Aristotle's formula for lifemaxxing. And no, it's not using moisturizer and lifting weights.
Lifemaxxing (Gen Z for living your best life) is a term that has been thrown around a lot lately by kids who spend their time getting perms, moisturizing their faces, and “mogging”. But if you ask them what it actually means, no one seems to be able to give a definition that works for everyone. By the end of this, you'll know what living your best life actually means, how to do it according to Aristotle, and why so much of what people call lifemaxxing today is completely wrong. The Gen Z influencer, Clavicular, famously said, “If you’re not looksmaxxing, you’re not lifemaxxing.” But after watching a fully grown, allegedly straight dude who smokes meth curl his eyelashes and hit himself in the face with a hammer, be like “this is peak life”, I was like huh… that seems off. The problem is that he basically coined the term. So he’s become the authority on what it is. And if you check Urban Dictionary, the top definition reflects that: Lifemaxxing When you work towards making your life better John: what's Joseph doing with all those weights and moisturizer? James: he's lifemaxxing dumbass It half jokingly says lifemaxxing is making your life better by moisturizing and lifting weights. I don’t moisturize and I find lifting weights annoying and my life is still pretty good, so this makes no sense to me. So I did what any sane person in today’s day and age would do. I posted a story asking my friends what they think. The answers I got varied a lot. (I'd post screenshots, but can't in this sub) None said that it was getting perms or smoking meth. Some answers were pretty well thought out. But they still had a lot of holes in them and none were universal. So I kept digging and discovered someone already thought about this so deeply that they came up with a definition that has held up pretty well for over 2,000 years. In Aristotle’s book Nicomachean Ethics, he basically lays out what he believes is the formula for the best life. I dug into the original text of this dense and truly brilliant work and attempted to translate it into terms that even Gen Z broccoli heads with TikTok brain can understand (lets be real, this would land better in a series of short-form videos). I apologize in advance for how long this is. I’m actually trying to keep this short and may even break this out into a series because of how much interesting depth there is on the topic. But anyways, lets get started. What do we actually want? Before we get into how to live your best life, we need to agree on what we're actually shooting for. Most people you ask will say that it’s money, freedom or something about how everyone’s definition is different. But the reality, according to Aristotle, is that we’re all after the same thing even if how we get there is different. To prove this, all you have to do is act like a 5 year old for a minute and keep asking why you want anything over and over until you can’t think of any other reason. It usually goes something like this: I want that job. Why? So I can make money. Why So I can buy that car. Why? So I can get that person. Why? So people will think I’m cool. Why? So I can have more friends. Why? So I can be happy. Try it with anything. The car, the body, the girl, the followers, the freedom. Every chain ends in the same place. So I can be happy. Aristotle calls this the “highest good” because it’s the only thing you do for its own sake and not for the sake of something else. But "happiness" is just a temporary feeling. When most people say they want to be "happy," they think of a feeling. A mood. Something you're experiencing at any given moment in time. Though this feeling can be the result of living your best life, it’s not accurate to say this is the end goal for 2 reasons: It’s basically impossible to spend every waking moment in complete blissful euphoria. That’s not actually what would make you truly happy. Think about it. Why would someone who has everything willingly take on hard challenges like climbing mountains and changing the world instead of sitting on the beach drinking martinis and watching funny TikTok videos? Because it’s not fulfilling. Chasing happiness ironically often leads to misery and depression. Some people who have everything like money and fame have gone down the path of trying to make themselves feel good all the time and they usually end up in rehab, overdosing or suicidal. So chasing constant pleasure clearly doesn’t lead to living your best life. What you actually want isn't a temporary feeling you chase. It's a state of being you exist in. Aristotle’s word for this was Eudaimonia. It has been translated as happiness, living well, or flourishing. But happiness is considered a less precise definition than “flourishing” or “living well”. That’s because happiness is what you feel. Flourishing is how you live. Happiness and flourishing are not the same thing. Category Happiness Flourishing / Fulfillment Source External Internal Effort Minimal Requires work Duration Fleeting Lasting Driver Pleasure Purpose Result Fades fast Compounds over time Essence Feeling State of being Happiness is just a series of dopamine hits. You want something, you get it, you feel good, you feel empty, you want the next thing. Pleasure spike, crash, repeat. It's the doom scrolling and slot machine loop. Flourishing runs on different chemicals Serotonin from pride and self-respect Oxytocin from real connection Endorphins from overcoming hard things. These don't just spike and crash, but build over time. Flourishing is something you actively do. This is a really important point because often times people think if I just had xyz, I’d be happy. But as we discussed, happiness isn’t the true end state. And likewise, flourishing isn’t a state of being you reach one time and then are done. It’s something to be built and maintained. It’s not like you win a game and then the game is over. Flourishing is an ongoing activity. You're either doing it, or you're not. Aristotle says sleeping man with all the virtues in the world is not flourishing while he sleeps. In other words, the successful entrepreneur who hasn't done anything in ten years maybe was flourishing in the past but can’t just coast on that success forever. He's arguably not even an entrepreneur anymore. If you stop doing it, you stop being it. How does one “do” flourishing? Flourishing, as Aristotle puts it, is doing the right activity, excellently. But what are the right activities? And how do we do them excellently? Aristotle groups the right activities into three categories of human goods: Bodily goods, like health and vitality External goods, like food, shelter, and resources Goods of the soul, like knowledge, relationships, and meaningful contribution Doing them excellently means something specific too. Aristotle calls it virtue. In practice, it looks like balance. According to Aristotle, lifemaxxing life doesn’t mean maxing anything out at all really. If you’re doing something to the extreme, it’s not considered virtuous. An example he uses is courage. You have the two negative examples on the outer ends. Being a coward who doesn’t take action and then being so bold that you do stupid things without considering the consequences. Virtue, or the ability to do something excellently, is in the middle of the two extremes. So a virtuous and courageous person would take action when needed in a way that is strategic and not reckless. Aristotle also gave us criteria we can think about for thinking about if we’re doing things excellently Doing the right thing To the right person (if applicable) In the right amount At the right time In the right way For the right reason Miss any one and the action stops being excellent. So if you’re donating money, this sounds like an excellent activity that is a meaningful contribution, right? But if it is... To a bad cause (wrong thing to do) To someone corrupt (wrong person) A penny donated by a millionaire (wrong amount) When it’s too late (wrong time) By humiliating the person you’re giving money to (wrong way) So that he can tell people how great he is (wrong reason) ...then it is not excellent. So at the end of the day, to live your best life, you spend your time doing things that are good for your health, generating resources, or your soul in a way that checks all the boxes for excellence. To lifemaxx, you max out the % of your time you spend doing these activities. Having the best day isn’t having the best life. You can have a great Tuesday and a wasted decade. You can have a brutal year and still live your best life. To lifemaxx, you have to think long-term and make decisions for a lifetime. This is also why the past doesn't save you. The athlete who hasn't trained in five years isn't really an athlete anymore. The writer who hasn't written in a decade isn't really a writer anymore. The executive who hasn't done meaningful work in a decade isn't really an executive anymore. The version of you that exists today is the version that counts. What you've done before is part of who you are, but doesn't make you who you are today. What you do consistently, day after day, over a lifetime, does. As Aristotle put it, "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit." The flip side, if flourishing is built on what you do consistently from now on, then your past doesn't lock you in. The cigarette smoker who quit yesterday isn't a smoker anymore. The person who has been wasting their life until now can start flourishing tomorrow. The past is closed. The future is open. The only question is what you do with today. There are certain baseline things you need to flourish. To live your best life, you have to have certain baseline conditions. You can't flourish if you're starving, in chronic pain, surrounded by toxic relationships, or financially stressed out. Your body and surrounding circumstances have to be at least okay enough for you to be in a position to even think about flourishing. Aristotle lays them out as the following: Bodily goods Health Strength / vitality Beauty (think of this like taking care of your body and hygiene) Long life External goods Food, drink, clothing, shelter (he doesn't list these explicitly but they're implied) Wealth (but specifically, enough wealth, not max wealth. He's clear that excessive wealth doesn't add to flourishing) Good birth (born into a situation where you can improve your life) Good children Friends (and good friends, not just any friends) Political / social conditions A functioning society Some degree of leisure (you can't flourish if every waking hour is survival labor) Freedom from slavery and oppression FINALLY: Is looksmaxxing lifemaxxing? Ah yes, I’ve been waiting for this. Addressing the idea that you have to maximize how good you look to live your best life. First, I’ll concede that if you take a natural approach to looking good, then this would often check the boxes of bodily goods that improve health and vitality. As an extremely handsome and good looking man myself 💅, I do care about looking and feeling good. I lift weights, do challenging hikes and activities, push myself physically, and am conscious of what I put in my body. As a result, I am happy with how I look and feel. My physical shape and vitality levels are prizes that I have earned through years of consistent hard work and healthy choices. Unfortunately, that’s not what the "looksmaxxing is lifemaxxing" crowd is pushing for. Now before I go full unc, I’ll say that if I’m wrong about anything here, then I’ll laugh at myself for being a hater and take it back. But my understanding is that the belief of the "looksmaxxing is lifemaxxing" crowd is that you should go to any lengths to maximize how good you look. Some extreme examples I’ve heard are how Clavicular smokes meth to suppress his appetite or how Dillon Latham literally injected sperm into his face to make his eyes more puffy or something because it was “an absolute mog” or whatever. These may be the exceptions and not the norm, but the underlying idea is that it is acceptable to do things to improve your perceived physical appearance, even at the expense of your actual health and vitality. They aren’t moisturizing their faces for their health. They’re doing it out of vanity. Sitting in front of the mirror applying lotion, makeup, curling their eyelashes, and doing their hair doesn’t make them healthier. It doesn’t produce resources. It doesn’t make them smarter or improve their relationships. It doesn’t do any good for themselves or for the world. In fact, the epitome of looksmaxxing is reaching “mog” status. This is where someone who may or may not have any brainpower, skills, or value to the planet feels an unearned sense of superiority for positioning themselves next to people that they perceive to be inferior-looking so that they can feel they look better by comparison. This actually kills relationships and instead of contributing and actively seeks to harm the other person by belittling them. Looksmaxxing is actually just an immature, insecure, and vain lifeminnimzing activity that, in Aristotle’s terms, rots the soul. But the crazy part is that for someone like Clav, looksmaxxing could be his version of lifemaxxing. I know I know I sound crazy and contradictory, but hear me out. Looksmaxxing might genuinely be his best life. It probably gives him purpose. He may genuinely think he's helping other guys build confidence. Maybe it's his way of coping with something deeper. It certainly generates money for him. If he truly believes that he’s doing the right activities excellently by Aristotles definitions, then creating a looksmaxxing movement truly could be HIS version of lifemaxxing. But that's super unique to him and his life. Just because it's HIS version doesn't make it THE version. Being the leader of a movement that you believe is helping people and the follower of one for vain and selfish reasons are two totally different things. Flourishing is doing the right things, excellently, over a complete life, once the basics are in place. You have to find your own “right” things to do with your life. That's it. Now the questions becomes practical. What are the basics you need in place? What does "the right things" actually mean for you? How do you build the habits to do them consistently? What does doing these things with excellence look like for you? PS, there’s so much to cover, I wanted to give a few honorable mentions Aristotle wrote like 10 books on this. I just covered like a fraction of the notes I have from book 1 alone. Wanted to give a quick rundown of some interesting related concepts I jotted down in my notes, but didn’t cover. I feel like these could literally be their own posts: Why things that seem good temporarily aren't actually good To Aristotle, “desirable” and “good” are basically synonymous We all share basic desires (eat, drink, sleep) but also desire things we don’t need (looksmaxxing, views, dopamine hits, dating a supermodel) The dopamine hits seem good in the moment but may seem terrible later when you didn’t get any sleep and feel your brain rotting because you don’t have an attention span What he calls acquired desires (wants): based on individual experience, vary over time, only appear good Natural desires (needs): born with them, shared by all humans regardless of background Why taking action matters more than talent Aristotle says a happy man lives well and does well. Characteristics in happiness are all found in being. Someone virtue, wisdom, pleasure, external prosperity. In order to win (like in the Olympics) you have to compete. So those who compete win the noble and good things in life. This is a point that I like to make. You can’t win at life if you don’t play the game of life. If everything is certain, you know what will happen next, you can’t have good things happen to you. It’s not the most talented that win necessarily. It’s those who compete. So you could be the most talented content creator in the world, but if you never make content, you’ll never win and receive the benefits of being the most talented. To live your best life you must exercise virtue, not just have it. This touches on one reason why watching a powerful performance can make us emotional. Because you see someone living out their best lives and it reminds us that we’re not everything we are capable of and we know it. Good visual is a video game character who has stats sitting on the stand watching someone with lower stats win. Why living impulsively isn't your best life Aristotle talks about following passions, but not how we think of it today. Passions = impulse or desires. The person who “follows passions” pursues each successive object as passion directs. This is a key phrase where he’s describing someone whose life has no consistent direction. they chase whatever desire shows up next. Wake up, want pizza, get pizza. Feel bored, scroll. There’s no overarching principle organizing the choices; each one is just a reaction to the latest impulse. If you’re impulsive, you’re not living life, life is happening to you. Living your best life involves organizing your desires as opposed to just following impulses. submitted by /u/moonlite-money to r/selfimprovement [link] [comments]

Spent 3 hours organizing my makeup drawers and I’m finally done!
I’ve been putting this off forever, but I finally spent 3 hours today measuring every single inch of my drawers and getting everything organized. I actually ended up grabbing these clear bins from Shein just to hit the free shipping minimum, but I’m honestly so shocked at how well they fit?? I was obsessed with making sure there was zero wasted space, and they’re almost perfectly flush with the sides of the drawer. I also put all my "forgotten" products (sorry...the ones I never reach for lol) into one specific bin in the back. Hopefully, now that I can actually see them, I’ll remember to use them once in a while instead of just buying new stuff. It’s not a fancy professional setup, but man, it feels so good to open a drawer and not have everything sliding around! submitted by /u/PrestigiousPear8223 to r/organizing [link] [comments]

Lookmaxxxers flock to r/generationology to defend Clavicular after he gets his cortisol spiked by an SNL skit making fun of him
Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/generationology/comments/1s0o3il/gen_z_streamer_clavicular_claims_millennials_have/ HIGHLIGHTS Gen Z honestly is the biggest disappointment. Dunno, I think that’s a title reserved for the millennials Edit: The downvotes are hilarious, I seemed to have struck a nerve on the poor millennials 😢 It is disappointing to be able to look someone in the eye, order a pizza on the scary phone and to have money for retirement you’re right. What in the world are you talking about 😂 I rest my case lol. Ah yes, how dare the Gen Z kids lack retirement funds when they haven’t even been a part of the workforce for a decade 😡and Gen Z making a PHONE-CALL? Blasphemy, that’s impossible. If your case was making the most nonsensical statements, you did an absolutely phenomenal job I must say 😂 It’s not your fault you guys weren’t taught about context clues I forgive you. I’m sure following in Clavicular’s footsteps will save you though. Millennials and their incessant need for validation, name a more iconic duo. Their need to feel special, whilst trying to claim the achievements of generations prior whilst doing nothing but tarnish the legacy of their predecessors. There is a cycle, hard times create strong men , strong men create good times, good times create weak men, weak men create hard times, hard times create strong men. Millennials are the weak men in this scenario , and let me tell you times are now pretty fcking hard. As if times weren't hard when we were getting sent to the middle east after 9/11... You weren’t drafted , neither of those events so much as impacted your day to day. Your generation benefited from prosperity that hasn’t been seen in decades, the insane tech boom where tech stocks and companies all x100 , for the tech savvy 2 crypto booms , all while genz was too young to even benefit from those insane generous opportunities. What great financial times , offering benefits and opportunities that were not founded based on merit but based on immutable traits xD. Your education nor post grad education job opportunities were inhibited by a mass global event that literally inhibited and destroyed said prospects. Sipping martinis on a zoom call benefiting from already being established in your industry. Yeah man ,,, tough stuff… really had to lift yourself up from your boot straps huh. At least we don't try so hard on the internet, damn son this dude calls millenials 'gay' and 'r*tarded'. calling people 'gay' and 'r#tarded' IS millennial culture lol That's definately not millennial culture. Millennials are the softies who did away with that because it was too offensive. We went from edgy, offensive humour to woke. We created it and killed it. Gen X created it. How gen x of you to care so deeply about nonsense I'm a millennial. To be totally fair SNL has never actually been funny We all know you've never watched an entire episode all the way through, you lack the attention span What attention span does someone need for SNL? Someone with downsyndrome can be half awake watching it and be totally caught up Yeah.... you're not helping yourself there bucko You're the one defending garbage just to be contrarian. Try again. You've used contrarian in the wrong context. Not great of SNL to do a skit of an already extremely insecure young man, exposing him to millions more people Hes hurting people with bad advice, its public health to show how embarrassing he is It's the world's beauty standards that made him this way in the first place, and publicly embarrassing him isn't going to make his mental health any better. If SNL wanted to deinfluence the kid's audience they should've done a skit about how crazy the terms like "canthal tilt" is or the difference between how non conventionally attractive people can actually get attention irl vs how it's painted to seem on social media idk. But making an exaggerated caricature out of one specific, young, and clearly insecure person just feels like punching down. He also treats other people like shit and pounces on their insecurities what about the people he talks shit about? Well yeah that's also horrible. That doesn't take away from the skit being weird One of the most well known lolcows does something ridiculous People under this post "I'll never understand why all of Gen Z is like this one popular Gen Z guy who is infamously known by Gen Z to be a lolcow. Smh. By the way, I know how to access task manager and I'm unreasonably proud about it." He’s not really a lolcow tbh, that’s cope He's most certainly a lolcow unless you're literally 12 years old. No reasonable person who isn't a preteen is taking this seriously Idk why it keeps hiding my comment but here But most adult people do all that without doing meth, abusing steroids, and acting like a fool. I think if you have to abuse controlled substances and be a social pariah in order to have a comfortable lifestyle, you're below 90% population. It's like a court jester applauding himself for his platform as if he wasn't given that platform by the king for acting like an idiot and nothing else. 90% of the population doesn’t sleep around or earn as much as he does though, and I guess it’s cool that you don’t do meth or steroids but it’s not more ‘embarrassing’ than it is to drink alcohol In fact most of the population does in fact abuse controlled substances to lead inferior lifestyles lol Edit: is he really a social pariah if he’s constantly partaking in hookups; clearly his exclusion isn’t by people who matter As someone who comes from a town of like 257 people and grew up next to a trailer park, meth is way worse than alcohol. One is fermented organic matter you can buy at a store and the other is a chemical homunculi that you have to get a prescription for in small doses or buy from some dude named Daryl. Also, my point is that a lot of people who abuse controlled substances still have shame and don't broadcast themselves to thousands of people. The reason Clavicular is popular on the internet is the same reason bodycam footage is popular or videos of car crashes. Lastly, yes. Being a meth addicted whore typically makes you a social pariah. Lol. Doesn't mean you can't get laid. On the contrary, it likely means you're easy. Which he is, man. Idk what to tell you. (Edit: and by people who don't matter, do you mean the people who gave him this massive platform?) He’s right. You know your culture is our’s right? Like, we gave it to you. You’re welcome lil buddy. “Your culture is ours?” I don’t even know what that’s supposed to mean. EDIT: Oh, it’s because you think I’m a Zoomer. I’m 42. I’m a Millennial. He’s right. Okay cool. Their culture is pretty much based on what us and generations did before. So, by virtue of stating that we’re doing the same things that generations before us did, you agree that millenials don’t have any culture of their own, got it. Nope, we’ve added, put a twist and made our own mark. A lot of what they’re doing is just copying what we and others before have too. Sorry bro, you’re not getting any cool unc points here. I don’t think you know what “cool unc” points are if you’re unironically trying to claim that Gen Z copies us. I think it’s cringe how much effort you’re putting into this “cool unc” points system. Tbf, this wasn't that funny I don't care about SNL at all but seeing it get under this guys skin is pretty funny I don't think it was getting under their skin. I think they were more disappointed since there is so much in looksmaxing to make fun of, but they choose to do stuff like this It for sure did. Otherwise, he wouldn't have gotten so defensive. I don't think he got very defensive but ok. Forgot that when I post on reddit it's always redditors who respond Lmao, ok, what do you call his response then? Underwhelmed/disappointed. I mean, they probably get made fun of constantly on social media. It's not like SNL specifically is going to strike a nerve. There is so much in that sphere to actually make fun of and they just made this little skit that doesn't use any of it. They kinda just put makeup on a cast member, gave them some looksmax vocabulary, and did a silly voice. There really isn't much to say in response to that. submitted by /u/CummingInTheNile to r/SubredditDrama [link] [comments]

Based on requests on my last post, I made this for you!
I posted about brands tied to Epstein but many of you had questions about your favorite brands, great recommendations, and wanted a list of brands marked safe! From the comments and recommendations you’ve provided and with additional research to verify they’re safe on my end, I compiled a list based on that. How do you organize your daily makeup?
I feel like it took me quite a while to organize my daily makeup. This is my (medium-sized?) collection. I did not see a lot of mirror cabinets in the make up organisation posts, so I wanted to share mine. The left side of the cabinet (not shown) is for skin care and when that door is closed, I have a mirror for applying my makeup. What is your preferred organization at the moment? submitted by /u/Background_Swan_3842 to r/OrganizationPorn [link] [comments]

My niece even mentioned to my daughter that she was having a hard time finding enough bridesmaids because many of her friends are pregnant. Then we all stared finding out who my niece had chosen to be in the wedding party. Everyone in the family was included except for my daughter. My niece asked me and her two sisters to be bridesmaids, asked my son to be a groomsman, included her parents of course, and even asked my ex (who has been estranged from my side of the family since the divorce) to be the usher. She made a wedding website with photos/descriptions of all of the people in the wedding party. My daughter is the only one not on there. My niece didn’t directly tell my daughter that she wasn’t included. Instead she created a text group with all of the women in our families except for my daughter to plan hair/makeup/etc for the day of. My daughter was with me and my other nieces when we got the text and didn’t have her phone on her, so she assumed she was included as well. Turns out she wasn’t. When I reached out to my niece for clarification, she stated that my daughter was not going to be included. When I asked her if my daughter could at least get ready alongside us in the bridal suite (doing her own hair and makeup), my niece said no. Her exact words were “there won’t be any room for her.” My daughter is understandably crushed and has no idea why she would be the only one not included. When she and my niece finally spoke about it, my niece wouldn’t explain why she had done this or apologize. Her only words were “It was my decision to make. I’m sorry that you feel upset about it. I hope you can get over it.” I never saw my niece as a mean person but I am questioning my view of her now. I don’t want to participate in a wedding where my daughter has been singled out/excluded for no real reason. I can’t think of anything my daughter could have done to offend my niece. It seems that my niece can’t come up with a single reason for excluding her either. When my niece asked me to be a bridesmaid, I didn’t know that she was planning on asking everyone else in the family except for my daughter. I wouldn’t have accepted if I had known this. Am I the asshole if I tell my niece that I won’t be able to fulfill my commitment as a bridesmaid and just attend as a guest? I’ve already posed this with my daughter and she thinks that me and her brother should both still participate because she doesn’t want to be blamed for our dropping out. If I do decide not to participate, I will be making it clear to my niece that it was 100% my decision to drop out because I feel personally disrespected that she would treat my daughter this way. I’m torn on how to handle this. (Edit: daughter is 22 and niece is 34) VERDICT: NOT THE ASSHOLE RELEVANT COMMENTS Teapur INFO - is your daughter what most people would consider prettier than the bride? Could it be jealously? Even if it is, NTA, by the way. OOP I will say my daughter is beautiful and I’ve seen from experience a definite “head turner” soullessginger93 ding ding ding We have an answer! Your neice doesn't want a bridesmaid that is prettier then her. Basically, neice has become a Bridezilla. I would personally bow out of a wedding with a bride as petty as this. dabbler_dame I wonder if there was something that happened between them.. that your daughter doesn't feel comfy bringing up and neither does the bride. I mean..when pressed- the daughter doesn't seem that bothered, because maybe she was the one who caused problems?? The theory of "she is too pretty" just doesn't sit well with me.. I think something shady happened between them. OOP Maybe I wasn’t clear— my daughter is very upset. She tries not to make a big deal out of it but she has expressed many times to me that she is very hurt and doesn’t understand why her cousin had excluded her. ~ PRMinx INFO Have your niece and your daughter historically had a good relationship? OOP Yes, historically they have been very close. I had a hand in my niece’s upbringing so she was always like an older sister to my daughter. For reference, my daughter’s high school graduation gift was a trip to go visit my niece. PRMinx It’s really hard to make a judgement call here. I think something happened between the two of them and they aren’t telling you the true story. You’re NTA, but there will be consequences if you don’t go as intended. Your daughter may get upset you made it into a bigger deal (as she said) and the family could rift. OOP My daughter and I are very close and I think she would have expressed to me if she had any idea of why she was excluded. When we’ve talked about it she seems most hurt because she doesn’t understand why. It may also be important to note that I overheard most of their conversation when my niece and my daughter discussed it. When my daughter asked why she wasn’t included my niece refused to answer and only said “it was my decision to make”. Maybe the niece is afraid of being overshadowed My other two nieces (the bride’s sisters) are also in their twenties but there would be no way for the bride to exclude them. I hope the overshadowed part isn’t the case, but I’m starting to think it is. I don’t want to see my niece as someone who is petty enough to exclude my daughter simply based on that. Update - rareddit Aug 28, 2019 (2 months later) Hey everyone! This is the daughter writing the update. My mom didn’t know how to do an update post and asked me to write it for her. We’re both here to respond to comments if you have any. I saw that a few people asked what my aunt’s opinion was after the verdict was given on this post! Here is the answer to that question: My aunt said that she had told my cousin from the beginning that excluding me was going to hurt my feelings and suggested to her that I be a bridesmaid instead of my mother. My cousin turned down this suggestion but would not say why. I also saw some people wondering if something had gone down between my cousin and me that I wasn’t telling my mom. This is definitely valid question! The answer is no, she and I haven’t had any problems prior to this (that I know of, at least). She has always been like a sister to me. If she ever had a problem with me or anything I’ve done I would hope she would tell me. Another question I saw was about my relationship with my father. He and I have a very tense relationship due largely to some mental heath problems that he has. Prior to all of this I had confided in my cousin a lot about this. This made her decision to include him over me hurtful in a very poignant way. After reading all of your comments and some more deliberation, my mom ended up staying in the wedding party. I appreciate her desire to stand up for me but I really did want my cousin’s wedding to go smoothly (despite my feelings being very hurt). My mom respected my wishes. She is an amazing mom all around and I am lucky to have her in my corner. After the conversation I had with my cousin (described in the last post) I was on the fence about attending the wedding. I then heard from other relatives that she was concerned that I would “sabotage the wedding” if I were to attend. I found this comment to be bizarre and confusing. At this point I decided that it would be best to remove myself from the situation entirely. I told her that I wouldn’t be attending and left it at that. It was a hard decision to make, but your reactions to the original post made me feel more confident in my choice. The wedding did end up going smoothly. I heard from multiple sources that there was plenty of extra room in the bridal suite. I wish I could have been there with my family to support her on her big day. She and I have both been part of each other’s major life milestones for as long as I can remember. I still haven’t figured out why I was the only one excluded but I have come to the conclusion that she and I must not be as close as I had always thought we were. At this point I’m not sure that I want to be. Your feedback on the original post played a large part in me realizing that. Thanks to everyone for reading and for all of your responses! We got great insight from everyone who commented (especially those with different perspectives from our own). If you guys have any more questions feel free to comment! RELEVANT COMMENTS passivelyrepressed Guarantee you her husband thinks you’re hot. That’s the only thing that makes sense if everything you’re saying is true so I’m curious - how’s your relationship with him? Like is he close to your age? Do y’all have a past? Does he act weird around you? That’s the only reason I can think of that would make a chick act like that out of the blue. OOP He and I have a good relationship. Not super close but we’re always friendly and laugh/joke around when we see each other. He’s a really nice guy. We have no past and I’ve been with my boyfriend longer than my cousin’s husband has been around. gimmieurtots Will you invite your cousin when you get married? The answer better be a resounding fuck no. OOP Not sure if there will be room for her. Can’t be sure whether or not she’ll sabotage it. Sorry if she feels upset about it. It’ll be my decision to make. Hope she can get over it. PeppermintLane My petty ass is cackling. ~ RonnieJamesDevo INFO hey OP, you’re gonna get deluged because this was a fascinating post. So in light of this weird turn of events, is there any of your cousin’s behaviors in hindsight that have any hint of her being a jerk, throughout your relationship? Do relatives have any theories? I can’t imagine this not being hot family gossip - and honestly, far more distracting than you as a bridesmaid ever would have been. OOP Honestly, yes. I have gradually seen her becoming more self centered and materialistic over the years but have tried to ignore it because I didn’t want to see her that way. I can think of a few examples. The past few holidays that she has come to visit my family (she lives out of state) she has gone out of her way to make a “schedule” of who is invited to see her, when, and what they’re doing. I see this as very self centered and it has rubbed me the wrong way but I mostly just tried to let it go. I also asked her to look over my personal statement for my application to graduate school a few years ago because I looked up to her tremendously and wanted her input. She said she would do it but then put it off/made excuses until I finally submitted it without her input. She’s a very organized person and that was not characteristic of her. I let that go as well and tried to give her the benefit of the doubt. As for this situation, my family is generally confused and feels that she owes me an apology. No one really understands what she was thinking. Vienta1988 Does she value her education quite a bit? I have a cousin who changed her name on Facebook to the initials of the various master’s degrees that she has because she is, well, a little pretentious... she didn’t seem to want much to do with me shortly after I started pursuing a doctoral program (and I was the first in my family to do so); I don’t want to be petty, but I feel like she maybe thought that I “upstaged her” by getting a higher degree. That could have been the start of your cousin’s jealousy. Also, you being younger and prettier would only add to her feelings of jealousy! OOP She was the first in our family to get her bachelors. Part of me wonders if she may resent no longer being the “most educated” in the family. That’s not the kind of thing that matters to me— I pursued an education in my field because I’m passionate about working with children, not for the title. But I know it matters to her. 213471118 INFO Ok I know this isn’t an actual judgment post but damn it we all wanna know — so how much hotter are you than your cousin? OOP This is a loaded question! All I’ll say is this: I have never felt the need to compare myself to her. Yes, I am conventionally attractive. I had always thought that she was pretty but now her personality makes her ugly to me. Got engaged! June 16, 2020 (1 year later) Hi everyone! This is the daughter. For those who were interested enough after our AITA posts to follow- a few of the people who commented on our update post wanted to be updated when I was planning my own wedding. Now I am! I’m so excited to get to marry my fiancé. If you have any more suggestions or insight for me let me know. It’s a weird time to be thinking about planning a wedding but he and I are both really excited for the rest of our lives together :-) FINAL COMMENTS HeadBonkat Now the million dollar question...does the cousin get invited (hopefully she is definitely only a guest if she invited at all)? Have you mended the relationship at all? OOP We have not mended the relationship at all. I’ve made it clear that I am willing to move on if she apologizes, but unfortunately she has not done that. At this point I don’t plan to invite her. ~ reallynotsohappyat Congratulations for the engagement. I wish you and your SO all the happiness. I couldn't find it on the updates or the comments. Maybe I missed it but did you ever learn why you were excluded this harshly and they thought you would "sabotage" the wedding if you were to attend? OOP Thank you for the congratulations! We’re very excited. And no, I never found out why she excluded me or said those things. To be honest, I am not even sure that she is consciously aware of why she did it. Surely if there had been a real reason, it would have come out by now. At this point I just feel kind of sad for her. Bathroom before and after
My bathroom was a chaotic mess. Now, I love taking my time getting ready each morning and feel like I’m pampering myself and actually engaging in self care when I spend time in my bathroom. As you can see, I have a makeup, lotion, and perfume addiction 😅 but with everything organized, I feel like I know exactly what I have and exactly where it is. Next project is my closet!! submitted by /u/KitchenConsequence41 to r/OrganizationPorn [link] [comments]

More PROOF that she makes her son SLEEP THE ENTIRE DAY! She took a full shower, washed her hair, did a sponsorship, made snicker dates, organized all her makeup, straightened her hair, AND did a color analysis ALL WHILE HER KID NAPPED! Look at his hair, he just woke up after several hours!!
In the very beginning of the vlog Alex said that Anderson was already down napping, which she had already taken a full shower at that point & washed her hair. She goes on to open packages & do a sponsorship for "Thrive market". Then she makes herself hot chocolate, then proceeds to make snicker dates for the 100th time. Notice she's hiding the clock & her watch, wearing long sleeves on purpose & covering her hands to hide her apple watch. She then goes upstairs, to declutter all her makeup, going through everything, which takes awhile. Then she straightens her hair, then does a full color analysis holding all these seasons over her face. Then goes back downstairs to put chocolate on her dates....ALL THAT TOOK HER SEVERAL HOURS!!!! ANDERSON WAS NOT AWAKE THAT ENTIRE TIME!! He was in fact napping & you can tell he literally just woke up because look at his hair & side of his face. It's much later in the day & she just let him finally wake up after napping at least 3-4hrs straight, if not longer. She gives him a banana cracker, then immediately puts him in the stroller to MAKE HIM SLEEPY AGAIN! She said out of her own mouth, that Anderson always ends up falling asleep in the stroller on their walks. When did he get to play???? When did he get to crawl, or try to stand or walk???? This child is almost 15 months old & this entire vlog he was NEGLECTED & IN HIS CRIB!!!! I'm sick of people defending this bitch, saying that we "don't see or know everything" but she VLOGS IT!! She literally says it from her own mouth!! This isn't speculation, or assumptions, go through this vlog & watch for yourself. WHERE THE FUCK IS HER CHILD WHILE SHE'S DOING ALL THIS SHIT?!? He's not at daycare, he's not there playing in the background. He was in his crib with bent, bowed legs laying there clapping, self soothing in a dark room with a sound machine on, while his mother made herself hot chocolate, snicker dates & showered, straightened her hair, organized her makeup & filmed a fucking color analysis for content. You can tell he was in fact napping that whole time too because he looks groggy & like he just woke up. The side of his face is red & his hair was messed up. He was sleeping & it's time people say it for what the fuck it is!! Her stans are telling us that we're "unhinged & reaching" THERE IS LITERALLY PROOF RIGHT HERE!!! Set aside your hate for this subreddit & reaction channels & stand up for this child!!!!! Stop making excuses for this bitch, when it's clear she's neglecting Anderson!!!! 📣 🛑 submitted by /u/MoveSuspicious2108 to r/alexandrarodriguez [link] [comments]

I turned down a proposal so he tried to kill me
I am NOT OOP, OOP is u/anzbrooke Originally posted to r/TwoXChromosomes I turned down a proposal so he tried to kill me Thanks to u/soayherder for suggesting this BoRU Trigger Warnings: death of loved ones, PTSD, choking, domestic assault, alcoholism, emotional abuse and manipulation, job loss, property damage Mood Spoilers: terrifying and horrifying, but optimistic at the end Original Post: July 4, 2024 My now ex of 8 years is locked up. He decided to propose on our 8th anniversary whilst completely blacked out drunk. I told him for the millionth time, I won’t say yes if you’re drunk. I’m scared of you drunk. He tore my door down and grabbed me by the hair. He smacked my head into the wall so hard there are holes. He bit my thumb so hard it almost broke. I still can’t bend it. I’m bruised and sore. I don’t even remember him dangling me off the balcony, I suppose my brain blocked that part out. My dad heard the fight and my pleading and he saved me. I called 911 and it took two cops to beat him down to get him off of me. Yesterday was my interview for my dream job. I still went, with heavy makeup. I pray they didn’t notice my injuries. DSS (CPS) (editor's note: Department of Social Services) showed up about our son that was asleep through the assault. I’ve been named his guardian and my ex is banned from speaking to me. He may only see our son when sober and his mother present. Without alcohol, he’s as good as gold. But he certainly tried to kill me and I can never forgive him. Today I’m not as angry, I’m simply sad that I’ve lost my family. Why would I even feel sad for that abuser? Can anyone point me in a good direction for resources? I have a victim’s advocate. I’m embarrassed, sore, angry and now sad. I do not know how to navigate this. I’ve been through hell the last 7 years and thought I had my happy ending. Editor's note: OOP has made many good comments, posting common questions asked and answers Several of OOP's Relevant Comments OOP needs to get away from her ex for her own safety along with her son's OOP: I suppose this is all for the best for our son. He doesn’t deserve that at all. Nor does my daughter whose father is deceased and I share custody with her grandmother. Was your dad abusive? I swear my ex treated me like gold besides the three incidents of violence - the last one being the last straw. My children never saw this but my eldest knows about it. Commenter 1: Be prepared to be love bombed. He will seen to return to the person you first met, and he will be very remorseful and say alcohol made him do it and he will promise to stop drinking. He will behave great around your child and act like a perfect father. Don't believe it. The number 1 predictor of someone being killed by a partner is a recent incident where the partner attempted to kill or inflicted severe life threatening injuries. OOP: He choked me 7 years ago during a break up. He did exactly that and returned to substance abuse and physical abuse. He won’t trick me this time. Cops told me there won’t be fourth time - he will kill me next time he’s angry. Commenter 2: Even if you're letting go of a really toxic person in your life, there may still be grief. You are grieving and that's OK. You are so strong and you have to stay that way for your child. He needs you. You have a great dad. You need to get some counseling for grief and probably PTSD. Good luck. OOP: I had emergency counseling two days later (yesterday) and my therapist is extremely worried because I already have severe PTSD from a number of traumatic events including our first son dying (which led to his drinking) and my daughter’s father being killed in an accident. Several sexual assaults. I could go on. I do not feel human right now. I feel like a proper idiot. OOP needs to contact organizations that provides assistance to abused women OOP: Yes, I have a victim’s advocate and they have me connected with Safe Harbor. I do have a therapist but she’s not my favorite. She’s tough on me though and I kinda need that so even though seeing her gives me horrible anxiety and I usually sob the whole session, I need her tough love right now. Commenter 3: Ask your victim advocate about a restraining order and getting an official custody plan and child support put in place by your local court. This man just tried to kill you. He could very well succeed next time. This isn't a guy you can negotiate with, so you need the state to be the heavy and enforce things. Please see what your legal rights are and make sure you use them. OOP: I’ve been through family court with my daughter. I actually know what I’m doing with that unfortunately. If I land this new job, I’ll be make to afford a good lawyer and get this taken care of properly to avoid a future battle. I’ll have to get him while he’s weak- before he has enough sober time. But no I honestly anticipate just dealing with his parents because I basically was his fucking mother for 8 years too. I control all of our accounts. He doesn’t even know how to handle his own job’s websites. I’ve done everything because otherwise he just didn’t. It’s a goddamn mess. Commenter 4: It's not like the movies where abusers are obviously The Bad Guy. Abusers can seem to be great, loving people a lot of the time. That's why people stay, because they get loved (and love bombed) and treated so well that the abuse is thought to just be an aberration. "Oh he's a great guy, he's just an angry drunk. But he doesn't get drunk that often! So our lives are good for the most part. Nobody's perfect, everyone has their problems, but I can deal with him temper on occasion." Living with an abuser, it's like the abusive episode just kinda ... happens. It's something that is done to both the abuser AND the abused, because the abuser is a great person, right? So they must be suffering as much as the abused, and especially afterwards when the abuser was soooo remorseful. Right? Yep, came from a house with abusive parents. Not all of it was bad! There were plenty of great times! Which kinda fucks you up even more. And note: he can't blame this on the alcohol. I've known recovering alcoholics that KNOW they can't drink because they become angry drunks. They know when they start drinking, they are going to do things they regret. Your husband knew what he became when he drank, and still did it. The whole thing fucks with your head and with your kids' heads. Yes, it's good they didn't see it, but they could certainly feel the emotional tenor of the house. Contact your victim advocate and see what other resources there are available. Your advocate helps you with the court system (which is great!), but there should also be therapeutic resources available. OOP: Jesus this just blew my mind. It made me cry, which I think is the first time I’ve cried this entire time. It made this real. I definitely feel more afraid for my kids than anything else but the severity of it really didn’t hit me until I posted this. I’ll definitely pursue this to the fullest extent possible and make sure this is all processed the correct way. I keep thinking he’ll be basically in quarantine with his parents but I need to secure my legal rights immediately. And therapy. I do go to therapy but it seems like it’ll need to be more specialized if it’s going to work. I appreciate you and everyone else giving such in depth insight. It’s been invaluable and I’m forever grateful. Commenter 5: You may not see this but you need to find a way to COMPLETELY cut contact. He shouldn’t be around you at all, not even to see his son. Plenty of stories of women being killed despite being broken up because he was allowed to see his kid. I don’t know how it can be done but it’s only a matter of time before he does something. Someone this dangerous should be nowhere near you, EVER OOP: He got out of jail last night. He called me. He said “baby what did I do? I took one of your anxiety pills and had ten beers” I told him to not call me that. I told him DSS is involved now and I refuse to be treated this way. He sobbed and sobbed. I refused to show weakness and told him this was it. His parents are with him and my son right now. I am obtaining an order of protection Monday. He can’t drive and needs massive surgery so he has trouble walking when sober. Does that mean he won’t retaliate? I don’t know. I’ve read a lot of studies and personal stories of ex’s killing their ex’s. He was actually locked up with a local man accused of shooting his wife in the face. I’m pretty shaken up right now. I contacted my case worker and she referred me to some different services. I’ve got a lot to think about now. Update: October 4, 2025 (15 months later) 15 months ago my ex violently attacked me. I ignored Reddit's advice and eventually took him back. Here's the update. July of 2024, my husband of nearly a decade nearly killed me while black out drunk. The comments I received from a post I made then bluntly explained what my future would be if I took him back. I am ashamed to say that I did indeed take him back but lived apart while he went through a lot of therapy for anger and alcohol. Things were decent for about 8 months but he quickly reverted back to heavy drinking and violent behavior. I felt utterly stuck. Lost my job- leaving me to depend on his income, lost my confidence, was abusing my anxiety medication just to deal with his outbursts. Many friends parted ways because they couldn't watch my inevitable murder. I became a shell of myself. A month ago, he lost it again and was violent (not to the extent of the first time, but still) and put our child in danger. His family called the police after he injured my parents and began to throw furniture, smash anything glass and did so in front of our 3 year old. I ended up with glass lodged in my eye but I am so very lucky to be alive. My CHILD is lucky to be okay. That is my greatest shame. But shame will only hold me back from reaching my potential as both a person and mother. Everyone's comments were spot on. The lovebombing, the amazing promises, seemingly changing his life for the better. But as predicted, that did not last. I am so embarrassed that I didn't heed so many genuine warnings sooner. My therapist describes it as battered wife syndrome and for me to focus on all of the positive changes I am making for myself, my kids, and my career. In just a month, I feel like I've had a thousand pound brick lifted off of my shoulders. No more tiptoeing on eggshells, no more canceling plans because he's too drunk, no more popping Xanax to stand being alive, no more terrifying rants wondering if he would snap. No more running out of money before payday because he drank and smoked it. I am at the most dangerous part of my journey. He is realizing that I am not coming to his rescue. That I am truly done. This has caused him to really show who he was all along: a hateful, rage filled man child with the ability to cause severe harm. I think seeing my child in danger is what snapped me back to reality. I'm not fully out of danger until I move further away and get a lawyer to help me safely untangle our decade of dysfunction but I have an extremely strong support system (and two neighbors that are armed). He is not allowed near me or our son. I'm posting this because I see a lot of women posting about their wonderful partners becoming violent for the first time and not knowing what to do. Please, please let my words (and those thoughtful folks that tried so desperately to warn me last year) alert you to the danger you are truly in. It is never just once. Women are killed every day by men like this. I do not want sympathy. I want this to serve as warning to all the lovely women (and men!) feeling stuck in an abusive situation. Don't fall for sunk cost fallacy, or he'll change, you can't afford to not have that secondary income, or your situation is different. The price I paid to keep a man that only held me back was higher than words can express. I will finally be my authentic self and my children will thrive by having a happy, healthy and safe mother and environment to grow. If my confession here saves just one person from this life or potentially being hurt or killed, then the embarrassment and inevitable comments that will be negative are worth it. Be safe, be happy, and live a life worth living- not just surviving. Editor's note: OOP responded to many comments, posting top common responses, questions, and answers Some Relevant Comments Commenter 1: I am glad you were able to leave. I also went back. More than once. I honestly believe that if I’d not left the last time he’d have killed me. You are aware you are at the most dangerous stage but please don’t underestimate this. Be safe and please update us. OOP: Did you have any shared children? My biggest worry is when he inevitably gets to see our son, although supervised, what if he harms him to get me back? This man is obsessed with me. It's not love. I realize that now. I appreciate you pointing out not to underestimate this. He truly was an involved and good dad until....he was drunk and fighting with everyone around him. I cannot let my guard down by thinking of the kind of dad he was whilst sober. Commenter 2: You have such a kind and forgiving heart. You did everything, tried everything, put yourself back in harm to give him that chance. And it didn’t change him. You know that, now for sure. Sweetie? You don’t need to check again. Please do something for us ok? Protect your kind heart. You are going to have to get a little tougher and protect your gentle kind forgiving heart! Because it wasn’t safe with him. So save it for yourself and your child, and your family. You ARE tough, kindness isn’t weak, it is so damn hopeful and unbreakable. You had enough to forgive him once, so you can give yourself some forgiveness now. You got this. Please stay safe for your child, for YOU, for the FUTURE YOU DESERVE!! OOP: Oh this hit me hard. I truly poured my soul into this relationship. Went against all instincts because I thought we could be happy. I thought I could lead him to success and happiness. I've never been one to heed warnings. Expensive lessons have been learned. It's not really about me anymore, it's about protecting my eldest (her father died) and our shared child. Thank you How is OOP's eye? OOP: I work as an optometric technician and licensed optician so luckily I had the best care possible. My eye healed completely with no scar tissue! Thank you for asking! Commenter 3: I remember your other post. I'm so glad you and your child are safe and away now. This is a good example of why every single child should be taught they should never ever go back to an abuser. OOP: I hope I can use my stories to inspire people to make better decisions. My life has had so much tragedy it doesn't seem real. I know I can make something of it all though. During my last post, I was soooo upset. This time, I was utterly numb and done. The scary part is that he's baffled that I'm not helping get him a lawyer or get his unemployment set up, etc. I was told not to block him to keep an eye out for threats to report to police. His trial is late next month on felony domestic violence and resisting arrest. OOP on having conversations with the cops and getting therapy for her son OOP: I had two cops come by and sit me down last year and explain that they knew how this would end if I went back. They were soooo kind too...they said I was like 700% more likely to be murdered than the average partner and asked me to think of my kids. This time, the victim's advocate basically said they knew my case (his 3rd charge) and I needed to choose my life and my son because they knew where this was headed. I didn't even press charges, the state forced me. It was a horrible wake up call. Like why did I give him another chance?! My son is showing some serious signs. I'm in therapy but I'm trying to get Medicaid to get my son help. That's a long ass story but the latest will be January. I'm glad you got away and thank you for sharing with me. It truly helps. Commenter 4: So twice now he’s not in jail for ? OOP: He got bailed out by his mom in an attempt to save his career. She regrets it. He lost his job anyway and was drinking as soon as he got out. AITAH for being upset that my husband “planned” a date that we never went on?
My husband (27M) asked me (28F) if I wanted to go on a date this weekend. I gladly said yes as we have two kids and I always need some time away from the chaos at home. Well, he says something along the lines of, see if your parents can watch the kids. So I ask and my parents say yes they can watch the kids. They ask what time and I have no clue, so I just name a time and say 6-9pm, because my husband has not said anything to me other than “do you want to go on a date” and “ask your parents to watch them”. Saturday rolls around, our date night, and he is out in the yard all morning tinkering with the sprinklers and doing other stuff in the yard. I asked if we were still going on a date and he asks me if my parents were still going to watch the kids. I told him yes but I’d make sure. Well my mom had forgotten and kind of put me on standby. I relayed this to him and he didn’t say much. I asked what he had planned and he really didn’t say anything, just that if my parents weren’t able to let him know. 2pm rolls around. I’ve already gotten dressed, put on makeup and been excited about going out to do something. I asked again if we were still going to go out and again he says its dependent upon my parents ability to watch the kids, but we can take the kids if need be. Honestly, I am at home with the kids all day and don’t really want to bring them because I just want a moment alone. 4pm rolls around and my mom confirms that she can watch them, but shes been cleaning all day and seems stressed. Meanwhile, my husband is still outside doing whatever he is doing. He has been outside from maybe 11-3pm at this point and gave me no indication that we were still going on our date aside from asking if my parents were still watching the kids. At this point, I feel like I am the one solely invested in this “date night” by organizing child care and continuously asking my husband if we are actually going anywhere. I finally just tell my mom to forget it, she is stressed, I don’t feel like my husband cares, we will just figure out another day. I text my husband and told him I wasn’t in the mood to go out and I poured myself a drink and changed into sweats and laid in bed. He proceeds to take our oldest and goes to the store to buy beer (that he’s been wanting because he drank his stash a few days ago) and fruit, because our daughter is out of fruit. I have changed into sweats at this point and have started drinking because I am sad. I was looking forward to going on a date not planned by me and it didn’t end up happening because I feel like my husband didn’t actually plan anything and I had to plan child care for an event that I didn’t even know was happening or not. I tried talking with him about it and it ended in me being the problem and how “this is why he never tries to do anything for me”. I genuinely want to know if I am in the wrong. There is a lot more to our marriage than this story, but I am trying to grasp if I am the problem because I want to fix things if I am. [Repost + Extra Info]: I didn’t get a job because I was a bully in high school
I am NOT OOP. Often, the letter writer does not respond to comments in AAM posts, but for this original post here, they have read and responded. I am adding the relevant comments for more context that were not in the previous BoRUs Original Post: April 25, 2017 I’ve been trying to break into a niche industry (30-40 jobs in a city with a population of 3 million) for a while now. I’m in my late 20s, and though it took me some time to decide what I wanted to do with my life, I have finished my degree and completed two internships. I’m working part-time in a related field and freelancing while searching for a full-time job in the niche industry. I’m willing to move for the right job, but I’d rather stay close to home — so I was stoked last summer when I got an interview for one of the very few entry-level jobs available in my city! I ultimately didn’t get it, but the interview went well enough they encouraged me to apply the next time they had an opening. Then an acquaintance who works at the company called me up and asked if I wanted to get coffee. I figured she’d offer me tips on how to do better next time. Instead, she told me to give up on ever being hired there — turns out, a girl I had gone to high school with is a real rock star at this company, and she threatened to resign when it looked like I was about to be offered a job. (I hadn’t realized it was her because her married name is different.) I’ll be honest — I wasn’t a very nice person back then, and I probably was pretty awful to this girl. I looked my former classmate up, and her resume really is incredible. She graduated from college early and has awards people who’ve worked in our industry twice as long haven’t won. Her public-facing work is top-notch. I’m guessing she’s the kind of employee a manager wants to keep around. My acquaintance’s prediction appears to be true: I didn’t get an interview for a new position at the company that would’ve been an even better fit than the one I’d interviewed for. When I asked why, I was told a staffer had raised some concerns and the company would not be moving forward with my candidacy. I’m heartbroken. I worked so hard for so long to get the training required for this type of work, and I don’t think I deserve to be blacklisted for something I said when I was 17. I have my former classmate’s work email. Should I beg for forgiveness? For Alison's response to the original post, please refer to this link here Editor’s note: below are OOP’s comments that will help provide more context Relevant Comments Commenter 1: When OP said she “probably was pretty awful” to the person, it suggested she doesn’t fully remember what she did to her I read it to mean she remembers her as someone from school but not the extent of it. This seems to happen with some bullies, what seems like inconsequential childhood stuff to them lingers with their victims for years. I got a Facebook message from someone once who was excited to reconnect with me. He remembered me as a supportive friend and spoke fondly of the times we spent together- meanwhile I remember him as the bully I had nightmares about until my 20s. I don’t think OP should apologise unless they can actually remember the details because “I was probably pretty mean to you” is going to sound like CYA even if they do wait a year or two to reapply. Personally there are few circumstances where I would work directly with one of my bullies and I have moved departments to get away from them in the past. OOP: Here’s what happened: I’d known this girl since elementary school and had mutual friends in common in middle schools. We started hanging out a lot our sophomore year because my family moved in across the street. She started to call me her best friend, even though I didn’t consider her mine. She also liked a boy in our friend group that I started dating. That made it really awkward, so I decided I didn’t want to be friends with her anymore. It wasn’t my intention to cut her out of the friend group, but that’s what happened. My understanding is she ended up feeling very isolated and alone for the rest of high school. I realize now I could’ve handled it better. The last I heard was she was working two states away, and remembering her from back then, she always said she wanted to get the hell out of our city. So it didn’t occur to me that the Lauren Johnson I saw on the staff page could be the Lauren Pumpernickel I knew in high school. Commenter 2: Maybe I’m reading the letter wrong, but I didn’t get the impression the OP was applying for a job that was on par in title, responsibility, or pay as the former classmate. I thought it was definitely a more entry-level job but at the same company. OOP: I finally finished my B.A at 26 and completed a three-month and six-month internship. I’ve been freelancing in an adjacent industry for about a year and a half. I know it took me longer than I should’ve to get where I’m at. The positions I’ve applied for have been entry-level. Neither would have required me to work directly with Rock Star, based on what I know of the organization. Rock Star graduated from college in three years, worked for a few years in a different adjacent field for two years, then has been doing this for the last six. She is in the same job category as people who’ve been there much longer. Commenter 3: Yeah. Social ostracization is really hard on people. It’s why solitary confinement is considered torture by the UN and why in biblical times it was the worst punishment you could mete out on an unrepentant sinner. Being frozen out by not just one person but your entire social group? Ouch. I really feel for Rock Star now. OOP: I’m really, really trying to be self-reflective here. I’m sure I did make comments like, “Ugh, Rock Star. She’s SO annoying. Let’s not invite her.” I know my mom asked her mom (we were neighbors) if she was having a graduation party our senior year, and Rock Star’s mom said, “Rock Star doesn’t want one because she doesn’t think anyone will come.” I cringe when I hear that now because, well, they probably wouldn’t have. Commenter 4: Commenter: Whoa, I could only read the first hundred or so comments before I realized something seemed off– AAM is the one who used the term “bully, ” the OP did not; instead, the phrase used was “not very nice.” There were plenty of people who were “not very nice” to me in high school, but never bullied me. And reading the OP’s description of what actually happened above, I have to say.. that doesn’t sound like bullying, although I certainly agree it was unkind. But again.. I was a weirdo in high school and there were plenty of people who weren’t always nice to me, but that doesn’t make them bullies. Of course, there were probably people that I was mean to because I was 16 with raging hormones, but I wouldn’t think about THAT until someone mentioned it to me (in a situation like this, perhaps). I am sure there are many people who are commenting who had terrible experiences with bullies.. but there is a lot of projection here. If I were the OP, I’d maybe ask some friends or other high school classmates (with Facebook, surely there are some!) and ask for an honest opinion on how horrible they were. I guess I feel like people are jumping to a lot of conclusions based on their own personal experiences. OOP: I used “bully” in the subject of my email because that is apparently the term Rock Star used when she shot down my candidacy. According to the acquaintance, the language she used was along the lines of, “I would be very uncomfortable if you hired Kfox for the producer job. She was a bully in high school; I would move on if I had to see her every day.” Commenter 5: What jumps out at me is OP saying the rockstar called OP her best friend, but rockstar wasn’t OP’s best friend. There was a very unpopular girl in my class who would glom onto people and try to push the relationship between them into a high degree of intimacy immediately. It caused a lot of problems for her. With some people, it led to real bullying. But even if you weren’t a bully — if you were someone who would otherwise have been civil and reasonably kind (because I don’t think anyone is a bully for NOT wanting to be best friends with someone — however, you do have to be civil), she would push and cling so much that it was overwhelming and extremely off putting and there didn’t seem to be a middle option of being friendly/civil at school — either you ignored her/avoided her completely or you were BEST FRIENDS ALL THE TIME and had to be with her for EVERYTHING to the exclusion of any other friends you might have had. Not an easy situation for an awkward teenager to deal with tactfully while still maintaining some boundaries. So with that perspective — I could completely see this being a situation where OP wasn’t a bully, but just didn’t accept the level of friendship that the rockstar wanted, and the way she dealt with it was by pushing away from rockstar — not necessarily by doing terrible things but just not inviting her along or avoiding her if she was the sort who invited herself along to everything — and if the friend group was OPs friend group that rockstar had hooked into by virtue of her friendship with OP, then I don’t find it surprising that once OP started to put some distance between her and rockstar, that the group did so as well. Obviously, I don’t know, so of course there could have been social bullying as well, but I think it’s unfair to OP to assume that she must have been a really horrible bully to rockstar, especially if she can’t remember the horrible things she did. Regardless of what the mix was, rockstar remembers it as bullying, so I think OP is out of luck for that company. OOP: It wasn’t this bad. More, Rock Star was a little socially inept, talked a lot about books none of us had read, didn’t wear makeup, didn’t listen to music (I’m really, really into music), generally was a little weird, but she wasn’t the most unpopular girl at school and I wasn’t embarrassed to be seen with her. It’s kind of strange now because she has a very polished public persona and it hardly even seems like the same person. Update: December 13, 2017 (7.5 months later) I know you didn’t solicit an update, but I felt compelled to send one. I’d written you in the spring because I was having trouble breaking into a niche industry in which a high school classmate I’d bullied was a rock star. I wanted to know if you thought apologizing would help me get a job. At the advice of your readers, I did delete the draft of an apology email I’d had sitting in my inbox for some time. I applied for one more job with Rock Star’s company, and when I didn’t hear back, I decided it was really and truly time to look elsewhere. I found a shop in a town seven hours away that was desperate to hire someone for a paid 9-month fellowship that started in June because the candidate they’d originally extended an offer to found a full-time, permanent position. I said goodbye to my boyfriend, packed up my car and two cats, and drove to a town I’d never been to. And I hated it. Not the work. I actually loved the work, but the town sucked. Being away from my boyfriend and my family sucked. Not being able to make friends sucked (everyone else my age was married with two kids already). I called my boyfriend every night crying. He was supposed to come visit me over Labor Day but cancelled at the last minute because he had to work. Seeing how bummed I was, a coworker offered to swap shifts with me so I could make the trip home for the long weekend. I hopped into my car after work on Friday and drove all evening, arriving at the place I’d been sharing with my boyfriend before I moved a little after 1 a.m. Well, you probably know where this was going. He was cheating on me. I was devastated. I spent the rest of the night sobbing on my sister’s couch and drove back to where I was working the next morning. Except I couldn’t make myself get out of bed on Tuesday. Or Wednesday. Or Thursday. I was fired after my third no call no show. I tried to get the part-time job I’d had before moving for the fellowship back (they’d said come back anytime), but they’d found someone who was faster and more efficient than I’d been. Unable to afford a place on my own, I had to move back in with my parents. Not sure what else to do, I sent another desperate application to Rock Star’s shop. In an effort to cheer me up, my sister and my friends took me out for a nice dinner for my birthday at the end of September. This is where it goes from bad to worse. I drank too much wine at dinner and got pretty weepy. I excused myself from the table to try to put myself together … and ran into Rock Star and her husband celebrating their anniversary on the way to the bathroom. I ended up yelling/crying at her that she’d ruined my life. I was asked to leave to leave and told I wasn’t welcome back. That was Saturday night. I spent Sunday hungover in bed, trying to figure out how to clean up the mess I made. On Monday morning, Rock Star’s manager (the one hiring for the job I’d applied for) emailed me to let me know I’d been removed from the candidate pool. She advised me that I would not be considered for future positions at their shop … or any other in the network. That afternoon, without mentioning me or what happened at the restaurant over the weekend, Rock Star tweeted a long thread about how she’d been bullied in high school and she wishes teenagers would realize that high school ends and it does get better. She also tweeted out links to local mental health resources and the National Suicide hotline that were liked/retweeted many, many times. So, just to recap, no job, no boyfriend, no money, no hope of ever breaking into the industry I spent five years preparing to enter. It’s hard not to feel like some of this is Rock Star’s fault, especially given how she rubbed salt in the wound after my whole world had come crashing down. Alison, once again, made a response to OOP’s update post. Please refer to the link here Editor's Note: Alison shared OOP's comment to the update post Additional Information from OOP: OOP: Thanks for posting my update. I’ve been reading the comments, but I can’t find much energy to respond to them. Things haven’t gotten much better for me. I’m currently staying with my sister, but I have to move out in January (long story, but she’s having a baby and “needs her guestroom back”), and I’m not sure what I’m going to do then. I probably do need therapy, but I can’t afford it. I reached out to an old high school friend to ask if what I did to Rock Star was really that bad. She replied, “Um, you really weren’t great to her.” I prodded and found out that Rock Star actually ran away from home for a while and lived with her sister in another city to get away from me but came back to play on a school team. I really am trying to let my resentment of my old classmate go, but it’s hard. I keep telling myself to unfollow her on Twitter, but as some of the comments guessed, she has a few thousand followers and is often retweeted. She is a prominent voice in this community. I got a bit of a reprieve last month because she went on vacation and wasn’t posting as frequently, but mostly it reminded me I’ve never had a job with paid vacation before. I feel like our industry really is as niche as I’ve described. BTW, I do exist. I know a couple of comments questioned whether anyone could screw up this badly. The answer is yes, someone can. I changed some details when I wrote you to protect her/my identity, but I assure you, I have the receipts. Best & Worst Skincare Products I’ve tried [review]
Little bit about me/my skin: Im 25F and I have sensitive, acne prone, combination skin. My skin is especially sensitive to fragrance, citrus and floral essential oils. Because of this I’ve become a bit of a skincare nerd and an obsessive ingredients list reader. I definitely still have a lot to learn about skincare but I hope this list helps some of you! Especially my fellow sensitive skin skincare addicts. I tried to keep the reviews very short and straight forward, but if you want me to expand on any products let me know! 1. La Roche-Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer 30 SPF - 3/10 Pros: Fragrance free and very moisturizing. Cons: Broke me out and burned my eyes Best for: dry skin. 2. Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser - 0/10 Pros: literally nothing. Cons: I don’t like the smell, it broke me out, didn’t remove my makeup well. 3. Drunk Elephant Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser - 6/10 Pros: Clean ingredients list. Cons: Stripping/drying and expensive. For who? Oily skin or those that like to feel squeaky clean. 4. La Roche-Posay Anthelios Sunscreen 60 SPF (American) - 3/10 Pros: Doesn’t leave a white cast. Cons: Greasy, broke me out, stung my eyes. Bottom Line: Stick to the European version. 5. La Roche-Posay Anthelios Sunscreen 50+ SPF (European) - 9/10 Pros: Doesn’t leave a white cast, reasonably priced. Cons: texture is a little too runny for my liking. Bonus: LRP donates to skin cancer research. 6. Jordan Samuel Hydrate Facial Serum - 0/10 Pros: Couldn’t try long enough to say. Cons: Gave me a bright red burning skin reaction. Bottom Line: Looks like they changed their formula (for good reason obvi) so I can’t speak for the new version. For who? Those who want an excuse to cancel dinner plans. 7. Mario Badescu Rose Facial Spray - 0/10 Pros: Cheap. Cons: Mist comes out too strong, I don’t like the smell, contains fragrance, citronellol, geraniol and colorants. Bottom Line: Thank goodness it was a gift, because I won’t be buying. 8. The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser - 5/10 Pros: Unscented, affordable. Cons: Made my skin itch and left a residue. Bottom Line: I won’t repurchase. 9. A313 Vitamin A Pommade - 10/10 Pros: My acne reduced, skin texture improved (after two weeks). Thick vasaline texture that locks in the vitamin A. Cons: Slight metallic smell Bottom Line: Worth the hype! I use 2x a week max, alternating with a salicylic acid oil. 10. Youth to the People Superberry Dream Cleansing Balm - 3/10 Pros: Great ingredient list, interesting extracts. Cons: Smells like waxy crayons, crumbly texture that doesn’t melt well into the skin, left a waxy feeling behind. Bottom Line: I’ve tried better. 11. Tata Harper Water-Lock Moisturizer - 2/10 Pros: I liked her organic Vermont farm story and the light gel cream texture. Cons: strong fragrance, contains skin irritants like Alcohol, limonene, citral, citronellol, linalool and orange peel extract. Bottom Line: Don’t use if you have sensitive skin. There is a sunburn warning on the side of the box because it contains AHAs. 12. Saturday Skin Carrot + Niacinamide Moisturizing Cream - 6/10 Pros: Hydrating thick gel cream. Cons: Smells so strong of silicone. Bottom Line: Bought it in Europe, loved it. Bought it in the US, smelled like straight up silicone. Different formula maybe? 13. Glossier Future Dew - 0/10 Pros: Cute packaging. Cons: Made me look like a greasy pizza, broke me out and don’t like the smell. 14. Versed Sunday Morning Antioxidant Oil-Serum – 1/10 Pros: inexpensive. Cons: Does nothing. The biphase ends up looking gross and muddled after a while. 15. Murmure Bisou Clarifying Dry Oil – 10/10 Pros: Cleared my blackheads, sinks into the skin fast. Cons: Contains hazelnut oil so be careful if you have an allergy! Bottom Line: I use it about 2x a week at night (not on the same day as my retinol). My skin is always less red and bumpy in the AM. 16. Typology Glycolic Acid 10% - 3/10 Pros: Affordable (Typology is like the French version of the Ordinary). Cons: Broke me out, 10% glycolic acid is too strong for my skin. 17. Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil – 9/10 Pros: Nice dry oil that soaks in quickly, love the smell (I only use this on my body so the fragrance doesn’t bother me). Cons: Wish it had a dropper or pump to make application less messy. Bottom Line: I put this all over my body after my shower and my skin feels baby soft. 18. Innisfree Daily UV Defense Sunscreen 36 SPF – 5/10 Pros: Good value for money. Cons: Broke me out, a little too oily. Bottom Line: They have changed the formula since I tried it so I cant speak for the new formulation. 19. La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+ - 7/10 Pros: Super soothing and healing. Cons: clogged my pores (avoid if you have acne or milia prone skin). Bottom Line: I would buy again for my eyelid dermatitis that I get every winter For who? Dry, irritated skin. 20. SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic Serum - 8/10 Pros: Brightened and evened my skin tone. Cons: So expensive it hurts! Oxidized at around the 4 month mark. Smells slightly unpleasant. Bottom Line: One of the most effective formulas for vitamin c that Ive tried. Keep it away from light and to close the bottle tightly so it doesn’t oxidize as quickly. 21. Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Ultra-fine Mist – 1/10 Pros: Cute packaging. Cons: Broke me out, overpowering candy fragrance, didn’t hydrate. 22. Pillow Talk Derm Major Fade Flash Mask – 0/10 Pros: I can’t speak to the effectiveness of the product because my skin couldn’t handle it. Cons: Instantly burned my face into a red mess. Bottom Line: 15% glycolic acid was too much for my skin. Make sure to always patch test new products. 23. The Outset Nourishing Squalane Daily Moisturizer – 7/10 Pros: Clean ingredients list, nice light texture. Cons: Not hydrating enough for my skin. Bottom Line: If you have sensitive skin and like a lightweight moisturizer it might be worth a try. 24. Aquaphor Healing Ointment Advanced Therapy – 10/10 Pros: Heals, hydrates/seals in moisture. Cons: Packaging is kinda ugly. Bottom Line: Cult classic for good reason. I’m team Aquaphor over vasaline every day. 25. Skinfix Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream – 10/10 Pros: Super hydrating and nourishing. Nice cream gel texture. Cons: none. Bottom Line: My sensitive skin loves this moisturizer. Even though I have acne prone skin I still prefer their normal triple lipid over their gel version. 26. Saturday Skin Yuzu Vitamin C Sleep Mask – 4/10 Pros: slightly brightening. Cons: Strong smell, contains citrus oils, feels quite sticky. 27. Youth to the People Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream – 3/10 Pros: nice light airy texture. Cons: Has fragrance and limonene. Didn’t do much. Bottom Line: Last time I was at sephora I did notice that the cream is no longer a light green color, so I think they changed the formula. 28. Caudalie Beauty Elixir Face Mist – 0/10 Pros: None. Cons: Doesn’t smell great, does nothing, has alcohol, fragrance, rosemary oil, citral, linalool, citronellol…). Bottom Line: Outdated product imo. 29. Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen 40 SPF – 5/10 Pros: Doesn’t leave a white cast. Cons: Expensive and broke me out. Feels very silicone heavy. like my skin was suffocating. Bottom Line: Sensitive acne prone skin beware. 30. U beauty The Plasma Lip Compound (Rose) – 0/10 Pros: Couldn’t keep it on my lips long enough. Cons: Smells so bad like straight up chemicals. Bottom Line: So disappointing because it was really expensive. 31. Youth to the People Polypeptide-121 Future Cream – 7/10 Pros: Hydrating and plumping. Cons: Started to smell a little funny when I got halfway through the jar. 32. Glow Recipe Papaya Sorbet Enzyme Cleansing Balm – 8/10 Pros: Nice creamy texture that melts into the skin. Smells delicious and removes makeup well. Cons: Leaves a greasy film on my eyes Bottom Line: One of the few glow recipe products that I actually like. 33. Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Dream Face Cream (Night) – 1/10 Pros: lovely texture. Cons: Smells way too strong, like straight up perfume. Has citral, limonene, lemon peel oil and fragrance. Bottom Line: Sensitive skin beware. 34. Typology Niacinamide 12% - 5/10 Pros: Inexpensive. Cons: 12% niacinamide is too strong for my skin. Bottom Line: studies show that your skin reacts best at a 4% concentration. I like to add a little into my moisturizer every so often to dilute it. 35. Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask – 3/10 Pros: Smells delicious (but has fragrance). Cons: Made my lips more dry. I don’t like having to scoop into a jar. Bottom Line: I don’t understand the hype of this product. 36. Clarins Lip Comfort Oil - 9/10 Pros: Not sticky, lasts a while and very shiny. Cons: Wish there was more color payoff and kinda pricey (not doir expensive but getting there). Bottom Line: My fav lip product to date. submitted by /u/Valuable-Moment973 to r/SkincareAddiction [link] [comments]

AITAH for "glowing up" after my divorce and not before?
I (53F) have been divorced from my ex-husband "Larry" (54M) for 6 years. Larry and I have two adult children, "Steve" (27M) and "Carla" (25F). Larry and I met in college when we were both electrical engineering students. We were both very much on the nerdy side and looked the part, but were very attracted to each other (so I thought anyway). We got married soon after we graduated and both worked as engineers, but after a few years Larry decided he wanted to go to law school (to become a patent lawyer). In order to look the lawyer part, Larry underwent a major glow-up during this time on pretty much all levels (tailored clothes, fancy haircuts, designer accessories like watches, etc., along with working out to trade his "dad bod" for a lean gym bod). During this time, I was having/raising our small children, while taking care of about 95% of household matters because of his long working hours, all while working full time. I admit I did not "glow up" along with Larry. My own appearance has always been on the plainer side - I'm not overweight but a bit stocky (5'5"/140 lbs), simply cut hair, glasses, practical clothes, not much makeup. Larry loved me as-is for about the first decade of our relationship, but after he started working as a lawyer, he started to become drawn to more conventionally attractive women and had several affairs. When I pressed for counseling, he said that the issues were things like my big nose and post-baby tummy pooch (not things I could fix with a simple makeover). I was getting organized to ask for a divorce when Carla was hit by a car while riding her bike. She survived and is fine now, but needed several years of intensive surgeries and rehab. In order to provide a unified front for Carla (and Steve), Larry and I agreed to stay married and be as cordial as possible (he continued to see other women during this time, but by this time I was past trying to get him to be faithful). We did separate (and divorce) after Carla went off to college. Larry is remarried now to a much younger woman (33F). In the past couple years, I have actually decided to focus more on myself - including my appearance. Now that my children are grown and out of the house, and I don't have to worry about tiptoeing around a difficult husband, I finally have time and resources to do so. I didn't get a nose job or other plastic surgery like Larry had wanted, but I did update and color my hair, started working out more (lost about 15 pounds), got a new wardrobe, and actually started dating (I don't have a steady partner yet, but regularly go to age-appropriate singles events and go on dates). Unfortunately, my children detest the "new me." In particular, they blame me for the divorce and are angry that I didn't "glow up" to accommodate Larry, saying I was too selfish and lazy to do so "when it mattered." My son Steve is getting married soon, and says he is too angry to invite me to the wedding. Carla has gone low-contact with me. I had great relationships with both of them until I started my own glow-up process a couple years ago, which was a few years after Larry and I finalized our divorce. Steve and Carla have told me that the only way to fix this - the only thing that would be fair - is to go back to the way I was before - meaning stop coloring my hair, dress in my former plain/frumpy way, and stop dating. They say they are most upset about the dating and that it's not fair for me to be looking for a new partner. So, AITAH for everything I have done here - for not improving my appearance until after I got divorced? I really don't think Larry would have been faithful to me no matter how much I twisted myself in knots. I felt I did the best I could given the energy and resources I had, and, while it may seem selfish, I do believe I deserve to have my own life now? But I am open to other opinions if I have done something wrong here. submitted by /u/ThatPeach7311 to r/AITAH [link] [comments]

Just a dad trying to help my daughter organize her makeup/skin care.
Hoping this is allowed here. It says for everything makeup related, so this os the space we have for her bathroom. How do we organize this? She's getting anxiety over getting something, and other stuff is basically falling all over. Are there any organizers (other than random bins) that would help organize this? submitted by /u/eynonpower to r/MakeupAddiction [link] [comments]

When a child get's an organ/limb transplant, will the transplanted organ/limb grow with the child? If so, will the organ/limb grow according to the donor child's body genetic makeup or the recipient's?
