AITAH for not tell my friend my shampoo had green hair dye in it?
I am NOT OOP, OOP is u/Friggie-Enthusiast Originally posted to r/AITAH AITAH for not tell my friend my shampoo had green hair dye in it? Original Post: February 22, 2026 I’m a guy with a bright green mohawk. I’ve had green hair for a while. I have to use a lot of hairspray to get it to stick up so I have to wash my hair almost every day. this makes the green fade pretty fast so I mix green hair dye with my shampoo and conditioner to make the color last longer. this is a common thing people with colored hair do. anyways, one of my friends stayed the night at my apartment after a show we went to because she missed her bus. in the morning she asked if she could shower. she obviously didn't have anything of hers because she hadn't planned to stay the night so I let her use my stuff. I showed her how to use my shower and told her to use my husband's shampoo and conditioner because "mine is for my green hair" and she said "okay" I gave her a towel, left, and she took a shower. when she came out I heard her gasp and scream and I asked her if she was okay. she started screaming that her hair was green and sure enough her blonde hair had green splotches all throughout. I asked her why she used my shampoo and conditioner when I told her it was for my green hair and she said she thought I meant it was a good, special shampoo and I just wanted to keep it for myself and that I should have specifically told her it had green dye in it. for context: the bottles are pink and opaque, but the caps are clear and are now stained green. the liquid inside is also green from the dye. I told her I thought it was obvious what I meant, but if she didn't fully understand me, she should've just respected my things enough to not to use them simply because I told her. she did not like that. now she won't talk to me and is telling all our other friends i’m an asshole for not telling her about the dye. maybe I could have been more specific but idk I don't think i’m the asshole here. AITAH? AITAH has no consensus bot, OOP received the majority of NTAs Relevant Comments Commenter 1: Did she not notice it was green when she poured it out into her hand??? OOP: yeah I was thinking the same thing, I would ask her but i’m still left on read Commenter 2: How do you keep it from dying your hands green? I have bright colored hair and the first few times I wash it after coloring, it turns my hands and shower a lovely (/s) pastel shade. OOP: I use lunar tides neon lime, it's really good at not staining your skin. I get that shit all on my face and scalp when I dye my hair and it's gone after one shower. Editor's note: after comments, OOP has posted two pictures to provide more context Picture of OOP's hair and conditioner descriptions of pictures First picture shows OOP taking a mirror selfie of his bright neon green mohawk. The sides of his head are shaved, leaving a strip of longer hair that from the front of his head to the back. The strip of hair has been styled upward and slightly forward as well. OOP also has a section of sideburn hair shown also in the same green color, matching the mohawk. OOP's face is blocked by his phone. Second picture shows OOP holding a hair conditioner bottle with a staining green colored cap, providing the fact that green dye has been used. OOP explained that the original color of the cap was clear prior to his use. end of the descriptions   Update: March 31, 2026 (over one month later) UPDATE: AITAH for not telling my friend my shampoo had green hair dye in it? I know that everyone says this but man I did not expect my previous post to blow up so much. some people have been asking for an update, I’m sorry it took so long but I honestly forgot all about it until I saw a TikTok of some people on a podcast covering my story lol before I get into the update I’d like to clear a few things up. firstly, yes, I am a guy and yes, I have a husband. it's this new thing called "gay" if you haven't heard of it I suggest looking it up on google. secondly, a couple people were accusing me of this story being fake because I put hair dye in my shampoo AND conditioner when apparently you're only supposed to put it in your conditioner as putting hair dye in your shampoo doesn't do anything to maintain the color. I assure you this story is true, I’m just a fucking idiot who likes to waste hair dye apparently. I posted pictures of my mohawk and conditioner bottle to my profile, I hope that's sufficient evidence for you reddit skeptics. onto the update. exactly ONE of the commenters hit the nail right on the head with their prediction. a few days after the incident my friend texted me saying she was sorry for blowing up on me and that it was entirely her fault she messed up her hair and she just took it out on me because she was upset in the moment. she said I was right, she should have respected my things, and now we're cool. I know that must be really disappointing to you all, I got a lot of really harsh comments saying that she was a terrible friend and a terrible person and she must have mental disabilities and that she's too stupid to be allowed to live. you guys a fucking nuts lmao. i've been wronged in much worse ways, stealing a little shampoo is not the end of the world for me. a lot of you were curious as to how she didn't realize the shampoo and conditioner was green and I was too so I asked her. she said she did notice it was green but thought it was like that purple shampoo that doesn't actually turn your hair purple, it just makes it a nice blonde. this was her first time being blonde so I guess a green tinted shampoo was not beyond her imagination. the bottles also say something about color protection on them so I guess that makes sense. as for her hair, she tried using color remover to get the green out and that kinda worked but some spots were still a little minty green so now her hair is this lovely royal blue color which I, personally, think looks much better on her. thank you all for listening to my story and I implore some of you to be a little more forgiving in the future, stealing a little shampoo from your friends shower does not make you Satan. Relevant / Top Comments Commenter 1: Really happy to see this update. Though I'll admit that when I read your original post, my mind immediately went to the Overtone products, which I have used in the past when I had colored hair. Polar hair dye?
I keep seeing the commercials. You know the ones… It covers grey completely just apply it to dry hair, no mess, no stain, rinse, and it lasts for 6-8 weeks. I’m tempted to try it but I’d love real reviews and insight. Has anyone with greying 4c hair tried this brand? submitted by /u/nyofdc to r/Naturalhair [link] [comments]

can i change my hair to natural black without dyeing?
Hi! My natural hair color is dark brown, it looks like this dog's hair under the sun light. I want it to be natural black, not blue black or purple black- just a natural black that doesnt look that yellow under the sun light. My question is, do i strictly have to dye it? Or those color shampoos help? submitted by /u/Significant-Spot1925 to r/HairDye [link] [comments]

The sides of his head are shaved, leaving a strip of longer hair that from the front of his head to the back. The strip of hair has been styled upward and slightly forward as well. OOP also has a section of sideburn hair shown also in the same green color, matching the mohawk. OOP's face is blocked by his phone. can i change my hair to natural black without dyeing?
Hi! My natural hair color is dark brown, it looks like this dog's hair under the sun light. Purple dye for someone that washes hair everyday?
(The pic is from Pinterest, it's my desired shade. The comments under it are turned off so I have no idea what hair dye is that :/ ) Hi everyone! I've been dyeing my hair professionally for 2/3 years now. It started with pink highlights, then half of my head then whole head in vibrant pink. Then I started to branch out to other colours: navy and then purple. I never had problem with pink: it would last for months, it would fade out to this pretty baby pink and when it got bad I would go to my hairdresser. Blue also held for a long time before fading to a total blonde. But purple on the other hand does not last for me at all. I need to wash my hair every single day. I went to many dermatologists, nothing helped and I just got used to it. I usually use Elseve shampoo (meant for dyed hair/blondes) or Pantene (also for dyed and damaged hair) and Elseve purple conditioner. No matter what I use, how frequently I wash my hair, it immediately washes off. Once I used a purple toner by onlybio. It lasted me the longest (a few months) but then it wouldn't even budge from my hair. I had to bleach it. My hair is almost always bleached to the platinum so I don't think it's an issue. Does anyone recommend long lasting purple hair dyes in a colour simillar to this picture? submitted by /u/xXxKirka-ChanxXx to r/HairDye [link] [comments]

blackening shampoo or black hair dye?
hi, i've been struggling with my hair for a while now because of the hairfall and dull texture. i dyed it to brown like 5 months ago and wanna switch back to black (my natural hair color) to at least enliven my hair a bit. the tip of my hair is already black but i have a long hair so it will take a long time to grow it back to black. would it be better if i use blackening shampoo or just dye it to black? also what brand would u recommend? i also worry that it would make my hairfall worse. tyyy submitted by /u/CarefulConstant3733 to r/CasualPH [link] [comments]

alternative to polar hair care dye shampoo
hi! i've been using box dye to cover my dad's greys for years now, but he's tired of the greys growing out within 1-2 weeks after dying it. he heard of polar haircare dye shampoo and was really excited to try it but after reading the reviews, it's apparently a scam and doesn't work at all. does anyone have any other recommendations for covering up greys that's not the typical box dye? submitted by /u/mat5790 to r/Haircare [link] [comments]

Hair dye shampoo that works?
I bought Polar Haircare dye shampoo…mistake. I wish I’d read more reviews first. But my question is, are there hair dye shampoos that work-that do what they say they’ll do without drying my hair out? My hair is dark brown…I have quite a few grays and, while I don’t expect shampoo to take the place of regular dye, I wanted to see if there was a shampoo I could use for highlights or between colorings. how do you use shampoo dye?
i finally gave in and bought some shampoo hair dye because my hair is just growing so much faster than i am willing to do my roots lmao. i’m confused because the directions on box say to put it on your hair dry (they read like a bad translation so it could be a mistranslation), but the direction photos on amazon show the person lathering their hair like normal shampoo in water. none of the reviews seem to say how they applied the product either. i don’t want to waste the product by doing the wrong thing, so if anyone has any experience i would really appreciate it :) submitted by /u/shslmya to r/HairDye [link] [comments]

AITA for dyeing my daughter's hair red and redyeing it afterward without her father's permission?
I 35f have shared custody of my daughter Grace 7f with my ex 37m. Grace loves The Little Mermaid and she has wanted to dye her hair red since she was about 5. My ex said no, she's too young, and at the time I agreed, and it never came up again. For her friends birthday, her and her friends went to see the film when it released. She got really interested in Ariel all over again, and started asking about getting her hair coloured red again. My ex again said no, but I told him that we could let her use temporary hair dye (will wash out in about 10 washes so around 5 weeks), and compromised on the shade of red Ariel wears in the films (that is ginger and not bright red) and he agreed to this. Grace has very fair platinum blonde hair, inherited from me, while my ex has dark brown hair. The colour in the bottle was called burnt copper (I had shown my ex the bottle beforedyeing Grace's hair), but as Grace's hair is very light, it turned to be more red than copper like it said on the on the packet. I wasn't too worried, as the colour would wash out and look more like the model, and Grace was delighted with her new hair. My ex came to pick her up and said Grace looked just like Ariel. While at his for the weekend, my ex got her to wash her hair, and he didn't tell me. I was furious, Grace was meant to use a colour safe shampoo, and her hair was washed just before she got her hair dyed, to maximise the colour of her hair. Her hair is now very faded and dull, and she came home and burst into tears. My ex said he didn't know that regular shampoo would cause the colour to come out like that, but when I pressed him, he said he was taking Grace to his boss' barbeque and he thought her hair was too distracting. He blames me for not saying her hair would be so bright, although it turned out like the reference pictures on the packet for platinum blonde. He claims he only looked at the hair colour of the model in front, although her colour is less vibrant as she goes from brown to copper. I told him that is his fault for approving it without checking all the details. Grace told me she told my ex she needed to use special shampoo from me but my ex told her that his shampoo would be the same. I have redyed Grace's hair from what was left over in the packet as she was so upset and my ex is calling me TA for redying her hair as I didn't get his permission. I don't think I am in the wrong. eta- This type of dye will not damage or alter her hair colour. My ex never washes Grace's hair. She hates the feeling of wet hair and I struggle to get her to wash it. When we split, I took on the responsibility to wash her hair. I will not be replying to more comments calling me TA for 'pressuring' my ex to let me dye Grace's hair. He is a grown adult and we both agreed to dye her hair. It was a little brighter than we both expected, but one wash later it would fade to look like what the package said. I gave him pictures of the packet and looking back at it, it says clearly to wash with the shampoo in the kit. He had this information. I didn't 'assume' anything. He chose to trick her into washing the colour out without bringing his concerns up to me. I didn't use box dye on her. She is 7, and that would damage the colour of her hair, and they have lots of harsh chemicals in them. It was a colour 'mask' intended for blonde hair and would fade in 10 washes to her hair colour. By using shampoo not provided in the kit, her hair came out dull and faded. I had done my research with this, and it is from a brand my sister uses, who also has our hair colour and she has been left with no damage to her hair colour. I dyed Grace's hair TEMPORARILY, because she wanted it, it was a fun way for her to express herself and it wasn't harming her or anyone else. submitted by /u/Proud-Situation4178 to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

Want to lie about your natural hair color? Have fun with an awful dye job.
My wife (22f) and I (22m) got my little sister (12f) some semi-permanent red hair dye for Christmas. She really wanted it and was very excited to use it on herself and her cousins. The hair dye is bright red (assuming you’re light blonde or bleached), but Sis has dark brunette hair so the dye becomes a dark burgundy on her. Everything that follows is what she told me, I wasn’t there for any of it. Sis brought her hair dye to family Christmas at Grandma’s so she could share it with our plethora of cousins. One of our cousins (Anna 16f) is pretty entitled. She’s a compulsive liar and manipulator. I keep my audio recording app handy on my phone when I’m around her should I have to use it because I don’t trust her. She has also done some mild bullying and taking advantage of Sis in the past year or two. Anna asked Sis to have her hair dyed. Anna obviously has had her hair bleached to a medium-light or light blonde. Sis asked Anna, “Is your hair bleached or dyed? If it is, then it’s gonna turn out really bright and look crazy.” Anna said, “no what haha this is my natural hair color!!” This is where the malicious compliance comes in. Sis and my other cousins share a knowing look before getting to work. After they let the paste sit for a reasonable amount of time, they wash it out. Instead of pretty mauve accents like in Sis’s hair, the back of Anna’s hair looks like a bright, clowny, patchy mashup. Anna’s response, I kid you not, was to look surprised and say, “oh yeah I DID bleach my hair I totally forgot this wasn’t my natural color lol”. At this moment Anna’s mother came in and was not happy. Anna wanted to take even more dye from my sister to try to even out the clown hair she had given herself, but Anna’s mom stood up for my sister and wouldn’t let her take more. This dye is only semi-permanent, but it will still take 10-15 shampoos to be fully washed out. I only learned all this because I took my sister out on a breakfast date after New Years. I was worried that Anna had bullied Sis into using as much hair dye as she did. When I asked about it, it turns out Sis just wanted to let Anna pay for her obvious lie. TL;DR My malicious 12 y/o sister allowed my cousin ruin her own hair because she didn’t challenge her obvious lie. Edit to clarify some things: ok so it is seeming like some things are being missed or misunderstood I had nothing to do with any of the actual MC. I simply got my little sister the gift she asked for. I didn't dye anyone's hair and I didn't record any of this. I am retelling my sister's and other cousins' recalling of events. I have never recorded any video or audio of any interaction I have had with Anna. In fact I don't even see her that much. I mostly avoid her. Yes, there is trauma in her life. No, I do not blame her for that. I am simply keeping the option of recording conversations (in a one party consent state) in the back of my mind in case things were to ever get sketchy. She is better than she used to be, but I am not going to take any chances. I have had male friends get falsely accused of things by crazy women that wanted to ruin them and the only reason it didn't stick and ruin his life was because the girl kept telling different lies to different people. I am not going to let a compulsive liar ruin my life with something untrue. It was actually my parents who told me to start being wary, so I am just taking their advice. For those of you accusing me of being a creep and calling this a "self-report", that is a new one for me. Not totally sure how to respond, other than saying read the story end-to-end. Maybe you're missing something. A lot of people are saying I made this up. I did not. I saw parts of this as it happened and my sister filled in the rest. The dye used is L'oreal Colorista semi-permanent. It is a big tube of dye paste that you put on the hair for a time and then wash off. My sister and cousins were doing short streaks on the ends/undercuts of each other's hair, hence why it was able to last through multiple people and multiple applications. All kids who were dyeing their hair had their parents' permission to do so. Some of you accused me of opening Anna up to undue bullying. She dyed her hair dark brown the next day, so it pretty much covered it all up. And again, I had nothing to do with any of this. A couple of you were judging me for being married at 22, and even rooting for a future divorce in the comments. My wife and I are currently very happy, but I will let you guys know if divorce ever comes. Most of the comments are positive, and thank you so much for that. There were even a few of you defending me from people who obviously didn't read or comprehend this whole post. I definitely didn't expect this post to get this much traction, but here we are. submitted by /u/WiscOhioNative9 to r/MaliciousCompliance [link] [comments]

AITA for putting blue hair dye in my shampoo without letting my family know?
so I (21) have blue hair and I was told by a hairdresser that the color sticks better if you put a little bit of hair dye in your shampoo. this was all good until my 12-year-old sister decided to swipe and use my shampoo. she is blonde and the result isn't pretty. my mum is mad at me for putting dye in my shampoo and not telling anyone, this is my shampoo that i bought and i had placed it in the shower that only i use and my sister took it and used it in another shower. she has done this before with other items and my mum also thinks i did this as a way to teach her not to steal my stuff (i didnt). so yeah the whole family is mad, should i have told them about me putting hair dye into my shampoo? Edit: I'm not a victim of theft and I'm well aware of that lol submitted by /u/pixelkid44 to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

Who would’ve thought this color was hiding underneath all the black hair dye that I used to apply.

WIBTA if I Spike My Shampoo With Hair Dye?
Technically not me, but my boyfriend's, but he doesn't have an account, so here goes: We live in shared housing on campus. Most of my housemates are friends, but one of them moved in later on and we're not very close to her. She's usually drunk and when she has her friends over, we can't get any sleep because of all the noise she makes. We sometimes find her passed out on the top her mountain of stuff in her room that she never cleans. She (or her friends) had also stolen the sandwiches I'd packed before a day out (which I found out after I'd gone out). Recently, my other housemate had noticed that her shampoo had been going down more than she was using it. By process of elimination, we guessed that it was probably that housemate. We are quite done with her shit by now, and we're thinking of spiking some shampoo in an opaque bottle with hair dye to teach her a lesson. If it doesn't go in her hair, at least her hands will be coloured. So, in doing this, AITA? Edit: Due to valid concerns, her hair is dyed. It would be unlikely that she's allergic to substances she's already used. Edit #2: Yes, hair dye might not be the best idea. We are looking at the alternatives you guys are suggesting. We don't want to do damage, just send a message that she needs to stop. Edit #3: Pasting one of my replies for visibility: We've talked to her about it, kind of harder to forget when you've stumbled out to the kitchen at 3 in the morning after a 12 hour shift (medical student, so he does regular training in medical facilities) to a bunch of drunk people howling and pounding the kitchen table in. Right now she's got friends in her room, door's closed and we can hear her howling in the opposite end of the place with our door closed. We've also talked to her about the sandwich, she blames it on her friends (that she doesn't control or take responsibility for). My boyfriend's only plate (heyyy student life) was also "loaned" once and he couldn't have his daily cereal. He caught her a few days later trying to sneak it back to the kitchen, which when confronted, she broke down into tears. She's also left Indian food in her room once, for half a week. The entire house stank of rotting food and then her cloying perfume because she thought that was a good idea. She's only been here about one and a half months. We're quite tired. We're not going to put Nair in the shampoo because we're not that cruel, but she needs to stop, and she doesn't own up when we ask her about things. submitted by /u/darkchoc_muffins to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]
