Portable reliable power bank
Hey everyone, I’m looking for a super slim/nano power bank mainly for long days out with no time to plug in. Portability is my priority — something I can carry in my pocket comfortably. Fast charging is nice but not essential. I was considering a MagSafe 5000 mAh option, but I’m unsure because of heat issues — I live in a warm city most of the year. I’ve looked at the Anker Nano 5000 MagGo and the Xiaomi ultrathin magnetic power bank, but I’ve heard they might not be great or very fast. Built a slim wireless power bank with Li-Po protection, boost conversion, and power cutoff
I built a compact wireless power bank as a personal project to explore power management, protection, and layout tradeoffs in a small enclosure. The system is based on a single-cell Li-Po with a dedicated PCM for overcurrent/overvoltage protection, a USB-C charging module for fast recharge, and a boost converter to supply the wireless charging module. A physical slide switch fully isolates the boost and wireless charger when off, so there’s no standby drain from the battery. One of the main challenges was balancing size, thermal behavior, and efficiency. Wireless charging is obviously less efficient than wired, and this version does get warm under higher load, so the focus here was more on validating the architecture and enclosure layout rather than optimizing efficiency. Thermal and efficiency improvements would be a priority in a future revision. The enclosure is sized tightly around the electronics and uses a transparent lid mainly for inspection and layout verification during use. I documented the full wiring and build process in an Instructables write-up for anyone interested in the details: https://www.instructables.com/LucidCharge-a-Slim-Transparent-Wireless-Power-Bank/ Happy to hear thoughts or suggestions on power architecture, thermal handling, or protection choices. submitted by /u/Mammoth-Grade-7629 to r/electronics [link] [comments]

Just unboxed the Anker 220W power bank
I’ve been using a small 10K mAh power bank to charge my phone directly, but during a recent trip with my partner we realized it just wasn’t enough. We both carry a bunch of devices, and sharing that tiny power bank was getting annoying. Saw this 220W model on sale and picked it up. It's actually pretty handful. Tested it with my MacBook pro and it hit around 140W. Charging my phone and noise-canceling earbuds at the same time also works totally fine. We mostly got this so my partner has backup power when she needs to work on the road, and for travel its 20K capacity easily covers both of our phones with plenty left. Switched back to wired power bank for my 17pro
I was planning to go all-in on wireless charging for both home and travel, but the 25w wireless power banks I tried made my iphone run pretty hot. Plus there ain't many options out there either, so I ended up switching back to wired and picked up this ankerprime 20K 220W which charges really fast, going from 20 to 80 percent within 40 mins. I’m a frogger living in someone else’s apartment right now. Ask me anything.
(Upd: YES, I USE AI FOR ACCURATE TRANSLATION, STOP BRINGING IT UP. ENGLISH IS MY THIRD LANGUAGE, AND I RUN MY TEXT THROUGH AI FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE) I’m a 20-year-old woman, and for the past few months I’ve been living as a phrogger in an apartment inside a historic building in Saint Petersburg, Russia. I found out about the place while working on a student report about old residential buildings with my classmate (let’s call her Anya). Anya lived in one of those big old apartments—basically a Soviet-era communal flat. It’s a huge apartment split into separate rooms rented by unrelated people, all sharing the same kitchen and bathroom. Everyone has their own room key, plus keys to the building and the main apartment door. While we were filming, Anya mentioned that people in her flat almost never lock their room doors, and the main door is often left open because tenants go into the stairwell to smoke. I remember thinking: Anyone who gets inside the building could just walk into this place. Kind of shocking, because in Russia everyone usually locks everything all the time. She also told me there were two locked storerooms inside the apartment that nobody had entered for years. Apparently, they belong to the state. Both doors were secured with a simple padlock held in place by a few screws—screws you could remove with a basic screwdriver. I was curious, because in old Saint Petersburg buildings, abandoned rooms sometimes hide interesting antiques. I forgot about that place until I dropped out of university. I lost my dorm room, and I couldn’t find an affordable apartment anywhere near my job. After wasting a month’s salary on a tiny overpriced room in another communal flat, I suddenly remembered Anya’s building. And then I had a ridiculous but tempting idea. I grabbed a small bag, a screwdriver, and went there to see if I’d be lucky—or kicked out immediately. I arrived around 3 PM, when most residents should be at work. I waited by the entrance and slipped in when someone walked out. The apartment was, unsurprisingly, unlocked. I stepped in, ready to tell anyone who saw me that I was visiting Anya. But the shared areas were empty. So I pulled out the screwdriver and started removing the screws from one of the padlocks. My hands were shaking, but no one showed up, and eventually the lock gave way. Inside was… just a plain empty storage room. Not a hidden apartment, not a secret chamber filled with antiques. Just four steps wide, six steps long. A dusty bike. An old sewing machine in a wooden case. No window. A small ventilation hole and two electrical outlets—only one of which worked. Bare concrete walls and floor. I decided to see how long I could stay there. The first night felt like an adventure. It got very cold fast, so I ended up spending the night locked in the shared bathroom. After that I went back to the storage room. When the tenants left for work, I tried checking the unlocked bedrooms. I knocked first, and if no one answered, I peeked inside. That same day, I snagged a spare set of three keys from one of the rooms and went back to my rented place. I ordered a sleeping bag, a cheap heater, and a water filter online. The next time I returned to the storage room, it already felt weirdly like home. Turns out Anya had moved out long ago. There are six rooms in the flat, and only three are occupied now: one by a mom and her kid, one by two young women, and one by an old lady who constantly goes out to smoke in the stairwell. I attached a thin wire to the padlock outside so I can pull it back into place from inside and make it look untouched. The storage room is right by the entrance, and nobody pays attention to it, so no one has noticed me. I put a small mattress under my sleeping bag. I fill my water filter from the shared kitchen tap. I enter the empty bedrooms to charge my phone and power bank or use someone’s printer. I shower in the shared bathroom. The heater does a decent job in the tiny room, though I’m still scared that the one working outlet will burn out, leaving me freezing in winter. Every day, I work, eat at a nearby canteen, walk around, talk to people. Then at night I come back to my storage room. I live a pretty normal life—and I don’t pay insane rent. After six months, it honestly feels like this is exactly how things are supposed to be. Upd: OMG, such a huge amount of feedback… I expected people either wouldn’t believe me or would judge me for using AI, and that the post would just get buried. I think I’ve already answered a lot of questions, and they’re starting to repeat. I’ve responded to pretty much everything related to my situation. Honestly, I’ve only used Reddit twice and I’m not an active user, so constantly checking the comments is really draining for me emotionally. And being this open about my situation has been a serious test for my conscience. Please don’t get angry if I ignore your question — I’ve most likely already answered something similar. I’m going to step offline for a while. I’ll check back when I feel ready. My heartfelt thanks to the people who wrote supportive words. I don’t really deserve it, but know this: you’re wonderful people, and your capacity for empathy is a real virtue. submitted by /u/Commercial_Flight912 to r/confession [link] [comments]

Will Ultra Fast Charging ruin my battery? 🔋
I recently entered the world of Samsung with my S25 Ultra... for work I happen to charge my phone with the power bank... my question is... can fast charging if active damage the phone or my battery? Keep in mind that the Powerbank in my possession is not exactly one of the scarcest ones.. submitted by /u/General_Bag_8672 to r/S25Ultra [link] [comments]

Anker Nano Power Bank
I recently bought the Anker Nano Poser Bank because the Apple one is, as usual, too expensive and not strong enough. The unit comes in Air matched colors and is right now $50. I haven’t used it yet as I just got it and it’s charging, my first real accessory for the Air. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F8J4WK57?ref_=cm_sw_r_cso_cp_mwn_dp_BXFWKY4ZJMWHY41F662E submitted by /u/Trvlng_Drew to r/IphoneAir [link] [comments]

Power bank question for camping
I am going to be camping in the back of my 4Runner next weekend and I am looking to buy a power bank that can last 2 days without being charged. I'm going to be using a heated blanket and charging my phone mainly. Heated bank would be used just to say warm at night and charge my on when I really need to. Now I found this. Is this over kill? Or would this last the weekend camping trip? submitted by /u/MrBiscuits93 to r/camping [link] [comments]

Haribo Mini Power Bank 20000 mAH First Impressions (10.09 oz, 286 g)
Hello fellow nerds, I picked up the Haribo 20,000 mAH battery bank after hearing that its specs rivaled that of the Nitecore NB 20000 and the Carbo 20000 batteries. The Haribo battery beats it in weight, price, and has 22.5w fast charging (same as the Nitecore series). Paid $23 for it on sale. So far the battery is doing what it claims to do: the fast charging works fantastically and was able to quick charge my DJI OSMO Pocket 3, iPhone, etc. It seems to only work when one port is being used (not two), but this was to be expected. The built in USB-C cord is able to fast charge, and I like the integration of it (so I don't have to carry an extra USB c cord when traveling). For folks looking to shave even more weight: the USB cord features a fake gummy bear on it that maybe could be taken off (I haven't tried it yet but it's worth mentioning). So far my tests seem to check out as far as its specs go, and given that it beats out carbon fiber batteries that are far more expensive options: for me it was an easy purchase. I'm excited to take it out on the trail more for trips that require over 20k mAH charging. I have made an initial video about it here, and for folks that would rather read an article than watch a video, I've made an article too. I'm not sponsored, at all, by Haribo or Hong Kong DC Global. I'm just a nerd that likes to find more ultralight ways to travel into wilderness spaces while taking photos! Hoping this initial deep dive into the goofy gummy bear battery will be useful to some. Happy trails, y'all. submitted by /u/Kads_Baker to r/Ultralight [link] [comments]

Charging Sheet - Power Banks, Chargers, Charging Capabilities, Compatibilities & More - Tests and Recommendations! (English version)
An English version of my introduction post to this Sub here. Please keep in mind: some review descriptions are still in German and I will keep it that way for now.   Hello everyone,   Some of you might have noticed my posts about the above-mentioned topics under 'Deals' on MyDealz. There, I've always shared my experiences and test results with others to the best of my knowledge and ability. Over time, I've received a lot of positive feedback, but also many private inquiries with specific questions or requests for assistance. After the old thread on MyDealz was closed, I decided to build my own small platform here.   The core of this remains my small sheet, packed with all sorts of information on chargers, power banks, and the charging behavior of various devices. It's best to just take a look yourself!:   The Charging Sheet (Google Docs, best view in Desktop mode)   Smartzone.de: Was ist das Charging Sheet (German article)   Hopefully, this thread can also be used in the future for technical questions or recommendations. That way, everyone benefits, especially since the questions I get often overlap.   The sheet is currently organized into several sections:   Power Banks & Chargers: The core of the Charging Sheet is a list of data on chargers and power banks that I either own or have at least had in my hands for testing. Whether it's Anker, Ugreen, Baseus, INIU, or Cuktech – most manufacturers are represented there. Each of the listed devices has been extensively analyzed by me. This includes:   Net capacity measurement for power banks Charging and discharging duration Constant power output capacity Specifications, charging protocols, and PPS range Passthrough and UPS support Power distribution Dimensions and weight And much more   Charging Speeds: Besides listing hardware, I also consistently examine the charging speeds of various smartphones. Since I frequently have access to all sorts of Android models—from BBK to Motorola to Xiaomi—a wide range of experiences has accumulated. I've documented these in the form of charging analyses within the other tabs of the Charging Sheet. These analyses address questions like:   How long does it take to charge Phone X with Charger Y? What battery level is reached after timeframe Z? Which charger do I need for Phone X for optimal Charging? How fast do other chargers charge Phone X?   Wireless Charging: With the introduction of Qi2, at the latest, wireless charging has definitively hit the mainstream. However, reliable comparative data is still practically impossible to find. Wireless charging remains a very sensitive charging technology, where even the smallest variables can influence the charging outcome. Since I'm a huge fan of Qi2 myself, I've built my own testing scenario to effectively compare Qi2 chargers, including power banks. Because there are truly big differences here, and Qi2 isn't automatically the same as Qi2.   The best thing to do is take a look yourself. And if you have any questions, feel free to ask them here in the thread, or create a new post. Feedback is always welcome! NOTE: If the post contains AliExpress links, it will go automatically into the spam folder. Not sure If I can turn this off.   However, the following information would always be important: What's the maximum price? How much power do I need? (Capacity/Watts) What needs to be charged? (Please specify the exact model!)   More useful information:   Transparency Report: Long-Term Experiences with Chargers and Power Banks   CCC (3C) Certifications for Powerbanks - an Overview   All my written reviews:     Comparisons & other Testings:   iPhone 17 Serie - Ladeleistung, Kompatibilität, Ladegeräte iPhone Air - Wireless Charging Vergleich (Qi2, Ladegeräte und Powerbanks) iPhone 17 Pro - Wireless Charging Vergleich (Qi2.2 25W vs Qi2 15W, Ladegeräte und Powerbanks) Motorola Edge 50 Ultra: Charging-Review OnePlus Nord 4 Charging Review OnePlus 13 Charging Review OnePlus 15 Charging Review Xiaomi 14T Pro Charging Review   165W, 20-25.000 mAh Powerbanks mit integrierten Kabeln im großen Vergleichstest (Anker, Ugreen, Vention, AsperX) Die dünnsten & kompaktesten MagSafe-Powerbanks auf dem Markt - Test & Vergleich Qi2-Powerbanks mit 10.000 mAh - Die besten Modelle von Anker, Baseus und Co. im direkten Vergleich   Review by product:   4smarts Desk Charger Lucid GaN DIY MODE mit 300W, 3x USB-C und 1x USB-A! State of power banks in 2025
Hey everyone, I’ve been really grateful for all the gear recommendations I’ve picked up here over the years, this community is full of gems. I’m curious what people are using these days for keeping devices powered while hiking. Are traditional power banks still the go-to, or have people moved on to other setups (like vape batteries or newer tech)? I’ve been using the Anker MagGo with a built-in Apple Watch charger and USB-C cable, which has been great, but it’s only 10,000 mAh. I’m looking for something a little bigger (up to 20,000 mAh), ideally still lightweight and capable of 30W fast charging. It’ll be powering an iPhone 16 Pro Max, Petzl Bindi headtorch, and AirPods Pro on trail. Would love to hear what’s working for you, any recommendations or new discoveries would be massively appreciated. Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/kriztofurV2 to r/Ultralight [link] [comments]

I bought the $80 mystery box and I got a $78 power bank. And you bet your bottom I want them to refund me that two dollars.

Had my wife served for divorce since she sided with her key stealing entitled mother
Just because I found the thought of it humorous, I'll be referring to my wife as Wifey a lot from now on. Also, I know I seem like I'm posting too fast. But remember this originally started around 10 days ago, and I've not wasted time in getting the divorce started. I also apologize for the length of this post as I could not keep it short. It really didn't take me long to find and hire a divorce lawyer. And she's mean! Yes, my lawyer is a woman. And she seems pretty good at her job. She asked me a couple of times if I was really sure I wanted to do this. But once I explained my full story to her and showed some evidence, she agreed with me when I said I wanted to start ASAP. So she got the ball rolling. Oh this divorce is going to cost me. But I don't care. I'll rebuild my savings later as a free man. I didn't even want to rent the house I'm currently living in anyway. Wifey pushed for that. I'd have been happy staying in our old apartment we used to share until we could have actually afforded to buy a house together instead. But that's obviously never happening. I'll be paying a lot less for an apartment once we separate. Before coming home, Wifey spent some time at a cheap motel when she bailed her mother out of jail. And she even threatened to call police on me when I went to see her there. I changed the locks with my landlord's permission while Wifey was still away, and sent her a text saying I'd done so. But I guess she'd not bothered to look since she never responded. So upon returning home she ended up pounding on the door and screaming at me to let her in. I just watched her through the doorbell cam and let her keep it up for a while before she finally got on her phone to call me. I was already walking home from having had dinner with my best friend when she called, and I pointed out the text she'd not bothered to read. When I got home to let her in, she was puffy-cheeked, teary eyed, and red with a bit of cat-butt-face. I had a new key ready for her, and told her if she gave a copy to her mother again, I'd be notifying our landlord, as they were already very angry she'd given her mother a key to begin with. Not sure what the landlord could have done. But it was enough to make Wifey comply for the moment. Plus, I'm not gonna be living here much longer anyway. My MIL still believes she did absolutely nothing wrong, and is playing victim to Wifey every chance she gets. She's not allowed over anymore, for obvious reasons. And I've been repeatedly called a monster by her and Wifey. I've never been more glad that MIL has no friends, because then she'd be telling them all her convoluted version of the story to paint me as a villain, I just know it. She was told how much my key collection is roughly worth, and what kind of felony charges she could be facing. Though my collection was returned fully intact. So she may get the charges lessened. I'd like to hope she gets a decent punishment at least. But I'm not really counting on the system to throw the book at a manipulator like her. As I said in my previous post, Wifey also paid her mother's bail and what she owed to the pawn shop with money out of our joint bank account, and then smugly told me that she wouldn't be putting the money back. Basically that was a terrible power move, and her only way to try and put all the cost on me. I've since removed everything I had in that account, and stopped all future payments to it so she can't spend my money too. And I've changed my passwords to pretty much everything. Wifey flipped the hell out on me for it once she finally checked the account a couple days ago, because that meant that what she paid for MIL's bail and reimbursing the pawn shop was all in her money only. And now there was no more access to my funds to supplement her own with. I just ignored her tantrum and went into the home office to watch anime on my computer. She banged on the door for a while demanding I talk to her. I just stayed quiet and put on headphones. Wifey has repeatedly demanded I drop all charges against her mother, and even said that if I really loved her, I would not only stop all this, I'd cover the cost too. When I kept refusing, she moved into the spare bedroom. She tried to kick me out of the master bedroom first. But I made it clear I'm not giving up the master bedroom when she's the one at fault. She tried to start taking my stuff out, but I just blocked her while pointing my finger at her face and said "NO!" like I was talking to a dog. She ended up crying and saying I was demeaning her. But I didn't care. Then for some more deception on her part, she admitted to me out of pure spite that until this mess had started, she'd been planning on letting her mother come live with us full time soon because of the state of her hoarder house. She boasted that she was just gonna move her in while I was at work. I told her we were supposed to be equal partners before this all happened. And I was sick of her unilateral decision making. And as long as I'm paying 50% of the lease, her mother will not be living here. And if she tried, I'd throw all her mother's stuff out immediately. Wifey looked like she wanted to explode, and stormed off to have a drink and a loud phone-call with her mother in the kitchen. I just started removing her stuff from the master bedroom and left it in the other room for her. I've put a new lock on the door to the master bedroom too. I had Wifey served at her job, which she said really embarrassed her in front of her colleagues. And she flipped out on me again once she got home. Apparently she didn't take my threats of divorce seriously until those papers were actually in her hands. She said I couldn't do this. But I told her I was done. She made it more than clear where she stands. I told her I learned a rather interesting phrase online. When people show you who they really are, believe them. And she's clearly shown me who she really is. And it's not the woman I fell in love with. That woman disappeared and got replaced with an entitled mommy's girl who refuses to act her age right after we got married. Which makes it pretty obvious she did that intentionally. At this point, I don't think she ever loved me. Just my wallet. I can't stay married to a woman who conned me into marrying her. Then she started screaming at me that she wasn't a gold digger. So I asked her if she'd have been inclined to stay married to me if I'd done the all same things to her. She tried to deny it at first, then looked around like she was trying to find a better answer. Then she just gaslit to deflect as usual. But I had none of it. I told her right then and there that I'm not renewing the lease on the house with her because I don't want to live with a petulant woman-child I can't trust. And if she wants to keep the house, she can go ahead and start a new lease to move her mother in once I'm gone. Finally that's when the real waterworks started. She said I was destroying our family. And I said "What family!?" and pointed out how we don't have kids, and her mother is more important to her than me. We. Have. No. Family! Then I just walked away. She loudly cried in the living room for hours, but I ignored her. Now she's giving me the hardcore silent treatment, and won't look me in the eyes. I'm actually enjoying it. Which just seems to make her angrier. As an added bonus, I warned my current landlord about Wifey wanting to move her mother in. I gave him all the details I had about MIL, the state of her hoarder house, and how much of a deceptive mommy's girl Wifey is. And warned him that if he let my MIL live in any property he owns, she would turn it into an utter disaster. He thanked me for telling him, and is now not going to let Wifey renew the lease on her own if she tries. He'll be advertising the property soon. Wifely has no idea yet, and likely would have only just barely been able to afford the house with her mother's help anyway. One more thing. Yesterday someone warned me to take my name off the joint bank account entirely so I would not be on the hook for any overdraft. I took that to heart and went to the bank to get it done. Only took a few minutes to do it, and the bank is ten minutes away by car. All good now. I've been working from home lately, so I had the time. All statements from the account were already printed and given to my lawyer too. So I can wash my hands of it. Edit: I don't know if it's the same rules everywhere. But the bank had no problem removing my name from the account as a cosigner when I pushed for it. There were no debts on the account, and had plenty more than the minimum balance. The bank likely did tell Wifey. But whether or not she knows I did it, it does not matter as she's currently not talking to me. Edit 2: I've noticed a few comments pointing out how it was completely unnecessary I pointed out my lawyer is a woman. Looking back on it, I did write that like a complete jerk. I was just rather excited in the moment about it. No that's not an excuse, I acknowledge that. But how quickly this lawyer helped me just made me so happy. I'll make sure not to sound like such an idiot when speaking of her again from now on. submitted by /u/MyKeysWereStolen to r/EntitledPeople [link] [comments]

41yo suboxone patient with lung cancer. I don't mean to keep pestering this sub, but I thought I'd drop in to say good-bye. The cancer is in my heart and central cardiovascular area. It's over.
Hello all. I hope this update doesn't break any rules, as I suppose I do not have any questions. Mods, let me know. I did not want to just disappear from reddit. I know a number of you have been thinking about me. I said I would post an update before I passed away and, well, here I am. I know it is fast. But things have been happening fast. I don't mean to flood this sub with my misery. I'm on some heavy duty medications. I hope this doesn't come off as rambling. This will be my final post. The Cancer is all through both sides of my chest and above my collarbone. It's over. I was diagnosed with Extensive Stage small cell lung cancer and given four months to live on the 6th. Well, it seems "two weeks" was a more accurate approximation of my time. I am not long for this world. As for what happened-- I wasn't slated to meet my hospice team till yesterday, Friday. I went to the ER on Thursday with chest pain. They took a lot of fluid out of my chest. The ER physician described my imaging as "grotesque" and immediately asked if I had considered palliation. I said I didn't see hospice till tomorrow. He said if I wanted any chance of dying at home, I needed to see them NOW, otherwise he'd have to admit me. He won't be getting any awards for bedside manner any time soon, but I greatly appreciated his candor. Several urgent phone calls later I had a palliative Nurse Practitioner in my room who went through the screening process and admitted me to their home hospice program. I went home Friday morning with a hospice kit. Met the palliative physician that evening, shortly after I posted my list of questions here. I will not see Christmas, or Thanksgiving, or even next weekend. Every breath is work. Each one more work than the last. My team estimates that, at this rate, I will die Tuesday at the absolute latest. Probably sooner. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe tonight. My oncologist called to personally apologize for misjudging my remaining time, but I hold him no ill will. Determining the time of death is not an exact science. I know that. I'm arranging to donate my body to science. I want them to do an autopsy and see how it got me so quickly, to help other cancer patients. The oncologist thinks the cancer may have gotten to my heart or the major central blood vessels. I didn't think small cell could move THIS fast but my oncologist says we caught it late. My hospice team has been wonderful. I have crossed tapered from bupenorphine-- which I discontinued Wednesday-- to methadone, with little difficulty. I have a lot of morphine and the option of hydromorphone is on the table as well if needed. I am comfortable and resting at home. The next stop on the train is continuous sedation, and I am very tired, so I probably will not be able to respond to anyone like I did last time. My physician says we can start a midazolam drip as soon as tonight. I will probably take him up on the offer tomorrow, if I'm still alive. I suppose this is a good place to share where my fears around palliation come from. I used to be an aid in a nursing home, many years ago. I saw a number of unpleasant deaths due to insufficient palliation. We had a wonderful man who was prescribed a self administration pump for morphine. Problem was, he was too sick to press it, and his physician did not seem to grasp the severity of his condition. Every half hour, one of us would sneak in and press the button on his pump, which, in hindsight, was probably illegal, but what else could we do? He was very uncomfortable at the end. I tried to do basic mouth care just before he passed and he recoiled in pain. "Have a heart", he whispered. It broke my heart to hear this admonition from such a wonderful man. My greatest fear was Terminal Restlessness. I saw a few patients scratch their faces and tear their fingernails out as they died, even on high doses of opioids and benzodiazepines. My palliative physician has assured me that he won't let that happen and that there is no limit to what they can give me. I feel much reassured. I have tried to write letters to the people I've wronged. I suddenly find that I want to make amends. So many letters. I was a functioning addict for a long time. My family cut me off, rightfully so. So I have been writing a lot of letters. But I am losing strength. I will not be able to write many more letters. My CNA has transcribed one letter template for everyone. I hope it is enough. I also had many kind offers to transcribe letters from Redditors here on the sub. What love that you would do that for a stranger. If I was strong enough to talk on the phone, I would have taken you all up on it, but I can barely talk. Perhaps, had I not been so stunned by my diagnosis, I could have arranged this sooner. But that is in the past now. Dad, if you somehow see this post, I know how much I hurt you and and I am sorry. I wish I could call you. I do not even know where you live and I'm not strong enough to find you. I do not ask for your love, for that is beyond my power to ask. Just your forgiveness is enough. Please Dad, forgive me. I do not want die without your forgiveness. But I will, won't I? I beseech you all to make amends with those you begrudge. Do not go to bed angry or hold hate in your heart. You will be glad that you forgave. I wish I had done so sooner, before I ran out of time. You will run out of time, too, some day in the future. Don't leave any business unfinished, any grudge unmended. There a nicotine patch on my arm. A reminder of one of the several self destructive habits that brought me here. My smoking habit was not had enough to set things off this quickly, but it clearly did not help. For those of you who smoke, I have but one message: stop it. Please. You think you will wait till you are ready. You will never be ready. You say you will quit tomorrow, but then tomorrow becomes today, and you are never ready today, only tomorrow. Tomorrow never comes. Today is the only day in which the decision can be made. You can only quit TODAY. Do so now. Throw your cigarettes in the trash. Do it for me. What a gift it would be that my post would free you of tobacco's golden chains. As difficult and shocking as these last few weeks have been, I regard them as positive. Only four weeks ago, I thought that the universe was a cold and cruel place. I experienced physical and mental abuse, chronic pain, and addiction. But my situation has forced a change of perspective. I see now that all our experiences, no matter how horrid, are temporary, and that we will all find the same rest and peace in the end. I do not mean to give the wrong impression to those struggling with depression. I have tried to kill myself before. The difference between then and now is vast. Death is an old friend waiting to greet you at the end of a long and well lived life. It can not be appreciated properly when sought in darkness. I know there is no magic fix for depression, but I urge you to get up, go out, and live the crazy, wonderful, irrational, beautiful life you want. If only I had done the same. What a gift is life! Thank you all for your love, empathy, and reassurance. For all the people who PMed me offering to help with transcribing letters, for all the kind messages and comments. You are all beautiful people. I hope you remember that. No matter what anyone else says or thinks, or even what you yourself think, you are beautiful and can only be so, because you reached out to a stranger in his moment of pain. Your hearts will always carry that little light of goodness no matter how dark your days. Carry that little light with you and forget it not. It can brighten a stranger's day. It can even save the world. A few PMed me asking to look into their religion. In the past I would have been irritated. Now I recognize that you were concerned for my souls well being. Thank you for your compassion. I am not well versed on religion, but I have prayed, and I trust that whatever higher power may dwell above the stars will look upon my situation with infinite love and compassion. This in my heart I know. /u/hugegrape, you wanted to make me a plushie free of charge. Your care and empathy have touched my heart. I'm sorry to say that I will not be in a position to receive it. I did not expect to go this fast. I want you to make it anyway. I want you to keep it with you and know that you will always have a part of me. I hope this brings you some comfort. You have my everlasting love and gratitude. Wishes are usually reserved for the future. I have no future. But I find myself still wishing. I wish I had not worried so much about the little things. I wish I had not worried so much about the numbers in my bank account or the punch of the time clock. All that time working. I had enough money to keep a roof over my head and to invest in what few hobbies I had, yet I still kept racking up overtime. And for what? Only to find myself here. It all came to nothing in the end. I robbed myself of the most precious commodity I had, time, in exchange for green pieces of paper and little metal discs. A perverse and twisted trade. Only now do I see the truth. I wish I had had the courage to live my life the way I wanted to. I wish I had traveled the world, fallen in love, written a novel. I wish I had had children. I have no one to whom I can pass my life lessons. No one to sit by my side, here at the end of my world. It is too late for me. But it is not too late for you. Live the life YOU want, no matter how strange it may seem to others or to society. It is your life and yours alone. Live it well. I'm not sure where I go from here. I have been reading accounts of the afterlife from various cultures. Summerland, Elysium, Tir Na Nog. I've also taken to reading The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying, though it seems I will run out of time before I can finish. What a strange feeling. I personally do not believe consciousness survives death, but I'm open to being pleasantly surprised. And if not, well, who can complain about a siesta that can't be interrupted? Regardless of what awaits me, it is nice to dream. And that is what I will do now. I will dream. I will rest and dream of the peace to come till I dream no more. May you all one day face death with this same wonderful dream. I do not have any friends or family to sit here with me, so I am leaving this tab open. I will read your comments and savor your reassurances, even if I do not reply. I will keep you all here with me. I feel less alone this way. I will keep you all with me as I die. You people are all I have now. I am strong but I am scared. Stay with me till I'm gone. I do not want to be alone. Till we meet again, my beautiful friends. Robert S Edit: just woke up from my nap and I'm overwhelmed by the outpouring of love. I'm touched by the people throwing away their cigarettes and finding the courage to pursue the life they want. What a blessing you all are. I am reading every message I can even if I don't respond. Tears streaming down my face. Now I know I will not die alone. What a gift this sub has given me. Edit 2: Sunday at 2:30 pm. Haven been awake much but I've read as much as I can. How I cherish your love and kindness. You helped a grumpy drug addict die with love in his heart and a smile on his face. the doc will be here at 3 to give versed. I'm tired of trying to breath. chaplain has given me last rites. Its over now my friends. I love you. Good bye submitted by /u/medthrowaway87ei to r/AskDocs [link] [comments]
