RE:Why does Chris Hipkins kick himself when he's down?
My friend who is a very good hairdresser, says that when women lose a lot of weight, (usually in the face first) they should take a relook at their hairstyle, as what suited them with a little extra condition in the face, doesn't often suit them afterwards. She reckons a short/medium bob would suit her face nicely, and she would love to help her out in that way.

Bigot learns the hard way there's lots of reasons for short hair
This happened a few years back, but someone brought it up recently and I thought I'd share. It might have been a dick move on my part, but hopefully the guy learnt a lesson. I'm a woman, and about 10 years ago I had super long hair (past my waist) that I decided to donate to charity (The Little Princess Trust in the UK in case anyone wants to do anything similar). I also decided to fully shave my head to raise some more money, and was completely bald. About 6 months later my hair had started to grow back, and I'd styled it into a cute short pixie cut. I was out in a pub with some friends, and a random guy was trying to flirt with my friends but was being a complete dick to me. He was just being genuinely nasty, talking about how I was "disgusting" and "unnatural", and telling my friends they should ditch me. I'd had enough of him after a while and asked what his problem was. He told me he couldn't stand "dyke bitches", that I was going to hell like all the gays, and was probably going to force myself on the other girls when they were drunk because "that's what you're all like". Not that it matters, but I'm straight and had never talked about my sexuality with this random guy, or had been flirting with anyone. My friends and I were all stunned by this and I asked what made him think I was gay. He pointed at my hair and said that "only lesbians have hair like that" and to not deny it because I wasn't fooling anyone. We all just stared at him in complete disbelief, even his friends looked embarrassed. Here's where I might have been a dick. I pulled up a picture of me with my bald head, looked him in the eyes and said "I used to be bald and my hair is only just growing back". He looked at the picture and said "why the fuck were you bald?" I just coldly looked at him and asked "why do you think some women become bald?" Even though I didn't say anything else, and never confirmed or denied anything, I watched his and his friends faces turn from confusion to complete horror as they all came to the same conclusion. They all though this guy was being a homophobic dick to a cancer survivor. He started apologising profusely to me, telling me he didn't mean it, he had family who had cancer, and he wouldn't have said anything if he knew. I just replied "there's a lot of reasons women have short hair. Maybe consider them before you start being a homophobic prick." His friends eventually dragged him away and kept apologising to me for him, but we decided to leave to avoid further drama. My friends decided to play along until we left, and we had a giggle about it afterwards. I know it was wrong to make someone think I had an illness, and I have so much respect and compassion for those who have fought or are fighting cancer. But I hope that this guy thinks twice before berating a random woman based on her hairstyle, and that he learned not to judge others so quickly. Edit: just to add this because I keep seeing people criticising my friends for not defending me. They did try. We all tried to ignore him and tell him to leave us alone. He just refused to listen. We were all around 19-20 (drinking age in uk is 18 before anyone comments) and he was older and a big guy, plus he'd had a few drinks. I don't know if you've ever tried to tell a big drunk guy to go away, but it can be difficult and scary, especially if you're young and don't know how he'd react. I also remember his friends trying to get him to leave us alone, but he ignored them too. The entire thing only lasted a few minutes, and we left pretty quickly after. If it happened today we'd have no problem telling him to piss off, but that's the joy of being older and wiser. submitted by /u/Best_Corgi2385 to r/traumatizeThemBack [link] [comments]

Since a lot of you guys seem to struggle with dating, here's some actual advice.
None of the obvious, generic "be yourself". (Though it's true, you should, for the most part, be yourself.) DISCLAIMER: This is a perspective of a bisexual man. Women, trans and non-binary people obviously will have vastly different experiences. This is not an international guide. I assume certain advice is simply not applicable if you live in a vastly different culture. This a guide that should work in Europe and North America. I have no clue about how it is on different continents. Why do I think I'm qualified: Since I was 18 I have been single for a total of 1 or 2 years. All the other time has been spent in a mix of different relationships, some serious, some casual. Ranging from a one night stand to a 5 year marriage. I am most definitely not in the legendary "top 1% of most attractive guys". I am what I believe is objectively considered "average" in terms of things you're born with, maybe with the exception of height, which is 185cm. If you believe that this specificaly is the deciding factor, I'm not gonna argue. I've never lived as a short king, I don't know how it is. I'm gonna add a picture of me so that you can judge for yourself if I'm overexaggerating my averageness or not. (Keep in mind that I'm only talking about the genetic factors, like the jawline and whatnot). The relationships were pretty much all healthy. Even if there were some difficult emotions, all of them ended amicably with both parties agreeing that it's the best course of action. I don't have any exes that I would consider "crazy" or "evil", I don't think any of them think of me that way either. I have tried different approaches. I was at the humane side of redpill/looksmaxxing (as in believed that looks come first and the rest almost doesn't matter, but not treating women and men as objects or lesser), I tried the "just be yourself and be comfortable" approach, I tried both looking for dates irl and on Tinder. I have been at the whole spectrum of bodytypes I could have: skinny to fat, slim to muscular. END OF DISCLAIMER "Be yourself" is, in my opinion, a little too simple, because what it actually means is "Be your BEST self". As in, if there some parts of you that you can and want to change - address that. For me that was being overly shy and overweight, as well as lacking hobbies that can be enjoyed offline. Another part of it is presentation. There is no point in pretending you're someone you're not, but there's no point in not showing your best side either. My biggest mistake was not caring about basic grooming when going out and taking pictures. I didn't have a hygine problem, but I'd have unshaven, odd facial hair (the kind that you get in your early 20s that kinda looks like pubes and grows unevenly), I'd dress in old clothes that didn't match at all, wouldn't comb or style my hair. Clothing and hair is the easiest thing to improve to get results quickly. If you don't have any ideas for your hair, go to a good hairstylist and describe what you need. For example, my hairstyle is described as: "A hairstyle that any decent hairstylist or barber will be able to replicate from a picture, does not require use of gel or paste to style but it can be improved with it, can grow out for about 2 months before it needs to be cut again, back and sides of head should not require any styling at all. Please choose a hairstyle that fits the shape of my face and show me example pictures before we start cutting." Clothing is best when it looks good but also represents who you are. I am a big fan of the show Better Call Saul and the game Cyberpunk, so I got myself 10 different T-shirts referencing said shows - it helps organically attract people with similar interests to you and sometimes they strike up conversations unprompted. If you trust your fashion sense, you can choose clothes for yourself, but I personally don't trust mine. This is why I ALWAYS shop for clothes together with the type of person I am attracted to. Meaning if I was, for example, into weebs, I'd take a friend of mine that is also a weeb of the gender I'm shooting for. If you don't have a friend that is "your type", just use a friend of gender and sexual orientation that you like. So if you're gay, take a gay friend, if you're heterosexual, take a heterosexual friend of opposite gender. If you physically can go to the gym or get some other kind of physical activity, I recommend you do. Not just for looking good, but for your health. Doesn't need to be radical. 6000 steps a day does wonders, really. This isn't really a "don't be fat" advice. You can be literally of any bodyweight, bodyshape, age and gender -> you should get movement anyway. I used to be sedantary 100kg, used to be very active 75kg and I am now a reasonably active 100kg. The way I feel, move and look now is closed to 75 than sedantery 100. So now you have a decent hairstyle, care abotu hygine and basic grooming, have a set of good, matching clothes or two. Now here is where there are two paths you might want to take, maybe even both at once: Path 1 - "passive", in person dating I believe that pick-up culture is dead, if it even ever was alive. Trying to "approach" or "pick up" women is pretty much never going to work. Best you can achieve with that is be the 19th guy that bothered them today. The real "strategy" is a deep-guarded secret. You have to be... a friendly and approachable person that is just looking for new connections. If you approach people, in that case women, with the explicit goal of "I WANT TO FIND A PARTNER", then anything that doesn't seem to lead to that will seem annoying. Guy? PASS. She has a boyfriend? PASS. She seems to not be into me? PASS. Lesbian? PASS. This is a great way to not have friends. And what you actually want is friends. Getting friends is difficult if you don't have any, but very easy if you already get some. After that it's all exponential. You went to a bar, you met a cool guy there. He's not a girl that's into you, but he's cool to talk to, and you hit it off. He later invites you to his place to play DND, where you meet a girl that is very cool, but also not into you, since she has a boyfriend. You later meet him though and it turns out he has a sister and she's cool and she's into you. You understand what I mean? You want to FRIENDSHIPMAXX because this is how you meet people who WANT to meet and spend time with you, and on top of that, meeting friends of friends increases the likelyhood of them being a likeminded individual - and this is ultimately who your partner should be, right? And worst case scenario you now have more friends. It's a win-win situation. Many people believe that once you become friends with someone, chances of romance with them decreases. I'd say it's not exactly true. Not even because it is possible to discover mutual feelings later, but because if there is attraction to begin with, you will simply notice that before you can fully become friends, BUT the person COULD be your friend if there was nothing more between you - that's the key. You're looking for friends, for genuine connections. And if you find more, then it's bingo. But if your explicit goal is to find affection, all you will achieve is losing out on many possible friendships. Where should you start? Places you want to go are places that meet three important criteria: - You'd be comfortable there even alone - The kind of people you like go there (for example if you're a fan of rock music, then something like a rock bar) - It is a place where people go with the assumption that someone might strike a conversation and they'll be ok with it (so for example a pub or a magic the gathering club, not the library or swimming track) The mindset should be "I am going there to have fun and maybe meet some people". Reality is that it is very much possible that 1/2 or 3/4 times you go there you will not meet anyone new or interesting. It needs to be a place that you will enjoy regardless, else you will feel miserable or might become desperate when alone. Path 2: Online dating (Tinder, Bumble, Hinge etc.) In my experience here's what worked to get my profile from 2 matches/week to 20/week: - First picture done by a professional photographer, picture selected from a photoshoot by a group of friends. Obviously was wearing the best hairstyle and clothes, next pictures casual, depicting the following things: me doing a thing I like, me out with a group of friends, me in interesting place, a meme - Bit the bullet and bought premium. Obviously totally optional, but it helps the numbers. - ONLY tried to match with people who looked and seemed like someone I'd happily go on a date, talk with, felt attracted to. No point in matching with people I'd ghost later anyway. - Description was short but descriptive. Age, location, hobby, first date suggestions. - First message was always something along the lines of (and this is potentially not the best move, but worked for me): "Hey, happy we matched! I like (something about this person that is visible in the profile). Wanna grab something liquid? Tea, coffee, a drink, whatever else you like?" submitted by

The hottest hairstyles for men 2026 (women love these)
Let’s face it, bad hair can ruin your whole vibe. It happens to everyone, getting stuck in a style that’s been outdated for years or going too bold with a trend that doesn’t suit your face shape. And let’s not even start on how much content is out there, from TikTok barbers to Instagram influencers, dishing out advice that doesn’t always hold up. This post is cutting through the noise, diving into the key hairstyles set to dominate 2026, researched from legit sources like GQ, Men’s Health, and even stylists interviewed in podcasts. Men’s hair trends for 2026 are all about balance: stylish yet approachable, modern yet timeless. Whether you’re aiming to impress or just looking to refresh your look, these styles stand the test of time and guarantee attention. Here’s the lineup that's heating up for 2026: The Classic Undercut with a Twist The undercut isn’t going anywhere, but it’s evolving. Think softer fades and messy texture on top. A barber featured in GQ’s men’s grooming issue (July 2023) mentioned that clients are leaning towards a more rugged, lived-in version. Women notice when it’s effortless but not lazy. The Tousled Curtain Bangs Yep, Gen-Z brought the '90s back with curtains, but 2026 leans more mature. Think Timothée Chalamet’s modern take: soft, tousled layers around the forehead. The Journal of Fashion Studies revealed that "movement around the face" makes hair immediately more dynamic and attractive. The Textured French Crop Short, sharp, and ridiculously chic. A clean fade with a textured top gives off a confident, low-maintenance vibe (without actually being low-maintenance). It’s endorsed by several stylists in Men’s Health for being universally flattering. The Grown-Out Ivy League Longer sides, natural part, and a bit of volume up top. Perfect for office to date night. A 2023 study in Psychological Reports even noted that styles showing "neat yet natural elements" boost perceptions of trustworthiness and confidence. The Buzzcut Glow-Up Buzzcuts are leveling up with subtle fades around the edges and a sharp lineup. This one works especially well if you keep your beard game strong. A grooming podcast, "Blades & Banter," suggested pairing it with scalp care routines to rock that fresh look. Some universal tips for pulling off any style: Know your face shape. Oval? Lucky you, everything works. Round? Go for volume on top. Square? Softer edges balance your strong jawline. Invest in quality products. Oribe’s texture sprays and Baxter of California clays came up again and again in stylist recommendations. Communicate with your barber. Bring photos but be open to their tweaks. A barber on Reddit once said, "A confident cut means adapting trends to you, not copying trends blindly." Your hair’s literally the first thing people notice. Test out a fresh style for 2026, because when your hair looks good, you feel unstoppable. Women notice. Everyone notices. submitted by /u/Lunaversi3 to r/MindsetConqueror [link] [comments]

The 7 sexiest hairstyles for men according to women: the ACTUAL playbook nobody talks about
let's be real. every article about attractive hairstyles for men says the same garbage. "get a haircut that suits your face shape." "ask your barber what works." "just be confident." wow, thanks, revolutionary stuff. i spent way too long digging through attraction psychology research, surveyed threads with thousands of women's responses, and looked at what actually gets noticed. turns out the science of why certain hairstyles trigger attraction is completely different from generic grooming advice. here's the step by step. Step 1: Understand Why Hair Matters More Than You Think This isn't vanity. It's biology. Hair signals health, youth, and genetic fitness. Studies show women rate men with fuller, well-styled hair as more attractive and more trustworthy within milliseconds. Your hairstyle is doing half the work before you even open your mouth. The problem? Most guys pick styles based on what's easy, not what actually works for their features. That stops now. Step 2: Learn What Creates Visual Attraction Here's where most advice fails, it skips the why. Attraction research shows women respond to contrast, texture, and movement in hair. A style that creates dimension beats a flat, lifeless cut every time. the thing is, you can read about this stuff forever and still not apply it to yourself. what helped me was BeFreed, a personalized learning app that generates custom audio lessons from books and research. i typed something like "how to improve my appearance and understand what women find attractive" and it built a whole learning path pulling from attraction psychology, grooming experts, even evolutionary biology sources. the virtual coach Freedia let me ask specific questions about my situation and recommended content based on my goals. a friend at Google put me onto it and honestly it helped me connect dots i never would have on my own. Step 3: The Textured Quiff Volume on top, tapered sides. This works because it adds height and frames the face. Women consistently rank this in top three across surveys. Ask for 3-4 inches on top, finger-styled with matte product. Step 4: The Classic Taper Fade Clean, masculine, versatile. The gradient effect draws attention upward to your eyes. Works on basically every face shape. This is the "safe but effective" choice. Step 5: The Messy Medium Length Slightly grown out, intentionally undone. This triggers the "effortlessly attractive" response. Think 4-6 inches with natural texture. Use sea salt spray, not gel. Step 6: The Slicked Back Undercut High contrast between top and sides signals boldness. Research shows women associate this with confidence and dominance. Keep sides at a 1-2 guard, top long enough to push back. Step 7: The Buzz Cut (If You Have The Face For It) Strong jawline? This works. It signals confidence because you're not hiding behind hair. Manly Hair by Paul McGregor covers how to know if minimal styles suit your features, solid read if you're considering going short. Step 8: Match The Style To Your Texture Stop fighting your natural hair. Curly? Embrace it with a curly fringe or textured crop. Straight and fine? The quiff or slick back adds needed volume. Thick and wavy? Medium length lets it do the work. The Men's Hair Book by Eric Bandholz breaks this down with specific product recommendations for each type, worth grabbing. Step 9: Maintenance Is The Actual Secret The sexiest hairstyle is the one that looks intentional. Get trims every 3-4 weeks. Use a quality pomade or clay, not drugstore gel. The app Booksy makes scheduling barber appointments stupid easy. Women notice effort. Not vanity, but the kind of self-respect that shows you give a damn. That's the real playbook. submitted by /u/the_Kunal_77 to r/MenWithDiscipline [link] [comments]

Did the short hairstyle of women did a full circle ?
Like from that being the conservative /average standard norm in like the 1920s , existing but maybe less in the 1930s,1940s ,then 1960s with hippies it was kinda gone kinda came back with punk/alt and today it exists again but signals "progressive" than conservative. submitted by /u/lylefromdallas to r/generationology [link] [comments]

I don’t want to be in my friends wedding anymore
I’m in the bridal party for a wedding I honestly do not want to attend at this point. The entire planning process has been a complete mess. When my friend first announced her engagement last year, I really tried to help her get organized because I know planning is not her strong suit. We even met for lunches with her mother in law, who was paying for the wedding, to try to get things moving. Unfortunately those meetings went nowhere and nothing ever actually got accomplished. For months I kept asking her to start a group chat with the bridesmaids so we could all be in the loop and help plan things together. My thinking was that if we coordinated as a group, it would take pressure off of her. Instead I got a text at two in the morning on Valentine’s Day asking if it would be okay to start a group chat. At that point I just thought, why are you asking permission, just make the chat and move forward. Now we are one week away from the wedding and only four out of the ten bridesmaids even have their dresses. The dress information was only sent out at the end of February, or at least that is when some of us heard about it. I also just received a text this weekend asking if we could donate money and attend a bachelorette party this Saturday and Sunday. It feels like new requests and decisions are still coming in constantly at the last minute. The schedule is also confusing. The rehearsal dinner is Friday evening but the wedding is Sunday evening, with the reception not starting until seven. Normally that would not be a big deal, but the wedding is about three hours away in the middle of nowhere with nothing planned in between those days. There are also unexpected expenses. We were originally told that hair and makeup would be covered because the bride wanted everyone to have the same hairstyle. Now we have to pay for it ourselves, which is apparently going to be about four hundred dollars. I would not have minded contributing if we had known earlier, but it is frustrating to find out about another large cost at the last minute. The dresses are also extremely questionable. They are Barney purple and the hairstyle is this side swept Taylor Swift look from around 2011. The original dress idea was a short A line tutu. I told her that looked more like something for a junior prom. Keep in mind that most of the women in the bridal party are over thirty seven and have kids. Her daughter is twenty one and I am the next youngest at thirty two with an infant. Her response was that A line looks good on everyone. I think she received a lot of pushback because the dress changed, but the new one somehow looks even worse. On top of that, I now have to buy a backup dress just in case the original one does not arrive in time. At this point it feels like I am hemorrhaging money for someone else’s event. This is not my wedding, my child, or my life event. To make things even more complicated, my husband and I will have to leave the reception early because he has meetings on Monday that he absolutely cannot miss. The whole situation just feels chaotic and exhausting. I’m not being dramatic on the chaos. She doesn’t even have a cake. submitted by /u/thisisdy to r/weddingshaming [link] [comments]

Short hair on women hairdressers
I recently moved to Leeds (near city centre) and was wondering what are good hairdressers that could cut and shave a short hair hairstyle on a woman? What I've noticed is that many hairdressers can only do long hair and can't shave the sides well and if i go to barbers most of them can shave the sides well but can't cut the top nicely. I'll add a picture of more or less what hairstyle i have. Ideally the suggestions dont cost an arm and a leg 🫣 thank you! submitted by /u/No_Persimmon51 to r/Leeds [link] [comments]

My boyfriend (31M) thinks it’s ok to tell me what to wear (31F) and he doesn’t understand it’s upsetting
I am not The OOP, OOP is u/xmzjKakakdkdks My boyfriend (31M) thinks it’s ok to tell me what to wear (31F) and he doesn’t understand it’s upsetting. TRIGGER WARNING: controlling behavior, objectification Original Post June 18, 2020 We’ve been together 6 years. Over the past couple years, my clothing has become more and more of an issue. I’m not a girly girl. I don’t put on a full face of makeup every day. My style is generally more casual. With that said, I am by no means a slob. I almost always have my nails done. I wear a lot of denim in different shades and cuts, fitted leggings, tees, tanks, and sneakers. I have a lot of cute flats too. I’m not much for heels though - just on special occasions. On an average day, I’ll do a quick simple down hairstyle or sometimes (less often) a ponytail. I’ll usually just do some eyeliner and a tinted moisturizer. If we are going out on the weekend, I’ll do a full face of makeup (the whole shebang). My boyfriend grew up with a mom and grandma that get dolled up to the 9s just to go to Target. They live for name brands, constantly talk about shopping, and are ALWAYS done up. I did not - my mom ran to the store in jeans and a T-shirt. It was normal. I’ve tried explaining to him that I’m simply not that person, but he doesn’t seem to get it. He says I’m not fashionable. So, I did my best and ordered an entire closet full of clothing based on things HE likes. My entire closet is now extremely tight, fitted short dresses, short skirts, and almost all crop tops. I’m a conservative dresser. So, wearing this stuff is pretty uncomfortable for me, and not stuff I’d every really buy on my own for myself. Frankly, I don’t want to leave the house every single day with my stomach and belly button showing at 31 years old. I’m not 15. (I’m in good shape but that’s not the point). He thinks he can pick my outfits. Literally at this point, any time we are heading out, he goes to my closet and picks out my clothes. If I say anything about not wanting to wear something (I.e. - I feel bloated today, really would rather not wear a crop top) he gets immediately upset. There have even been a couple times when it was really cold and I told him I didn’t want to wear shorts and a crop top BECAUSE I WAS COLD - and he got upset saying it wasn’t cold. He says I always make an excuse not wear stuff he wants me to wear. I guess from his perspective it seems that way, but he doesn’t understand that he wants me to dress in a way that is totally foreign and not natural to me. A while back, I wanted to go to my aunts house for a BBQ and he insisted I wear a VERY tight and short dress. I told him my family is conservative and that it was not appropriate to wear. He flipped out and it turned into a huge argument. I have tried over and over to explain this to him, but he just keeps saying that how I dress matters to him and that it’s my fault for being closed minded, for not listening to him, and that I have a confidence issue. I don’t know what to do. I have also tried telling him that he’s hurting my feelings and making me feel unattractive. Any suggestions? TL;dr Boyfriend wants to tell me what to wear and I don’t know how to deal with it. TOP COMMENTS StarStriker3 Jesus, this is insanely weird and controlling behavior. You’re not a Barbie doll, he doesn’t get to pick your outfits for you. Please tell him in no uncertain terms that he is not allowed to pick your clothes and that you are going to wear what you like and what makes you feel comfortable and if he doesn’t like it, he can shove it or leave. ETA this sort of thing will only get worse the longer you put up with it and he seems to be testing how much you will let him control your life or if you’ll put your foot down. I’d leave him if I were you. ~ blackandwhitepaint You deal with it by leaving a controlling asshole. This shit is abusive behavior. He is a big boy; he understands your words. He knows how you feel. He does not care. Because he does not love you. He just wants to own you. OOP added in the comments I guess I always tell myself “maybe it’s me...maybe other guys do this too?” At times I feel so confused that I can’t tell whether what’s happening is really a problem, or whether I’m just overreacting. This thread is...a wake up call. Update - rareddit June 28, 2020 (10 days later) After continued arguing, I finally moved out of the apartment about a week ago because we decided that we needed space. He begged me to move back, but I said no. I agreed to do couples therapy along with my individual therapy. My therapist told me it would be normal to go back and forth and even repeatedly think about going back to him because of the psychological impact of everything I've dealt with for 6 years. She said to just keep working on it, and not feel the need to make a final decision before I'm emotionally ready. The first couples session we did was a disaster with him screaming the entire time and the therapist implying as much as she could that this was REALLY nearly impossible. We then decided to look for another therapist to continue "trying." All week, I've been calling/emailing different therapists trying to get an appointment. I finally found one with an open spot and asked my fiancé to send his insurance card. Of course, because it's now beyond clear that he doesn't give a crap, he delayed sending it to me for 2 days. Never once asked if he could help, or if I needed any help finding someone. Per usual, it's all on me. I was having a lot of emotional turmoil, obsessive thoughts, back and forth and asked him if he wanted to do something together tonight just to talk about what we are doing and where this is going. He told me he "really needed space to think on our relationship and meditate on it." I was upset, but I said fine. About an hour later, he accidentally dialed me. I picked up saying "hello," and just heard mumbling in the background. As I waited, thinking he called me to talk, I heard him and a woman's voice. The phone then hung up. I called back asking what that was all about. He seemed confused and said he was at his mom's house. Impossible - because I had just spoken to his mom a few minutes ago. I called him out, and he said "ok, my aunt stopped by the apartment." Again - makes no sense and totally contradicts what he said 2 second before. He then said "Ok, fine, I admit it - I invited xyz over. Let's talk about it later" He then hung up. Now, for the past 2 months, a female coworker of his has been calling him nonstop to ask for help with work stuff. It was always a little suspicious to me because he's only been at that office for a few months and this girl has worked there for years. Why does she need to come to him specifically, with every single question? He is not a supervisor or in any managerial role. She's also called him a few times to ask for relationship advice and mention how she "likes bad boys." Why? Does she not have other friends, cousins, brothers, sisters? She has to call my fiancé? Anyways, I just gave it the benefit of the doubt. But he would light up any time she came up in conversation and refer to her as his "work girlfriend." At the same time, he had a couple female friends from his last job. In the past, I saw some flirty texts but he insisted the two ladies were a lesbian couple and they were just friends. I didn't like it and told him it made me uncomfortable. After he got caught, he insisted its the lesbian couple over at our apartment, having dinner with him - that he paid for - while I've been sitting at my mom's house for 2 weeks agonizing about this relationship, trying to set up therapy, and feeling guilty for hurting him. Meanwhile he needs "time to himself" to "reflect on the relationship" aka hang out with two women who he knows I have a problem with due to past texts. I say all that long drawn out crap to say this - that is the last straw. All the screaming at me, yelling, gas lighting, manipulation, temper tantrums, punching walls, constant need for validation, minimizing, and abuse I've endured was topped off by this. I honestly don't know that he hasn't cheated on me with the coworker either. I am done. I am so done. I only need a date when I can go by and move all of my stuff out. Never again. tl;dr I am ending my relationship with my manipulative, narcissistic fiancé. FINAL COMMENTS Francesca_N_Furter He didn't call you by accident, he was trying to make you jealous. stephmuffin That was my thought. He didn’t “accidentally” call when another woman was speaking. If he was really cheating, he’d work a hell of a lot harder to cover his tracks. He wanted to hurt her and rub it in. OOP I definitely consider this a possibility, which makes it even sicker than it being an accident. Who knows. The funny thing is that I know any conversation about this will be about how I’m “controlling” and not letting him have female friends (bc I don’t think these women are interested in friendship). I now know he’s projecting, manipulating and gaslighting. ~ Chris33133 " I only need a date when I can go by and move all of my stuff out ..." When you go, take one or more friends with you to help. That will move things along quickly and help keep him under control. OOP I plan to go when he isn’t home. Hopefully, fingers crossed, there will be an opportunity tomorrow as he almost always has dinner plans with his mom on Sundays. My mom and sister will be going with me to speed up the process. About 70’s women’s hairstyles: so I’ve done some research and it seems to me it was either very thick and short, like in Rhoda, or the shag, like Jane Fonda, Joan Jett, Stevie Nicks, and Suzie Q. Did in-between layered cuts like a Rachel Green straight layered cut not exist at all?
I do feel the answer is no and I feel stupid asking this. But still I wanted to be sure 😅 Thank you 😇 submitted by /u/PenguinMonoEggs to r/1970s [link] [comments]

Advice for younger guys (hookup vs husband material)
So recently I’ve been seeing multiple post from guys asking what the deal is with girls calling them husband material but not worth a hookup and I figured I’d throw my advice out there for younger guys. Basically when I was in my late teens/early 20’s I experienced the insult/comment that I would make great a husband but was not hookup material. For any women reading this, yes saying this to a guy is an insult. This hits directly at a man’s self worth. What I did to change this: So here’s what worked for me and it may work for you as well, if you want to change women’s perception of you. I started taking working out more seriously. I wasn’t fat or anything but I made sure I ate better/exercised more. Not only did this improve my overall appearance but it made me feel a bit better about myself. Changed my hairstyle and styled my beard. Get yourself a good haircut that suits your facial structure, this makes a noticeable difference. Also I knew I didn’t have the best jaw line so I grew a beard (keep it neat) Gave women I was interested in/talking to way less attention. Basically if I got a txt from a women I’d wait at least 30mins-1hr to respond, at least create the illusion your always busy. Always be confident!! Honestly fake it till you make it. All of this combined made a huge difference. I went from being with 1 women (who I was in a long term relationship with) to hooking up with 5 different women within the span of 2 months. The most satisfying was a women who I had tried to get go on a date with me 4 months before the changes. She had told me “you’re really great but I’m trying to have fun right now”. Well I ran into her after bettering myself and we hooked up after a couple days of talking, and she wanted to keep seeing me but I ghosted her. Needless to say it was a lot of fun finally being the guy women wanted physical, but in a way it is kind of depressing long term. To make a long story short I ended up meeting my now wife (been together 11 years now) and am very happy with life. *some keys: value yourself (don’t date girls who viewed you as a safe option but not attractive), be the best you that you can be! submitted by /u/Shrimp_Titan to r/AskMenAdvice [link] [comments]

I [23/F] don't know whether my SO of two year's [24/M] appearance-related "preferences" cross the line
I am not The OOP, OOP is u/throwawaytppcp I [23/F] don't know whether my SO of two year's [24/M] appearance-related "preferences" cross the line. TRIGGER WARNING: negging, abusive behavior, description of genital injuries Original Post June 14, 2016 I'm looking for a little unbiased advice and am hoping this might be the place to get it. Throughout our relationship, my SO has always been very detailed and specific in expressing his preferences regarding my appearance. I guess I'm fairly defensive when it comes to appearance-related criticism and I don't know if I'm just too sensitive and need to compromise or if his requests are a bit excessive. SO has made a number of sort of cutting, backhanded compliment type comments over the years. Along the lines of "Your lady parts aren't my usual type, but because it's you I can handle it." I've talked to him about it and he doesn't seem to have a good explanation for this behavior, but agreed to try to stop. My privates are the most frequent subject of contention. He has stated that he prefers "smooth, tight vaginas with minimal wrinkling" which apparently doesn't describe mine. There's very little I can do about that, so his comment naturally made me feel a bit self-conscious, especially regarding future intimacy. I also don't completely shave down there, which he absolutely hates. I have extremely sensitive skin, in general, and I find that shaving or waxing especially intimate areas just isn't tolerable. I've seen other posts where women described similar issues, so it can't be all that uncommon. SO is entitled to his preference, of course, but having to hear his complaints every other day just gets really old. He even researched laser hair removal, which I had to explain that I just cannot afford at this time. SO also complains about the length of my hair. It is about shoulder length, which I find to be flattering and easy to style. SO wishes it was much longer and has pointed out that I wore my hair very long when I was a young teenager. I attempted to explain that people change their hairstyles and that I no longer like wearing my hair very long or have time in the mornings to style a mass of thick, bum-length hair. His response was: "It doesn't even have to be very long- just long enough to cover your nipples." I'm at my wit's end trying to accommodate his preferences and I am beginning to wonder whether we are simply incompatible and I might be better off ending things. tl;dr: How much should you reasonably be expected to change about your appearance to please a partner? EDIT: Wow, I'm blown away by how much attention this has gotten! I'm adding a couple of pieces of information here that lots of people have asked about. Yes, SO is very into porn and has been from a very young age. The only other actual relationships he has had were when he was 14 and 16, respectively, so he doesn't have a lot of experience with adult women's vaginas/labia/pubic hair, etc. in real life. RELEVANT COMMENTS Eel28 It's fucked up that he's telling you something about you that you literally cannot change...i.e vagina wrinkles. Gotta be honest, I've never ever heard a guy complain about wrinkles down there. It'd be like you saying that his balls are too low but since it's him, you can deal with it. I've never actually changed anything about myself for a partner unless I like the look as well. I wouldn't make a request to my SO to change something about him unless it's something he wants as well. Blabermouthe I suppose there could be some absurd extreme examples, but unless OP is dragging her labia lips around the floor when she walks, I think she's ok. OOP Ha! Thankfully nothing this...extreme is going on, but I got a good laugh out of the descriptions. ~ RedMella Hey OP. I imagine this is going to get lost in the comments, and to be honest I also don't want to go through 83 comments to see if someone else said this already. Does he watch a lot of porn? Because that's what he's describing. There is nothing wrong with watching porn, but it sounds like it might be his only exposure to women. Next he'll ask you to get those awful acrylic french tips and 'sexily' jam them into another woman's vagina while making the most ridiculous sounds. ;) He sounds pretty immature and actually kind of cruel. Get rid of him and find yourself a man who knows how women work. OOP Yes, he watches loads of porn and I, too, have wondered if that's where some of his ideas and preferences about the female body come from. RedMella If it was just the shaving I wouldn't have said anything, but the combo of comments about hair + shaving + genital shape = porn. A lot of guys learn 'everything they know' from porn as young men but unlearn as they go along. His lack of knowledge isn't what bothers me the most, it's his simple mean-ness. Good luck with the situation! Update June 17, 2016 (3 days later) This morning I decided to sit my boyfriend down and explain how hurtful his comments had been. He became very defensive and stated that the labia comment was meant as a compliment. Furthermore, he expressed that he thinks I'm far too sensitive, lack self confidence, and that nobody else would be bothered by his "negging". From the responses friends have given me when I've mentioned this (and from the comments on my previous post), I really don't think that's true. Constantly picking apart your significant other's appearance is the abnormal behavior. His reaction really drove home for me how selfish and insensitive the dude is. I could name numerous situations during the course of the relationship where he played the martyr, disregarding my needs and feelings entirely. Cases in point (All entirely true- sadly): He managed to break a sex toy (that he had purchased and that I hadn't even wanted to use) so forcefully that it cut me "down there". I got to go to urgent care bleeding from the vajayjay and he texted me saying how much it "sucked that he hadn't gotten off". *He demanded to use my laptop to play video games while on vacation, caught the charger cord with his foot while he flailed around playing World of Warcraft, and smashed it to the ground. He had a fit when I asked him to pay for the repairs and went home 10 days early (without me). *He wore threadbare gym shorts to my grandfather's funeral and watched porn on his phone during the service. Point being, the guy's a selfish, disrespectful jerk. I put up with it for far too long and I'm just done. Nobody's significant other should make them feel as crummy as he did me. I hope that he is able to change his behavior and find happiness in a relationship in the future. As for me, I will take my "lady garden" somewhere that it will be appreciated in future. Thanks to all who commented. Your kind advice helped me see what I needed to do. tl;dr: My boyfriend continually insulted my lady parts. I tried to talk to him, but he just made excuses and blamed his behavior on me, so I broke up with him. RELEVANT COMMENTS Mcabacus HE WATCHED PORN ON HIS PHONE AT YOUR GRANDAD'S FUNERAL. HE HOSPITALISED YOU VIA SEX TOY. Holy moly, well done on leaving. glassisnotglass How did this guy survive to age 24? OOP His mother. Money, laundry, groceries, consoling and defending him when someone gets mad at him for being a douchebag. That's the only way he's made it. Alauraize I know. I just kept thinking, "This guy can't get any worse, can he?" Then I read that he watched porn at a funeral, and I knew beyond a doubt that the only thing in the world that matters to this guy are his boner and his feelings (in that order). I can't even imagine putting someone in the hospital during sex and being anything but concerned, angry at myself, and supremely apologetic. (I mean, I can't imagine hospitalizing my boyfriend because of sex either, but I'm aware that accidents do happen.) I really can't imagine being disappointed that I didn't get an orgasm. And even in my wildest dreams, I can't envision myself complaining about that to the person that I hospitalized. Not only did this guy have those thoughts. Oh no. He thought that they were so important, justified, and right that he conveyed them to the person that he hospitalized. I can't even fathom that. Then he breaks his girlfriend's laptop. Again, accidents happen. Yeah, it sounds like he was being careless, but nobody's perfect. But instead of being sorry for his mistakes and offering to make amends by paying for repairs or at the very least and only if he can't afford it yet, offering to cover what portion he currently can and paying back the rest later, he refuses. Not only that, but he can't understand why anyone would ask for compensation for damaged property. In fact, he feels so wronged by this entirely reasonable request that he leaves their vacation ten days early. And then he's at someone's funeral, and he is so immune to the person's death, the grief of the dead man's friends and family, and the solemnity of the occasion that he watches porn on his phone? At his gf's grandfather's funeral so that he can really embarrass and disrespect in front of her family? Honestly, the part where he insulted her genitals is the least of his offenses. And the last post really made me mad and reached what I thought were the limits of douchebaggery. OP, you are so well rid of this guy. He is pond scum. Edit: It also just hit me that he didn't even take OP to the urgent care facility to treat vaginal bleeding that he caused. At least I'm guessing that that's why he couldn't explain how sad his boner was in person. OOP You're correct that he didn't take me. He refused to even ride along, actually. As you've stated, he was a real winner. Wait -THAT'S the reason most girls & women don't get short hair?!?!
A while ago, I was asking myself just that. I was standing in a line for a club, when I realized that in this crowd of people, nearly ALL women had the same hairstyle: Long. Flat. Absolutely no braids, decoration or otherwise. Very few had short hair, and even fewer styled it. Back then, I got the arguments "it's not in fashion" -but somehow I just couldn't believe that. I mean. Nowadays we have SO MANY different forms of fashion! You really telling me they all include long hair? Dressed to the nines, topped with boring, plain-ass hair?! Anyway, at home I began researching. And...the reason still confuse me. Apparently, a lot of women say it's cause shorter hair is harder to style? "I can throw my hair into a ponytail and not think about it. You can't do that with short hair." For context: I had long hair for most of my life. The "thick" kind: More monster than follicles -every day was a fucking fight. Honestly, it's a tragedy I didn't cut it earlier. Not only was the weight gone, the washing easier, but I also needed to brush & style less. It's like my hair FINALLY fell in its place! It'd even curl a little at the ends! With long hair, I couldn't keep a curl longer than 5min! "Your hair is too heavy", my mother would tell me. Now. Given. I know that my reality isn't every womans. And I also won't judge those who genuinely love their long hair. Short-Hair supremacy is not in action (yet.) That said: I'm still interested. Do you have long/short hair? What is your reason to not cut it? Do you ever plan/consider short hair? And most importantly: Are y'all really not styling it, just cause hair-decoration is not in fashion?!?! submitted by /u/BrainBurnFallouti to r/TwoXChromosomes [link] [comments]

Bengali women and short hair
So here in Kolkata, I am here for a friend's wedding whom I met in US, one trend quite observant in Kolkata specifically is that the women with short hair (mostly pixie cuts) are the highest anywhere in the country, with each having with some really different hairstyles. This is a thing I observed in US too among the bengali diaspora, more than half women had pixie or bob hairstyles. I don't care what hairstyle a women should have, everyone can have any hairstyle they want but it is just a casual question coming in my mind, is it some trend, mindset or culture kinda thing among Bengalis? Edit: Ofc south India women have short hair but the reasons for that is quite known, just asking abt bongs as like south India, they don't have hair donation culture in temples often. submitted by /u/Longjumping-Ebb7892 to r/kolkata [link] [comments]

Someone tried to stop me from using the women's bathroom because they mistake me for a guy.
This happened when I finally had the nerve to try a pixie-cut hairstyle. I was really happy about it because it felt like me. I will admit that when I shop for clothes, I do not care for gender norms. For example, I bought a man's Hawaiian shirt because it felt breezy to me, and I really liked its fabric. So, on to the story. I was in the in the mall with my then-boyfriend and went straight for the women's bathroom as usual. There was no one there except for a woman putting on makeup. I went inside and was almost close to one of the stalls when said lady quickly approached me with makeup tools still in hand and said, "Isn't this comfort room for women only?" And I was confused, like, "Yeah?" because there's obviously a big sign out there. But then, I realized she was staring intently at my chest as if trying to determine if I'm really a girl or some guy entering a woman's bathroom. And I really don't understand why she'd think of the latter because I was wearing short-shorts with leggings. Sure, I was wearing the breezy men's Hawaiian shirt but it was unbuttoned and loose to reveal a tight black tank top underneath. Like, that's definitely feminine. The whole situation felt so ridiculous to me that I made eye contact, pointed in the direction of my shorts with both hands, and casually asked, "Wanna check?" If she's gonna make this weird, I'm gonna make it weirder. Wanna enter a stall with me and have a peek? Sure why not? We're both women (sarcastically) I like to think the silence that followed made her realize who was being a creep because she backed out immediately and said no. I finally did my business in the stall, and while I was washing my hands, she apologized, and I told her it was no big deal. But I have to apologize to the trans people out there who get treated like that when they're just minding their own business. Edit: Wow, I never realize this would blow up. And reading the comments, I wanted to believe in good faith she learned her lesson but maybe you're all right that she wasn't sorry she harrassed me and more sorry that she harrassed the wrong person. One of the comments gave me a helpful tip on what to say next time. Thanks. Edit 2: Hehe, some people have clocked in which country I am. Didn't know other countries don't use that term. Edit 3: To all the other people saying transphobic bull in the comments, knock it off. Trans women are women. submitted by /u/SunbathingNapCat to r/traumatizeThemBack [link] [comments]

Dress codes are classist and pointless
Forcing men not to wear shorts in the baking heat is bullshit. Forcing women to wear uncomfortable clothing or make up to be presentable is bullshit. Making everyone wear the same heinous shade of blue or red is bullshit. Dressing a certain way so customers can lord over you and role play being upper class... demeaning and bullshit. The idea that productivity is determined by what clothes you wear! You guessed it! BULLSHIT Why do we need a whole different wardrobe just to sit in a fucking office. I get it if you're a lawyer and stupid people will think you're bad at your job if you don't dress fancy. But for the rest of us it's bullshit. Did I mention I think dresscodes are bullshit? Edit: I'm not saying dress codes should never exist and people should be able to come into the office naked or filthy or some shit like that. But as they exist right now in most places, they're bullshit. Edit 2: hairstyle rules are also bullshit and on top of being classist are also commonly racist Edit 3: Sports teams get a pass Edit 4: what is people's obsession with other people wearing pajama bottoms? Since when did the fabric of your pants affect your or your coworkers' abilities to work a computer? Edit 5: obviously safety equipment doesn't count and it makes perfect sense to make people wear that stuff. Edit 6: that includes clothing that you wear while preparing food or for health and safety reasons submitted by /u/DuineDeDanann to r/antiwork [link] [comments]

AITA for telling my wife that her hair looks terrible?
For context to my post, my and I are both 38, we have been married for 10 years and together for 13 years. About 3 years ago my wife noticed she had a few gray hairs. Her hairstylist dyed my wife's hair blonde and put some very big highlights in. My wife says the big highlights hide the grays from her fresh not dyed roots where it grows. She also had her hairstylist cut it, give her bangs and cut the hair around her face shorter because it would hide wrinkles. I never noticed my wife having wrinkles but she said she did. The new hairstyle was a big change because before her hair was a bit longer, black and she didn't have any bangs or short parts. Personally I think the blonde doesn't look right on her at all, the highlights aren't natural and if I were her I would not have bangs. But she likes it and it makes her more confident so if she is happy it's enough for me. My question comes about because my wife's best friend is getting a divorce and it is not a pleasant one. She goes to the same place as my wife to get her hair done. She told my wife her ex-husband said she wasn't as hot as when they got married and made a bunch of general insults about her looks and her hair. After this happened my wife started asking me if I'm still attracted to her. I said yes. She asked if I liked her hair. I said it makes her happy so I do. But she kept asking me if I liked it. I don't know why it started after 3 years and the questions about her looks and her hair kept going. Especially after she had a virtual book club and wine night with her friends. She kept asking me and my answer was always the same. One night she asked me to swear on our daughter's life. Which was ridiculous for something so minor. But since she wouldn't stop I admitted I preferred her old hair color and style without layering or bangs, but I also said if it makes her happy it's enough for me and a different hairstyle isn't going to change my attraction to her. She is upset with me over that answer. She has called me an asshole to my face. She told her friends I insulted her hair (which I did not). She even asked me if I would prefer her sister now because she has black hair but does not dye it or cut it like my wife. I don't know where that came from, her sister is gay and lives in another country. She is perfectly nice but that's it. I've never thought of her like that. Should I have lied when my wife asked me to swear on our daughter's life about her hair? Am I wrong for not understanding why hiding gray hair is so important for women? Am I the asshole for saying I preferred her old hair when she kept asking me and should I apologize? If I was truly wrong I would apologize for the misunderstanding. I do love my wife and I hate that she's mad at me over hair. submitted by /u/Scared_Brisket4400 to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]
