I’m tired of creepy men at the gym
EDIT: I am sooooo appreciative of everyone's nice words!! It was super motivating to hear all of your stories and how you chose to overcome them. I won't let this get me down. I'll be sure to stand up for myself and report any creepy interactions to staff to help keep other women at the gym safe. Warning long rant ahead. Cheese pizza. I work out at my local planet fitness and I have never had too many issues. My biggest complaint about the gym are the men. Which I’m sure many women on here can agree with. I have dealt with men who have staring problems, men who give me unsolicited advice, and men who try to talk to me in the middle of my workouts. I am still quite new to the gym scene and have been going since last January so the amount of creepy interactions I have had since starting is quite baffling to me. Today was the worst encounter I have ever had. I was working out on one machine and there were two men working out together and taking turns on the machine behind me. I have seen the two of them together at the gym multiple times. They are older, at least in their 50s, and are quite jacked. I finished my workout on the machine and went to the sanitation area to get the stuff I need to clean my machine. On my way back one of the men stop me and asks for my name while introducing himself and his friend, extending his hand for a handshake. I reciprocate the action and give him my name without much thought. He then tells me he and his buddy have seen me at the gym a few times now. I acknowledge that I have see them before too. He proceeds to tell me that I have an amazing shape and he can tell that I workout a lot. He proceeds to compliment my body a few more times. I awkwardly say thank you as I am kind of frozen and have never really dealt with a situation like this before. He proceeds to ask how old I am. At this point I should’ve left, but I couldn’t bring myself to. I tell him my age and he acts shocked and what he said is what really disgusted me. He goes “my friend thought you were 18. You look great for your age.” This made me realize the two of them were talking about me sitting directly behind me while I was working out. I tried to move on to the stair master but I caught them looking at me from time to time so I didn’t stay for much longer. I am on the autism spectrum and it takes a while for me to fully process the situation, understand the impact of it, and asses how I felt about it. A few hours after I got home I burst into tears because I felt so disgusted with myself and how they made me feel about my body. I have been crying on and off since. I have never felt this kind of gross feeling before. I am quite scared to go back since I see the two of them there frequently enough. I’m even considering switching gyms but I’m aware no matter where I go there will be men that make me uncomfortable and it sucks. I want to be able to exist in my body without being stared at and making me feel self conscious. submitted by /u/Waste-Cockroach8284 to r/GirlDinnerDiaries [link] [comments]

Me [34 M] with my wife [30 F], found somewhat damning messages on her phone. Don't want to believe
This is a repost sub. I’m not the Original OP (OOP) OOP: u/awayaway24601 Published on: r/relationships Story is: CONCLUDED Story timeline Main Post: August 18, 2015 Final Update: August 20, 2015 Main Post August 18, 2015 Me [34 M] with my wife [30 F], found somewhat damning messages on her phone. Don't want to believe So to preface this I'll say that my wife has never before given me reason to suspect her. She's pretty open with her stuff, laptop and phone laying around and what not. That being said... My wife was in the other room doing something, I don't even remember what, and her phone buzzed on the couch. No biggie, she texts and chats a lot so this happens fairly often. However when I looked over at the phone the message on the display was from "Jeff," and it said "I told you I was going to brutalize you." Seeing that I immediately picked up the phone and checked the message. Sorry, but I don't feel guilty. I feel like that was a just cause, especially since I don't know of any close friends named Jeff. There were only a few messages. One from about a month ago that went: Her: Hey, this is [name], just texting so you have my number, see you tomorrow! Him: Cool thanks, see you then! One from a couple weeks ago that said: Her: Hey I'm going to be a little late, there's a road block down the street. Prob just a few minutes Him: Ok And then the one from tonight: Her: How am I supposed to drive my car now JEFF?? Him: I told you I was going to brutalize you Seriously, I feel sick. I don't want to believe this is what it looks like. She has never made me question my trust in her but she has also never mentioned anyone named Jeff. And she's a talker. Now I'm starting to second guess everything I thought was normal. She comes home late, but she works long hours and is salaried in a demanding job so she never really knows exactly when she'll be home. Sometimes she is quite late but she's also very career driven. She also often showers when she gets home, but she has a physical job that she gets sweaty at and I know she hates showering in the morning. But now I can't get it out of my head that she's covering something up! I don't know what to do...should I snoop more?? She doesn't really password anything and her facebook is open all the time so it wouldn't be very difficult....it just doesn't seem like the right thing to do though. Do I confront her? I don't have anything solid and if she's lying about this so easily, she might just make something else up. Gah! I don't know. I hate this feeling. Help me! tl;dr: Wife has suspicious messages on phone. I feel ill. COMMENTS CohibasAndScotch Okay, the way things go on this sub I'm guessing she's cheating. HOWEVER, something that instantly came to mind was a workout. Does she have a personal trainer? It all adds up if you think about it like that. Texts him that she's gonna be late. Can't drive cuz she's week limbed. "How am I supposed to drive" isn't something a lot of women say after getting banged hard. How am I supposed to walk/sit down, sure. Also, she didn't delete the old texts entirely which seems to indicate she's not hiding anything. If she was being shady, you wouldn't have messages dating weeks back. Something to consider before you blow her up with accusations. OOP There were so few texts over a long period of time so I'm wondering if she WAS deleting them, and only left the ones that looked innocuous CohibasAndScotch Right but if she's only texting him when she's gonna be late or when she's sore from a workout, there isn't anything to delete. Plus, if she's cheating I can't believe she just leaves her phone around without a passcode. That's like cheating 101. I'm not saying I think she's not cheating. I'm saying you have to consider alternatives before you fire away. OOP You're right FilchsCat Go check your phone bill. Not sure about your carrier, but for Verizon at least, you can see a record of all the numbers that have been texted, and when. I'm assuming you have a shared account. OOP We do not, actually. She's on a plan with her two brothers and I'm on a pay-as-you-go PM_ME_PUSSY_PICS_PLZ So, does she go to the gym or not? OOP She has a gym at work but I don't think she goes there. She says it sucks briefaspossible Does she have a personal trainer? OOP No. Well not as far as I know. She's very cheap and she knows a lot already and has a free gym at her work. The plan is to ask her tonight when we're both home. I will update then. Final Update - after 2 days August 20, 2015 UPDATE Me [34 M] with my wife [30 F], found somewhat damning messages on her phone. Don't want to believe Well, it looks like many of you were right. She has a personal trainer. Yes, thankfully, it actually WAS a personal trainer. I'm so relieved and you guys are way smarter than me. She came home from work last night and I told her I needed to ask her something, could we sit down and talk. She looked worried but agreed right away and asked me what was wrong. I told her I had read her message and asked her to please explain it to me. Comprehension washed over her face and then a look of pity. She said she had joined the gym down the street because her work gym is terrible, and she signed up for a personal trainer because they were having a deal and she wanted to be held accountable. She showed me her sign up sheets and keycard and even pulled up the gym website and showed me her little calendar spots for her training sessions with her personal trainer, whose name is of course Jeff. She apologized profusely and said she didn't mean to scare me. I asked her why she hadn't said anything and she said it was because she wanted to make some progress first, which honestly, is very much like her. When she's trying to do a project she does not like to draw attention to it until it's done. I think that "ta-da" moment motivates her. So everything is ok because I asked her what was up. I would've updated last night but we went out with friends. tl;dr: You guys were right THANK GOD COMMENTS invaderxbody Just glad I was right in my comment on your original......now she will wonder why your going through her phone but that will be another post;) OOP I told her I saw the alert and it made me want to look and she understood. I don't think that wI'll be an issue. ProjectDirectory (downvoted) I think there is still some room to be concerned here. She really should have felt comfortable telling you about the trainer earlier. OOP I don't think it's an issue honestly. She wanted to wait until she made some progress. I can totally see her waiting until I said something and then excitedly telling me about the trainer. This is a repost sub. I’m not the Original OP (OOP) Please remember to follow the subreddit rules, especially the ones about brigading. Interviewing women at my gym
I’m working on a project where I interview the women at my gym (for Instagram). My goal is to showcase the diverse range of backgrounds, skill levels, and motivations in our community. I also want it to be something that inspires more women to take the leap and join a combat sport. My coach and I have a few questions already but I was hoping to get a few more ideas. What topics/questions would you find most interesting or insightful? And what do you think would be most encouraging for women to hear? Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/b0nethug_ to r/WomenInMuayThai [link] [comments]

Newborn baby abandoned by their parents. 💔🥹
In a heart-wrenching incident in urban Patna, a five-day-old baby girl was discovered abandoned in a plastic bag hanging from the gate of a local gym in Rajiv Nagar on November 8. The gym owner, Saurav Suman, heard cries upon opening at 6 AM and found the infant, who had spent the night exposed to mosquitoes, leaving her face swollen. Police suspect gender bias as the motive, though the family remains unidentified amid a lack of CCTV footage. The child is stable and under care, with Suman expressing intent to adopt her legally, calling her an "angel." This tragedy unfolds in Bihar, where women recently shattered voting records, highlighting persistent societal challenges. Follow @MyIndianWorld for more untold stories from India's heart. Women over 30 — How did you start being consistent with workouts & gym? I’m struggling to find my rhythm 😞
Hey everyone, I’m 31F, and honestly… I’ve been struggling to stay consistent with the gym or any kind of fitness routine. I keep thinking, this is the year I’ll finally get in my best shape — but every time, I start, go for maybe 30-45 days in a year and then somehow just stop showing up. I even took a gym subscription at the start of 2025, but I think I’ve barely used it. 😔 It feels like I’m wasting money and energy, but more than that — I feel disappointed in myself. I have thyroid issues (though it’s under control now), and I really want to feel good in my own body again. Ever since I turned 30, I’ve started noticing changes — like I’m aging faster or just not feeling as confident physically. I’m not married yet, but I do want to be fit and strong — not just to look good, but to stay healthy and have a body that’s ready for future things like pregnancy, kids, and just… living a happy, energetic life. I have to think 1000 times to wear a particular cloth, I am not that unfit. My height is 5.2 and weight is 62-64kgs but still not a good body shape. But being a working professional, I always end up prioritizing my career over my health. I even had a surgery 3–4 years back, and I think that fear also holds me back sometimes. So I really want to ask women in their 30s or beyond — how did you actually start? • How did you motivate yourself to stay consistent? • What helped you push through the lazy days? • How did you balance workouts with work life? • Did you take professional help — like a trainer or nutritionist — or did you start small on your own? • And if you’re now in your best shape, when did that change happen for you? I’d really love to hear your stories, routines, and maybe even mindset shifts that helped you stay consistent. I feel like I’m ready to commit — but I just don’t know how to stay in it long enough to see real change. submitted by /u/Optimal_Volume_5355 to r/Fitness_India [link] [comments]

My Life In the Philippines - Benefits Beyond Just Dating
If I am honest, when I first heard of this movement, it was very different from what it is now known for today. Outside this community the term has become synonymous with sex tourism, mail order brides, p4p, and incels. Especially people who never research what most passport bros actually say. They base their opinions on what tiktok/reel they saw. Early on it reminded me of more of a men's health movement, emphasizing freedom, finances, and more importantly, overall happiness. Dating was a major factor in that, but far from the only one. The data clearly shows how men in the west are increasingly finding it harder to afford rent, find partners, and feel happy. Yet, the media continues to demonize a solution that can potentially improve all three of these things at once. The truth is, Passport bros were never allowed to define themselves, their definition was given to them by the algorithm, and people fighting against largely imaginary arguments and bad actors. I need to speak about this, because I know a lot of men in the west who are struggling, I was one of them. I can't imagine how much worse my life would be if I let people shame me away from pursuing this life. Young men are getting certificates/degrees and improving their skillsets in order to work remotely overseas. As far as I am concerned, that alone is a positive influence on their lives, and I don’t exaggerate when I say every man I met who has actually broken free absolutely loves it. But if he moves overseas and starts dating there he is easily attacked and shamed, “What are you a passport bro?” Just look at how many guys say things like “I am not a passport bro, but…” and then go on to say exactly what the passport bros stood for before they got branded in this way. It seems like every time a movement comes up that is male centered and has a chance to improve western men’s lives, it gets slapped with a ‘bro’ label then gets caricatured to a point it is synonymous with bad. Crypto bros, gym bros, passport bros. We are fed the worst examples of these. I am probably bias because I have had “reputable” western news agencies spin what I say, and slander my words for my association with this movement. Even journalist I trusted like Louie Theroux seemed to change my words and what I stood for just to sell a better documentary. So I am aware I might be thinking about this ‘too deep’, but to me it really does feel that way I plan on promoting this lifestyle even through all the hate and misunderstanding. I have seen first hand all the good it can do. I saw my best friend totally change his life in under a year, and I myself was depressed and struggling in the US before thriving overseas. Finding a good woman, and benefits on dating will always be a part of the movement, because it is honestly a powerful force. Finding a partner you like is one of the strongest motivations to level up your life for both men and women and I don’t want to shame or push men away from embracing that side of this, but.. In this thread I think it would be interesting for people who have left the US to explain what improvements have you seen in your life BEYOND, the obvious dating and partner selection? The more we make this a balanced movement, the harder it is to: slander the people here, dismiss the ideas, and eventually steer a ton of people away from all the good this can do. submitted by /u/The_DigitalBromad to r/thepassportbros [link] [comments]

My friend has 6 girlfriends.
Basically I 30M have a friend let's call him Sam 33M. I've known him my whole life I consider him to truly be my brother. There's a picture of 3 year old him holding me when I was just born. Always have it at my desk. We went to the same school until college. We went to different ones but 35 minutes from eachother. We went to the same wrestling and judo gym since I was 6 and lifted together. This guy is my brother. Our parents met through work my mom and dad were both doctors were his dad was a janitor. He's from very humble beginings his mom an Albanian immigrant and his dad a Afghan reffugee. He had a tough life very financially poor. He always had shit clothes and no shoes for gym class and just a bad start at life. Very driven tho he had the stereotypical male dream fast car, beautifull women and a big house. In college he studied electrical engineering same as his older brother. And during college he worked with his brother on his brother's start up. This dude was insanly busy. He still trained judo and wrestling and lifted weights while doing this and still got 8 hours of sleep. Poverty is a great motivator I guess. He was poor all the way through this shit. No money nothing. I don't wanna paint women in a bad picture. But at the time he really wanted a girlfriend in Highschool and college but we were in like a kind of high class Highschool. And his college was like that too. So a lot of people came from middle and upper middle class families. And he had terrible clothes and he's 6.5 and I'm 6.1 aswell as three years younger so my stuff never fit. And had no money to take girls anywhere so he never got one. This dude genuinely looks like a moviestar very handsome guy just had raggedy clothes. All this info will tie nicely into my dillema. Him and his brother finally made it when they sold their company. He got paid big time. All the way through this he was poor this was last year when he was 32 when it got sold. All his money went back into his buisness even when he finnished college till 32 he lived in his parents basemant and his brother in the attic. I was so happy for him he really deserved it. He put in a investment account and just lives of the yearly profit growth of that account. While having an engineer job earning low to mid six figures. He's balling out Finally. I remember when he had holes in his clothes. Money also didn't change him same humble good guy. Still training judo and wrestling at the same gym. The thing is the dude now has like 6 girlfriends. He was always super good looking but had no money and time. He has both now. I didn't care dude finally achieved his dreams 14 fucking years of blood sweat and tears. I met the girls they were 19,20,21,23,28 and 36. All very good looking. Three of them live with him the others had their own place. He rented quite a big house till his was finished constructing. Dude is living his dream. I was just happy for him and very proud. My girlfriend wasnt to fond of this and she started venting. About how he's using them and how they're only there for the money. And the age gaps and stuff. Thing is Sam knows and he was honest to all them from the beginning. And he is a very kind man of good character so there isnt manipulation lying or abuse. I frequently visit and meet all of em and everyone seems to be happy in this transactionel relationship. Sam said that if he met a girl earlier before the succes he wouldve commited to her. Now he just plays the field I was just here for some outside perspective. From both MEN AND WOMEN!please. Excuse my shit english Important detail I forgot they're exclusive to him. They can't have other boyfriends submitted by /u/Mother_Signal9311 to r/self [link] [comments]

AITA for wanting to leave my pregnant wife, with whom I have a child, because she does not want me to continue my diet and/or workout routine?
EDIT Here are answers to common questions I am seeing: Does my workout/diet interfere with time with my family? No, it does not. I wake up early before anyone else is awake and workout in the garage. The only time I go to the gym is on my lunch break at work. I would not be able to leave the office early if I did not workout at lunch. My meal prep happens on Sunday when the family is at church (I would not be going to church with them even if I was not meal prepping). I shop for the whole house for groceries for the week and then make a big batch of chicken thighs, big batch of chicken legs, and a big batch of chickpea salad, and then vacuum seal and put into the freezer in the garage. Do you cook for your family? Yes, I cook 100% of at home dinners for my wife and son. I make them whatever my wife wants. I will warm up my food in the microwave and eat with them. Does your wife get time to herself? Yes, my son is in daycare. That started in June. Prior to that, he was at home with my wife and did a mother's day out. Additionally, both our moms are retired and love to be with our son whenever they can, so she would regularly drop him off. Additionally, in the evenings during the week, after dinner, I am solely responsible for the kid until I go to bed at 10:30. I am also solely responsible for him on Saturday mornings. And if I am not working, I will be with our son whenever she needs/wants. Spending time with the little guy is incredibly fun for me. Do you spend time with just you and your wife? Yes, we have weekly date night on Saturday and usually do something just us on Sunday. We also spend an hour or two Monday-Friday together. Do you do chores? Yes, they include mopping, vacuuming, cleaning the bathrooms every other week, all yard-related tasks, doing any poopy/pee laundry for my son, doing all my own laundry, woring with my son to straighten up his room before bed, and maintaining my areas of the house (namely my section of the bedroom). This is a throwaway account My wife (Jen) and I went to the same college. We met at the beginning of her freshman year (my sophomore year) in Fall 2017. I was an offensive tackle on the football team, as such, I was always a large guy. Jen was a small girl with an hourglass figure who guys on campus would pretty brazenly check out whenever she went anywhere. We started dating pretty quickly and dated on and off over the next 2 1/2 years. When COVID shutdowns hit, we were living together. Jen got pregnant during the shutdowns. At that time, I was weighing about 350 lbs. I had some pretty significant back and knee problems. I decided I needed to make a change because I wanted to be an active and involved father. At first, Jen was supportive. I changed my diet (no fried food, sweets, or soft drinks). I increased my workout routine. The weight pretty quickly started coming off. By the time my son was born in early 2021, I was down to 310 (about the weight I was when Jen and I started dating). We got married in the Summer of 2021. I decided I wanted to keep losing weight. I was motivated, feeling great, and wanted to get to about 200-210. Jen became less supportive, but she was not hostile towards my goal. I did my best to structure my workout routine to decrease the amount of time I was away from home. I started going to the gym during my lunch breaks from work and made a little area in the garage for me to do my cardio in the morning. I made all of my own meals. Outside of her concerns about my weight loss, our marriage seemed good. I was in individual counseling and had suggested couples counseling, but Jen was not open to the idea. We were both enjoying our little family life with our son. We decided to try for a second child. Jen is currently six months pregnant. Since getting pregnant, Jen has become very hostile towards my diet and workout routine. It has mostly consisted of digs and passive-aggressive remarks about my working out and about my body. About two months ago was her 25th birthday. We got dressed up and went out to a nice dinner. The evening seemed to be going well until she went to the bathroom. When she came back, her demeanor had changed completely (I recently learned she had overheard some women in the bathroom commenting on how "cute" I was). Her overt hostility towards me working out has increased dramatically. The thing that is making me leave is that there is a fridge in the garage where I store my pre-made meals. I will make meals for two weeks, store/freeze them there, defrost, and then warm them up for meal time. I had just done two weeks' worth of meals, and she threw out the meals. I told her I was disgusted and done. This happened about six weeks ago. She has since come to me and tried to offer an explanation. Except that her explanation has made it worse. She is jealous because she used to get all this attention from other men, while I got no attention from other women and now, I get attention from other women and she gets no attention from other men. I asked her why she would even want attention from other men, and she could not explain it beyond, "it makes her feel good." I asked her how she would feel if I told her that I workout because I wanted attention from other women? She said she would assume I was cheating. She said she is willing to do counseling now. She had repeatedly tried to initiate sex and I have blocked those advances. AITA because I want to leave? submitted by /u/PictureDry6904 to r/AITAH [link] [comments]

I'm so tired of "ohhhh I'm over 30 and therefore I'm falling apart" jokes
Edit: Y'all... This post has literally made me feel more supported about getting fit than I ever have before. I posted to vent and hopefully hear some stories and you all went way above that. Thank you so much for sharing your stories, challenges, and encouragement. A few people seemed upset by my attitude and I'm genuinely sorry if it felt like a personal attack. My frustration isn't with any individual, it's with a common social narrative. How I feel about this issue is also largely influenced by how I feel about myself, too, which I alluded to. Basically, if you're any age and in pain or unable to reach the level of fitness you want, just know that I'm not criticising YOU, no matter what your reasons are. I'm criticising a social norm that's common in my circles. But mostly... Just thank you all, so much. I took a long walk today, even got my 70 y.o. mom out with me for a bit, and then did some gardening. This really may be a shift for me. Look, I'm not in denial about aging. I know that aches and pains set in and things start popping and working differently. But I'm just so exhausted by women around me acting like 30 is a wall they've hit that explains every ache and pain. Like, I dunno Sarah, maybe the 10 hours a day you sit on your butt contributes to your lack of stamina??? I say that as someone who sits on my butt for 10+ hours a day. Sedentary job, sedentary hobbies, autoimmune disease and a grab bag of other health issues (none of which waited until I was 30 to pop up). I guess I'm just acutely aware that there's so much more I could be doing to feel better physically, even small things, and hearing my friends insist that health is a crapshoot at "our age" makes me feel... hopeless? Frustrated? Mad at myself for fitting that stereotype? Most recently I was complaining to one of my best friends about how so many romantasy heroines are practically just out of high school. (I'll spare this sub that soapbox of mine.) And she sent me a tiktok about how they're all young because our knees hurt too much after 30, basically. It was supposed to be funny. I'm sure it is to a lot of people. But to me it's just sad. I don't feel like this is the age to throw in the towel on health. I struggle a lot to make healthy decisions. Chronic illness sucks. My gym membership sits unused. Working out is hard and I get winded and blah blah blah. But damn if people my age INSISTING we can't be physically fit and healthy isn't a motivator. Makes me want to go prove them wrong and just be silently smug every time it comes up. Is that petty? Probably. But I guess it's better than continuing to be an example of a 30-something who moves like she's 60. Anyone here go from sedentary and poor health after 30 to feeling better than you ever did in your 20s? Cause I'm hoping that's about to be me 💪 submitted by /u/kisbic to r/xxfitness [link] [comments]

The truth behind gym bros "motivation"
If you've ever seen 1 of those gym tanks at the gym and thought "wow, I wish I could be as disciplined as him, I wonder what his motivation is, how does he get himself to work so hard" I'm here to tell you the secret. He's going to bullshit to you and tell you he's a hustler, he turns up, and goes hard or goes home but do you want to know the real reason behind why these gym bros keep turning up? It's because they love the gym. They enjoy it. It's leisure to them, it's not a hustle to be there. Infact if you got the biggest guys in the gym and told them they couldn't work out for a month they'll be in a state of anguish by day 3. Discipline is when you force yourself to do something you DONT want to do, for the great or good. These high performing gym bros want to be there, there's no forcing, infact they have to force themselves to take a rest day. Its like the highlight of their week and the fibre of their being. You open their socials their reels are flooded with gym advise. Their entire social life is at the gym. That's the secret to great fitness. It's learning to enjoy it. The people who are performing the best are the people who love it the most. Non of the big guys are motivated by a hate for women, or their bodies or sparta fighting demons or whatever bullshit theyre peddling on the internet. The gym is a playground of adults and they're motivated by their competitive nature and the fact they love exercise. And I know what you're thinking "how do I get like them if I don't love exercise". Find exercises that you enjoy or you can atleast tolerate even if its not optimal for your aesthetic goals because what you can do consistently will give more optimal results then an "optimal programme" you hate so much that can barely stick to it. You need a gateway drug into exercise. Once you've fallen in love with some kind of movement it's not that big of a jump to move onto more optimum programmes for physical results. Talk to people. We are social creatures and that little 2 minute conversation can really help elevate your gym experience. It also helps you humanise those around you and makes the gym less of a hostile place, the mind only fears the unknown. Buy cute gym cloths. Get the matching Stanley cup.Join weird classes, I recently saw a class where they do yoga with goats. Make a gym playlist. Work towards making your expierence at the gym pleasurable. submitted by /u/ENTPoncrackenergy to r/selfimprovement [link] [comments]

How can I stay motivated at the gym when my only motivation is to be more attractive?
So I'm (M21) a pretty scrawny guy and my main physical routine that I've been doing for years has been running, I haven't had a relationship in years so I'm just trying to maximize my attractiveness. One way of course being working out and just getting muscle. But I don't like to workout, and not bc it's hard or whatever, I just don't get that stress relief or feeling strong and manly bc I get all that from running. Having muscle will look cool but I don't know if ima love it. For my motivation to essentially be "operation get women" it seems so demotivating. I also feel like once I get a relationship I'll just drop working out entirely bc I reached my goal and there wouldn't a reason to go to the gym anymore submitted by /u/Bahbahbro to r/AskMen [link] [comments]

My (30f) husband (30m) says he has to choose porn over me because I need to lose 20lbs. How can I pick myself up again?
I feel so crushed by his statement that I can barely move. We’ve been together for 3 years and I have only ever fluctuated 5lbs. Prior to meeting him, I had gone from obese to fit and was so proud of myself. I’d been so proud that I was able to keep it off for all these years too! I go to the gym everyday and eat right. It breaks my heart to know that he has to give his sexual energy to other women instead of me because I’m not attractive enough. What’s going to happen if I get pregnant or lose a limb? Will he use this as an excuse to seek other women? I’m trying to get the motivation to get up and continue working on myself etc..but I feel so awful. Can someone give me a pep talk? Edit: Thank you guys sooooo much for your support!!! I’m overwhelmed by the volume of kind and thoughtful replies and am still working on catching up with you all! You did give me a little pep in my step, just knowing my feelings about this are valid and I’m not overreacting. I am a bit isolated, so just having any support at all means more than I can express here! THANK YOU for helping me open my eyes! Now I just have to figure out how to navigate this…ugh so overwhelming. For those that keep asking: I am 5’0 and weigh 117. When we met, I was 112. My highest weight was 165, but I’ve been under 117 for the last 6 years with no looking back. It is so important to me to stay attractive to him and take care of myself. I just thought I was crushing it all this time lol so it was shocking and heartbreaking to hear. I can’t unhear it and I have to wake up in this body every morning, ugh. Anyway, just trying to make sure I get a big THANK YOU out, as it might take me a minute to get to all of your kind messages! Would you prefer to go to a men-only gym? What would be your motivation for or against such segregation?
I've read an article about many Gen-Z people favoring gender segregation in gyms. https://www.newsweek.com/gen-z-want-segregated-gyms-1890676 But fitness studios are only opening female only gyms, this is supposed to be safer for women. There is no such thing yet as gyms only for men. I wonder, would it be profitable to open such a gym? Men can also feel safer and there will be less distractions. submitted by /u/WanabeInflatable to r/AskMen [link] [comments]

My 21f boyfriend 24m told me that I'll "deserve it" if I go out in a revealing outfit.
I am NOT the Original Poster. That is u/throwracat25. She posted in r/TwoHotTakes. Trigger Warning: domestic violence Mood Spoiler: frustrating but OOP makes the right decision Original Post: July 23, 2023 Me and my boyfriend James fake name have been dating for around 3 years. He's usually an incredible boyfriend. The other night I dressed up to join my friends at a party hosted by our mutual friend whom we recently befriended. When James saw my outfit, which was a skirt a little above my knees and one of those backless crop tops, he told me that I can't wear that because I'm taken and I should dress like it. We got into a fight that ended with him yelling "Don't you dare come to me crying like a bitch when you get raped. You'll deserve it!" And he slammed the door when I walked out. The party was great and a few guys did approach me but I rejected them with no problems and overall had lots of fun and an amazing time. A lot of people complimented my outfit and said that I looked sexy. Which made me a little sad inside at the end because I wanted to hear that from James my boyfriend. But maybe he was just temporarily jealous? Maybe all it was was just a phase and once he understands that I will continue to dress however I want to..... he'll accept it? Edit 1: (All edits are the same day) For those saying that I crave male attention, first of all I wore that outfit because I wanted to feel sexy and good for myself. Secondly, most or actually majority of the people who complimented me were women and gay men. Just because I choose to wear revealing outfits doesn't mean I'm doing it for male attention. Not everything that we women do revolves around men. Also, I'd like to add, James has shown similar bouts of jealousy over the years, but they've all been temporary in the sense that they would fade away. He has never called me a bitch before though and never said anything even close as cruel as what he said that night. I am contemplating on breaking up with him, but it's really hard for me because 3 years is a lot. Edit 2: I feel like I need to add another edit. I've dressed up in sexy outfits for years, including when my boyfriend met me. It was one of the things that attracted him to me. What I find funny, based on the comments saying that I shouldn't dress like a slut and I should respect my boyfriend, if a woman told her boyfriend or husband that he should stop wearing his hair a certain way or stop wearing attractive clothing that will make him look hot to other women, she would be controlling, no? Shouldn't a good partner trust their partner to be faithful? My boyfriend has been wearing whatever he wants, which includes working out half naked at the gym and also wearing "revealing" clothes for a man while revealing comments from other women and have I ever once told him "You know what. You must stop being half naked and put on a wool sweater because I find it disrespectful"? NO. Edit 3: Okay, another thing I need to clarify. The mutual friend was mutual to me and my friend group, not to me and my boyfriend. I should have made that clear. Edit 4: Okay, hopefully this will be my last edit. A man has every right to want a partner who dresses "classy". However, he can choose a partner who ALREADY dresses in classy clothing all the time such as Ralph Lauren and Banana Republic, but I'm pretty sure that even that type of woman will still wear a sexy backless Versace dress from time to time. What a man shouldn't do is get a woman and force her to change the way she dresses. What do they say? "A man will pursue a beautiful woman and put her in a cage". And while I'm writing this, I'm coming to the realization that maybe I shouldn't spend more time with a man who can't accept me for who I am and the way I dress even if I already spent 3 years of my life with him. Relevant Comments: You need to get out, because this behavior will only escalate/manifest in different ways: "He has shown similar jealousy behavior over the years, like when I'm spending too much time with my friends or that I have male friends and he has also made remarks about the way I dress about a year ago but they would fade away. This was the first time he ever said those words so that's why I said that maybe it was temporary jealousy." What do you mean by "fade away?" "By that I mean he would just stop commenting, we stopped fighting, and he would become really nice and extra attentive to my needs." Why didn't you bring your boyfriend along? "Because it was a friends' night exclusively for friends?? I can't believe that I have to explain this, like, he has his guys nights at certain parties that he goes to alone and I have mine that I go to alone and we have parties to which we both go." Update Post: July 27, 2023 (4 days later) Hi guys.... I posted about 3 days ago about this. It's on my profile if anyone wants to check it out. We went out to a public place in broad daylight and I had 2 of my friends come with me and stay at a distance in case of anything. I told James that I wanted to break up with him because I was not going to be told what I can and what I can't wear and he didn't really take it well. He replied that all he asked was for me to respect him as a man. I told him "I have no problem with you working out half naked at the gyms and dressing up when YOU go to parties and events without me with YOUR friends." And he said "Well, that's different. I'm a man and you're a woman. That's how it works". I just said firmly that I didn't want to see him anymore and he became enraged and started yelling obscenities at me. Called me a "btch", a "whre", etc., Even banged the table and said that he hopes I'll know what it feels like to be actually forced to do what a man wants and that he hopes it will hurt. My friends came up to us when he started yelling and one of them (Nick) was a long time male friend and he was the one who suggested to be there when I broke up with James. He's 6'4 and 258 pounds of muscle so I felt pretty confident in my safety. He told James that he better get away from me while he can still walk and I think James was still able to realize that there was no way he could fight my friend so he just shot me a death look and left. This was a day ago and I still haven't heard from him but Nick still wants me to file for a restraining order and I don't really see the point because if he really would want to hurt me, would a piece of paper really stop him? Maybe I watched too much of 'Enough' with Jennifer Lopez, but having a restraining order won't really make me feel any more safe. Nick offered to have me stay at his place so he could be my "bodyguard", lol, and that's where I'm staying for now. And also, let me add, my feelings for Nick have always been strictly platonic and vice versa. He's like the big brother that I never had. And James and I would sometimes go to parties and events together, and sometimes I would go alone with MY friends and James would go alone with HIS friends. Edit: For those saying that Nick is just trying to "fck" or he'll make a move, not all men look at any woman as sexual things and are only friends with a woman with the hopes to be more than friends. Nick and I are completely platonic and we're more like brother and sister. It might be just a movie, but our friendship is very much like what the Black Widow and Hawkeye had. So please stop commenting "he's just trying to fck". Some men can care about a woman without being sexually or romantically attracted to her or expecting to "hit". Another edit: I might actually file for a restraining order tomorrow but I've seen some people comment that it might make things only worse because it can make James mad or that they won't approve the RO because there's not enough evidence and motive. But maybe giving it a try won't hurt? submitted by /u/LucyAriaRose to r/BestofRedditorUpdates [link] [comments]

AITA for upholding my husband to the same weight standards he holds me?
I (35F) met with my husband, Noah (35M), in college when our responsibilities were minimal except for academics. With plenty of free time outside of our studies, we bonded over our mutual love for exercising and frequently visited the gym. Three years after graduating, we tied the knot. By this time our focus shifted away from the gym, but we managed to stay relatively active. One day as newlyweds, we were looking over our professional wedding photographs & Noah complimented how stunning I looked in my wedding dress. He then expressed his desire for me to perfectly fit into said dress in the distant future, perhaps for our vow renewal ceremony in 20 years. This remark opened up a discussion about weight gain, shedding light on his expectations concerning my physique. I needed to maintain my weight as that was the version of myself he fell in love with. He said that it was unfair for a partner to significantly deviate from what initially attracted their spouse appearance-wise. He justified this by pointing out that it shouldn't be difficult for me to stay my weight since we never intended to have children (and we adhered to this decision), eliminating the possibility of pregnancy weight gain. Secondly, if I were to experience a medical condition leading to a higher BMI, once my condition was under control, I should prioritize returning to the gym to regain my previous shape. Noah has consistently upheld this mindset over time, although he now refrains from expressing it as openly. This change in his behavior came about because I reached my limit once he started to make comments about other women's weight patterns (in private. Not to their faces), like his friend's wife or a former classmate he saw on social media. As irony goes, I’ve managed to keep my wedding weight and Noah has not. He has gained considerable weight since then. A lot of it came from the pandemic. I have never directly confronted him about this issue, although I believe he would not hesitate to do so if the situation were reversed. Instead, I have tried to motivate him by suggesting we join an exercise class together or go for runs, but he rarely accepts these invitations. He often provides a variety of excuses such as work, fatigue, and other commitments or responsibilities. Lately he’s been voicing so much dissatisfaction with his weight, often mentioning how envious he is of my schedule, which allows me more time for physical activity due to working fewer hours and days than him. Since he shows little interest (or availability) in increasing his physical activity, I offered to help him achieve a calorie deficit. He agreed. Thereafter I made changes to our meals and certain eating habits. However, he constantly complains about these adjustments. Annoyed by it and possibly bubbling with resentment, today everything came to a head. I brought up my doubt that he would show me the same grace if I had gained as much weight as he did. He acted confused initially, but I pointed out all the disrespectful comments he has made over the years regarding women's weight. In response, he essentially called me an unkind person that is kicking him while he's already down. He admitted that this is the heaviest he has ever been and expressed his lack of pride in it. He accused me of not being attracted to him and said that I should know he feels depressed about the situation, so why am I throwing something like that in his face. So, AITA? submitted by /u/tastetheirony to r/AITAH [link] [comments]

AITA for telling my partner not to join the same gym as me
My girlfriend (29F) and I (33M) just moved to NYC. We’re coming from Colorado where we first began cohabitating together and now carrying that on in The Big Apple. We have a little less space now but I don’t think that bothers either of us too much. Even despite this move, my gf and I have always been open and transparent when it comes to having our own individual lives away from each other. We love each other very much but we understand that having a healthy relationship can often act as a byproduct to having a healthy individual state of mind. While we prioritize spending time together, we also hold doing things individually with high importance. So now that we’re in NYC, we both needed gym memberships. In our search I found a gym that I felt confidently would meet all my needs. I was pretty sure it was the perfect fit. She was simultaneously doing her own search but for whatever reason didn’t come across the gym that I had found and was generally underwhelmed with what she had found. She wasn’t that excited about any of them. She wanted me to tell her about the one that I had found so she could consider joining herself. So I told her the name, she looked it up, and was very interested. It checked all her boxes as well. I told her that I’d prefer to keep the gym as separate activities — a space we could each have for ourselves. Or in other words — don’t join the same gym I’m joining. I felt particularly strong about this considering we’re living in a small apartment now and I was clinging to the idea of a gym as my own personal getaway whenever needed. At first her reaction was only slightly negative. I explained why I felt this way and ultimately, she said she understood. I’ve since joined that gym and have been going regularly. But whenever I come home and she asks me, “how was it?”, I tell her “great” and then I just feel a massive amount of guilt because I know she’d like to be a member as well. AITA? EDIT: Clear consensus here that IATA. That’s fair. Although one thing I’d like to clear up — lots of people seem to think my motivation behind this is so that I can gawk, hit on, and maybe even sleep with other women at the gym in peace! Even if I were very very single, I would never invade someone’s personal space at a place like a gym. It’s a safe space where people go for mental and physical health. I would never deteriorate that environment for someone else because I think they’re attractive. Anyways, I apologized to my gf earlier today. She’s scheduled a tour of the gym for this weekend. I told her I’ll use all the referral credits I get from the gym if she signs up to go out to a nice dinner together. We’re all assholes sometimes! But this makes me feel lucky to have her. I always knew she was the actual better half. She continues to show it too. Lucky guy. submitted by /u/kimchidave to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

Strength-Based Women's Workout Plan Guide - At Home (no HIIT) & At Gym
Hi Everyone, I've never posted a question on Reddit before so my apologies if I do anything wrong in advance. I'm currently 26 years old and would like to work on incorporating exercise back into my life and losing around 15-20 lbs to reduce fat while gaining muscle. (Don't care about scale weight as long as I'm losing fat & toning up) When I was 17-19, I used to follow Lais De Leon's fitness guides for at home and at the gym, and having a structured plan (what body part to work out, which exercises to do, # sets/reps) was wonderful for me as I have ADHD and it made working out much easier for me. I also liked knowing that I was closer to the finish line and had a sense of accomplishment when completing plans/challenges. These were all strength-based and I loved that. I feel like a badass when lifting and feeling like a badass is what motivates me to work out. I recently retried one of Lais De Leon's challenges through her app but it's expensive & I felt that it was a bit too much and unrealistic for a single gym sesh. It's also been about 4 years since I've consistently worked out so I've realized that I need to start from the basics again. I've been looking around and lurking on Reddit posts but it's VERY overwhelming with the amount fitness women and people out there and guides. I've checked out a few guides based on posts from here and most are good but not exactly quite what I'm looking for. The biggest difficulty that I'm running into most is that many are HIIT-based workouts. I do not enjoy HIIT-based workouts whatsoever and I also cannot physically do them since I have a kidney disease and my kidney doc told me to avoid HIIT & Cross Fit type workouts because of the focus on a fast heartbeat and overload of high-intensity. When I attempt HIIT workouts I get light-headed, get close to passing out, and develop hives. Unrealistic to keep attempting this if I plan to stay consistent with working out, therefore am avoiding these types of workouts. What I'm looking for: A home-based fitness guide for women: I have access to my apartment gym which has dumbbells, resistance bands, and a cable machine. Strength-based workout focused and can include bodyweight. Not HIIT focused or have it as a minimum if it is in there. A gym-based fitness guide for women: When I join a gym again (In August - after I'm done w/ grad school due to cost) I would like to fully get back to lifting. Squats, DLs, bench, hip thrusts, etc. Looking for a guide to tell me which body part to focus on, which exercises, sets/reps. Low-impact cardio is perfectly fine, just no high-intensity cardio or HIIT style. Overall: SIMPLE layout/plan, tells me exactly what to do & how much, focus on strength building using a combination of weights & bodyweight, beginner-intermediate, don't care about fast gains/results, something 8-12 weeks or longer if possible (longer the better). Thank you all for your help in advance! EDIT: For others that may read this post later looking for help/new recs, I've compiled most of the answers in a manner that would've been helpful for me as a lurker :). I'll keep trying to add more as I see them. New Girl’s Schmidt was one of the most entertaining and lovable characters of the last decade
New Girl is a 20 min sitcom that hasn’t really reinvented the format but has captured millennials and pop culture in smart and often original ways. Over the years, the show has hit what in my opinion were blunders and lazy tropes that you would’ve hoped avoided. For me and most fans, what made the show were the characters and the chemistry between them. Before I talk about Schmidt, I obviously have to acknowledge the legendary Nick Miller. Widely adored and quoted, he is the winner of most fanfare from the community. It's well-earned. Jake Johnson's portrayal is perfect and Nick as a character completely subverts what is normally expected of the show's 'main crush'. Love Winston too! But what is also a perfect portrayal is Max Greenfield as Schmidt. Schmidt is your typical douchebag with motives centered around sleeping with women, 'crushing it at work' and one day meeting Kanye West to ascend the social strata (this is back in 2011, mind you.) He wears tight pants, eats zero carbs, and pays a considerable amount of his income to the disciplinary 'douche bag jar' – as ordered by his frustrated roommates. That's how he starts off, and for a while, is who he is. Schmidt grew up obese and as a result was rejected and ignored by peers in school and college. His self-esteem was further affected by the absence of his dad and the harshness of his mom. It wasn't until Schmidt lost weight and became desirable that he became conceited, materialistic and ostensibly shallow. As we follow the show and explore his character, along with his untiring pursuit of Cece (his main romantic interest), we begin to discover the story behind his evolution into becoming a worse person. It's through episodes of him helping Jess, Nick, and Winston pursue their own goals and conquer their own anxieties is when we see how much he cares about his friends. Nick alone, his bestfriend since college, is the biggest evidence that Schmidt just wants to be with the people he loves and trusts, and that's more important to him than what they wear, how they groom themselves, or whether or not they have a gym membership. Without spoiling anything, Schmidt realizes everything holding him back is what he thought he needed to become. When he was fat, the world rejected him despite having an adorable personality. He was compassionate and trusting. But when he realized the weight needed to go, he thought his personality had to change as well. How could he not? With his dad walking out on him and his colleagues making fun of him his entire life, it's very easy to be scared to be yourself. Through seven seasons of New Girl, Schmidt is ready to love himself again – enough to be okay with who he really is. Max Greenfield is perfect. To an already well-written character, he brings an adorable and geeky energy that somehow pervades the eye-rolling shallowness of Schmidt. His obsession with the minute details of everything doesn't just point to his materialism, but to his passion. His gawkiness over Cece isn't just about wanting her, but about how genuinely thinks she's the most perfect person on the planet. Max and Schmidt is a marriage that amplifies a surprisingly complex character with the quirks and sensibilities to make him relatable to anyone despite the kind of person he thinks he should be. He's every sad kid who wanted to be cool, got cool, and then flew too close to the sun because he doesn't know how to be cool. And Max is so comedically gifted that I cannot imagine Jake Johnson being paired with anyone else. I'd recommend watching New Girl just for him, but along the way you'll find other hilarious characters and an addicting chemistry. Before I go, I leave you the following: Schmidt rehearses in front of the mirror Schmidt's tires get stolen Schmidt convinces Nick to a four-way And the best of all, 'The Cookie Scene' edit: you gave me a silver i got you a silver. you gave me a silver i got you a silver! submitted by /u/EzzoMahfouz to r/television [link] [comments]

AITA for telling my fiancee to stop blaming our kids for ruining her body?
My fiancée (46F) and I (48M) used to both be fitness enthusiasts. She used to go to the gym with me all the time and we shared passions in mountain biking, CrossFit, and were competitive rowers from our college years onward. She used to take pride in the fact that she would push herself to the limit to keep up with me fitness wise. However after our 4 year old and 3 year old girls were born my fiancée began saying that using the elliptical and treadmill at the gym already constituted “ pushing herself to the limit.” She was having trouble with her “miles” of extra skin ( her words not mine) and said her “gym rat” days are over. She ended up gaining weight, had spider veins, and would say that she was now “ momma” to her kids and that I say I want a “ sexy partner” not just a “ momma” but refuse to plan a wedding. In these past 4 years, she’s bought more and more into what I saw to be very tacky “ mommy motivation” YouTube channels and online magazine subscriptions. Started joining a bunch of support groups and attending working mother summits even though she hasn’t worked in six years. All that’s ok but one of her “ mommy” friends who runs a local women’s wellness magazine asked her to do a shoot about empowering “ mom bodies.” She and about 19 other women ended up having pictures taken of their so called “ tiger stripes” and talked about embracing their mom bodies. I didn’t check out what was put out until I logged on to social media today and saw my wife tagged in her picture and I felt like what I saw was just a whole lot of indecent taste. There was a picture where the two kids’ feet was resting near where my fiancée’s stomach’s “crepe” texture started. My fiancée wrote an excerpt about how she used to be an avid rower and never shy in a bikini but for the longest time after the kids she ached everywhere and could barely get her excess weight and skin into her leggings. She says she felt undesirable, like she felt not valuable because she had lost her beauty and fitness. But then she tries to dispel it all by saying she realizes that her kids don’t care and think she’s beautiful and that her body made her proud to be a woman because it housed her kids for nine months. I confronted my fiancée and said it was one thing to not feel like a woman but to essentially blame our kids for ruining her body when she made that decision as an adult with free will was horrible mothering. She yelled that this wasn’t what she meant and that she was saying she’s grateful her body gave us children. I said that obviously the picture with our kids’ feet around her stomach was pointing out the cause of her “ ruined body” and it couldn’t be more obvious. AITA for thinking that she needed to hear that she can’t blame others when if she really ruined her body that was her own decision, not my kids’? submitted by /u/ThrowawayDiscu-4916 to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]
