Demo Surprise
Replumbed my whole house with PEX. Carrying over the momentum and decided to redo the master bath since it smelt damp ( I think coming from below tub) and I really hated the tub. This is my first shower tear down. I had no clue there would be so much dang mortar. I’ve emptied 1.5 bathtubs so far. Can’t wait to be done with tear down and onto the build up. Anyone got inspiration for Spanish casita like shower ideas? I’m currently coming up with new design. 1983 SoCal build. submitted by /u/upwd_eng to r/Tile [link] [comments]

Anyway an addition for a walk in closet and bigger master bath can be realistically added?
Is there anyway I can realistically add an addition to this house? It slopes down after the walkway. There’s no room to do a lateral extension. Only addition I can think of is a L-shaped one where the master room and garage is. Theres no walk in closet and the master bath can be a bit bigger. There’s rough in for plumbing in the garage so maybe a laundry room with a mudroom along the back half of the garage? Any ideas is appreciated. submitted by /u/Dudewheresmycah to r/houseplans [link] [comments]

ADA Master Bath help and stairs for a loft.
Hey everyone, this is my 10th custom house plan for a new client, but only my 2nd barndominium, so I’d really appreciate some feedback. I’m sharing Plan 1 (my original layout) and Plan 2 (my rough draft based on her requested changes). This is a barndominium / metal building style home. I based Plan 1 off the ideas she originally gave me, and she actually liked it a lot, but now she wants some changes to make it more future-proof, and I’m getting a little stuck in the master suite / loft area. A few details: She wants no dining table because they plan to use chairs around the island instead. She wants a fireplace on that wall, which takes away some of the dining space. They don’t entertain much, so I think there’s still room for a smaller table later if they ever want one. She wants an enclosed patio on one side. The pantry door is meant to look like part of the kitchen cabinetry, but it actually opens into a walk-in pantry. The main area I’m struggling with is the master suite: She wants an L-shaped shower in the master bath that needs to be wheelchair accessible. She also decided she wants a loft above the master bedroom / bathroom area, so now I need to add stairs in that part of the layout. Because of the bathroom changes, I now have a leftover space that I’m not sure what to do with. I’m wondering if that leftover space could maybe become part of the stair layout. Right now I’m thinking maybe an L-shaped staircase with a landing in the middle, but I’m not sure if that’s the best solution. I’m mainly looking for input on the master bath / loft / stair area. Questions: How would you handle the wheelchair-accessible L-shaped shower in the master bath? What would you do with the leftover space created by the bathroom changes? Would you try to use that area as part of the stairs? Does an L-shaped stair with a middle landing make sense here, or would you approach it differently? I’d really appreciate any layout ideas or suggestions. Thanks! submitted by /u/Striking-Test-3857 to r/houseplans [link] [comments]

My cousin is disgusted at the prospect of having sex with her husband
My cousin is too disgusted by the idea of having sex with her husband My cousin (23f) got married a month ago. It was an arranged marriage. Her husband is a government employee. He is an otherwise nice man and his family has been nothing but warm. But the problem is that the entire family has a questionable sense of hygiene. Her husband in particular is extremely filthy. He doesn't take bath every day and tends to stink awfully. He brushes his teeth in under 10 seconds and has a really bad breath. He also has a constantly runny nose and refuses to use a hankerchief no matter how much she requests him to. When his snot begins to drip, he just wipes it on his sleeve or the back of his hand. He keeps sneezing all day without covering his nose, effectively scattering his snot everywhere. Two days ago, he sneezed and his snot landed on her face. He not only did not apologize but kept laughing at her. He doesn't flush the toilet properly, not even when he is told. My cousin believes that he at times deliberately doesn't flush to torment her. She is also convinced that he doesn't wash his private parts after attending nature's call. My cousin, at this point, is thoroughly disgusted with him. She doesn't even want to share the same bed with him, let alone have sex with him. He has started pressuring her for sex, now that it has already been a few weeks since their wedding and she is running out of excuses. I told her to be honest with him about how she is turned off by his poor hygiene. But she claims that whenever she calls him out on these things, he deliberately acts more filthy to annoy her. He also takes subtle digs at her family's "obsession" with hygeine. All of this has left her entirely disillusioned with any prospect of mediation in this marriage. She wants to divorce him. But her parents have made it clear that she would no longer be welcome if she goes through with the divorce. She was never allowed to complete her master degree and she is struggling to find a job with a mere bachelor's degree. More importantly, she is new to Delhi and doesn't know anybody here. So I'm asking you ladies what she should do at this point. Any practical advice would be greatly appreciated. submitted by /u/Derian23 to r/TwoXIndia [link] [comments]

Master Bath Layout
We are really happy with our new floor plan overall, but the master bath is hanging me up. In the last revision, the water closet was rotated counterclockwise and we had a wet room tub/shower setup, but my partner did not want the wet room, so this was the architect’s next revision. I still do not love the flow, the lack of symmetry, or how tight the shower entrance feels. I am willing to lose the tub if needed, but wanted to see if anyone has ideas first. Also open to any feedback on doors to the bathroom and walk in closet (and normal or pocket). submitted by /u/LittleLamb696 to r/floorplan [link] [comments]

Master Bath Redesign/Remodel Recs
As the headline says. Master bath has some light plumbing issues that will require removing tile floor. Since Im going that far, time to redo the whole room as we always hated the design. Looking/hoping for a “1 stop shop” design and work but open to ideas. So far, folks ive had look at it have just given a price. No discussion of design, options, final product, fixture choices, timelines etc. All the things that would effect cost. We have lots of different ideas of what we could do so its annoying that we have no idea one what these quotes really mean. Quotes have also been a wild range, varying by over 50%. Need help with master bath design ideas
Hi! Not sure if this is the right sub for this but I'm getting my master bath remodeled and I'm stumped for ideas for what to do for color scheme. First picture is whats there currently followed by some ideas I've generated through chat gpt and some stuff I saw at the tile store. Generally I like upscale hotel vibes. I saw this gorgeous blue tile with gold streaks at the tile store but I worry that it wont really fit with the rest of the bathroom. My fall back option is neutral creams or greys but I was hoping to do something more inspired than that. The tub will still be a built in, just with a smaller profile. The left side will have a makeup vanity and the right side will be empty, I'll put towel warmer, hooks, trash can, scale, etc in that alcove. Only other change is that the wall with the sink will be bumped forward to accommodate a bigger walk in closet on the other side submitted by /u/yourfavoritedentist to r/Remodel [link] [comments]

Master bath reno: do you guys actually use the fancy steam shower feature?
We’re finally starting to look at plans for the master bath remodel. The current setup is a complete disaster, the original tile from like the 90s is cracked in three different places, and the vanity is so low it makes me feel like a giant every morning. We’ve been debating adding one of those steam shower systems. My partner is obsessed with the idea, but I’m worried it’s just going to be another "cool" feature that we use twice and then it just sits there collecting hard water stains. Has anyone here actually had one for a while? Is it worth the extra plumbing headache and the cost, or should we just put that money into better lighting and higher-end tile? I just want a shower that doesn’t feel like a chore to keep clean. Update: Thanks for the replies so far. Seems like a lot of you think it’s overkill, so we’re skipping the steam shower. We’ve booked a meeting with the renovation team at Bath and Kitchen Galleria in Alpharetta this weekend. We need experts who can handle the whole master bath project from design to install, and seeing their portfolio and materials in person should help us stop guessing at everything online. submitted by /u/Xo_Obey_Baby to r/BathroomRemodeling [link] [comments]

Door ideas for master bath
https://imgur.com/a/YOUtSVG My master bath doesn’t have a door. Previous owners took off the door and the stops so as you can see the frame is just smooth all around, can’t even see where the hinges or the strike plate used to be. I can DIY but carpentry is a little beyond me. Would love to hear some ideas on what kind of door to put into this tight space (note the shower door and the bedroom door allow for limited room to swing the bathroom door) or how to install something on this without ripping out the frame and starting from scratch. submitted by /u/Wilhelm38 to r/HomeImprovement [link] [comments]

My wife and I want to redo our master bathroom but we don't have any ideas how. Could someone possibly re-design our bathroom to make it more functional? I will tip $20+ to the best one, and possibly more.
This is our least favorite room in the house. What we hate most about it Tiny shower that we can barely move in The door swinging into us while we're at the sink. Not enough storage/no medicine cabinet (only storage under the sink) Things we want Larger shower Somewhere to store bathroom products Medicine cabinet Some solution to not being hit by the door when we're at the closest sink We don't necessarily need a bath, so I'm thinking a shower could take the place of the bath. I have included the dimensions of the room as well as a 3D replica to show where the plumbing and partitions are. Could anyone design a better room? I will tip $20 for anyone takes the effort to create a 3D design I love, but if someone could even price out the project and include brand names or links with brands of shower / sink / whatever then I will pay whatever we agree is fair. Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/DiligentGuitar246 to r/DesignMyRoom [link] [comments]

I feel like we have to buy my brother in law a house
So two years ago my husband and I moved into my in-laws empty basement. This was a proactive move so that we could pay off debt, afford to finish my undergrad, and afford to have children. We have construction/renovation experience so we made the basement a studio apartment at our expense. Before we moved it the basement had roaches, black mold and mice. Since we've moved in we've ripped out three rotten decks, built a new one, built a new privacy fence, and gut renovated the master bath (it had extensive water damage from a long standing leak that they'd never gotten looked at and the floor was collapsing. My in-laws couldn't afford to pay a contractor for anything) Plus any time my in-laws go out of town we watch their kids and three pets. Since we're not paying rent, we've largely helped with the material construction costs and done all of the labor for free (while both working full time and trying to do college). About a year and a half ago it became clear that my husband's brother was going to lose his house. He had made a series of questionable financial decisions and then ended up losing his job. I have a sister in law who has a house and lives by herself. She said if my husband and I could build them a bedroom then this brother and sister-in-law and their child could come live with her. So in the span of a month (that was all the notice we were given) we renovated my sister-in-law's basement and put in a bedroom. Once they moved in, it took my brother in law over a year of job hunting to find a job. So they were almost completely reliant on family to pay their bills at this for that year. Family ended up paying off most of their credit card debt for them. My husband and I have also "loaned" them a couple thousand dollars that we knew we were never going to see again. My brother-in-law was finally able to land an ok job, but the people who were renting his house, were supposed to buy it from them. Instead of buying the house, the renters trashed it and now no one else will rent it and they're once again stuck with a mortgage they can't afford (the house is on the other side of the country). They've been trying unsuccessfully to sell it, but until it sells all of their income is going towards a mortgage of a house in a different state that they can't afford and can't live in. And his wife is a stay at home Mom of their toddler, so she doesn't have an income. Now the sister-in-law who owns the house is being forced to sell it (it's complicated) and so my brother and sister-in-law with the toddler have to move out by April at the latest. But they have no money/savings, and since they can't sell their house they're thinking they're just going to surrender it to the bank- which would ruin their credit score. Now, my husband and I are finally at the point where our debts are paid, cars are almost paid off and we're starting to have a decent amount of savings. So we were thinking about moving out and buying a little affordable bungalow in an ok part of town in the next year. But my husband has a tendency to want to take care of his family, so he floated the idea of "What if we bought a bigger house and let brother, sister-in-law and toddler live with us?". And brother-in-law's job is currently paying for him to go back to school for a master's degree, so in theory, in a few years he'll have the ability to make a lot more money. But the next few years are going to be extremely tight financially for them and he's going to be gone at work/school from 8am-9pm most week days (they have one car). Well I told my husband that I don't want to buy a big house and split it with his brother and so my husband and I haven't brought up the topic again. But my brother and sister-in-law in law have kept bringing it up- and I knew their financial situation wasn't great- but until last night I didn't understand why they had latched into the idea so hard. Last night we found out that my sister-in-law is pregnant. She's due in the fall. And they brought up the my husband and I buying a big house for us to live in again last night. And I know that now, if we don't go through with it my sister in law will be stuck in a tiny apartment (they can't afford much on his current salary) with two kids under four, no car and no support. Because my brother-in-law is gone from 8am-9pm on weekdays. But I'm nearing my 30s and I wanted to finish up my schooling and have a good nest egg so that we could have a couple of kids. That was literally the whole point of living in my in-laws basement for years and scrimping and saving. But if we buy a house that's twice as big as we need, I'm going to have to work more (I was planning to drop down to part-time to focus on school) and our own nest egg will be smaller. My window of time to have kids is slowly closing, but I feel backed into a corner on this. Although my husband originally floated the idea in the first place, once he ran the numbers he expressed that it wouldn't make much financial sense for us and is annoyed at his brother for pushing the house thing. You can give advice if you want to. I don't know, I just feel so defeated at this point and just needed someone to tell. My husband's family is very religious and my husband and I aren't. So we're kind of the black sheep of the family while this brother and sister-in-law are held in high esteem and praised because they're having babies. So it feels like the whole family expects us to do this. But we've only just gotten ourselves into a decent financial situation. And I didn't have kids even though I wanted them because I couldn't afford them. But for these two "God will provide" because they're good and faithful but I don't want to play God. I can't believe they're having a second kid. submitted by /u/upside_down_circles to r/Vent [link] [comments]

Brother wants me to cover entire rent since I get “free” money
My brother and I have been living together for nearly 4 years now. We share a 2 bed 2 bath apartment. I am a us army veteran who gets monthly compensation from the VA. When we first moved in, I was rated at 80% and both work full time. To help my brother out, we agreed to a 60/40 split of rent with me getting the master bedroom as a bonus. Over the next few years, I got a higher paying job and was increased to a 90% after several appeals. Once my brother found out, he asked if we could go 70/30 on the rent now but I said no but agreed to now cover the utility bills. Well now I currently have an appeal that if granted, will push me to 100%. Any veteran will tell you this a huge deal which can fully provide for me. Well my brother now says if I get to 100 then I should just pay for the entire rent. He reasons that if I’m getting 4k a month in government money then that is more than enough to cover the rent for us both so we are free to save our money from our regular jobs. I don’t feel like this is a good deal but despite my argument, my whole family is rallying behind my brother, saying how I should take on the entire rent if I can because “family looks out for each other.” While I love my family I feel this is still unfair. My uncle says that if he had the benefits I had then he wouldn’t hesitate to cover rent and allow everyone to save their money. Fearing this issue may get nasty, I took advice from a fellow veteran who said I should just lie and say I got denied or even better, say I got reduced so I’m getting less now. However knowing my family they’re going to want to see proof of my denial or reduction in benefits if that’s what happens. What should I do? And telling my brother to move out and find a different roommate is going to end up with the entire family coming after me even harder. This has more to do with our family and cultural expectations so the idea of kicking my brother out would be viewed the same as you living your 10 year old child out because they won’t get a job. Update: someone suggests I can edit or photo shop a letter saying I’m being reduced. As much as this would hurt me to lie, what does everyone think both this idea? Any resources or other vets out there that knows where I can do this? submitted by /u/jtreddit702 to r/WhatShouldIDo [link] [comments]

Master bath disagreement
Me and my husband are buying a bigger home in the next few months. The house has a half bath on the main floor and a full bathroom on the top floor where the three bedrooms are. Theres a very large laundry room by the master bedroom that has two doors, one to the hallway and a door leading to the master. I mentioned to my husband the room was so big it would be nice to make it into two rooms and have the one side be a master bathroom since theres already a door leading into the master. He hates the idea, insists its ridiculous, a waste of money and says makes zero sense to have a master bathroom so close to the main bathroom. He says no one would agree it makes sense, that I could ask anyone and they would all agree it's stupid. I told him master bathrooms are incredibly common. He says " yeah with two doors ,one to main area and one to the master" ... I said no.. a master bathroom thats private and just for us to use, not the kids or guests. So help me settle a debate. Am I wrong? Are private master bathrooms not a thing? He insists because the main bathroom is just across the hall that it's ridiculous to have a master bathroom as well. submitted by /u/Physical_Complex_891 to r/homedesign [link] [comments]

Placement of stool or pouf in master bath
We would like to have a place to sit for putting on shoes in our master bath, and I'm hoping you all can help me with what placement looks best. My original (and favorite) idea was to have a round ottoman or pouf in the center of the rug, like the pictures labeled 1, but worry about putting something in front of the tub since the tub is the focal point of the room. We would choose a slightly larger pouf with a low profile and flat top if we put it here. Next is option 2, which feels like it makes the room smaller by visually pointing out where the room ends rather than allowing the mirror to double the room. I like the idea of putting a pouf by the wall to the shower as in option 3, but it be might be making the room too "heavy" on that side, where putting a stool there as in option 4 is better/less heavy on that side of the room. What are your thoughts on placement? submitted by /u/gingerlish to r/interiordecorating [link] [comments]

My husband said something the other day and it didn't hit me until just now...
Friday morning I was rushing to get ready for work and while I was putting on my makeup, my husband kept coming in and joking around and I remember thinking, "man, I really lucked out that we're 10 years in and on any given Friday workday morning I'm having the best time of my life." I didn't know it at the time, but that wasn't the best part of that morning. Y'all. I've been on reddit for like 6 years and I've seen some shit. I literally thank my stars multiple times a day because I have a partner that respects me in all the right ways. I won't say more about him because words can't convey how much I love this man... because the things I see in reddit SO MANY TIMES A DAY is disheartening for both women and men... but especially women. Anyway back to the story. I was putting on my makeup just now and went to go do my eyes I the big wall-mirror we had next to the tub. And I remembered something my husband said as we were talking on Friday morning. He said "hey, I've been meaning to ask you... would you like it if we installed a light bar around this mirror because I notice you go over to wall mirror to do your makeup sometimes." And we then had a discussion over whether or not to install a ring light on the sink mirror somehow but that's not the point. The point is, he has noticed the tiniest, most trivial movement in my routine and questioned himself on how he can make life better for me in the smallest of ways. And he does this shit all. The. Time. This is a man who will stop the car to pick ne a flower on the side of the road. Who notices my interests and surprises me with presents. He writes me love letters. He remembers my order for that taco place. Encourages me to better myself. Spends his day off doing house chores and kitty litter. And damn. Dat ass doe. And the cheekbones...lord his mama gave him great genes... I always wish I could go back and tell my younger self, "wait, it gets better. Don't settle." We met in our 30s. I'll be 42 this upcoming year. Ancient, I know, but I still feel like I'm 19. So if you're 19 or 20, or fuck even 30 (and you've read all this way in my nonsensical old-stoner-lady ramblings) take this away: "wait, it gets better. Don't settle." If you are looking for a partner (or even if you're not - this applies to you too!), there are people out there like my guy. He's just a dude. There's nothing special about us. Well this is kind of embarrassing cause it seemed like a good idea but now it feels like a diary entry and I'm not sure how to end it. But dammit I stand by it even if it makes one person hopeful about being treated better. TL;DR: I have a great partner, felt like bragging on him to inspire hope, and we're still undecided about whether to install better lighting in the master bath. Edit: I'm a lazy person and the amount of attention this is getting is more than I bargained for because I bargained for literal no attention. I spend my Sundays getting stoned, watching documentaries, and cooking. Man in question is napping and has no idea I did this lol. If I don't respond to your comment. I wish you the best, YOU ARE WORTH IT, and BE HAPPY. Edit 2: I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who commented and/or gave awards. Don't need to give me anything, just go forth and be nice to someone today :) Also I wanted to apologize if I offended anyone with my age comment. It was totally tongue in cheek because I love being my age; life has never been better! I also wanted to apologize if I sounded humble braggy, that was not my intention at all but I am sorry if I made anyone feel less than. I was overwhelmed with all the negative posts about relationships and didn't think my word vomit post about my partner would get any attention. But it does make me happy that there were a few people who took something away from it. Thank you all again and I'm sorry if I don't comment reply to everyone! Oh, dude in question is wholly unimpressed that a reddit post about him got more attention than one with a picture of one of our cats. submitted by /u/GirlNamedTex to r/TwoXChromosomes [link] [comments]

AITA For telling my sister she's free to criticize my work as soon as she accomplishes anything in life without our parents holding her hand?
While our parents loved me (30F) and my younger sister, Olivia (27F), we were not treated equally or held to the same standards. I always was expected to be a hardworking, accountable child and make responsible choices. But Olivia was encouraged to have fun, and our parents bailed her out whenever she made an irresponsible decision. For example, when Olivia performed poorly in school due to not making an effort, they would pay tutors to do her homework. But if I genuinely struggled in a subject, they would tell me to figure it out myself. Their justification was that Olivia was the baby sister, and she needed more help and attention than I did. But they have still clung to this excuse when Olivia is well into adulthood. I still love my parents, but due to their favoritism, I am honestly closer with my husband's parents than with my own. My parents helped financially with the first two years of college then I had to cover the rest of my bachelor's and master's degrees by myself. They financially supported all of Olivia's education. Olivia wanted to become an RN, just like our mother and grandma. But she could not pass most of her general education courses and eventually dropped out because she said it was too hard for her. Olivia then convinced our parents to invest a massive amount of money in her to begin a business. She owned a store that sold things like candles and bath bombs, but the store went bankrupt after a year. Currently, Olivia is unemployed and living with our parents; She claims she is "figuring herself out," which means she is mainly partying and spending time with her high school friends. Olivia is upset because many of her old friends are no longer in the area. She will call me to express her disappointment because her friends are moving on with lives and families of their own, and they have less and less time for her. I tell Olivia I am sorry to hear that and that I have to hang up soon. We celebrated my son's second birthday with a family dinner. I was talking with my aunt-in-law about my students. I work as a creative writing tutor on the side to pick up some extra money. I help my students with world-building and whatever else they need help with in their stories. My students are all passionate people with genuinely good ideas. And it feels as if we're just having a conversation. Olivia joined and asked a few questions, then commented, "Not like you would ever be able to make it big yourself. No offense, sis." I responded, "Livvy, a quick reminder that you have accomplished nothing in your life without mom or dad holding your hand. As soon as you do, you can criticize my work all you'd like." Olivia was, of course, offended and started causing a scene. My parents and a few other relatives said my response was cruel, and I was out of line to say it. But my husband and his family say that Olivia invited it after insulting me first, so I am conflicted about if I am in the wrong. I am hoping for some unbiased perspectives. Edited to add: Several of you asked if Olivia had a learning disability or another impairment that caused her to struggle academically. Olivia has never even been suspected of having a learning disability, much less diagnosed. I explained Olivia performed poorly due to a lack of effort because she would either skip classes constantly or take twenty-minute bathroom breaks every class period. Olivia was and still is intellectually capable of succeeding academically, but I believe Olivia has never learned how to apply herself and not give up when things become challenging. submitted by /u/Meansisteraita to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

Master Bath Remodel w/ vanity and mailbox build.
First the pics. https://imgur.com/a/HFpaO4s So back in January while re caulking the tub in the master bath, I had the bright idea that I could remodel the whole thing by myself for cheap. For reference I’m “handy” but never have done any major projects like this, usually just changing light fixtures, fixing small leaks, bad outlets, etc. Well 8 months later, a lot of money in mistakes and tools later, and she’s finished. I really believe now that with Confidence, Reddit, YouTube and just the right amount of help from experienced folks when you really are in over your head, anyone can do almost any home improvement project. Happy to share. submitted by /u/Smewhyme to r/DIY [link] [comments]

Designing new master bathroom. What do you love/hate about your master bath? What do you wish you had? What can't you live without?
We're doing a major renovation and addition to a home we bought. The work is being done by a professional custom home builder. I haven't found a good master post for bathroom design ideas. Not sure if this belongs elsewhere but I've always been happy with the advice I've found on this sub. Anyway, I'd welcome any ideas or advice on bathroom design, layout, materials, hardware, features, etc. that would help us come out with an awesome bathroom. What do you love in your bathroom? What do you wish you had? For background, we are an engaged couple in early 30s with no kids. House will be a little over 2000 sq ft with 4 beds and 2.5 baths. Master suite is on the second floor. We prefer showers and are not really into bathtubs (there will be a tub/shower in the guest bathroom). We work opposite shifts so one of us is often getting ready for work/bed while the other sleeps. Thanks in advance! Edit: Thank you all very much for your advice! The number and quality of responses exceeded my expectations. You're the best! submitted by /u/ace_rockolla_1 to r/HomeImprovement [link] [comments]

TIFU By not listening to my Cat
Ok, first post. Good luck me. Last year I got a kitten as a Christmas Gift last year. I named her Cecilia (Cissy for short) and all she wanted to do was sit in my lap. She was this precious little gray ball of chill. So chill, it was suspicious. The next day, found out why... SHE BLIND And it made me love her so much more. Turns out the backyard breeder they got her from had children who thought it was a good idea to open the eyes of all the newborn kittens for fun before they were ready and more than half the litter went blind. After other families and I told them about the kittens, and after threatening to get the law involved, they decided they will no longer be breeding. Over the next few day despite her disability, Cissy Showed Amazing Intelligence. With in a week she mastered climbing off and on the bed, finding her litterbox and responding when called. She could even play fetch with the plastic rattle balls! Knows when the dreaded bath time is. Within a month she knew how to navigate the house and get into trouble like a normal, healthy, ANNOYING cat. She had a particular habit that drove me insane. To keep her food from the dog, I placed her dish on the nightstand and surrounded the ground with pillows. When the bowl was empty, she would shove the bowl off the nightstand and past the pillows so it made a very large BANG. This drove me nuts. I would tape it to the desk and she'd RIP it off the stand and send it flying. She did this so much and so often I gave up and bought a huge jug feeder and water so I wouldn't have to fill up her bowl as much or hear the bang. She loved it. They more food she could shovel into her mouth the better. The dog stayed away and got her own food jug too. I felt like a winner. Now, my dog has got constant morning breathe. I had forgotten this. Its gross so to combat it, I put additives in the water to freshen it between her dental cleanings. I added to the water jug bowl no problem. Cissy must have loved it. Keep rubbing her face against the bowl. Even played in the water from the looks of it. Later that week she went crazy. Every night she screamed and was crying by her feeder. Usually she wants out of the room. I scoot her out. More screaming. Only stops when I hold her. Purr city. Everyday she goes to her water dish plays in the dish and harasses me with love. Not in a cute way. HARRASSES ME WHILE SOAKING WET headbutts super hard screams until she's on my lap. In my face every second of every day and soaking the bed. I thought she was having separation issues. Then my fiancee noticed bumps on the back of her skull. Tumor? This young? Maybe it's making her go insane. I was gunna take her to the vet tomorrow. Tonight I was worried if she was eating or not. Her food bowl was empty and I figured she could have some of my dinner until I bought her more tomorrow. Roast chicken and stuff no big deal. As we walk back to the room she goes up to the feeder and scoots it. She's trying to shove the food bowl for more of her food. She never lost the habit. Then it hit me. She doesn't like water but she plays in the dish... She is screaming for attention... The bump on her head feels boney... OH MY GOD I go straight to the kitchen and fill a bowl with tap water and set it on the ground in front of her and she destroyed it. Almost taking gulps. Now she's in bed, quiet and resting. She was dehydrated. The bumps were her bones. She hates the fresh stuff I put in for the dog. She wasn't playing in the water, she was scooting it away. She tried to use her paws and got drenched in the process then came to me for help. Since it's too big to scoot, no bang. NO BANG = NO ME TO FIX IT NO ME TO FIX IT = CISSY MAKE BANG WITH MEOW TL;DR I thought my cat was being annoying but she was trying to tell me in her own way that she was VERY thirsty and didnt like the additive water I was giving her. UPDATE: CISSY IS DOING GREAT! Omg, I had no idea that my late night confession would get any attention at all! Holy cow! So many questions! I'll try to answer as many as I can! First, Cat tax: https://www.reddit.com/r/teefies/comments/9lpr1a/this_is_my_precious_cissy_look_at_those_teefies/?utm_source=reddit-android Q: Did you take her to the vet? Is she ok? How are her kidneys? A: took her to the vet anyway this morning. She's healthy and not dehydrated as I thought. She was drinking the water she just doesn't like it. She's very healthy. Kidneys safe. Shes actually getting kind of chubby. Q: What did you use? A: it's called dental fresh for dogs and cats. I've used this before with previous cats and they never cared before. I will no longer be using attitives and give my dog treats and toys more breath friendly. I usually take her in for professional cleanings as often as I can. Q: did you move her food away from the water? Did you give her more wet food? A: her food is on the other side of the room from her water, next to the dogs. She does drink from it now. Without the additives and as for wet food... shes very picky with wet food. Hates it. Even canned tuna. Wont touch it at all so from now on to get more water in her she will be having a chicken dinner 2-3 times a week with me. Q: you bathe your cat alot? A: yes, she cannot groom herself very well and is a messy eater and drinker. She also drools when petted. She needs to be washed once a month and have her face wiped down almost daily. Thank you so much for the advice and support! I will be listening to her much more closely from now on! submitted by /u/Kitty102293 to r/tifu [link] [comments]
