RE:2026 Lawn and Garden Thread
NOVAwolf said... (original post) Freeze warning up here. Third time I've had to cover the hydrangea this season. We moved my mother-in-law's Meyer lemon tree out of the garage a couple of weeks ago. Usually, April 15th is close to the last freeze here in North Alabama. Although there has been significant snow here around April 11th or so, back in the mid-1980s.

RE:One of my favorite things
We had a Texas Hawthorn in the far corner of our backyard. The bees would buzz so loud you could hear it as you walked in the backyard. It sounded like a transformer about to go out. Our Meyer lemon tree, when it was about 15 feet had the bees like that. They never bothered us, but it was unnerving being outside and hearing that sound

Struggling Meyer lemon tree
Can anyone tell what I’m doing wrong with this tree? I’ve had it for over year and it’s never grown a lemon. It grows tiny ones, but then they always die before they even get to the size of a marble. Now the leaves have turned a very pale green and are curling in on themselves. I don’t water it too often, because when I do, it always seems like it loses some leaves directly after. Any help would be appreciated! submitted by /u/micro_square to r/Citrus [link] [comments]

Meyer lemon tree help
I bought this Meyer lemon tree as a very small plant at Lowe’s 4 years ago. It’s never flowered and is VERY LEAFY and totally covered in thorns. Other Meyer lemon plants I’ve seen produce fruit look entirely different than mine. 🤔I feel like it being this leafy is not a good thing? I live in WA state (zone 8b) I do keep it in our garage during winter where it seems to stay dormant? My husband is confident that this plant will never produce us a single lemon but I don’t want to give up on her lol. Suggestions? submitted by /u/Some-Pair-7719 to r/Citrus [link] [comments]

Costco Meyer Lemon tree is a hot mess. What do I do?
Hi all. I bought this Costco meyer a week ago. I shoved into my compact sedan and left it outside for a few days. It immediately began dropping all its flowers and what I think were tiny fruit. It has lost quite a few leaves, too. Then, i gave it a half gallon of water. I had a nightmare that I killed it. I have citrus potting soil and fertilizer on the way. My mom says I should not do any pruning or repotting for a long time to let it get healthier. submitted by /u/FabulousTwo524 to r/Citrus [link] [comments]

An entitled Karen was caught harvesting my Meyer lemons.
This posh lady walking with her pampered pet and Gucci bag was harvesting my Meyer lemons. I drive up and she is about 40 feet in my yard. She says she is visiting her sister and loves these lemons. She has a plastic grocery bag full of my lemons. I tell her off and take the bag. She demands the bag back so I take out the lemons and give her the empty bag. She and her husband (Rolex) come back an hour later when I am watering the lawn. He is like just give us the lemons. At no point, do they offer to buy them. My wife comes out with my 3 kids and says lemon harvesting time and then Ice Cream. They watch my kids and wife start picking the lemons, while I explain to the husband and wife that they are on my property. Softly, that this is a concealed carry state (Texas). Loudly, I ask my wife to call the police, and this is small town. They stammer when almost immediately, Sam (police) pulls up, when it turns out my nosy neighbor had called him. She then says she got some last year and the previous owner did not complain. We must of been on vacation since I planted the lemon tree. Sam brings out the pen and pad then proceeds to ask if this is a statement. She starts to talk when the husband says, this is a misunderstanding and we are not making any statements. He apologized and gently but firmly gets her into a car. Sam, says well that would have been a lot of paperwork but she could have used a free ride downtown. I would give a lot of lemons to have been a fly on the wall in that Land Rover.😂 We had so many lemons that year I would have sold some. Edit: spelling. Sorry English is my first language 😂. The other languages are for restaurants or computers. submitted by /u/Elbrute to r/EntitledPeople [link] [comments]

First Meyer Lemon tree, have the blooms been pollinated?
Hello, First time poster, first time grower (except some herbs that didn’t work out). I live in Texas, I bought an Improved Meyer Lemon from Sam’s this Spring, and a couple weeks later it had blossoms on it! A few days later, after a rain(?) the blossoms were gone with no trace. It started blooming again a few weeks ago (late November), but I don’t see many pollinators outside, and I bring it inside when the temps drop to about 45F. I was going to pollinate myself with a brush, but haven’t had the chance yet, although there was a large moth climbing around on the blooms a few nights ago :) (does that count)? I was wondering what the flowers look like when they are successfully pollinated? Does anyone have a photo? I have a couple photos of some of my flowers and what they look like after dropping their petals. Are those green bulbs at the base new going to be Lemons? Or did I fail? Thank you!! https://preview.redd.it/8u6x8lsd85cc1.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5329bb3c9582a6121864b147501a883c19f97a13 https://preview.redd.it/rz9h6msd85cc1.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=47d62154d7e9c12712b4910e2e054ac0d373b322 submitted by /u/Illustrious-Oil-2923 to r/gardening [link] [comments]

Our lemon tree produced very deep orange fruit this year, and they are all generally smaller and rounded than the fruit from our other lemon tree. The orange lemons are not smooth like Meyer lemons and are bumpier in texture than the yellow lemons. What is this fruit??

Just bought my first Meyer Lemon tree. What should I know?
I just got my new Meyer Lemon tree back home. I put it in my sunniest window for now, but I doubt it will be enough. I am in zone 6b in the midwest, so I'm hoping to get it through winter and put it outside when it gets warm. Does anyone have any recommendations for grow lights? Anything obvious (or not) I should know so I can keep it happy? submitted by /u/droopdawg48 to r/Citrus [link] [comments]
