> $30 grocery list for 1 person for 1 week
Location: Michigan I will soon have to budget for groceries much tighter than I have before. I wanted to see what a typical week of groceries may look for me soon, and I tried to stay under $30. The plan with the whole chicken is to use the meat for 3 meals, save the rest of the meat, boil the bones for broth and make chicken and rice soup with some veggies. The soup should last 4-5 meals. The potatoes will likely last longer than a week. Possibly stretching into 2 weeks. Eggs and toast for breakfast with a banana. Rice and veggies, ramen and veggies. Ham and cheese sandwiches. No milk. I only drink oat milk which is fairly expensive and will likely be budgeted for once monthly rather than weekly. submitted by /u/mercyinreach to r/povertyfinance [link] [comments]

<$50 GROCERY LIST for 2 for 1 week
I have commented before on posts about how I keep our groceries under $200 for the month and get downvoted and disbelief. This list is for 3 meals a day. I took the time to put together a list of what I usually buy at HEB, but at Walmart which is more national to the US. I will also put meal ideas at the end. For reference, we are both 35. I am very active lifting weights and running most days of the week, my partner is a big guy at over 6' tall and 260 pounds. So its not like we are starving ourselves on this, we both need a lot of calories. We have been mostly sticking to this list for over 15 years. This list also includes "extras" like berries and beef. If you cut those out you can get your weekly bill down even lower. If you get tired of carrots you can also swap for canned green beans, corn, asparagus, ect. No, there is nothing processed but we enjoy cooking and home-cooked meals. No, we dont buy any juice or sodas as they are expensive for mostly empty calories. Note, you will also likely not use all the dry rice, beans, or potatoes so those can carry over to the next week. Breakfast: any combination of toast, eggs, yogurt, fresh fruit. Lunch: either leftovers from night before or a sandwich with homemade potato wedge fries Dinner: here is where it varies. Based on my list, we make any of the following; *any protein means beef, chicken, or ground turkey Any protein enchiladas, rice and beans. Any protein tacos, rice and beans. Any protein and rice casserole with carrots/zucchini/potatoes Baked chicken quarters with sauteed carrots and spinach Any protein spaghetti with zucchini in the sauce, garlic bread Ground turkey or beef patties with a veg on the side and rice Fried rice with any protein plus egg, veg Protein, rice, beans, potatoes for chili or soup Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, veggie Chalupas with refried beans, mexican rice on side I also save all the veggie and chicken scraps/bones to make broth to freeze for the next week to use in place of water. Makes for more nutrients and flavor. I also have a lot of spices on hand so we can mix things up. If this helps even 1 person, I will count this as a success. I accidentally sent my grocery list instead of my cover letter. Got a phone screen.
Spent 3 hours tailoring a cover letter for a Marketing Manager role. Thoughtful, personalized, referenced their mission statement and everything. Hit send. Felt great. Two minutes later I'm reading my sent folder and I'm staring at: "— eggs x12, oat milk (not the cheap one), chicken thighs, resume paper??" I sent my Notes app grocery list. The entire thing. Including the question mark after "resume paper" because apparently even my grocery list was having an existential crisis. I sent a frantic follow-up with the actual letter, apologized, explained I was juggling multiple applications. They called me the next morning. The recruiter opened with: "So… did you get the oat milk?" Didn't get the job. But honestly? Best interview of my life. The bar for standing out is on the floor, guys. What does your grocery list look like?
I watched a lady on Facebook showing groceries she bought. For context, she lives in a first world country. I live in a third world country in Africa. I noticed most of what she was calling groceries are boxed foods like pizza, Mac n cheese etc. she only bought a bit of chicken and ground beef. The rest of the groceries included ketchup, juice, salad mix, oil etc. She mentioned she went all out on this particular grocery shopping spree. Where I live, chickens are straight from farms, beef is sold out daily from abattoirs and fish is fresh from the source. So when it comes to grocery shopping, the majority of the items will include a lot of fish, chicken, beef, vegetables, sausages etc. I live in a well established city btw. I am curious if most people don't cook in first world countries and prefer to eat out instead hence the little ingredients the lady bought. I am curious to know what your grocery list looks like. submitted by /u/sweetpie93 to r/CasualConversation [link] [comments]

I’m Fat and I need help on a healthy simple grocery list.
6’2 clocking in at 350lbs. I’m at the point I need to reach out for help, I am capable of eating healthy foods and cooking. I am looking for someone to help me with a grocery list. I feel Ike I either order to little or to much and just the wrong things. I have cleaned my fridge and planning to go to the grocery store 1st thing in the morning. Here is the important info. - $150 budget but can spend up to $200 - I’m looking for a grocery list that I can keep using and won’t have to change up much. -I use aldis/walmart+/amazon/Trader Joe’s. - I own a instant pot/air fryer/microwave/stove - have lil knowledge on how keto exactly works but willing to get educated. - I am also planning on mixing intermittent fasting with this. I find myself making the worst diet decisions when I’m hungry and starting to think just having something ready would help, he’ll even just knowing I have something prepped when I’m out driving will stop me from just pulling thru a drive thru knowing I have a home cooked meal or quick snacks. Can someone help create me a list that I can use to help get myself on track, doesn’t need to be super accurate, but that would be a plus. Edit: thanks for everyone who pitched in with the info. I didn’t know you can even eat half the stuff that’s being mentioned on keto in the comments. I’m gonna use this as a stepping stone. I appreciate all the information! submitted by /u/HandOverFist112 to r/keto [link] [comments]

Grocery list
Hi. I’m a cookbook author who has worked with organizations like Meals on Wheels. If funds are low I put together a grocery list for you. Things to note: -the list assumes you have access to a kitchen -the list is under $25 at Walmart but if you get rice, potatoes, pasta, sauce, butter etc. at a pantry the price goes down significantly -bananas, potatoes, and carrots are an excellent source of nutrients -pancakes can be topped with anything you like -I tried to keep it mostly shelf stable (crackers versus bread) -the list includes ingredients for big stretch meals (homemade soups) and instant items when you’re just too overwhelmed. submitted by /u/RiotGrrrlNY to r/povertyfinance [link] [comments]

Grocery List and Dinner List that saved me money
This was an idea that has helped simplify grocery shopping and meal cooking and saved money. Creating a meal plan just never worked for me. By the time I got part way thru the week I either lost interest in the meals or things got too busy. So what I did was make a master grocery list of items we used most often and all the possible meals I could make. Our lunches are generally leftovers or a sandwich. This also helped get others in the house to cook as I keep a list of possible meals on the fridge. The only things not on the list are my baking supplies (very basic-flour, sugar etc) and spices because I very seldom buy them so I just write them in. I keep the grocery list on the fridge and circle what we need as we run out of it. So far, it’s reduced our budget by about a 1/3. submitted by /u/Past_Oil_6592 to r/Frugal [link] [comments]

I took the same grocery list to 17 different stores in MA to figure out which one actually had the best prices. Here are the results, ranked with funny commentary.
Investigation included: Wegmans, Shaws, Stop & Shop, Price Rite, Market 32, Roche Bros, Seabra, Market Basket, The Fresh Market, Aldi, Whole Foods, Target, Trader Joe’s, CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, and Dollar General. I’m a personal finance writer living in MA. All I want is to help people save a little money during these hard times. I’ve noticed that the prices at “cheap” grocery stores have crept up and up. So I’ve always wondered: which grocery stores are ACTUALLY cheap? I took three days to do all the legwork; then I compiled it all together and analyzed the differences. If you shop anywhere between Worcester and Natick, you should see your store represented. It turned into a whole thing—but if it helps even one person, I’m happy! Feel free to shoot me questions. And stay safe out there. My Grocery Master List
My (super supportive) partner does most of our grocery shopping and she asked me to make a list of foods that would nice to have around. This is after some well-intentioned fumbles - like trying to get me gluten-free products that were still high carb. Obviously this isn't to buy every shopping trip, but she has a good idea of what we are low on/go through quickly and keeps an eye on sales etc. to cycle through the rest. It's tailored to my own tastes, so there are a few items I didn't include (like, uh pork rinds) that might be on your list, but this a good place to start. (In the original I have my faves in red) I tried to break it up into categories for ease of shopping as well as an explanation of why that food is good for this WOE. Protein: *Bacon *Deli meats - Ham, chicken and turkey, Roast beef, Salami *Sausages - breakfast and spicy. *Eggs *Frozen chicken *ground beef *Roasts, steaks, chops. *Shrimp *Salmon Veggies: *romaine or other lettuce - butter, spring mix, etc. *fresh spinach *fresh or frozen cauliflower *fresh or frozen broccoli *Frozen green beans *Asparagus *Pico de Gallo ing - (red)onion, cilantro, tomato, lime *celery *mushrooms *brussel sprouts Dairy Fats: *Butter *Heavy Cream *Cheese - Mozzarella, Cheddar, Kerry Gold, Gouda, Brie, feta, Parmesan (un-shredded usually saves a few carbs) *Cream cheese *Mayonnaise *Sour Cream Other Fats: *Nuts- Almonds, macadamia, and pecans especially *Coconut oil *Olive Oil *Avocados Treats/Easy Meals: *Berries - Fresh or Frozen *Pre-cooked meats - pulled pork, carnitas *Bacon Crumbles *Hamburger Patties *Rotisserie Chicken *Seltzer water - flavored? La Croix? *Marinara Sauce *Frozen Meatballs *Artichoke hearts *Pickles *Lemon *low carb dips - white queso with green chiles? spinach artichoke? *low carb prepared foods - caramelize onion and chicken patties? *canned fish and chicken *low carb prepared soups - cheddar-broocoli? Fiber: *Chia seeds *flax *Sunflower seeds Spices: *Garlic powder *Onion powder Other: *RoTel *Diced tomatoes *Tomato paste *stock or bullion *Almond milk *Salsa *Almond Flour *Coconut Flour *Dawn *Sponges *Salad Dressing: Creamy Ceasar, Green Goddess *Sauerkraut *KimChi submitted by /u/AuroraLuz to r/keto [link] [comments]
