AITA for getting upset that my partner got a newborn photoshoot without me? I (34M) got upset that my partner (34F) had a newborn shoot done for our second child without me. My partner’s best friend is a photographer and did our first child’s photoshoot, which we paid for. It included me, my partner, the new baby even the dog. Fast forward two years, and baby number two arrives. Her friend offers to do a photoshoot for free as a gift for us having the baby. We were delighted.One Friday, I head off to work, and just after lunch I get a message from my partner on Messenger. It’s a few sample photos from the newborn shoot that her friend decided to come and do without me. The photos included my partner, both boys, and the dog. I was only a short distance away and could have easily come home for the shoot, but no one thought to contact me I brought it up and was shot down for being too sensitive, and was told there would be other family shoots as the kids get older. My wife reached out to a family friend of hers to have her do a newborn photo shoot for our first child we had not too long ago. The photographer showed up to my mother in laws house with my wife, took pictures for an hour of our daughter using a professional setup and left. She informed my wife that the turnaround time was 2 weeks and she would send us an online gallery where we can access and download our photos. Here is a sample of the pictures we received. Our daughter was not in any of these positions during the photo shoot and the setting was not at all the same either, not even the clothes. The photographer stated they offer " pro image editing" but I'm pretty sure these were edited or generated using AI, specifically Google Gemini based on the watermark from the second page. Also there is this uncanny valley look on our daughter's face that makes her look like a doll is the best way I can describe it. I hate our newborn photoshoot
We got back our newborn session and I hate all the pictures. My baby had just turned 3 weeks and was all of a sudden being so fussy, we barely got any pictures of her because she was screaming her head off the ENTIRE time. Even in the pictures that we got holding her she’s turned away from the camera because she was screaming. She was born early and I didn’t have the nursery ready yet, so no cute pictures in there. I hate the way I look. I was so exhausted as I was running around trying to get everything together last minute, to make sure she was fed right before, and also do my makeup, and figure out what to wear, and what my husband should wear, and get her into her outfit. My husband was so not into it so he was giving me a hard time during the entire session. He spent half the session in the bathroom. We don’t even have a family picture of the 3 of us! I feel horrible. I’m incredibly sad. I know it’s superficial but all I wanted were cute newborn photos of my first baby It’s my first baby! I’m upset because it feels like I wasted money but I’m even more upset because I’ll never get that time back.
