A question for Mayor Farkas, Raj Dhaliwal and Council: When do we start enforcing the $10,000 illegal dumping fine? This living room set was left directly adjacent to a City prevention camera.
Like many of you, I was glad to see the City increase the maximum penalty for illegal dumping to $10,000. It sent a clear message that treating our shared spaces and surrounding ecosystems as a personal landfill would no longer be tolerated or subsidized by taxpayers. However, policy is only as effective as its enforcement. I snapped this photo today. What makes this particular incident so egregious is the placement: an entire living room suite and associated refuse left literally right next to a City of Calgary dumping prevention camera (visible on the pole behind the concrete barrier). We’ve been told that these mobile camera units are an essential tool for deterrence and investigation. If someone can pull up, unload a massive pile of furniture directly in the line of sight of city surveillance infrastructure, and drive away without consequence, the system is failing. It pulls municipal crews away from proactive work and shifts the financial burden of disposal onto Calgary taxpayers. Mayor Farkas u/JeromyYYC, Raj Dhaliwal and Council—we have the infrastructure in place, and we have the bylaws on the books. When can citizens expect to see these maximum penalties actually prosecuted and publicized to create a genuine deterrent? Just moved into a new place, can't set up my PS5 until we get a bunch of junk out of the living room. Vita is literally perfect for times like these lol
Being able to chill in bed and play Borderlands 2 is honestly impressive for an early 2010's pocketable-ish device, even if the port isn't the greatest lmao submitted by /u/M0rse_0908 to r/vita [link] [comments]

AITA for ruining my daughter in laws birth plan
I need some opinions on this situation. My son and DIL are staying with me at the moment. Their house is being fixed due to a flooding issue that happened about a week ago. A fire hydrant broke and flooded the houses near it. Due to this there home needs some of the floors replaced, and it is not safe for them to be there while contractors deal with the damage. My DIL is supposed to give birth to her first kid at the beginning of next month, and their home will not be fixed in time. They have been staying with me and set up a little nursery in the guest bedroom. My home is not big. I downsized years ago, so I live in a 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom home. I learned this weekend that she was planning on having a water home birth and a midwife during it. I thought she was going to the hospital, but that apparently wasn't the plan. She plans to have the kid in a basically a blown up pool that goes in the house. The only two places it will fit are the living room or if I move my bed in the master bedroom. I thought about it, and I am not comfortable with that happening in my home. I told her this today, and she was pissed. We got into an argument, and she is mad that I ruined her birth plan. My son wants me to apologize and have it here. Again, I am against it. I don't want her giving birth in my living room. submitted by /u/dil-issue-1046 to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

I don't have another dollhouse, so I set up a MCM living room on my bookshelf.
My Lundby is full, and I don't have another dollhouse yet, so I displayed some of my 1:12 MCM minis on my bookshelf. As I was arranging this yesterday, I dropped one of the tulip chairs, and it snapped at the base. 😭😭 Praying to the cyanoacrylate gods that I can glue it back together. The books are all real life titles. I got them as part of an "anxiety bookshelf" fidget toy that came with 200 miniature books, so I've had a fantastic time looking at them all. submitted by /u/domekdomek to r/Dollhouses [link] [comments]

My roommate records tiktoks in the living room and demands “quiet on set”
this is mostly just a rant. so my roommate (25F) records tiktoks in our living room, and when she’s filming, she literally says “quiet on set” like she’s directing a movie. I’ve tried talking to her about it, told her it’s kind of unreasonable to treat a shared space like her personal studio. she said she’d just record when I’m not around, but that hasn’t really happened. it’s always “just one quick take” that somehow turns into half an hour of retakes, lighting adjustments, and exaggerrated sighs when I walk thru a shot I get that everyone has hobbies, but this is our living room submitted by /u/Toval-Orem to r/badroommates [link] [comments]

I wanted to share my fully thrifted living room and dining room! I moved into my forever home 3.5 months ago and am finally unpacking and setting up. It’s great to see my hoarding paying off!
Nearly everything has beeb thrifted, dumpstered, or yard saled over the past 25 years. The only “new” furniture here are the shelves and rug… even the couch was free. Most of my stuff has been in storage in another state for the past 4 years. It’s exciting to see it again along with all the new stuff I have accumulated since I unexpectedly moved cross country. The art prints of Elizabeth Taylor came from the artist directly after I got one of her original paintings for free on Craigslist. It was very valuable and I gave it back to her for free many years later. The original was 6’x4’. I have a vintage lamp problem. I have about 20 more that I have not yet found a place for. I have a thing for very boring commemorative plates. The 3d astronaut prints came from an eccentric street vendor in nyc who had bought the original 1960s stereo cameras and negative. I bought them in 2001. They are probably the things I have had the longest in this room. Little Miss No Name got a foot injury during her cross country trek. I’m very sad about it. Even the plants were free and mostly came from cuttings. The lightbulbs for the Sputnik chandelier cost more than the fixture itself. The most expensive thing is the hutch that I got on Facebook marketplace for $250. submitted by /u/LLaserz to r/ThriftStoreHauls [link] [comments]

In Child’s Play (1988) Ed Gale was hired to play as Chucky for the fire scene as he was around 30% taller than the doll. This meant they created a living room stage that was 30% bigger and actually set him on fire.
