and refused to neglect me like he used to. If I was willing to accept that truth, he was willing to try again. I agreed, and he pulled me into an embrace and snuck a kiss to my temple. You know when it's the first warm day of spring after a cold, harsh winter, and the soft breeze and basking sun hit your skin at the same time? It felt something like that, to the 1000th degree. After a while he walked me back to my car and squeezed my hand goodbye, and the second I got inside I started sobbing like a baby. Happy tears, though. I'm currently sitting in bed, kicking my feet like a teenage girl, texting him back and forth to schedule an actual date. He said he'd plan everything, and try his best to make up for the birthdays and anniversaries he missed. He said it would "knock my socks off." What a dork. I love being in love. Not gonna lie, this is gonna be a bit hard to explain to my friends and family. Not looking forward to those conversations, but right now I don't care. My man loves me. Thank you to everyone who had kind words to say, and all the people that messaged me with sympathy and advice. I hope we all find happiness, and love if we want it. I never would have made the leap if y'all hadn't encouraged me. Best of luck to all of you, and sorry for the overly flowery language

Husband poured cold water on me while I slept
Feeling overwhelmed and looking for advice… Background: My (32 F) husband (42 M) and I have a 7-month old baby. I exclusively nurse (we did triple feeds the first month because he was born very small and had low blood sugars and then switched to exclusively nursing because the bottles, pumping, etc were all too much for us, baby was spitting up / vomiting / etc) so we are currently only nursing (with some solids introduced during the day for texture / taste). We tried to reintroduce bottles around month 3 or 4 and baby refused. We’ve tried straw cup drinking around months 4 or 5 which might’ve been too early. It’s on my to do list to try again with straw drinking. We had some challenges at first with solids (he broke out in full blown hives with the first 3 foods he tried which spanned over about a month to allow breaks to recover between foods). I’ve also had various health conditions pop up since he was born (so on going about 7 months now) that I’ve been struggling to manage. We had ants a few months ago and I thought I had ant bites all over my feet and legs. The “ant bites” ended up spreading and ongoing for months and I eventually learned that they are rashes, not ant bites. My hands started to break down in rashes too which I thought was a manifestation of my celiac (gluten intolerance) so I thought it would go away because I haven’t been consuming gluten and assumed I must have accidentally consumed some that triggered a reaction. When the rashes persisted, I scheduled with a dermatologist and she prescribed some creams including a steroid and antibiotic which have been difficult to balance because I need my hands to take care of baby. I ordered cotton and non-latex gloves to put over the creams but even getting the time to go through the cream routine, brushing my teeth, etc etc has been tough because baby is so mom-dependent right now and cries a lot with dad despite efforts for them to bond. At months 3 or 4, baby would take to dad for maybe 5-15 minutes total per day (24 hours). We don’t have any other family support and I’m staying home full time currently to care for baby. Our current routine is that baby wakes up at 6:15 am, nurses until about 6:45 am, hangs out with his dad until 7:45 am, and then dad gets ready and goes to work at 8 am, returns at 4 pm. I usually sleep during that 45 minutes because after caring for baby all night (we also co-sleep and co-nap, please don’t criticize) it is the only time I get to stretch out in bed and sleep as a solo person and can sleep on my belly or however I choose. It is my only “me” time, and I choose to sleep after late nights with baby eating every few hours because I am completely exhausted and need the energy to take care of a baby solo for the next 8+ hours. Fast forward to today, I was dead exhausted this morning, and instead of letting me sleep, my husband kept insisting I wake up and poured cold water all over my face while I was asleep. It turned into a fight. We hired someone this week (as a trial week) to help us meal prep because I’ve been struggling to prepare healthy meals for myself while also caring for a 7-month old. We were still arguing when she was supposed to arrive so I suggested we ask her not to come today and we’d still pay for the day and groceries of course. He got mad saying the world doesn’t start and stop for my feelings which is true but we can’t have a stranger in our own while we’re arguing and I was still shaken up by the morning (husband smacking me and pouring cold water on my face to try to wake me up). When I mentioned cancelling today, he said, “No, she is fired if you cancel her today! You can starve!” He says I was “faking being asleep” and I kept asking him not to speak on my intentions and I wasn’t fake sleeping, I was actually sleeping. Although “sleeping” is an oversimplification. In reality, I was half asleep, half awake, half paralyzed by what was going on around me and too exhausted to even use my words, half utterly defeated by the complete lack of emotional support I’ve been desperately needing. I know this post is all over the place, we are just struggling, and I don’t know who to turn to for emotional support. I have been asking my husband for months for emotional support and am faced with invalidation and dismissiveness and I’m exhausted and don’t know what to do. Any advice would be appreciated. submitted by /u/ellie9236 to r/Advice [link] [comments]

AITA For Not Sharing the Surprises in the Dingy House that Was My Share of Inheritence?
I am not OP. That is u/Unlikely_Cap_713 who posted to r/MarkNarrations TW: death, cancer Original Post Sept 7th, 2024 Throw away because I have family on my main I 37F have two siblings 43M and 29F. For the sake of the post, I will call them Mason and Brittney. Our father died when we were young due to an undiagnosed heart problem. His parents had gifted them an old family homestead on a lot of land at their wedding and helped a lot to keep our family above water before they passed. Our mother finally found her feet after about 5 years of deep depression and did well for our family. But she was also very frugal. We had good clothing but no fancy vacations. Our mother had ignored signs of bad health for years, even when we tried to get her to go see someone for it. She passed away recently due to late stage cancer, leaving us with a lot. My siblings each got more than 150,000 in money, sentimental but expensive items, and furniture. I did not get the money. I received the house, the land and some items. The house and land (which had been sold off bit by bit over the years due to mom's declining health and inability to properly tend to it) is worth far below the 150,000 my siblings received. I had moved in with mother near her end, and it really was only supposed to be temporary as I believed the house would be sold after her passing and the money split three ways. I already had a plan to roommate with a friend and her family after mom's death to make that process go more smoothly. Most of my stuff has been sitting in storage for almost a year. As the only one who worked from home, I could watch the home health workers and nurses to make sure they were being kind, doing their jobs, and not stealing. Mostly, it was to make sure they treated my mother with respect and kindness but my brother did worry about someone walking off with her wedding ring since she was so attached to it. We all agreed for it to be placed in with her ashes. So I made a little set up and took care of her. My siblings came by frequently, 3-6 times a week, each of them. Mason had 2 kids and Brittney only has 1 but they visited as well, though not as much near the end because it was hard for them. So in the weeks leading up to her death, my mother had me pack up what items went to who in large boxes and set them off to the side. My siblings hated me doing this but understood it was what she wanted. The will was read, they checked their boxes to make sure my mom didn't miss anything when telling me to pack, and they left me to my house. Weeks passed and I finally felt like I could start doing things to the house. Now, I did say the house was dingy. Its not worth 150,000 but the housing market is crazy so I thought it was a bit of a luck. It needs repairs: the roof, the chimney, the water heater, some pipes, the doors and windows for heating purposes, and everything inside is so darkly painted or made of wood that just sucks out all of the light. I immediately had people checking the roof, the chimney and the water heater. My siblings offered to lend me the money but I declined as I had been saving for a while to buy an apartment or something small since it is only me. I could also rent rooms for the local college students to get some of that money back. I picked out paints for different rooms but decided to leave the wood flooring. As I started going through everything in the house, which had specifically been left to me as stated in the will, I began finding things. Money in books, and there are so many books. Money taped under beds, money folded into the "fancy sheets", money hidden in the tea pot and cups that has been passed down int the family which we had never been allowed to touch in fear we might break them. I found jewelry in different boxes, hidden in the attic, the vents, in sock drawers. Some of it was so gaudy it had to be costume but I put it all together (thank goodness I did) and took it to be appraised. The worth of the jewelry is nearly half of what my siblings got, even the would-be costume jewelry is worth something. Even now, I'm still finding things. I found antique items, fancy watches, untouched clothing and bags with price tags still on them, belts and shoes still in their boxes. All of this was tucked away, apparently hidden, and not talked about. Some of the clothing still had recites, and since neither I nor my sister can wear them I took them back to see if I could get the refunds or started selling them online - since, again, everything left in the house was specifically left to me. I took the cash and used it to help pay for the immediate repairs, and it almost covered the whole thing. I looked through the jewelry and kept what I liked, which was very little as I am not into that sort of thing, and put aside some for my sister and my brother's daughter. I liquidated the rest and put that into savings. I also put aside some of the bags and belts and watches for my siblings and their families. We can't fit the clothes but those things are easier to swap around. I invited everyone over and gifted them the items, telling them I had found them while I was cleaning everything out and thought they may like to have them. Everyone was happy to get them, and there wasn't much bickering among the kids. They asked what else I found and I explained the jewelry I kept and the clothing I was selling off. My brother got a weird look on his face and asked if I had found any money. I told him I had, but tried to downplay it as mostly change and loose bills. He asked to see the money and I grabbed a giant water refill container I had started storing all the coins in. He told me that was a lot of coins and asked if I was going to use it for the laundry mat since I left them all loose. I rolled my eyes because I have a washer/dryer set. I told him there was no point in cashing them in until I cleaned the whole house. He told me to let them know so we could all split that and the money I got from selling the clothing. When I asked why, he said "So we can split it." I asked him why I would split it when they all had gotten large cash inheritances, sentimental and expensive things, and some other things? I literally got the house, the problems, the clean up and the nice things I did find that I thought they might like, I handed over without being asked to. He told me I didn't have to be a greedy asshole about it and to never mind. My sister gave me the side eye but didn't say anything. But I feel guilty for misleading how much I had actually found, even though it was all put towards making the house better. To be clear: all of my mother's debts were paid and she had money set aside for the funeral service and cremation. So AITA? Update Sept 11th, 2024 Throw Away account Edit: spelling. Firstly, I wanted to thank everyone for their kind words and bits of advice. I felt much better after reading so many of the NTAs comments. I also took to heart the "shut your mouth" comments, even if a few of them seemed a little rude. Onto the update. My house (still feels weird saying/typing this) already had outside cameras due to when I moved in and installed them. But I did go and add more to the property line, inside the house in key spots, and around the garage. I also put up no trespassing signs while I look through companies that do proper fences. The property is just small enough I can swing the fence. I did change the locks as soon as I read the advice to do so. I hadn't thought about that, since I work from home. Mom also kept a spare hidden in a plant because my sister used to lose everything constantly so I made sure to remove it and not replace it with the new one. Its a good thing I did all of this because two days after my initial post, I had to run into town for groceries and a few quick errands. I live on the outskirts with neighbors a bit of a distance either way so they wouldn't notice anyone stopping by. I got a notification on my phone about movement and I checked because I wasn't expecting any packages. My brother was getting out of his car, looked around, and checked the windows. He tried his key in the door and got upset it didn't work. He checked the flower plant and kicked it over. The cameras around the house let me communicate so I just said, "That was rude" into the speaker. He jumped and spun around to see nothing. I asked him what he wanted and he demanded to know why I put up cameras. I said, "Because I'm a single woman living in the woods? Ya dumb shit." He shifted from foot to foot before saying he would be back so we could talk and he left. I messaged the video evidence of him trying to get in while I wasn't home to him, his wife, my sister and her fiancé. With the message I sent - I changed the locks because I don't know who mom gave them out to - like her friends - and I have cameras. Because of this attempt to get in while I'm not home, no one will be getting the new key. I don't just randomly try to get into your house when your not home." He sent me a lot of nasty texts after that, trying to shame me for doing that. I told him he shouldn't be doing things he doesn't want others to know about, and that its a reflection on him, not me. He told me I was a bitch and blocked me. My sister thinks I went too far by telling his wife, because she is threatening to take the kids to her mom's. And she thinks I went too far by showing her fiancé because now he doesn't want him to have keys to their's for emergencies. Somehow, I get the feeling this isn't over yet. Time to adopt a very big dog. Update 2 Sept 14th, 2024 Firstly, thank you everyone who made new comments and gave more advice. I particularly enjoyed the entire mini-thread about the geese guards. Super amazing and cute idea. But I have a terrible fear of birds. So I am adopting a bonded pair of doggos from my local shelter. Once my name clears from the "cruel to animals" list of "these gross people aren't allowed to adopt" list, I can take them home. No pictures yet, I'm afraid. I really wasn't set on making another post. Or if I did, it would be when this is all washed and done. I did start a paper trail with both the police and a lawyer, who is a family friend. I documented the attempted break in, didn't press charges but had them speak with my brother, and have him put on notice. He ended up getting new phone numbers, yes with an S, to contact me to berate me and shame me for "siccing those pigs on (him)". I took all of those messages to the lawyer and sent off a few things: a cease and desist for the alarming numbers of calls, texts, social media DMs and emails he sent me. Some were full of rage about how I "took his kids from him" and the others were about how he "knew you rat bitch found money in the house". Not once did he mention the post and honestly I'm done enough with him that I don't care if he sees it because LAWRENCE SAYS YOU CAN'T TOUCH THIS MASON (fake name) Anyway. My sister "Brittney" (fake name) asked me out to coffee and apologized for taking Mason's side. She just didn't want the friction and thought the three of us could have worked it out together instead of getting others involved. She and her fiancé have the understanding that he handles his family and she does her's. I guess, for like disputes and things. So by sending it to him before she had a chance to even react to it, it felt like overstepping because I didn't give her the chance to do literally anything before her fiancé was losing his mind. I did apologize because I hadn't thought of it like that. I asked her what she would have done if I had just sent her the video and she said she would have sat on it for like a day to think about it and then probably would have asked me for more information or talked to him to see what the hell he was thinking. She also said I was a "fucking moron" for saying the gifts I had given everyone had been from the house. I should have said something about a bonus at work or something. I have no reason to trust her but it makes sense so I am going to cautiously keep in mind that she does have a harder time getting thoughts and emotions across in a "normal" way. Our parents weren't into the whole "test your child for xyz" so she has been struggling with the idea of being tested for certain neurodivergent tendencies. All this said, I found something really weird and I don't want to open it. In the basement, tucked far into a corner and buried behind a bookshelf and under boxes and boxes of things is an ancient looking freezer. It was and still is plugged in. Its running. It was buried and dusty in a way that I know there is no edible food inside of it. But you ever get that feeling that something just....isn't right? Do I open it? Do I pretend I never saw it? Do I have someone else open it? Any ideas about why it was hidden? My one friend joked it was my grandfather's game box and it has decades old deer inside of it. Is that a thing? Update 3 Sept 15th, 2024 I wanted to thank everyone for the words of advice and ideas how to go about finding out what is in the freezer. I also have a mini update on Mason (fake name). I will get the freezer out of the way because I know so many are eager to hear about it. I called over my lawyer friend Lawrence (fake name, neat lil play on words yeah?) and explained that I needed more information on a few things but would need a house call because of the contractors coming and going. When he arrived and no one was there, he looked annoyed until I explained the freezer. He told me if we found a body, he was bailing but was laughing as we went down to the basement. This was all yesterday. We put on gloves and the masks. He held the camera, and said all this identifying stuff like date, time address, ect. I opened it. Inside were important documents sealed in a lot of plastic. There were also old bottles of moonshines, frozen pressed flowers in a book with dates, a bit of cash (coins, specifically) and an ancient looking porcelain doll. The documents were birth certificates and death certificates going back quite a while. It looks like I would have had another sibling if they had lived, and I would have had three more aunts if they had lived, and a few other even older relatives. We figure the flowers were from the funerals or services, considering the dates attached the pages the flowers were pressed. The bottles....jars, really... of moonshine looked old. The only reason I knew it was moonshine was thanks to Lawrence. He said alcohol doesn't usually freeze and he opened it, and told me based on the smell. The coins will be appraised very soon, as I am also still going through all the other coins I have found in the curtains, and other odd places. Thank you to the redditor who told me to look in the curtains. As for the doll, it looks very old but in good condition. It was in a box and wrapped with cloth, old newspapers and more. Lawrence thinks the hair on its head is real and human, because it certainly isn't synthetic. I had to dry it off after it thawed and there is a name smudged on its foot. Its sitting on my living room coffee table right now. I'm not sure what to do with it. The news paper dates give us a vague idea of the time frame it was put away in and its old. Onto Mason. His wife has filed for divorce. She is going for full custody. She has the kids with her at her mother's. She reached out to me and explained that Mason had told her the only thing left was the house and it was willed to all three of them, and that he was waiting for me to buy out his part of the house. But when I sent that message, something seemed hinky. So she started to dig. Mason has maxed out all their credit cards, the house is now on a reverse mortgage when it had been paid off, and he opened a few in her name. He didn't use that "life changing money" left to him to pay off any of that. She isn't sure where the money went but when she locked down her credit, it left him unable to use the cards he took out in her name and it sparked a massive fight. I can't even begin to imagine where the money has gone. He doesn't have new cars, new devices, new anything. Their two kids 14F and 10M are both old enough to understand what is going on. They won't talk to him until he tells them why they are losing their childhood home, why he hurt their mom, and where all the money is. My niece knows all the accounts are empty, including her college account and she is furious. My nephew isn't as worried about college (understandable). Mason keeps messaging me about how "its all (your) fault" and just overall being nasty. I would have blocked him if it wasn't for the fact we are collecting evidence. My sister admitted he is ranting to her about it all but she doesn't want to get him upset at her because they live just a few blocks away from each other so its easier for him to come knocking on her door. Despite that, she will not be staying with me. My fence should be starting built any day now. I will be getting my two doggos tomorrow. I think I have everything I need. So, that is everything so far. Update 4 Sept 22nd, 2024 Hello everyone! I'm sorry its been a bit since I updated. Between the fence, the new doggos, and problems with Mason, I just didn't have time to update. So to start, I am very sorry to say that I have forgotten my doggy tax. When I have time or remember, I will post them on this profile. One is a pittie and one is a German Shepard. They are both high energy but not what one would consider "pups", though they are my pups. Next, thank you everyone for your wonderful insight and ideas. I did pass along to my (soon to be ex) SIL about checking her children's credit. I checked mine as well. The kids have smaller problems with their credit now, thanks to Mason. She locked down credit and I sent Lawrence (my lawyer, fake name) to speak with her and he set her on a path of wrecking Mason with one of his lawyer friends who specializes in this sort of thing. My credit was not touched but I have locked it down, and I warned my sister of the same but I haven't heard back. To clear a few things up quickly. When my SIL told me they were "underwater on the house" I had translated that to a "reverse mortgage" because there was a big celebration years ago about them finally paying it off. When SIL locked down her credit, she jumped through hoops and got the several cards that she did not open shut down. I don't know those details but it was done very quickly. Yes, several. So for the confusion, I do apologize. I wanted to keep things short. I won't be able to do much in terms of trust funds for my niblings, unfortunately, but I am the trustee or overseer of the ones my mother had set up for them. Debating heavily on telling them/my SIL because word might get back to Mason. I fronted three month's worth of rent for my SIL so she could get her own place so that the courts had no reason to look at her with suspicion. Mason is quickly going to lose the house and I don't want any reason to chance her custody. Another reason I did that was so that she and the kids could get to somewhere he didn't know about. All contact is now through lawyers. Mason went to her mother's house while they were all out to a school function and destroyed the place. They are still trying to figure out if anything was taken. Furniture, pictures, and decorations were smashed, clothing (including his own kids') were shredded, and he threw mud all around the house. He popped tires on my SIL's car, and threatened the neighbors. The neighbors called the cops, there was a problem during the arrest, and he and one of the cops were sent to the ER for stitches. How he managed bail money, I don't know. But I suspect he bullied our sister Brittney into it. Because she has been radio silent during all of this. I think he may have taken up staying with her. The house is going to be taken any day now, and my SIL is fighting to keep her car. That was what my SIL told me. Mason has been nonstop messaging and calling me. He even started a smear campaign on social media, getting our extended family to ream me out for not supporting a grieving man who just lost his mother, his wife, his kids, his house and his dignity. When I spoke with them it quickly became apparent he circulated one hell of a bullshit story that painted me as a wicked sister who stole everything from him and that's why I could afford to do all the work on the house. Like, I have a drug problem and dried up everything he had for drugs, rehab and more. All. Bullshit. Even after talking with them, not very many believe me. My fence is being built, and work around the house is still ongoing. I added a home security system and a few hidden baseball bats because some of the DMs I got about what he could do scared me. I added extra locks around the house and am considering getting rid of the sliding glass door or getting something to lock it like a gate. Lawrence warned me putting too much going forward might harm my case of a restraining order and slander. So if I update it might not be for a while unless something wild happens. My boss' stepson is a Kevin to end all Kevins.
Fun Fact To Cover Spoilers: Jupiter also has rings. However, they are very difficult to see and are made of dust instead of ice and rock like Saturn's rings are. Jupiter also has dozens of moons in its orbit. Content Warning: Underage Drug Use, Injury, Antisemitism, Attempted Theft Mood Spoilers: Amusing, Frustrating, No Actual Conclusion I am not the OOP, that would be u/legomanian89 who posted these on r/StoriesAboutKevin - My boss' stepson is a Kevin to end all Kevins. (Originally Posted November 3rd, 2018) So just over a year ago I switched jobs and went to work for a guy (Bob) who is running a new/used aquarium shop. The shop was built onto his house, so as a result I've become pretty close with his family, including his 15-year-old stepson, who is the most Kevin person I've ever met. For the first couple months, I thought he was just a bit quirky and clumsy, but as I've come to know him more, I've discovered that he is a Kevin of the highest order. Now, I've known some dumb teenagers in my time. Hell, I used to be one. But this kid is just on another level. Just in the year that I've known him: He licked a lit match because he thought fire would taste like a Flamin' Hot Cheeto. He cannot climb a flight of stairs without tripping up them. This is a multiple-times-a-day occurrence. He once dropped a bowl of cereal and milk, and rather than clean the mess with a towel, he soaked up the spill with his sock. A sock that was still on his foot. He then put on his shoes, went out to catch the bus, and went to school with a soaking wet milk-sock. He went to the school nurse that day because he was convinced that his foot was bleeding and soaking through his sock. He wants to be the first pro-Trump rapper, and is currently pissed off at Kanye for stealing his idea. He's failing gym class. I have no idea how one fails gym class. He has broken more than 20 aquariums in the last year. When we buy used tanks, they need washed and leak-tested before we resell them. Kevin sometimes does this to help out, but can't understand that when you wrap the hose around an aquarium, you can't just yank it free. For reference, I've been in the aquarium hobby for 12 years and I've broken 2. He's not allowed to clean tanks any more. Bob was selling an older fairly-good-condition Cadillac that had been sitting in his driveway for a while. The day before the buyer came to pick it up, Kevin was mowing the yard and scraped the handle of the mower along the entire length of one side of the car. He likes to use "Jew" as an insult. When I called him out on it, I discovered that he thought that Jewish people didn't actually exist. He thought that they were an imaginary race of people that everyone pretended to hate. He played lacrosse on his school's team this summer, and got benched all season because he told the coach that he didn't need to run laps or go to practice. This is probably why he's failing gym class. He left in the morning like normal to go catch the bus. 3 hours later, he came back saying that he missed the bus, and he needed to be driven to school. The problem? It was Labor Day. There was no school. He stood at the bus stop for 3 hours on a day when there was no school. He eats absolutely everything in sight. If you leave food unattended for more than 10 seconds, it's gone. Bob went to Taco Bell and got food for the four of us. Kevin was left alone with it and ate his, mine, Bob's, and half of his mom's food before he realized that it probably wasn't all for him. When he found out that I'm a chilehead, he bragged for a week about how he loved super spicy food too. He then tried a glob of my Exhorresco (after I warned him repeatedly not to) and spent the next two hours crying and blaming me. We've been gradually remodeling the house when we're not working in the store. Kevin's bedroom was the first room we finished. He managed to put a hole in the wall on the first day he moved in. One day, completely out of the blue, he asked me "I know girls don't have a penis, but is there just like a hole beneath their belly button where a penis would be?". Bob told Kevin to wash the truck one day earlier this year. Kevin thought he'd be helpful and wash out the fuel tank as well. With water. His school lets him rent a tablet for schoolwork. He got it taken away within a week because he was using it for porn. I assume he wanted to find out if girls had a hole where a penis should be. His parents signed him up for tutoring to help with his grades. Turns out, all the tutoring in the world won't help your grades if you never turn in your homework. He was under the impression that homework was optional. Also, he routinely falls asleep in class. He thought that fish were just very active plants. Yes, really. He managed to tip over and dump the contents of the trash can he was taking it out to the roadside to be picked up. Rather than pick up the mess, he just kicked it around and spread it out across the yard, in hopes that it would be less noticeable if the mess was less concentrated. I know there's more I'm forgetting and I'll edit this post as I remember them, or as Kevin gives me more material. I'll just leave you with this tidbit: Kevin starts driving in 3 months. May the gods have mercy on us all. Edit #1: To everyone wondering if Kevin has some kind of undiagnosed mental health issues, I suppose it's possible, but it seems more like just a severe lack of common sense than anything else. I've never met his biological dad, but from what I've learned from his mom, he's one of those people who is habitually unemployed, yet spends all day bitching about how immigrants and minorities are a drain on society. I'm hoping Kevin will eventually grow out of his Kevin-ness and not follow in his dad's footsteps. OOP Then Provided Further Updates On The Original Post Edit #2 November 10, 2018: A couple more! One just happened this week, the other apparently happened a couple months ago and Bob just told me about it. Kevin decided he was going to practice his "blacksmithing" by removing the leaf catcher bag from the lawnmower and bending the shit out of the metal frame. He then realized after the fact that he was probably going to get in trouble for ruining the leaf catcher, so he decided to burn the bag and throw the frame in the trash. Bob found out, of course, and Kevin has spent the last week complaining about how tedious it is to manually rake the leaves out of the yard. Kevin discovered that you can take things apart with a screwdriver, and decided to disassemble the blender with his newfound knowledge. He took the entire thing apart and had no idea how to put it back together again, so he left the pieces all over the counter. When his parents asked him why he did it, he first denied that it was him, and then claimed that the blender just randomly fell apart for no reason. Edit #3 April 12, 2019: Since this is getting a bit of attention today, here's an update on how Kevin's 2019 has been so far. Kevin has not started driving yet, and he likely won't for at least another year. Bob bought him an old Jeep that needed repairs before it was driveable, and Kevin managed to knock one of the side mirrors off with his bicycle. I have no idea how. Kevin has decided to start writing a fantasy novel, and in a moment of weakness, I volunteered to be his beta reader. He then told me that it's going to be an "erotic orc fiction with swords". He was making a grilled cheese sandwich and decided to experiment and put peanut butter on it. He burned the peanut butter, set off the smoke alarm, ate half of it, gagged, threw it in the trash, then dug it out of the trash and ate the rest. He isn't allowed to have a cell phone because he is still failing a number of classes and he is too easily distracted by technology. So he's been going to Wal-Mart and buying the cheapest phone they have and hiding it from his parents. The problem is that he hides it in his pocket and doesn't know how to silence ringtones. He's had at least three phones taken away from him. He got a blunt from one of his friends at school, smoked it, and then told his parents that the smell was his new cologne. - My boss' stepson is a Kevin to end all Kevins: Part II. (Originally Posted August 6th, 2019) I’m back with more stories of the now-16-years-old uber-Kevin. For those that aren’t familiar, here’s the link to the original post. If you haven't seen this post yet, do yourself a favor and read it first before continuing here. You'll thank yourself for it later. I’ve been at this job for close to two years now, and not a week goes by where I don’t hear stories from Bob (my boss, Kevin’s step-dad) or Ann (Kevin’s mom). To be honest, I don’t know why they share these things with me because it’s really none of my business, but I’m not about to stop them because it’s truly fascinating what Kevin manages to accomplish. I still get the occasional message about him from various redditors here, so I’ll address the three most popular points first. He’s still not driving, nor will he be anytime soon. His parents decided that putting him behind the wheel of a two-ton machine could end with them accused of war crimes, so they told him that he wasn’t allowed to take a driving test until he gets his grades up. We’re safe for the foreseeable future. He apparently lost interest in the “erotic orc fiction with swords” that he was writing. He’s writing a new book now that involves a shape-changing weapon and the apocalyptic wrath of God. That’s all I know, and I’m not volunteering to beta-read this one. His parents have had him tested for autism and various other things, and so far it’s all come back negative other than mild ADHD. He’s on a medication for it. Whether he actually takes those meds is up for debate. I’m sticking with my initial analysis of borderline-malicious laziness and a stunning lack of common sense. Given that he’s not driving anytime soon, he’s been using his bicycle as his primary means of transportation, and that’s going about as well as you’d expect. He was riding his bike through town and went into a store, came back out and saw that his bike had been stolen. His mom had to come pick him up, but by the time she arrived, he realized that he had just forgotten what his bike looked like and it hadn’t been stolen after all. A week later, his bike was actually stolen. He has a bike lock, he just didn’t think it was necessary. His biological dad bought him a new bike to replace the stolen one. He’s blown out the rear wheel three times, broken the seat twice, the chain twice, and completely smashed the rear wheel rim, just since the middle of May. Since his second bike is now in shambles, he asked Bob and Ann if he could borrow their bikes. Bob said hell no, Ann said sure. Kevin managed to snap the rear axle and somehow broke the rear cassette. I gotta say, I’m almost envious of Kevin as his life is never dull. All I can do is enjoy his Kevin-ness by proxy, and thank my lucky stars that he’s not my kid. He “borrowed” the magnets from half a dozen coral frag racks we sell, and promptly forgot where he left them. They’re useless without the magnets. We had to order more. He found one of Bob’s power drills and drilled a bunch of holes in a support beam for the porch. He dumped an entire 12oz can of fish food into one of the tanks. This was at the end of the day and we didn’t notice until the next morning. The entire shop smelled like roadkill. He’s not allowed in the store any more. He got a job as a dishwasher at a nearby restaurant and was told to not come back after a week because he had broken so many dishes. He shot himself in the leg with a pellet rifle because he wanted to know what it felt like to get shot, because “that’s what thugs do”. (He was fine) He broke a plastic lawn chair, and decided to burn it to destroy the evidence. He got found out when the fire pit began belching acrid black smoke everywhere. He went to a week-long youth group retreat a few hours away and forgot to pack any clean clothes. Ann had to drive all the way there with clothes for him. According to Ann, she had packed clothes for him, but he left them all behind because he didn’t think he needed them. He tried to shotgun a can of soda. He managed to spray himself in the face. He tried again the next day with the same results. Bob bought a 150 gallon pre-formed above-ground pond to keep goldfish in during the warmer months. Kevin sat on the side and broke it. Kevin was bragging to his classmates that he had stolen drugs from his biological dad during a visit and would share them after school that day. A teacher overheard, he got in all sorts of trouble and had the drugs confiscated. They were fish oil capsules. In the last post, I mentioned how he had been buying cheap cell phones and unsuccessfully hiding them, despite being grounded from technology for failing all of his classes. His parents finally broke down and bought him a very basic flip phone that he could use for calling purposes only. He sold it at a pawn shop. He absolutely refuses to brush his teeth. His parents bought him an electric toothbrush, thinking that he might like it better than a manual one. He lost it. He got banned from the local comic book shop for spilling Mountain Dew everywhere. He decided he was going to cook a pork chop on the stove. He forgot about it and nearly caught the house on fire. Bob had cooked the pork chops the night before, and apparently Kevin thought that once the meat gets cold, it somehow reverts to being raw and needs cooked again. Lately, he’s been reading all kinds of survival books. He claims he wants to spend a year roughing it in the Canadian wilderness. I’m fairly certain he couldn’t even find Canada on a map. He’s absolutely convinced that standing in front of a microwave while it’s running will sterilize you. He goes as far as to retreat to the next room while he’s nuking his food. His parents bought a truck a few states away, and they decided to take a long weekend to go pick it up, leaving myself and Matt (a coworker) to handle the store in that time. No problem, right? Except that they left Kevin at home as well, with a rather long list of explicitly articulated Do’s and Do Not’s that he was expected to follow. They would have had better luck convincing a whale to spontaneously evolve into an elephant. He tried to use this parental reprieve to do everything he wanted without consequences. He tried to get into the store’s cash drawer. I had the key with me at all times, and even told me that Bob was okay with him taking cash out of the drawer once in a while (he isn’t, obviously). He had a fire roaring in the grill, a shop-vac blowing air into the coals, and was trying to melt a metal rod in the heat while using winter gloves to insulate himself. He claimed he was blacksmithing (again). I promptly shut it down before he caught the house or himself on fire. I went to the store’s garage to look for something. Kevin was there, and loudly announced “I’m not doing anything”. I hadn’t asked. I still have no idea what he was up to. Kevin announced to Matt and I that he was having friends over that night to smoke weed, take pills, and whatnot. I said not a chance. I called Bob. He said abso-fucking-lutely not. I told Kevin, and he said “his parents didn’t have to know”. He tried to bribe me with a few grams of weed. I turned him down. Matt stayed the night at the house, more to keep an eye on Kevin than anything else. Kevin invited his friends over anyway, they filled the house with weed smoke and threatened Matt when he confronted them. Matt called me, then called Bob. Bob called the next-door neighbor who came over and stormed into Kevin’s room, scaring the shit out of Kevin and his buddies. He then tried to bribe Matt with a few grams of weed as well. Matt also turned him down. Kevin and his buddies then tried to hide in the garage after the neighbor left. Matt found them when one of them knocked over a small aquarium and broke it, and they ran out through the back door. Bob and Ann skipped half of the plans they had and came home early. Needless to say, Kevin is in a world of trouble. Edit: Improved formatting a bit. Edit 2, Aug 21 2019: A quick update on his shenanigans over the last couple weeks He got a job at Dairy Queen and got fired after a week "for not maintaining a professional demeanor". That's retail-speak for "he can't keep his mouth shut around the customers". His bike got stolen. Again. He failed to lock it up while at work. Again. He's now on bike #3 this year, and he's already damaged the rear rim twice and bent a part of the frame. I still have no idea how one person can be so hard on a bike. He sliced a finger open because he tried to touch the non-serrated side of a band saw blade. While it was running. His reasoning was that he didn't think it would hurt because that side of the blade isn't sharp. Edit 3, November 20, 2019: Kevin is still Kevining it up. Here are the highlights since the last update. He's working at Taco Bell, and got written up because he was purposely making orders wrong. He was leaving off the tomatoes because he doesn't like tomatoes, and didn't think anyone else liked them either. He lost his cellphone. According to Bob, this is the 13th, yes 13th, phone Kevin has lost this year. He got busted for trying to buy cigarettes at a convenience store (he's 2 years too young to buy them legally). The manager of the store knows Bob and Ann, so he called them to let them know. Kevin got in trouble. He's tried to buy cigarettes from the same store two more times since then, with similar results. Autumn hit us like Brannigan's Law, and all the leaves fell at once. Kevin was supposed to mow them into the lawn, but he put it off for a week, and an early snowstorm dumped 16" on us. It soon melted, the leaves remained and were now soaked, and Kevin was told that he had to rake them now, rather than mow them. He tried to mow them anyway and clogged the mower, then tried to hide the mower, and told Bob he couldn't find the rake. Speaking of mowers, earlier in the year when he was supposed to mow the yard, he decided he'd rather not. Bob and I watched him open a bottle of water, pour it into the mower's gas tank, then try to start it up. After a minute of trying and failing to start the thing, he came in and told Bob that "oh darn, the mower won't start, guess I can't mow today after all". Bob wasn't amused. Edit 4, February 5, 2020: Last update here before this post gets archived. Kevin is currently taking driver's ed, one of those do-it-at-home internet classes. He's required to have so many hours of class time, and he's discovered that if he starts the lesson and lets it play while he does anything else, it counts as class time. Shockingly, he's failed the tests at the end thrice now. Ann planned to take him to get his permit this week, and after he got a whopping 12% on his final test, she decided that it may not have been the best idea. He announced to me that he's been learning all about our government and once he turned 18, he wanted to run for an office. May the gods have mercy on our souls. - Marked as ongoing for hope that OOP gives more updates on how this Kevin is doing. submitted by /u/boru_posts to r/BestofRedditorUpdates [link] [comments]

AITA for telling off a customer at work for her autistic son’s stim?
I (23F) work at a grocery store as a cashier. Over the summer I was temporarily located to the garden department in the parking lot, which I’ve been doing every year for 3-ish years. We have a regular whose son (~6-8?) has autism. Apparently one of his stims is spraying bottles. Like the cleaning kind. I didn’t know this until this incident. Our setup for the garden area till is kind of a U- or C- shape. We have a cart with the till so it can be taken inside overnight, and two tables bolted together. One table has a shelf underneath where we keep various paper towels and cleaning stuff (including a bottle of diluted bleach), as well as bags for customers buying non-plant items, pots that customers have brought back for recycling, garden gloves for the employees, etc. Around the whole thing is a table skirt that’s attached to the table. I really have no say in the set-up beyond moving things around on the shelf. Anyway, one day this mom brought her kid in. I saw him trying to reach AROUND the table legs to the cleaning supplies, so I moved them down the shelf closer to me and told him those bottles are for cleaning, not for touching and asked him to please leave them alone. Then I got started scanning his mom’s stuff. Out of nowhere, a bunch of droplets hit my sunglasses and cheeks. I looked up and the kid had pulled the table skirt - which was zip-tied tightly to the table - away, stuck his arm through, grabbed the bottle of bleach, and started spraying it around. I quickly grabbed it from him as his mom laughed and reminded me he’s autistic and said he has a spray bottle of water at home that he likes to spray people with. This is where I might be TA. I told her that first off, she shouldn’t be encouraging him to spray people with ANYTHING without their consent, and second, that wasn’t water, it was bleach, and they were both lucky I was wearing sunglasses because I could’ve gone blind. She was really offended and again tried to tell me he was autistic. I said that may be an excuse for him to not realize, but she needs to be paying closer attention to her kid in public places if he’s going to do stuff like that. She hasn’t brought her kid in since. I feel bad because he was a nice kid and I don’t know how much help she has at home, but I still feel like what I said was true. AITA for telling off the mom of an autistic child and prompting her to stop bringing him back? edit Soooo my post got shared over on r/amitheangel and people think it’s fake so to clear some things up… This story is 100% real. I wish it weren’t. I wish I haven’t had several people tell me I shouldn’t have gone off on her. I wish she had had the forethought to bring a spray bottle. I really wish. She still comes in, she just comes in alone. Yes, I did inform management. My direct supervisor that day thought it was funny that I went off on her. My manager didn’t care about any of the situation. These are the same people who let a customer harass and grope me for an ENTIRE shift (yeah that happened) and literally just made me stand there and take it. No one spoke to him. No one offered to move me to another station. No one did anything except stand back and laugh. I’m quitting this summer after I graduate from university. TIFU by downing 2 litres of apple juice and not appreciating the effect this has on the human bowel...
Obligatory throwaway account and this actually happened earlier this week. TLDR at the bottom. My job is driving around shops and putting out displays, leaflets, POS etc. I had one particular call that involved moving lots of heavy stock and building some massive displays. 2 hours of very heavy manual labour left me literally dripping in sweat and craving a nice cool, refreshing drink. Before leaving the shop, I went to the fruit juice chiller. £1 for 1 litre of apple juice, or £1.50 for 2 litres. I love apple juice so I'll take the 2 litres please. I drank the first litre in the 2 minute walk back to my car as I was incredibly thirsty. My next store was about 45 mins away so get in my car and crank up the air con. Drink the second litre of apple juice within the first five minutes of my drive and start to feel refreshed so stuck on a podcast and settled in for the drive. 15 minutes until the end of my drive and I start to get a bit of cramping in my stomach. Think to myself that I'll use the bathroom at my next store. 10 minutes until the end of my drive and the cramps are getting worse. Do a little lean to the side and try to let out a fart to see if that helps. Hmm, feels like I better not push too hard to try and get that out. 5 minutes until my destination and circumstances are getting worse. I'm shifting in my chair to try and get comfy, the urge to go is getting pretty urgent. I look for somewhere to stop that might have a bathroom but nowhere looks promising. Consider pulling over and running behind a tree or something but stuck in slow moving traffic so decide to clench and push on. Pulling in to the car park, I try to park as close to the store as I could and get ready to literally run through the store to their bathroom. I park and lean over to the passenger footwell to pick up my jacket... That was a bad move. The lean to the side has compromised my clenched sphincter, the dam gives way and the floodgates open. I feel warm liquid fill my boxers. It stinks, but in a way there is a small relief as the intense stomach pains are almost gone. I sit there in a puddle of apple juice that had just rapidly passed through my digestive system and contemplate my options. I do what any sane man would do and call my wife: "Hello?" "Babe, I've got a problem." "Oh no, are you OK? Have you been in a crash? Are you hurt" "No... I've shit my pants and don't know what to do..." "WHAT THE FUCK?! That's fucking hilarious! What are you a toddler?! Where are you?" "About an hour and 15 mins from home." "Oh my God! Well, you can either go in the shop and get some trousers or drive home..." At this point, she's still taking the piss out of me but I'm quickly distracted my an all too suddenly familiar feeling in my stomach... Round two. "Oh no, there's more coming out!" "What the fuck, are you actually shitting yourself right now?!" "Urgh...its disgusting. I can't stop it! " Now round one was just a preview, round two was the full show. It was pure liquid shit gushing out of my ass and there was nothing I could do to stem the flow. I end up just making weird noises and have lost off ability to communicate. Imagine the worst shit you've ever had but you're sitting down in a car seat whilst doing it and your wife is listening via the hands free. "Oh no, it's breached the waistband!" Up until this point, everything had been contained in my boxers but I suddenly felt wetness creeping up my lower back and the awful smell getting stronger. If you've ever had a kid, remember those awful shits that come out the top of their nappy and all up their back? Well, that is happening to me... a 37 year old man, sitting in a company car, over an hour from home. Eventually the torrent subsides and I have no words for how I feel. I am literally sitting with my boxers full of liquid shit which has overflowed up my back. I feel exhausted and wet. I swear the entire two litres of apple juice is now in my pants. "I'm coming home, I'm literally covered in shit." *retching noises from wife* "You're repulsive. Give me a call when you're 10 mins from home". I start the most uncomfortable drive I've ever experienced. Every gear change was creating a ripple effect with the shitty liquid. Every time I would accelerate or brake, the liquid would slosh backwards and forwards. The next issue was letting my boss know that I was going to be home early so wouldn't be able to complete my calls for the day. But what could I say?! I've just shit myself in an explosive way whilst sitting in your company car?! I say that I've been ill and am heading home. Didn't elaborate any further and he said to speak to him tomorrow morning and let him know how I was then. So I drive home, getting cold as the previously body temperature liquid was getting cooler. I call my wife when 10 mins from home and she says she's going to wait in the back garden until I've sorted myself out and she put down a bin bag in the hallway for me to stand on and strip off. I pull up outside the house and come across my latest problem...standing up. Despite 'the incident' occurring over an hour ago, there was still a lot of wetness down there and I knew that as soon as I stood up, gravity would take over. I slip off my shoes and leave them in the car, take a deep breath and go for it. As I stand up, I can feel the wetness trickling down my legs. Within seconds it's below my knees and I'm still a few steps from the front door. By the time I get there, there are drips coming out the bottom on my trouser legs, leaving a shitty bread crumb trail up my garden path. I get in the house, step on the bin bag in the hallway and close the front door behind me. You can look through my house and see the back garden from the hallway and I see my wife staring at me with her hands over her mouth is disgust. She immediately starts retching and runs off down the garden. I start to get undressed, trousers first and it is not a pretty sight. I put my boxers and trousers in the other waiting bin bag. There is no way they're getting salvaged. Next comes my top. What I had forgotten at this point was the waistband breach and the fact that my lower back was also covered. As I take my top off, I feel a wet smear going up my back and it dawns on me, there is shit on the bottom of my top and I'm not spreading it all over myself. Already in too deep, I take the top over my head and end up smearing more shit in my hair. Now naked in the hall way and literally covered from head to toe, I start using the supplied pack of baby wipes to get the worst off. I then follow the trail of bin bags up the stairs to the bathroom to shower. I have the hottest, longest shower I've ever had. I was in there for a good half hour. The initial 5 minutes was probably the worst as all the shit was accumulating in the shower tray leaving me standing in a shitty water puddle. I even used bleach to clean myself. Eventually I felt clean enough so got dressed. I went downstairs and was met with the absolute carnage I had left the hall way in. The most horrendous smell, but with a small hint of apple, and traces of shit everywhere. My wife stayed out in the garden for the next half hour whilst I sorted it out (I don't blame her, I would have done the same) before she finally came back in the house and sprayed a whole can of air freshener. She stood looking at me, a shocked look on her face and just said... "What the actual fuck?!" I had no real explanation, I just didn't make it to the toilet in time. She asked me if I felt ill, I felt fine. She asked me what I'd had to eat and drink that day. I said I'd had nothing out of the ordinary apart from an apple juice. When I told her how much I'd drank, she just burst out laughing. "You basically drank two litres of laxative!" She then explained to me how apple juice contains high levels of frustose and should only be drunk in small quantities, hence why it is sold in smaller bottles than Coke etc. I did not know this! I then remembered the car. I had yet to see the state of this. I went out armed with a bucket of warm soapy water, bin bags, wipes and rubber gloves. The smell when opening the car door was like nothing I'd ever experienced and immediately made me retch, but I knew what had to be done. I won't go in to too much detail, but I was out there about 45 minutes and it wasn't pleasent. All of this happened 3 days ago. I'm currently having to sit on a bin bag in my car and there is still a lingering shitty, slightly apple scented smell. Any advice of cleaning car upholstery would be much appreciated! My wife has said that this is going to take her a while to get over this! TLDR - Drank two litres of apple juice in 10 minutes. Didn't know this would have a laxative effect. Explosively shit myself sitting in my company car whilst my wife listened on via the phone. Had to drive an hour home covered head to toe in shit. submitted by /u/Throwaway1984-UK to r/tifu [link] [comments]

Has anyone tried Gloves in a Bottle?
Looking for a hand cream to work against the cold winds, and saw Gloves in a Bottle on Amazon? Thoughts? or any recommendations for something similar? I have eczema on my hands and typically rely on Vaseline. submitted by /u/Comprehensive-Jury88 to r/CanSkincare [link] [comments]

Florida man and his two friends rob a drug store of $320,000 in pills, take precautions like wearing surgical gloves so they don’t leave prints, but toss empty pill bottles out the window of their getaway car, which the cops follow like bread crumbs to their front door

Got pulled over. I keep a pill bottle with all my various prescriptions in one bottle because i have a lot of medical issues. Cop sees prescription container in glove box, makes me give it to him and now am being charged? Help!
(CO) As the title states, I was recently pulled over for a broken headlight. I have a lot of medical issues so Im prescribed xanax, adderall, mirtazapine, propranolol, and a whole bunch of other stuff to keep me in check. I keep all these pills in one container for convenience instead of carrying 10+ bottles everywhere i go. When I was getting my registration out of my glove box the cop saw my prescription bottle and makes me hand it to him. He looks inside and sees all kinds of various pills in there. He confiscates it and i explain my condition and situation. He isnt buying it, thinking im pedaling drugs. I get tickets and I have a court date? Their all mine and prescribed to me! The doses have changed over the years and some are old prescriptions but all mine none the less. Did i do something illegal? What do i do?? submitted by /u/pillboy92 to r/legaladvice [link] [comments]
