Rucking Weight Vest - Longer Waist Straps?
Got an L/XL Rucking Weight Vest for Christmas, and the waist straps are too short for me. I can barely strap the vest around my waist. For reference, I’m 6’ 240lbs, and I wear 38” pants. I don’t feel like I’m that big, but this large vest just doesn’t fit right. I can get like 3/4” overlap of the Velcro front and back on the vest. I think an additional 6” would make this much more comfortable. Does anyone know if there are any larger or alternative straps available to use? submitted by /u/Eothric to r/Goruck [link] [comments]

Has anyone rucked with both a backpack and a weighted vest?
Hi all, New to rucking and have been watching a lot of videos on it. I'm wondering if anyone has tried wearing both a vest and a backpack for their walks. Just curious to see if there are any extended benefits of wearing both. I'm thinking of trying it out as there are good deals on vests right now but I'm also a bit hesitant that it will be too overkill. Obviously the weights for both would be lighter than what I would typically ruck submitted by /u/PestyAssassin33WU93 to r/Rucking [link] [comments]

Swapping from a 20kg vest to a ruck
Howdy! I’m currently swapping from a 20kg vest to rucking, I’m wanting a bit of a sanity check on my approach. I’m currently: A short ass, 5’6, 72kgs, been in the gym for years, reasonably strong lifts across the board. A decent runner, 5kms under 30 minutes. My pace with the weighted vest sits at around 10 minute kms. I’ve checked my flavour of AI, it tells me to start with a 9kg plate, move to a 13 and then a combination of the two which my pack supports, is this what you’d consider? submitted by /u/asdfghasfgg to r/Rucking [link] [comments]

GoRuck Training Weight Vest – Quick Review
Picked up the GoRuck Training Weight Vest last week and have been really impressed so far. Super easy to take on/off, plates sit well, and nothing felt awkward or distracting during workouts. I ran the January TRIBE Origin Strike workout wearing the 20 lb plate and honestly loved every second of it. For the 1-mile ruck portion, I jogged the entire thing—no slipping, bouncing, or weird movement at all. The phone pouch actually works and stayed comfortable even while running. Only minor nitpick: during bent-over rows, the top of the vest occasionally rubbed my neck a bit. Not a dealbreaker and never enough to be annoying. For reference: I’m 5’7”, 165 lbs. Overall, fantastic product and easily recommend it if you’re looking for a solid training vest for rucks and workouts. submitted by /u/porjurican to r/Goruck [link] [comments]

Questions about ruck vs weighted vest for dog walking
Hey, all Been researching what would be the best setup for walking with weights while out of with dog. Here's the basics: I'm M 6'0", 230 lb, pushing 60 yo with some low back disc degeneration. For the most part, I'm pretty pain free when walking/biking/excerising It varies depending on schedule but generally the dog and I do 2 to 2.5 miles (3.2 to 4Km) a day. Do as a little as 1 mile (1.6 km), as much as 3.5 miles (5.6 km). I have a home tread mill as well. I do about 30 minutes on that, alternating between 4 and 5 MPH in five minute intervals. I do have a ruck sack I bought years ago for lugging around my sketch book and various travel item, but it's nothing like the athletic stuff that's be sold. I have a feeling it's a what a ruck suck was before the current fad. Also have access to mini backpacks. I was leaning toward a weighted vest, as that seemed more safe given my back issues. My primary doctor agreed. I'm confused as shit as what to get. Ideally, I wanted to get a weighted vest where I can add weights as I go. I was thinking of starting around 15 lbs and working my way up from there. However, I'm not really sure that's an actual thing. It seems like all of the vest come pre-weighted, and I'm not thrilled about having to buy new vest every so often. I like the idea of rucking working my core, because it's a flabby mess, LOL, but I'm really worried about messing up my back further. Attached is a photo of the ruck sack (sorry about the dog hair). It does have a waist strap for support. Right now, it has about 11 lbs (5kg) of stuff in it. Any advice is really appreciated. https://preview.redd.it/7o718d7ygn1g1.jpg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3c3370155ff24f15d733994e14b7a5e8d1472224 submitted by /u/Least-Yak1640 to r/Rucking [link] [comments]

do I go with a ruck plate carrier (vest), or should I go straight for the backpack?
I just got a new dog, which means daily long walks are now guaranteed. Since I’m already out there moving, I thought it might be the perfect chance to build some fitness into the routine by adding weight. Now I’m stuck on the choice: do I go with a ruck plate carrier (vest), or should I go straight for the backpack? The vest looks simple and efficient, just throw in a plate, strap it on, and walk. The backpack, though, feels more versatile. It could double for travel, workouts, or carrying more than just the plate. Since my main use case is walking the dog, I’d love to hear from those of you who’ve been in a similar spot. If you started rucking with daily walks, did you find the vest more natural, or did the backpack make more sense in the long run? submitted by /u/vinylfelix to r/Goruck [link] [comments]

Ruck and frag vest.
How well designed is the cts ruck in respect to the issued frag vest? I'm a cadet, and a total nerd about the caf, ive stumbled upon a surplus frag vest (not stollen, it's complicated) and I was trying out that with a ruck and it doesn't work at all. I tried it with my 82p and that sucked, I got a 64p but had to use 82 straps, which didn't change much. I don't know if the actual 64 straps would be better or not, but it got me interested because neither of those rucks are designed to be used with armour, so how good is the one that should have been designed for use with armour? submitted by /u/Definitelynotme_yes to r/CanadianForces [link] [comments]

Rucking with 45lb is NOT the same as using a 45lb weighted vest
Throwing this out there for anyone Googling "should I start rucking with 45 lbs" like I did, then reading the posts on this subreddit thinking "well, I've already been walking around with weight, so I'm probably fine." I've been using a 45 lb weighted vest for the past 4 months and got to the point where I'd have to jog to stay in zone 2 HR. So I figured might as well treat myself to a Rucker 4.0. Let me just say: even if you're used to 45 lbs in a vest...drop to 30. A ruck plate and a vest load are not the same. Your body will remind you real fast. And here I am, sharing the hubris I had that lead to rucking humbling me real quick. submitted by /u/4rch to r/Rucking [link] [comments]

Weighted vest Vs Ruck sack

Ruck / Weighted Vests
One of our coaches mentioned that OTF might be looking into weight vests, but didn’t have an ETA on when that might start. Does anyone have any inside info on this? For me, it would be incentive to do more tread50 classes. ETA - asking more about OTF promoting weighted vests vs. actually wearing one from the studio. Wow - what a difference it makes when you switch from a weighted vest to a ruck!
I've been walking with a weighted vest for nearly 5 months. It's been great at the beginning and I've added weight to it over time. Now I reached a point where the weighted vest doesn't seem to add much of a challenge to my walks unless I go for a particulary long or uphill walk. So I decided to switch things up and try rucking. I loaded my ruck with my weighted vest and went for my usual lunchtime walk (45mins) and wow. The weight distribution is so different that the usual 18kg I comfortably carried around while wearing a vest felt so much heavier when fully placed on my shoulders and back. It's a true challenge and I will continue varying my walks to include a ruck from now on! submitted by /u/plukhkuk to r/Rucking [link] [comments]
