AIO for not wanting to give my step daughter the room I finished renovating?
In 2017, my husband and I bought a house. Initially, Susan (now 16) was assigned to "room A." However, after a week of living there, she started complaining that she could hear every sound from our neighbor, who was partying a lot at the time. She also didn't like that her window faced a forest, and besides the neighbor's house, all she could see was darkness and trees in night. We ended up moving her to "room B." Room A has been empty ever since, turning into a bit of a storage room. At the end of last year I decided to take care of it and, using only my savings, I did a huge renovation - replacing the windows, soundproofing the walls, etc., etc. I also bought new furniture, painted the walls, laid a carpet, replaced the lamp, etc., etc. Now it looks like a very cozy library/office/living room. And I love it. But Susan isn't happy, and as soon as I started renovating, she started demanding that I give her the room back. Suddenly, she started claiming that her own room was too small (it's bigger than mine and my husband's, and the same size as our other two children), that she hated that all she could see through her bedroom window was a brick wall, and that it wasn't fair that I'd taken a room "for myself" that had its own walk-in closet and so on. My husband is on her side, but I think it's unfair. My husband has two rooms in the basement to himself, one he converted into a gym and the other into work office. Children (7F, 12M, and Susan) have larger rooms than us, and much of the garden and main living room are converted for their needs. Furthermore, neither my husband nor Susan's mother paid a penny for the entire renovation. I did everything myself. So I told my husband that if he cared so much, he should give Susan one of his rooms, but neither he nor Susan liked the idea, and now they're both mad at me. submitted by /u/Bulky-Scale-7830 to r/AmIOverreacting [link] [comments]

Mounting a Small TV (7lbs) With Drywall Anchors: Is This a Bad Idea?
I searched around about this topic but most of the discussion tended to deal with large, 55"+ TVs. I figured it was worth starting a new thread to get opinions on smaller, lighter TVs. So as the title states, I'm trying to decide whether or not it would be a bad idea to install a wall mount with an articulating arm (this guy) using only drywall anchors. It will be holding a 32" TV that, according to the specs, weighs just under 7lbs without the stand in the corner of my bedroom. For added context, the reason that I'm considering doing this is that I will be mounting this in a location of my room where I may have trouble finding an appropriate stud. My house is relatively small and was built cheaply and stupidly back in the 80s, and I've encountered situations in which the studs in my walls aren't necessarily uniformly spaced. Aside from that, the plan is to mount this in the corner of my room, and depending on where the TV needs to sit I may not have the space to mount this to a stud. Yes, I know they make corner mounts, but those cost money and this is something that I had laying around from a previous place that I lived. I'm reasonably handy and my gut reaction is to say that 7lbs isn't that much and that drywall anchors SHOULD hold it just fine, even if it's hanging away from the wall. Additionally, the plan is to tuck the arm in as close to the wall as possible and, ideally, have the edges of the TV resting against the two walls, which seems like it should take some of the downward force off of the wall mount. That being said, asking for advice is a lot easier than repairing the damage from a TV mount that's come down, so I figured I'd ask. Is this a dumb idea? Should I opt for toggle anchors, rather than standard drywall anchors? Or do folks agree that it shouldn't be a problem for a TV this light? Any and all feedback and recommendations are appreciated! submitted by /u/insufferable__pedant to r/DIY [link] [comments]

1 bedroom apt living alone. Would it be a bad idea to get a dog?
hello. ive grown up with dogs most my life, but my last dog passed away over 6 years ago and theres been whole there ever since rip Gurdy :(. anyways ive always wanted to get another dog, but hesitate because i worry i wont be able to give them the attention they deserve. that said i see people in one bedrooms and less with dogs and its really got me wondering pros and cons of my situation cons (putting cons first because those are my concerns) there isn't a lot but they are big concerns: biggest con first. i work long days on those for days 11 to 12 hrs. this is what worries me the most. its a lot of time in the day the dog will be on there own no yard. my apt allows dogs up to 70 lbs but i worry they'll be couped up/lonley while im at work. pros: im physically active. i run on my own nearly every day so the idea of having to take my dog on a 30+ min walk after work everyday is no problem for me i work 4 day weeks so 3 days out of my week i focus on giving my dog proper attention im financially stable. not loaded by any means otherwise i wouldn't be in a 1 bedroom lol, but my home and job are not going anywhere anytime soon and im prepared for emergency medical bills and getting a dog walker for a few days out of the week is definitely an option i have experience with dogs. not a full blown trainer ofc (tho im excited to learn more), but ive grown up with them and took care of them all my life so im not going in blind at least rural town close to nature. i live in the pnw in a very small town so i have less anxiety if my dog ran off then i would in the city with all the cars and people around. +more places to hike anyways id appreciate some honest feedback. im hoping to get a medium sized dog. a border collie or an ausie are my dream dogs tbh. id love to have a dog i can take on long runs with and train tricks, but i also know that they are high energy dogs so if you have suggestions on breed im all ears on that too Edit: forgot to mention I definitely don't think a puppy is a good idea. Would be looking to adopt an adult for sure. Also need to emphasize that I'm not dead set on a Aussie or a collie at all lol. Just wanted to mention my dream dog, but in my dream I also have a yard and work 2 hrs a week lol. I know they are really active. I'd even open to the Pomeranian someone suggested lol submitted by /u/CourtNo2204 to r/dogs [link] [comments]

My dad pointed this out to me in their 1940s house
Thanks to everyone who responded to my last post for what seems to be a vintage thermostat! After telling my parents what it might be my dad wanted to show me another weird little thing in the house they have no idea what it is. This is located at the base of a door frame in the living room with a fireplace to the left and the bedroom to the right. I turned the knob thing and these small chains started moving. Unsure where it leads and or what it goes to. Any ideas? Also if anyone can make out what the embossed letters are, I'd love to know! submitted by /u/SaikoAngel to r/whatisit [link] [comments]

I’m a frogger living in someone else’s apartment right now. Ask me anything.
(Upd: YES, I USE AI FOR ACCURATE TRANSLATION, STOP BRINGING IT UP. ENGLISH IS MY THIRD LANGUAGE, AND I RUN MY TEXT THROUGH AI FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE) I’m a 20-year-old woman, and for the past few months I’ve been living as a phrogger in an apartment inside a historic building in Saint Petersburg, Russia. I found out about the place while working on a student report about old residential buildings with my classmate (let’s call her Anya). Anya lived in one of those big old apartments—basically a Soviet-era communal flat. It’s a huge apartment split into separate rooms rented by unrelated people, all sharing the same kitchen and bathroom. Everyone has their own room key, plus keys to the building and the main apartment door. While we were filming, Anya mentioned that people in her flat almost never lock their room doors, and the main door is often left open because tenants go into the stairwell to smoke. I remember thinking: Anyone who gets inside the building could just walk into this place. Kind of shocking, because in Russia everyone usually locks everything all the time. She also told me there were two locked storerooms inside the apartment that nobody had entered for years. Apparently, they belong to the state. Both doors were secured with a simple padlock held in place by a few screws—screws you could remove with a basic screwdriver. I was curious, because in old Saint Petersburg buildings, abandoned rooms sometimes hide interesting antiques. I forgot about that place until I dropped out of university. I lost my dorm room, and I couldn’t find an affordable apartment anywhere near my job. After wasting a month’s salary on a tiny overpriced room in another communal flat, I suddenly remembered Anya’s building. And then I had a ridiculous but tempting idea. I grabbed a small bag, a screwdriver, and went there to see if I’d be lucky—or kicked out immediately. I arrived around 3 PM, when most residents should be at work. I waited by the entrance and slipped in when someone walked out. The apartment was, unsurprisingly, unlocked. I stepped in, ready to tell anyone who saw me that I was visiting Anya. But the shared areas were empty. So I pulled out the screwdriver and started removing the screws from one of the padlocks. My hands were shaking, but no one showed up, and eventually the lock gave way. Inside was… just a plain empty storage room. Not a hidden apartment, not a secret chamber filled with antiques. Just four steps wide, six steps long. A dusty bike. An old sewing machine in a wooden case. No window. A small ventilation hole and two electrical outlets—only one of which worked. Bare concrete walls and floor. I decided to see how long I could stay there. The first night felt like an adventure. It got very cold fast, so I ended up spending the night locked in the shared bathroom. After that I went back to the storage room. When the tenants left for work, I tried checking the unlocked bedrooms. I knocked first, and if no one answered, I peeked inside. That same day, I snagged a spare set of three keys from one of the rooms and went back to my rented place. I ordered a sleeping bag, a cheap heater, and a water filter online. The next time I returned to the storage room, it already felt weirdly like home. Turns out Anya had moved out long ago. There are six rooms in the flat, and only three are occupied now: one by a mom and her kid, one by two young women, and one by an old lady who constantly goes out to smoke in the stairwell. I attached a thin wire to the padlock outside so I can pull it back into place from inside and make it look untouched. The storage room is right by the entrance, and nobody pays attention to it, so no one has noticed me. I put a small mattress under my sleeping bag. I fill my water filter from the shared kitchen tap. I enter the empty bedrooms to charge my phone and power bank or use someone’s printer. I shower in the shared bathroom. The heater does a decent job in the tiny room, though I’m still scared that the one working outlet will burn out, leaving me freezing in winter. Every day, I work, eat at a nearby canteen, walk around, talk to people. Then at night I come back to my storage room. I live a pretty normal life—and I don’t pay insane rent. After six months, it honestly feels like this is exactly how things are supposed to be. Upd: OMG, such a huge amount of feedback… I expected people either wouldn’t believe me or would judge me for using AI, and that the post would just get buried. I think I’ve already answered a lot of questions, and they’re starting to repeat. I’ve responded to pretty much everything related to my situation. Honestly, I’ve only used Reddit twice and I’m not an active user, so constantly checking the comments is really draining for me emotionally. And being this open about my situation has been a serious test for my conscience. Please don’t get angry if I ignore your question — I’ve most likely already answered something similar. I’m going to step offline for a while. I’ll check back when I feel ready. My heartfelt thanks to the people who wrote supportive words. I don’t really deserve it, but know this: you’re wonderful people, and your capacity for empathy is a real virtue. submitted by /u/Commercial_Flight912 to r/confession [link] [comments]

(PA) Landlord stole my security camera
I came home from work today to find a note from my landlord "ABSOLUTY NO CAMERAS ON THE PREMISIS!" (no spell check, I guess) A security camera I had setup in my bedroom was missing as well. Do I call the police to report the missing camera? I can't prove it was him but it seems highly likely. Update 11/8/2025- Text Message 11/8/2025 After reading through the comments and thinking about the best options, I decided to send a text to the landlord to help document whats going on. Me: "Hi Lucas, I need to address something serious. My security camera that was in my bedroom is missing, it appears someone entered the unit without notice. I was not informed of any entry. Can you please confirm whether you entered the unit and what happened to the camera? I would like to resolve this quickly. Thank you." Him: "I have no idea what you're talking about. I never went in your room. Maybe you misplaced it. No need to send messages like this." Do I respond back or just take this to a lawyer? Update 11/10/2025- Stolen Security Camera Today I found my security camera in the mailbox, destroyed. Along with a cassette tape (couldn’t care less what’s on it) I filed a police report over the weekend. Set up three separate cameras in my bedroom, all with batteries in case the power is shut off (the power keeps going out periodically for some reason). One camera will be the decoy and the other two are hidden. I want to thank everyone for their helpful advice. I’ve begun searching for a new place and will be moving out as soon as I can. Hopefully I have enough evidence to justify breaking my lease here. Update 11/13/25- Found a lease page and cassette tape placed in my bedroom. Captured footage of someone entering my bedroom while I was at work. They left a page from the lease with a sentence highlighted “No cameras are permitted anywhere on the premises”. I believed it was my landlord up until now. My landlord uses crutches to get around, I’m not sure who this is in the video I’ve found a new place to rent and will be moving in on the 1st of December Update 11/16/2025- (PA) Unannounced entry turned into my landlord destroying my phone Update 11/25/2025- After everything that happened with my landlord and his son, a coworker insisted I stay with him and his family until I can move into my new place. I graciously accepted. On Sunday, I got a notification that my security cameras picked up motion in the bedroom. When I checked the footage, I watched someone step out of the closet and smash a camera with what looked like a hammer. I immediately sent the video to the police and filed a supplemental report. Blink Camera Footage On Monday, my coworker drove me over to the house to help grab the last of my things. While clearing out the closet, we noticed part of the carpet wasn’t fully tacked down. We pulled it back and found a small trap door underneath. It was too dark to see how far down it went, we decided to leave it be and tell the police when we left. On one of our trips out to the truck, the landlord’s son approached us. He told us his father had passed away. It caught us completely off guard. We offered our condolences, he thanked us and walked back down the street to his house. It was brief and calm, which honestly surprised me. When we went back inside to grab my bed, we saw a brown paper bag sitting on the closet shelf. (definitely had not been there earlier.) Inside was what looked like a severed foot. I called 911 immediately, and waited outside until officers arrived. They took the report and secured the place. I’ve since spoken with a lawyer, and I’m continuing to cooperate with the investigation. I don’t expect everyone to understand or even believe all of this. I had a bad feeling from day one and wish I’d listened to my own instincts sooner. Hopefully this can help another renter. Thankful for the people who’ve helped me stay safe and sane through all this. submitted by /u/5am1984 to r/Renters [link] [comments]

I cant keep helping my parents but Idk how to stop
I (18F) have just moved into my own apartment its small and under construction so i dont have the upstairs available to me so i just have a makeshift bedroom (no real door but a curtain) a living room and kitchen dining room bathroom ect just to give you an idea of what im working with its awesome and i love it but its not big My parents mom 51 and dad 61 only have to kids left at home E (10m) and P (9m) they both have their own issues mental and physical Since i moved up to my place, I decided to have E on Saturday night and P on Tuesday and or Wednesday nights and that was the routine for a month or two and then some stuff went down and ever since I’ve been having one every single night except for Thursday nights because they go to a Bible study group and they get back late so they just go straight to bed this week. They didn’t end up going to their Bible study night and so I had one that night on my usual night off. I’m extremely tired from my week of work. I work in construction and I work long hours. It’s pretty easy work, but I get tired of it. It’s Friday night and I thought tonight i could finally stand up for myself and say no to having one stay with me but i folded and said yes As I was typing this out, I texted my mom and told her I couldn’t have E tonight even while he was here and asked her to come pick him up I attached my conversation my dad took him home i feel awful for my dad hes a hard worker and does absolutely everything now I i’m sitting here crying and I can’t even enjoy my night off because I feel like a failure for not being able to help The thing is they’re constantly telling me not to parent them whenever I get after them or scold them, but I’m the one doing most of the parenting. It feels like and whatever I complain about one of them’s behavior my mom will say well you don’t have to deal with it if you wanted to you could never have to deal with it again, but I’m the one stuck with it when I am also stuck with it, but she doesn’t seem to want to acknowledge it. Please Reddit I’m at my wits end what do i do? submitted by /u/night_scroller666 to r/WhatShouldIDo [link] [comments]

Beautiful cat has been dumped by it's owner...
UPDATE: I went back this morning and brought her home. I posted a new post with pics but apparently I have to wait 48 hours.. didn't know that and will post asap so you can also enjoy the cat pics :) Recently I met a beautiful cat in a small local botanical garden in my city. At first I thought she was looking wel so she must be living nearby. However I'm told that her previous owner dumped her and that she's now a stray. I've noticed she's getting skinnier and so I've been feeding her wet food (with added water) and kibble. I was asked if I wanted to take her home with me and I definitely would, but atm I'm renovating my whole home so for the time being that's not a good idea. I live downtown and have no garden and also wouldn't like to let her outside with all the traffic and people. I do have a fairly large home and my previous cat who I got from the shelter (she was nine when I got her and lived 11 years with me) had the largest bedroom all for herself. As winter is approaching, I've built her a shelter that I'm allowed to place somewhere in the garden. I quickly build something from leftover wood and only need to sand it a bit and paint it. I'm thinking about putting in straw/hemp and a blanket. The caretakers of the garden are sympathetic to the cat and think it's a great idea to give her a shelter. I would like to get some feedback on what you think would be the best course of action. Update: I just went back even tho the garden is closed. I opened a can of wet food and waited outside of the gate while calling her. I will return tomorrow morning with the carrier.. I really hope she doesn't mind me catnapping her! I've placed the shelter I made in the kitchen with blankets. Placed bowls near it with kibble and mineral water. Opposite of the kitchen I placed the litter box. I've build a cat scratching post for my neighbour's cat because they couldn't afford one so I can do that again easily. submitted by /u/KhanHaz to r/cats [link] [comments]

My wife and I can’t agree on our tiny bedroom walls — she wants cozy art, I want a projector screen. Is there a way to make both work, or do I have to give up? If you can, please share your room design!! submitted by /u/Own-Pattern-8571 to r/InteriorDesignHacks [link] [comments]

I am rich and no one knows.... AITAH?
I am 22yrs of age and work a relatively low paying job but I reside in a low cost state. I live in a friends spare bedroom and pay super low rent while making $53k/yr. I have a girl friend and friends that have no idea that I inherited over a million USD and have no debt besides a small amount on a truck I bought. My grandparents had a trust set up for me years ago and I have been benefiting in small amounts for years now. They recently passed and I inherited the remaining sum. AITAH for constantly wanting to save money and not offer to pay for my girlfriend (of 5 years, we will more than likely get married) + my friends meals when we go out? I am super unselfish and would love to pay for the few times I do go out with my friends but I do not want them to get suspicious and potientally lean on me finacially. I am also pretty good at investing and have $100k set aside for retirement/ emegency fund. I am waiting on my girlfriend to finish up school in ~3 years before moving out of my friends house and for us to begin our life. I would like to not rush into a house and travel a bit as her position would have the option of traveling for healthcare. *Edit*- I pay for my girlfriends food/ experiences anytime we are together, apologies for not making that clear above *2nd edit*- My best friend is the one I live with. He is well off and if he wanted market rent it would be some rando (which he does not want) He enjoys my company living with him and is one of the 2 peoplpe that know about my situation outside of my mother submitted by /u/Best-Ad4170 to r/AITAH [link] [comments]

Is it an insane idea to sleep with my bedroom window open in London?
I genuinely don’t know. I’m a student and I live in a house share. My bedroom is street facing and on the ground floor. My bedroom back at my mum’s house was the same, and she always discouraged me from sleeping with the window open (even though we lived in an extremely safe area) because in fairness the windows opened wide enough that if someone had wanted to climb in they would have been able to. Likewise, my housemates think it’s wild that I would consider sleeping with my window open in south London. But the window is pretty high up for a ground floor, like even a tall person would have to be lifting themselves up somehow, and it opens outward horizontally in a manner that the person - even if they managed to force themselves through the small gap - they’d be hanging over the window until they pushed themselves through to land upon my desk. I just can’t envision a scenario where anyone would think it was a clever idea, or where I wouldn’t immediately wake up if they did happen to think so. Is that really naive in London? It is a residential street, but it’s just behind a road with a lot of traffic and shops etc. So I understand the concern on a basic level but I feel like logically it just doesn’t make sense to deny myself the breeze ETA: I’ve literally never slept with the window open. As I said, I had already been told not to when I was living at home, and because my housemates thought it was dangerous I’ve never done it here even though (before this post) I didn’t see a huge issue with it. I posted here to gauge whether I was mental for considering it; I’ve never done it and don’t plan to now. So I’m not putting in anyone in danger nor am I thick as pig shit, thanksssss submitted by /u/JmoonlightD to r/london [link] [comments]

Found in MIL’s house
We were visiting my mother-in-law in upstate New York before Christmas and discovered small black objects underneath the mattress in one of her spare bedrooms. They were neatly arranged in perfect little piles, and we didn’t notice them anywhere else in the house. Any idea what they could be? submitted by /u/MSull1583 to r/whatisit [link] [comments]

AITAH For Not Letting My Pregnant Sister Sleep In My Bed?
Edit: Posted and update. Thanks guys! Original post: I (26M) rent a small two-bedroom apartment. I live alone, but I use the second bedroom as my office because I work from home full-time. My older sister, "Lily" (31F), is 6 months pregnant and soon to be single mother. She has some issues with her apartment (in a disagreement with her landlord, and in the process of moving out), so she asked if she could stay with me for a few weeks. Of course, I said yes and that I would be happy to accomodate her for as long as she needs. She moved in last weekend, and the first thing she did when settling in was pointing towards my bed and saying: "I'll take this one." I laughed, thinking she was joking. Only later in the evening when I asked her if she needs anything else before going to bed did she mention that she was not joking about wanting to sleep in my bed. Now I'm a little bit of a germophob, and I am quite uncomfortable with the idea of other people sleeping in my bed. I told her that I am uncomfortable letting anyone else sleep in my bed. But I will gladly set her up with my guest bed (which I did use to sleep on before buying my current bed, and I know for a fact is very comfortable and spacious). Then, she started guilt tripping me saying that since she got pregnant she's having problems falling asleep and that she needs the bigger more comfortable bed. I stood my ground and told her I was happy to accommodate her, but I wasn’t giving up my bedroom. She sulked, but she took the guest bed. That lasted exactly two nights before she started complaining that the bed was “too stiff” and that she “couldn’t sleep.” I offered to buy a new mattress topper, but she refused. Instead, she tried to pull the "you’re my brother, you should want to make me comfortable" guilt trip again... I told her that she is lucky I can even take her in, since I work 10 hours a day from home and I do value having a work enviroment that's private, calm and quiet. She called me selfish and accused me of not caring about her or her baby. I told her she could take the couch if the guest bed was that unbearable. Well, she did... but exactly for 1 night before turning into an absolute menace. In the second night on the couch, she made sure to sigh loudly all night, "accidentally" bump into things, and complain the next morning about how "horrible" I was making her feel. The following day, she kept making calls and talking loudly on the phone while I was working. I didn't pay attention to the actual calls and what she was saying, but later it became very clear... In the evening I started getting phone calls from most if not all of my family members. Apparently, she was ranting all day on the phone to my family about how rude and how horrible I was making her feel, trying to make my family put pressure on me just to let her sleep in my bed... Like she's on a mission or something.. My mom took her side and tore me a new one on the phone saying that Lily is carrying a child and I'm being inconsiderate, she also said "I thought I taught you better hospitality than this, I am very disappointed". My aunt called to tell me that my uncle (her husband) used to sleep on the couch and sometimes on the floor next to her when she was pregnant. Even my cousin (who I haven't spoken to in like 2 years) called to tell me I'm being selfish. My father is taking my side telling me to ignore them and that my sister is a fuck up that she got in that situation in the first place... But I feel like my mom is giving him a super hard time in the background because he did sound kind of hesitant when I asked him to have my back. Honestly I'm just feeling like I'm in the middle of a soap opera drama. My mom is threatening to come take Lily home (yea like that's much of a threat haha) but she's giving me such a hard time and telling me I disappointed her and that she raised me better.. I don't know how to feel about this anymore.. AITAH for not letting my pregnant sister sleep in my bed? submitted by /u/SilenceFiction to r/AITAH [link] [comments]

I[43M] found a used condom in the bin that my wife[43F] and I have in our bedroom. We have not used a condom in the last decade and I have no idea what should I do now?
I am not The OOP, OOP is u/grandeeur I[43M] found a used condom in the bin that my wife[43F] and I have in our bedroom. We have not used a condom in the last decade and I have no idea what should I do now? Original Post - rareddit March 26, 2018 So I was taking a nap yesterday in the bedroom when I heard my daughter quietly walking in and asking me if I can give her some money so she can go out with some friends of hers. So I do that and on her way out, I still don't know how she managed to do it, but she kicked the small bin that my wife and I have in the bedroom. We use it to mostly throw away small things that we are too lazy to get to the trash. I was rather annoyed at getting my sleep disturbed so I told my daughter to leave it and that I will pick it up. She walks out of the room and I carry on with my sleep. I wake up a few hours later and I notice that the bin is kicked over and that some of its contents spilt out. I start cleaning up when I noticed something peculiar. In the pile of papers and napkins, I found a condom. A used condom. My wife and I don't use condoms. I am pretty sure I've never used one ever since I had a vasectomy after our daughter was born. So the question is, how did this one end up here? There is the obvious answer but I don't know. I keep thinking of different scenarios but the thought that my wife may have been unfaithful is the first thing that pops into my head and it's killing me. Maybe I am just paranoid and there is another explanation but I don't know how to approach this with her. What should I do about this? How do I start this conversation? I could use some serious help over here. tl;dr I found a used condom in the bin that my wife and I have in our bedroom. I have not used a condom in the last decade or so and I have no idea how to approach this matter with my wife. RELEVANT COMMENTS ApprehensivePickle2 Uh...how old is your daughter? Is it possible it's hers? OOP She is 16 but I don't know if she is sexually active. My wife and I talked with her about sex and how to stay safe so I guess it is possible. I just don't know when she could have done it, you know. She mostly stays at home and focuses more on her school then ... social stuff. She barely stays home alone and most of the times she has friends over, they are mostly other girls. I don't know, maybe it's hers but I have no idea why she'd throw it away in our bin and not the one where we usually throw the trash ~ Veiran If you're up for it, could you give us an update for the resolution? On topic: As mentioned by some others, there's two possibilities: either it's from the activities of your wife or your daughter. Acquiring the truth is paramount here. First, how is your marriage? Do you and your wife argue a lot? Are you intimate often (not necessarily sex)? Have you drifted apart at all? Second, are there periods of time where you and/or your wife are away from the house? Are there extended times when your daughter can be alone at your house? Has she expressed interest in boys/men that you are aware of? OOP Part of the reason why I said that nothing makes sense is that because my wife and I have a good relationship. Nothing out of the ordinary. She is acting like her normal lovey dovey type when she is around me. We go on dates and do normal things a normal married couple would do. So it wouldn't make sense for her to cheat. Veiran Then your wife is the first person you talk to. You're partners, after all, and like others have suggested, don't accuse her of anything. Pay attention to the way she speaks and her body language, if you can. If nothing seems off, then it comes down to approaching your daughter with your wife at your side. The truth will come out eventually. ~ Commenter You never mentioned how old your kids are. They could have used it and tried to dispose of it there instead of their trash. But... I mean... probably your wife is screwing someone in your bed. OOP I have three. Two boys and my daughter that I mentioned. My oldest is 25 but he is living abroad with his wife and barely comes home. The other is 22 and is away for college. And my daughter is 16. She lives at home and I can agree that maybe it is hers. I have no idea why she'd throw it my our bin ... it just doesn't make sense. Nothing makes sense since yesterday and I just don't know what to do Update - rareddit March 30, 2018 I posted earlier this week about my issue and I honestly had no idea it will blow up this much. Something like 500+ comments on it and 1.4k upvotes. So thanks for that. Also, I expect that not a lot of people that read this post would remember my previous one. I can't update it properly since it says on the sidebar that you can't update locked or removed posts so I have to post this as a separate submission. If you want to read some of the comments on the previous one, go to my account history and you can find it. The best way I can describe what happened for those that are unfamiliar with the story is that I found a used condom in my bedroom trash can. My wife and I don't use one ever since I had a vasectomy done like 10 years ago so it didn't come from me. I will admit that the first thing that popped into my head was that infidelity was involved but like many of the people that commented on my previous post said, it could have also just as easily come from my 16-year old daughter. That she is a teen and you know, they are notorious for doing some dumb shit. Like having sex in your parents' bed and tossing the condom away in their trash can. It didn't sound plausible at first, mainly because I guess I am not ready to see my little girl in this light, you know being sexually active and all that even though I expect her to be. But after some time has passed and I had time to sit and think, it really would have made more sense for her to do something like this, than my wife. I spent the entire next day with my wife. I posted on Tuesday, so this is happening on Wednesday. I had a completely crappy day and my mood was pretty sour. And my wonderful wife picked up on that and she literally spent the entire day trying to cheer me up. She took me out for lunch at my favourite place even though she is not really a fan of this restaurant, we played tennis together even though she doesn't like this sport. She even helped me out with a hobby of mine that I love and while she doesn't partake in it, she never voiced any disapproval of it. In fact, she encourages it. It's those small things that she does that make me feel appreciated. They are a reminder to me that my wife really loves and cares about me. That day I realised how much of a fucking idiot I am for even thinking that she is capable of hurting me or our family. I felt like an asshole for even considering the idea. So I told her, I told her everything. I told her about the condom and how I found it. The mixture of shock and surprise in her eyes when I told her that I found a used condom in the trashcan were genuine and that was enough for me to know she had nothing to do with it. So I told her that I am thinking that it came from Kara(our daughter). We were going back and forth when we heard our son coming into the room and saying "I am sorry". I should point out that the son in question is my middle child. I have an older son that is 25, this one is 22 and my daughter is 16. My wife and I looked at Simon and asked him what he means. My son then went on to explain this story. About a month ago, my son, his brother and his brother's wife were at home while I was on a business trip and my wife and Kara were visiting her parents. So one evening, Simon, his brother and his SIL went out for dinner and after that decided to go to a club. My oldest son and his wife took off earlier than Simon and came back home while Simon stayed for a little longer. He eventually came home but he wasn't alone. He picked up a girl at the club and brought her home with him. My son explained that since the bed in his room is single and our guest bedroom was already occupied by his brother and SIL, he found the next best thing, our bedroom. He did the deed there and tossed the condom away in the trashcan. In the morning he changed the sheets but he forgot to empty the trashcan and the condom remained there. I was really surprised at this and so was my wife. I honestly expected to have this conversation with my teenage daughter and not with my adult son. My wife said something similar to him, that we should expect something as stupid as this from his sister and not from him. But in the end, we hashed things out and I am glad we found the culprit. So my post finishes here. I want to say thank you to everyone that commented and got involved in my previous post. Your words really did help me and I am very grateful for your help. You talked me through an honestly baffling experience and pushed me in the right direction. I started off with the wrong idea but in the end, you were right. It was indeed one of my kids. Not the one we expected but still. Thanks for everything guys and have great day/night. Take care :) tl;dr I found the culprit. It wasn't my wife and it wasn't my daughter but it was my son. He brought home a girl and had sex with her on our bed. He tossed the condom away in the trashcan and after forgetting about it, he left it there. All is well in my household and I want to thank you for that. RELEVANT COMMENTS BlackRogue9 Well, at least you know your son uses a condom even when he's drunk, i could forgive the inapprppriate use of your room. OOP Even though I slagged him off quite a lot in this post, I am proud of him. I am really happy he is keeping it safe. Ghonaherpasiphilaids You should.probably tell him this. He's probably quite embarrassed and it might help to hear that from you. OOP We had another talk yesterday and I told him how I feel about this whole thing. That even though what he did was rather idiotic, I am not mad at him and I am happy he did the right thing in coming clean about this. I have always had an easy-going relationship with my children and they know they can come to me or my wife with anything hence why I guess he felt comfortable enough in talking to us about his sexual adventure. He is a great kid and I am proud of how he handled this. I would have said and felt the same if my daughter was the one that did it. Need help adding life to my small bedroom
Hello! I recently moved and am renting this cute little room that's 6 x 12 feet with a 9.5 foot ceiling. I'm decent at DIY but am feeling stumped on how to make the space look better. Looking for (very) budget-friendly layout/design/ decor ideas and recommendations that will bring some personality to the space without overcrowding it. Ideally I'd love to... Somehow make my bed look like a big daybed. Cover the exposed overhead storage nook. Add art or a gallery wall, but l'm hesitant since I don't want it to look to crammed. Add plants, but I'm not sure where to put them or hang them Note: The shelves above/next to the patio door and the ones to the right of the overhead storage nook cannot be removed. I definitely don't want to get a new bed frame; the bed is on super tall risers so l can store stuff under it. Also.. the bed is a full. I've tried rotating it but it does not fit. Might be obvious but I don't know if you can see it in the pictures... there's a permanent vertical radiator in the far right corner of the room next to the brown dresser. I have a TV on the nightstand, but I might donate it since I don't use it. Thank you in advance for any suggestions!!! submitted by /u/itoldyousoph to r/HomeDecorating [link] [comments]

How can I make my son's small bedroom feel special on a budget?
I'm redecorating my son's room next weekend. It's a very small room. He's 4 Loves spiderman, vehicles and books. Favourite colour is blue and red He has navy curtains, a navy comforter (currently being washed when I took this picture), his actual bed and rug are the things I am working with and will not change. I have a small can of navy blue paint. I was thinking of painting one wall. Thoughts? He also has a circular wooden sign with his name on it (green, brown and black) that was gifted to him that I planned on hanging up somewhere. Which wall? I have the Ikea rast dresser/nightstand that I plan to stain in the colour jacobean. Ideas on how I could add to his room in cost effective ways? What do I hang over his bed? submitted by /u/MRS2432 to r/interiordecorating [link] [comments]

Suggestions for my small bedroom
I’ve been feeling the need to rearrange my bedroom and maybe replace some furniture but I feel like the size and layout of my room is rather limiting my options so I’m hoping to get some suggestions or ideas. Bedroom is roughly 11ft x 10ft. I roughly measured everything and drew out the current layout. It’s the last picture in the album. I’m fine with getting rid of, or replacing, both the dresser and the shelf. I also planning to replace the bed frame at some point since it’s partly broken. I want to keep both my desk and queen mattress, but I am aware that those two take up most of my bedroom and is kind of limiting my options. wall mounting my tv is also something I’m open to. I’m aware my bedroom needs some sort of decoration. I’d really appreciate any and all suggestions! submitted by /u/hellomorning1 to r/DesignMyRoom [link] [comments]
