I just enjoy how over-the-top everything is, with Player who seems to have taken notes from Gogofive's mecha, Mommy covered in chains, the Prototype who looks like he came out of a creepy Transformers comic, Doey as the best general you'll ever meet, etc. With all their campiness, they have a lot of personality. I just finished watching Mark’s Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 stream and was kinda disappointed. It was a little unfortunate how much he disliked it, he seemed to not pay attention to the lore even if not the deep lore he seemed to not really care about the story at all. He seemed to be really focused on the mechanics and how they were a mess. He had some valid points about the game but its unfortunate that he’s giving up on the series. The other thing I found kinda interesting was how he said none of the player motivations make sense anymore considering the fact that he is still playing Garten of Banban which in my opinion has been much less coherent. Edit: after reading the comments it seems I have only fueled the fire. Obviously the game has flaws but after reading some other posts it looks like people have started to hate on the game after the stream. #1 we were not in poppy’s perspective being dropped in the poppy gel. Based on the angle of being held we are clearly still the player because the prototype couldn’t grab poppy’s torso. You also don’t see a human body on the floor. The speech we heard in the gel is also personal only to us so it couldn’t have been poppy. What happened in the prototype planned to drown us and use us later for expirements, but Gilbert pulled us out. If an outimal could carry us across a room that Gilbert could pull us out. However we had partially drowned so he pulled us out to around where we were last and restarted our heart. You can see where we were dropped behind us. Poppy gel also has healing properties which is why we survived being stabbed. Also amber confirmed it was the player. #2 the doctor backup isn’t the actual doctor but a copy. Through notes we learned the doctor discovered those plants could copy the mind, and it was how they made so many living toys with a limited supply of orphans. However we also find these two notes that read as such. “Leith, Given the*** sensitive*** nature of this subject, I suggest we make use of the neural mapper. We can run the process in parallel with normal procedure, having one of the resulting versions put to work, and the other stored somewhere for safe keeping. Hell, shove it in with the computer servers and call it a day, no need to be fancy about it. -Dr. White Do it. -LP” And: “MASTER BACKUP? Data archive. Stores a wealth of information: Procedures, methods, us, myself. Our strengths. Our flaws. Backup version is identical to the working version (unclear which is original, or if it matters) Too valuable to erase. Need to keep as leverage. KEEP STORED IN DATA CENTER, JUST IN CASE” So clearly this is a just a mind copy of the doctor, and the real doctor is dead, we did destroy his brain. However since the cameras were still following us he probably knows everything. #3 Lily is ms Gracie. Some people think she’s a mind copy but that was to foreshadow the doctor. Now it’s a bit confusing but basically ms Gracie was captured by baba chops and the prototype turned her into Lily, who materials were gathered but the making of the toy was only scheduled until after the hour of joy, thus giving the prototype everything he needed. He then trapped her in sweet street, which was originally designed for other toys (probably including the candy cat in her hair) to see how they’d interact in such an environment, and to try to stabilize them. She was forced to watch her own videos until she went and lost her identity. She was also trapped with her body, which we know she ain’t actually dead because of the extra info from her id card, and the fact that you can see a hole in the skull where the brain was taken from. #4 kissy and huggy are most likely dead. You can see huggy move a bit after sure, but it’s very likely they just bled to death, as thy weren’t dipped in poppy gel in time. So they are dead. #5 the prototype and poppy are immortal because they are made out of the gel. They are special, the only truly perfect experiments. Unlike others they can’t be killed and they don’t need to eat or drink. We have always known poppy and the prototype were different and special, and now we know they are also the only ones created by Elliot. The prototypes goal is to create other immortal toys so he won’t live forever all alone. We can tell this by things he says such as: “Everything dies Poppy*•• everything except us.” “And plotting to destroy the only heaven you and I will ever get.” “Your orpnans can never be free. The work must continue. Otherwise, we’ll be left with nothing, and infinity will be lonely.” And from chapter 4: “It's always been about you and me, Poppy. What we ARE.” Also if it’s not clear/ you didn’t see the tape: the prototype was a boy named Oliver/ Ollie adopted by Elliot Ludwig to test on before his daughter, probably as a jack in the box, and he was left discarded for poppy leaving him jealous and realize he was just a test run. He also killed Elliot probably according to a note by Leith. and probably was the dead boy in the duffle bag from chapter 3. Kissy was undoubtedly the bravest, most courageous character in the franchise not including the Player. No matter how scared she was, she always pushed on in order to help her friends. Even when it meant dying. She was mutilated and her body was hanging by threads, and yet she still fought. When the Prototype blew the floor up underneath us, she immediately thought of saving US, not herself, us. This is after she was already heavily injured, she lost her arm in an attempt to save us. When Poppy was hurt by the Prototype, she didn't care how hurt she herself was. While heavily injured, she was brave enough to take on the strongest experiment of all who's been ruling the factory with an iron fist for 10 years. Same for when Huggy was killed by him, she tried to fight the Prototype again. She didn't care how strong he was and how injured she was, she was still willing to die to protect the ones she loves, and she put up a great fight. Not only this all, but while she was already dealing with her own psychological problems she was there for Poppy and for us, always offering a shoulder to cry on, and holding us to protect us no matter the threat, as long as it meant we would survive she put herself between us and all kinds of danger. Toy. Join me friends on the deepest Poppy Playtime theory I've ever embarked on. The thing that finally secured this was the statement from Lily Lovebraids immediately after she kidnaps you. "Can you be a good toy and bring me the crumpets from the oven in the basement?" This could easily be a metaphor- Lily is using "toy" as a humorous replacement for "sweetheart" and as we see in Miss Gracie's tapes she repeatedly reinforces to the toys (including her toyified self) that toys are ideal creatures. "Be a toy" = be a good boy/girl. But as we've seen in Poppy Playtime, "metaphors" are literal. See chapter 4: The Doctor: "I'll bury myself *so far down** that no one will ever find me. Not you. Not The Prototype. Not anyone."* Poppy: "You... What did you do with Ollie?"\ Ollie: "I'm right here, Poppy. For you, I'll ALWAYS be here." Poppy: "This-- This isn't right... All those years... Was there ever an Ollie?" The Prototype: "Yes, there was. But that was *a very long time ago.*" In preparation for this theory, I've read every statement from every Poppy Playtime character that's ever spoken to the player. Out of all of them, only two people refer to the player as a human. First, Miss Delight from Chapter 3. "Not a good listener, are you? You're a lot like the *other humans** in that way. I wonder if your screams will sound like theirs too! Mmmm, I look forward to finding out..."* Sounds pretty definitive right? Surely that means we are just a regular worker. But then- The Doctor makes a similar comment with a twist "You know, I never thought I'd see another like you. A human. Certainly not an employee like you. *But something makes you different, I can tell that much*. Though I can't say what exactly that something is. Not yet." So we are human, but not quite human. Something is wrong. And we've heard this repeatedly throughout the series Chapter 2, Poppy tell us- "You are perfect, too perfect to lose." It's never been explained what about us makes us perfect, with the implication by fans being that our resourcefulness and motivation to save the children makes use the ideal resource for Poppy. But that assumes, again, that the game isn't being literal. If we take the statement as it is, the game is telling us that Poppy knows we are built perfectly. Crafted to be an ideal savior. She reinforces this again in chapter 3 when she once again tells is how "perfect" we are. How are we a toy despite also passing for a human? I believe we are a toy placed inside a human, instead of a human placed inside a toy like the Bigger Bodies Initiative. Toy implants, as it were. This is also might explain why Lily says we "smell like gore" when she meets us. The damage the protagonist has taken throughout the games has caused some of the protagonists's human tissue to become necrotic and infected, but the toy parts might be able to make them still function normally. Or it's the dead toys that we killed that rubbed off on us. This brings us to the end of chapter 5, and the only way to explain what happens to us. After we are fatally injured by the Prototype, he dumps us in a vat of poppy gel. The reasons he does so are still being debated 24 hours later and there appears to be no consensus on why, but most theories seem to gloss over new facts we learn about the Poppy gel combined with old lore. It's established in the chapter 2 notes that the only thing that poppy gel can do is revive dead organisms, but in practice it only works only after they've been killed and after they've been surgically altered into toys and given an electric shock. This is why Poppy Ludwig had to be placed into a Poppy doll. It's further shown in chapter 5 that poppy gel has a regenerative effect on the Prototype, however it is lethal to living organisms since we take damage from contact with it. How is this possible? Let me make a side tangent theory. I think that the Prototype/Ollie is dead. We don't see any organic materials on the Prototype's body and he appears to be wearing a mask. I believe the theories were 100% correct and the Prototype is a corpse inside his suit, being animated by poppy gel as a life support system through his crab-like leg base. The Prototype, as the first bigger body experiment, was a failure which kept Ollie on the verge of death but unable to die because every time his toy body gave out the gel reanimated him, effectively "healing" lethal injuries. This explains how the gel can kill people yet bring them back to life. The protagonist died at the end of chapter 5, but because of their pre-existing toy implants they were able to be regenerated with Giblet's electric shock. Them being a toy explains why they are called one by Lily, called different by The Doctor and called perfect by Poppy. mine is that the player is ludwig's grandson since we know that the people in eliots family have really made a impact on playtime co. and we all know molly not only left elliot because of his value in his "work" over their relationship but also been more then that like she was pregnant with his child but knew that she would not be able to raise it with him at all. so they divorced and she never told him about the pregnancy leaving to go on with her life. years later the player(grandson) comes to work at playtime co to learn more about their family history without anyone knowing who they really are and on the day the hour of joy his father comes to distract him for coming in to work but never explains why he's there or what he knows, as for the rest you all know. I've had this idea in my head since Chapter 3 about Poppy Playtime having its own horror/thriller show on Netflix or Amazon, adapting the events of the game. Each episode would be approximately 40 minutes and each chapter after the first two would take up 4 episodes (since 1 and 2 combined would take up 4 imo). It would likely be split into 2 seasons for this reason (assuming Chapter 5 is the last chapter, which it likely is). The episodes would combine both what the player does in the game as well as actual footage of what happens in the tapes they find. I even have names for these episodes of the chapters so far (though I'm subject to other name ideas if y'all have any) Episode 1: A Tight Squeeze (all of Chapter 1) Episode 2: Fly in a Web (beginning of Chapter 2 up until right before the game with Bunzo) Episode 3: Press Your Luck (the 3 games are the primary focus, ends when Mommy confronts the player for "cheating") Episode 4: Mommy Knows Best (the rest of Chapter 2) Episode 5: Deep Sleep (beginning of Chapter 3 up until around when the player meets Poppy and Kissy again) Episode 6: Don't Go into Delight (the Schoolhouse will be the primary focus) Episode 7: The Angel of Playtime (the Playhouse will be the primary focus, but it will end with CatNap threatening us to leave PlayCare after the nightmare about the Hour of Joy) Episode 8: The Hour of Joy (the rest of Chapter 3, likely the end of Season 1, and may or may not feature a post-credit scene of The Doctor (he'd have a bigger role in the show imo, and maybe Yarnaby and Pianosaurus too as more active subordinates to him)) Episode 9: Hell's Prison (beginning of Chapter 4 and ends with Doey killing Pianosaurus (though given my personal changes, there will either be more Pianosauruses, he'll be rebuilt and return, and/or he's simply held off by Doey until later)) Episode 10: Safe Haven (will likely end after Yarnaby dies, though with some potential for him to be either remade or just not actually dead, like a certain blue monster who was revealed to still be alive) Episode 11: Keep The Doctor Away (primarily focuses on the player shutting down the Doctor and getting the Omni-Hand, and will end with Ollie shouting that the Prototype was outside the Safe Haven (also Baba Chops would likely be replaced by (a potentially rebuilt or just another) Pianosaurus) Episode 12: The Gentle Voices Lie (the rest of Chapter 4) Given that the fanbase seems to be divided on Chapter 4, what changes would you make to it (and the rest of the chapters) if this Poppy Playtime show became a reality, and how would you structure the show? Since the game's release, we've been kept in the dark on the identity of who we are playing as in the games. Right now, we're nearly 4 chapters in since the game has released, and we still haven't received much in terms of clues or hints towards the protagonist's identity. As of now, the closest we've come to identifying the protagonist is random-name scientists who don't seem to be much of importance and likely died in the hour of joy, as well as P.W in the orientation notebook but no mention of them in-game.
