A self-built spec house, described as "a castle; a cathedral; a temple; an affirmation of the American dream and the fertile potential of the Jeffersonian Hinterlands". Let's take a look...
It "looks" small but it isn't, however the architecture is a little funky. There is a room on the top floor dedicated just to the bathtub. Kinda like it but Not sure what that stuff in picture #13 is. The front facing kitchen island looks unfinished. Rooms are in several levels with a step, probably pretty challenging for a toddler. Especially the one, from a kiddo's playroom to the office looks pretty dangerous, on #36. What were they thinking!? The"open face" steps (#38) looks like a bad idea. What's the grey glass thing on the left side (#39) - a glass window to the floor below? A view into a play area? Weirdly wild or wildly weird - you name it! https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/300-John-Lemley-Ln-Christiansburg-VA-24073/220296162\_zpid About the house: (with pictures and blueprints) https://benpennell.com/300-john-lemley submitted by /u/jve909 to r/zillowgonewild [link] [comments]

Door idea for small kitchen
I’m looking for door alternatives for this space between my small kitchen and the stairs to the unfinished basement. Having it swing the other way is not an option (see ceiling). I’m looking into pocket doors, but I don’t think there’s space for them?! (The fridge sticks out much further than the wall, so no sliding barn doors either.) I use the door frequently (as laundry is in the basement), but I would Love to be able to put in shelving on the wall next to the window, as kitchen space is sooooo limited. Any suggestions??! submitted by /u/Forsaken-Teaching161 to r/Remodel [link] [comments]

San Anselmo idea: micro food hall + community kitchen - would this work here?
I drive by a building that is currently for sale (just off of Red Hill and Drake) in San Anselmo all the time and can’t help thinking it would make a great small food hall / community gathering space. Something along the lines of a mini Oxbow-style setup that would house a handful of well-curated local vendors (coffee, casual food, maybe wine/beer), shared seating, indoor/outdoor vibe. The kind of place you’d actually hang out, not just grab food and leave. Maybe even a commercial kitchen for rotating chefs or aspiring food startups, plus things like community cooking classes or pop-ups. I realize it’s a bit removed from the main downtown stretch, so foot traffic isn’t a given but it also feels like the kind of spot that could become a destination if done right. Curious how others feel: Would you be excited to have something like this there? What would make it feel like it fits San Anselmo? Anything that would make you avoid it? I think something like this could be community-backed instead of traditionally developed (locals contributing smaller amounts + having some ownership), vs a single developer-driven project. Not asking for anything, just curious if people would even be open to that idea. Appreciate any honest feedback even if it’s “this would never work here.” Trying to pressure test the idea. submitted by /u/Accomplished_Air5590 to r/Marin [link] [comments]

Help with small kitchen, no counter space
I am having a hard time with the lack of counterspace in this kitchen. Hard to see but I have a large cutting board (my only cutting area) to the left of the kitchen and my coffee machine towards the back left. There is no room for a center island. Do you think I could get away with adding a rolling cart where this bench is positioned? It totally makes me feel cut off while cooking but I have no other ideas. Help! Looking for ideas for shelf stable foods that can be stored in a small space and quickly prepared
My current living situation is not the best as I am living with someone that I do not feel safe sharing common spaces, like the kitchen, with. I have been keeping food in my room as a result, but those items often require further preparation (like using a microwave for multiple minutes) or aren’t very healthy (crackers, granola bars, etc.). I am looking for shelf stable stuff that requires minimal preparation OR for things that I can quickly grab out of the fridge without needing additional prep (I have protein shakes in the fridge, as an example). Sorry, I know this is kind of a difficult ask but I would appreciate any ideas you all can provide submitted by /u/PrimaryAd3560 to r/EatCheapAndHealthy [link] [comments]

ran my small kitchen through home ai now i cannot pick one
This apartment was left to me by my dad. It has not been used for years and the kitchen especially feels very outdated. The color choices are honestly pretty bad. it is a small space and i am trying to make it brighter and more functional without doing a full renovation. I used Home AI just to visualize a few different directions based on the current layout and generated these renders. First photo is the current kitchen. which one would you pick for a small space like this? Also open to any suggestions. layout tweaks, color swaps, storage ideas anything that could make it feel warm but not cramped. Edit: Thank you all so much for the recommendations. My roommate of one month wanted me to do therapy with him as a condition for inviting friends over to the apartment
TLDR: met someone who i thought was a good match but ended up not being a match in the most alarming way. He wanted me to do therapy with him, and would say and do the most bizarre things. Sharing this in celebration of him finally moving out. A couple months ago I sublet the spare room in my NYC apt to someone (34,M) I met on Reddit. i have lived in the apartment for 5 years now. Problems started almost immediately after he moved in. One of the main issues was that he arrived with a significant amount of shared-space items that he had never mentioned before. Not only did they not fit in the apartment, but he also began rearranging things and moving my items and furniture without asking... He started directing where things in the apartment should go and placing decorative objects in areas of practical spaces. The breaking point for me was when he placed a tray of several large vintage crystal decanters and wine glasses directly on the center of the small kitchen island as decoration (this is in NYC and the island is where I cook). The decanters were large, fragile, and took up most of the space. I told him that while they were beautiful, they couldn’t stay there because i need the counter space. I also hated the idea of the apartment being alcohol-centric to put it on display on the kitchen island. This upset him quite a lot and led to a series of increasingly intense conversations about fairness, "gracefulness", communication and our relationship as roommates. During one of these discussions he asked if I would be willing to go to therapy with him. At this point he had lived in the apartment for barely a month. To say I was shocked, shooketh and gagged would be an understatement of last year, but I kept a poker face and said I was open to the idea if it helped resolve tensions, mostly hoping he wouldn’t actually bring it up again. 15 minutes later he returned back to the topic of therapy and asked me a follow-up question; he asked me if I had agreed to therapy only because he had suggested it, or whether I would have independently thought of therapy myself. In other words, I think he knew how crazy the idea of therapy sounded and wanted me to validate him furthermore after I had said that I am open to the idea of therapy. This probing made me come to the slow and scary realization about him. He is a person of extreme intensity who constantly analyzes, calculates, questions, and interrogates every interaction. He would ask me similar questions to measure my intentions and morals, but frame them as "just trying to understand what you meant/ understand you better, why would you think the worst of me??". I would always feel probed and examined under a microscope as you can see above. It was exhausting. This was also a source of our tensions as I look back on it. After that discussion we spent the next two weeks mostly quiet, civil but not socializing. Then Halloween weekend came around and a friend asked if they could come over to stay with me. She has visited me every year before him in the apartment. I checked with my roommate first to make sure he was okay with it out of courtesy despite the clear guest policies. This prompted the response in the screenshot. I even compromised to him in return by telling him that she will exclusively stay in my bedroom which has its own bathroom, so that he won’t be bothered by her presence. I planned to bring her water and food from the kitchen if needed be. He still found a problem with it, claiming that I have control issues and that there was no point in asking him anything if I was going to do whatever I wanted to do in the apartment. The crazy thing is that I gave in and did the therapy with him, and regretfully regretted it. He exploded into bursts of rants in therapy and the therapist did little to no help claiming « nobody is right or wrong » . I distanced myself as far away as possible from him after, worried he would lash out to me. Some of the other bizarre/outrageous things he did: - He posted on part of his reddit apartment search that he prefers not to live with people who are on psychiatric meds. He also asked me if I was on psych meds when we met the first time and explained that he does not prefer to live with someone taking psych meds. It seemed like he had a bad experience. I agreed with him, saying that while I respect people who take psych meds, I would prefer not to live with them if possible but that it's not something I actively screen for. A month into his move in, I found prescription bottles of Escitalopram and other anxiety meds in his name lying around. - While we were hanging out shortly after he moved, I once told him in passing "... blah blah since I tend to be an introvert". He told me he actually didn’t appreciate that I hadn’t disclosed that I am an introvert when we met, and said that if he had known I was an introvert he might have made different choices about moving in. When I asked what he meant by that, he said : Him: "Well, I am a 100% extrovert, and I didn't want us to be passing ships in the night, and expected this to be... sort of a Golden Girls situation where we are close together." Me: "... Well, I am sorry if you feel that my introversion is something I should have announced to you, but that does not mean I won't spend time with you at all but rather that I do need some time alone from time to time with myself to recover and reflect. So if you would like to spend time and hang out with me like we are now, just tell me or ask and I can let you know if I am free". I kid you not, he said : "Well...... I am not sure if I like that, because I don't like to put myself in a position where I am being told yes or no" Me: "😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀 ....... So if you have a work obligation or any other obligation, and if I ask you to drop whatever you are obligated to and hang out with me non-stop 24/7, are you saying that you will do it? Is that what you are also expecting me to do? While he did not answer me yes, he also did not answer me no and had to think about the answer before diverting to another topic!!! I never really truly understood his nature as I had to distance myself from him, so please let me know if I missed something clearly obvious from him. Anyway, he finally moved out. Here’s to hoping I won’t have to do therapy with the next one!! Stay safe out there! submitted by /u/nightshade_45 to r/badroommates [link] [comments]

Small pastic base that holds threaded tubes that screw into metal loop and seats into the center of base. Found in the kitchen. Any ideas?

What small updates could help move the needle towards dream kitchen?
My husband and I just moved into our first home, and the kitchen is beautifully huge! The previous owners put a coppery-gold peel and stick backsplash, which I plan to replace, but I’m not sure with what. I don’t love the amount of orangey brown going on here, and I’d love a way to cool this kitchen down. I would be so thankful for any ideas about how to make the coloring in this space more refreshing! submitted by /u/Ancient-Material654 to r/homedesign [link] [comments]

What is this for, kitchen sink in our rental
We moved into this unit recently and it's quite dated and full of "character" lol. We have no idea what this small container thing is in the kitchen sink. It appears to be rubber and there is no drainage hole at the bottom. We don't know what the use of it would be and wish it wasn't there so the sinks could be bigger lol. But would love to know what the hell it is for. submitted by /u/APeekInMyPlanner to r/whatisit [link] [comments]

I’m a frogger living in someone else’s apartment right now. Ask me anything.
(Upd: YES, I USE AI FOR ACCURATE TRANSLATION, STOP BRINGING IT UP. ENGLISH IS MY THIRD LANGUAGE, AND I RUN MY TEXT THROUGH AI FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE) I’m a 20-year-old woman, and for the past few months I’ve been living as a phrogger in an apartment inside a historic building in Saint Petersburg, Russia. I found out about the place while working on a student report about old residential buildings with my classmate (let’s call her Anya). Anya lived in one of those big old apartments—basically a Soviet-era communal flat. It’s a huge apartment split into separate rooms rented by unrelated people, all sharing the same kitchen and bathroom. Everyone has their own room key, plus keys to the building and the main apartment door. While we were filming, Anya mentioned that people in her flat almost never lock their room doors, and the main door is often left open because tenants go into the stairwell to smoke. I remember thinking: Anyone who gets inside the building could just walk into this place. Kind of shocking, because in Russia everyone usually locks everything all the time. She also told me there were two locked storerooms inside the apartment that nobody had entered for years. Apparently, they belong to the state. Both doors were secured with a simple padlock held in place by a few screws—screws you could remove with a basic screwdriver. I was curious, because in old Saint Petersburg buildings, abandoned rooms sometimes hide interesting antiques. I forgot about that place until I dropped out of university. I lost my dorm room, and I couldn’t find an affordable apartment anywhere near my job. After wasting a month’s salary on a tiny overpriced room in another communal flat, I suddenly remembered Anya’s building. And then I had a ridiculous but tempting idea. I grabbed a small bag, a screwdriver, and went there to see if I’d be lucky—or kicked out immediately. I arrived around 3 PM, when most residents should be at work. I waited by the entrance and slipped in when someone walked out. The apartment was, unsurprisingly, unlocked. I stepped in, ready to tell anyone who saw me that I was visiting Anya. But the shared areas were empty. So I pulled out the screwdriver and started removing the screws from one of the padlocks. My hands were shaking, but no one showed up, and eventually the lock gave way. Inside was… just a plain empty storage room. Not a hidden apartment, not a secret chamber filled with antiques. Just four steps wide, six steps long. A dusty bike. An old sewing machine in a wooden case. No window. A small ventilation hole and two electrical outlets—only one of which worked. Bare concrete walls and floor. I decided to see how long I could stay there. The first night felt like an adventure. It got very cold fast, so I ended up spending the night locked in the shared bathroom. After that I went back to the storage room. When the tenants left for work, I tried checking the unlocked bedrooms. I knocked first, and if no one answered, I peeked inside. That same day, I snagged a spare set of three keys from one of the rooms and went back to my rented place. I ordered a sleeping bag, a cheap heater, and a water filter online. The next time I returned to the storage room, it already felt weirdly like home. Turns out Anya had moved out long ago. There are six rooms in the flat, and only three are occupied now: one by a mom and her kid, one by two young women, and one by an old lady who constantly goes out to smoke in the stairwell. I attached a thin wire to the padlock outside so I can pull it back into place from inside and make it look untouched. The storage room is right by the entrance, and nobody pays attention to it, so no one has noticed me. I put a small mattress under my sleeping bag. I fill my water filter from the shared kitchen tap. I enter the empty bedrooms to charge my phone and power bank or use someone’s printer. I shower in the shared bathroom. The heater does a decent job in the tiny room, though I’m still scared that the one working outlet will burn out, leaving me freezing in winter. Every day, I work, eat at a nearby canteen, walk around, talk to people. Then at night I come back to my storage room. I live a pretty normal life—and I don’t pay insane rent. After six months, it honestly feels like this is exactly how things are supposed to be. Upd: OMG, such a huge amount of feedback… I expected people either wouldn’t believe me or would judge me for using AI, and that the post would just get buried. I think I’ve already answered a lot of questions, and they’re starting to repeat. I’ve responded to pretty much everything related to my situation. Honestly, I’ve only used Reddit twice and I’m not an active user, so constantly checking the comments is really draining for me emotionally. And being this open about my situation has been a serious test for my conscience. Please don’t get angry if I ignore your question — I’ve most likely already answered something similar. I’m going to step offline for a while. I’ll check back when I feel ready. My heartfelt thanks to the people who wrote supportive words. I don’t really deserve it, but know this: you’re wonderful people, and your capacity for empathy is a real virtue. submitted by /u/Commercial_Flight912 to r/confession [link] [comments]

Any ideas on what we could reasonably do to our kitchen that doesn’t include removing the granite, knocking out all the cabinets, and changing the layout yet?
We bought a flipped 70’s split level home in 2021. Didn’t move in until 2022. Anyways it was super clean but a very builder grade, millennial-grey house. We are 100% DIY, my husband and my uncle are able to do basically everything without help. Anyways, a full kitchen reno is 3-5 years out since we’re already mid-reno on our guest bath/laundry room (it flooded) and also dealing with mold remediation our two upstairs bathrooms and primary bedroom, renovating them at the same time. Then going to start IVF, who knows how long that’ll take. So, we’re focused on those projects right now and the kitchen has to wait, but I’d like to warm it up and add some interest meantime. Struggling on where to start. Here’s what I CANNOT do for a while: - replace the granite - change the layout - replacing major appliances I’m replacing the cheap matte-black faucet (it’s chipping) with a polished nickel one… Kohler Artifacts pull down or a Kingston brass heritage faucet. Thinking of removing the microwave and its upper cabinet to build a painted cabinet-style range hood (not the Pizza Hut kind) with proper ventilation bc right now it’s a MESS. The microwave doesn’t do anything lol. Maybe some small decorative border tiles lining the rim the range hood? I like Tiles of Ezra’s “Flor Azul” or “Tulip Azul” border tiles. Open to changing the subway tile backsplash too. Will cover that giant thing above the fridge with another cafe curtain (I make sourdough bread and sell it so that’s what all that junk is). Open to painting the cabinets…prob the lowers? Idk. Suggestions? Cabinet hardware recs that go with polished nickel? I want to bring in personality and the ones we have now are so plain. I also hate the counter top appliances everywhere but can’t think of a solution. The floors are staying for now, but the long-term plan is natural-oak light-wash knotty engineered hardwood. Walls will be painted (some are we just aren’t done) with Sherwin Williams Bohemian Lace. Maybe wallpaper somewhere, suggestions or opinions on that? Yes, the pendants are ugly and the light above the dining table is awful. Will be replacing those but idk with what, yet. Side note…I garden and it’s a NIGHTMARE bringing everything in with the current split sink we have but it’s hard to find a replacement bc of the sizing. Basically looking for ideas to add warmth and personality without doing a full knock down type of reno yet within the parameters I laid out. Open to different ideas than the ones I’ve disclosed. Maybe staying below $3-5k for now? Ultimately I want some warmth and to be able to feel better in my kitchen. submitted by /u/Charming_Debt_289 to r/kitchenremodel [link] [comments]

Beautiful cat has been dumped by it's owner...
UPDATE: I went back this morning and brought her home. I posted a new post with pics but apparently I have to wait 48 hours.. didn't know that and will post asap so you can also enjoy the cat pics :) Recently I met a beautiful cat in a small local botanical garden in my city. At first I thought she was looking wel so she must be living nearby. However I'm told that her previous owner dumped her and that she's now a stray. I've noticed she's getting skinnier and so I've been feeding her wet food (with added water) and kibble. I was asked if I wanted to take her home with me and I definitely would, but atm I'm renovating my whole home so for the time being that's not a good idea. I live downtown and have no garden and also wouldn't like to let her outside with all the traffic and people. I do have a fairly large home and my previous cat who I got from the shelter (she was nine when I got her and lived 11 years with me) had the largest bedroom all for herself. As winter is approaching, I've built her a shelter that I'm allowed to place somewhere in the garden. I quickly build something from leftover wood and only need to sand it a bit and paint it. I'm thinking about putting in straw/hemp and a blanket. The caretakers of the garden are sympathetic to the cat and think it's a great idea to give her a shelter. I would like to get some feedback on what you think would be the best course of action. Update: I just went back even tho the garden is closed. I opened a can of wet food and waited outside of the gate while calling her. I will return tomorrow morning with the carrier.. I really hope she doesn't mind me catnapping her! I've placed the shelter I made in the kitchen with blankets. Placed bowls near it with kibble and mineral water. Opposite of the kitchen I placed the litter box. I've build a cat scratching post for my neighbour's cat because they couldn't afford one so I can do that again easily. submitted by /u/KhanHaz to r/cats [link] [comments]

I found $1,200 while on work release and snuck it into the jail
In 2010 I was a trustee at the county jail. I started off working in the kitchen but had recently gotten approved to be able to work outside the jail. I was assigned to a church run thrift store type place, similar to goodwill but they would help the homeless as well. There were 4 or 5 of us that they picked up every day and we worked in the back warehouse part unloading people's donations and sorting them into their appropriate sections. One day I was sitting down eating lunch just looking around the warehouse and a box of books caught my eye because it was full of brand new looking hardbacks of some of my favorite authors. I started going through the box and noticed a small, thin paperback tucked along the side of the box. I pulled it out and it was some kind of joke book so I went to fan through the pages and noticed a gap near the middle like there was something in between those pages. I flipped it open and saw cash so I slammed it shut and looked around to see if anyone else had noticed, nobody around so I took off to the bathroom. I pulled the cash out and it was 12 very old $100 bills. My heart was racing I had no idea what to do. I eventually decided to tell 2 of the other guys that I was cool with and they immediately wanted a cut so after a little back and forth I gave each of them $300. I kept the money hidden for a few days trying to figure out what to do until one day one of the guys came to me and said the main guy at the store had told him he was going to ask the jail to swap me out with someone else. I was young and dumb so I was always playing pranks and joking around and they'd had enough. I put the cash in a ziploc and taped it to my inner thigh. I was patted down going back in the jail but they barely missed it so I had made it. Once back to the dorm I hid the cash in a stick of deodorant. I went to another trustee that worked all over the jail and he agreed to take it to the lobby and deposit it in my account on the kiosk. Supposedly the kiosk didn't accept $100s so he had the idea to mail it out to his sister and have her deposit it for me. She ended up depositing it in his account so I had to order through him. We lived large for a few weeks but I eventually got too confident and told the officer in charge of the trustees like basically bragging about it and ended up getting banned from working outside the jail again. Tl;dr: found $1200 while on work release, snuck it in the jail, mailed it out of the jail, spent it on snacks submitted by /u/sQuints71188 to r/confession [link] [comments]

She never hit me again
This happened when I was 8 or 9. For context, I’m in my 40s now. When/where I was growing up, physical discipline was not just the norm, but a moral imperative if you were to be considered a good parent. My parents both worked long hours, and I was often left home with my grandma. Parenting responsibilities often fell to her, or so she seemed to think. One of her favorite methods of discipline was to have me go pick out a wooden spoon from the kitchen drawer, hand it to her, hold out a palm, and wait for her to smack it. She never went easy. One day, she accused me of breaking a little glass “garden.” It was just this small glass enclosure with some nicely arranged rocks, water, and moss inside. It was a gift from my mom to my dad (he liked these kinds of things), and to this day I have no idea how it broke. I told her I didn’t do it, she accused me of lying, I got lippy, and sure enough… “Go get a spoon!” I’d learned by now that the small spoons stung more. The big ones spread out their impact more evenly and also went slower. Besides, if I chose too small a spoon, grandma would hit much harder, as if to tell me I wasn’t going to get away with it. But today, I was angry. I went to the kitchen and picked out the thinnest spoon I could find. I held it at each end, pushed my knee into the middle, and cracked it. Then, I fit the wooden splinters together as best I could before going back into the next room and handing her the sabotaged spoon. She didn’t notice. It didn’t help that her glasses were as thick as her thumbs. She did notice it was a thin spoon, however. She also noticed the dirty look I gave her; the first time I’d ever dared be so brazen. She saw red. She took a mighty swing, and the spoon broke in half. I put on an Oscar-worthy performance, wailing at the top of my lungs. I ran to my room and stayed there; she didn’t chase me. Later, when my parents got home, I overheard her, distraught, telling them, “… I had no idea I’d hit him that hard… I don’t know what came over me… I’m sorry… Christ have mercy…” That was the last time I ever got the wooden spoon, and also the last time she ever hit me, full stop. Although I overheard her apologize to my parents, she never apologized to me, so I let her feel guilty about that for the rest of her life, never telling her what I’d done. It would be another 30 years before I’d finally tell my own parents this, my earliest and longest-held secret. Love ya, Grandma. submitted by /u/rEvVoMaNiAc to r/pettyrevenge [link] [comments]

Ideas for my budget kitchen refresh?
Hi all! Looking to crowd source some fun ways to jazz up this kitchen in as small of a budget as possible ($6k or so). Ignoring the obvious AI mishaps, here’s what I’m thinking. Paint cabinets and convert to soft close hinges Replace counters and backsplash Replace lighting Replace faucet Possibly removing the cabinet and microwave and adding a pretty range hood instead The floor tile is staying and I like green with that beige well enough. But suggestions on cabinet colors are welcome! submitted by /u/CupAffectionate444 to r/kitchenremodel [link] [comments]

What should I do with this elevated platform in my kitchen ??
I just moved into a new apartment and there’s this odd elevated platform area in the main room (photo attached). It has a few steps going up and a half-railing, and I’m not sure what its original purpose was—but I’d love to turn it into something cool or useful. It’s located directly opposite the kitchen, so I’ve thought about making it a cozy reading nook, a tiny breakfast area, or even a work-from-home spot. But I’m totally open to creative or unexpected ideas—especially ones that make it feel intentional instead of just… weird. For context: • The rest of the room is open with good natural light. • I like a mix of cozy + functional design. • I’m on a budget, but I’m okay with small DIY projects or secondhand furniture. • It’s across from the kitchen, so something food-related could work too. Any suggestions on how I could style or use this space? submitted by /u/Ok-Problem-6942 to r/interiordecorating [link] [comments]

AITAH after I told my boyfriend to fuck off because he kept bothering me about getting a clit piercing?
Me and my bf have been together for half a year and for the most part it has been a good relationship but lately he's been asking me if I could get a clit piercing. For those who don't know what a clit piercing is it's where a woman gets a piercing in her private part, specifically the clit (the bead looking thing). Now, I'm not judging people who do get piercings there but I don't want to. It's dangerous and you have to get it done by a piercer with much experience and he wants me to get it done by his friend. I told him no the first time he asked and he said okay but then he mentioned it again when we were done having sex saying it would be sexually appealing and would look hot on me. I told him no again and he huffed this time, huffed because I didn't want to get a piercing in my vagee? He told me I'm no fun and, how I know about his bad girl fetish. I have no idea what that means. I told him many reasons why I don't want a piercing and soon went to bed as he went to his buddies place for some reason. He kept this up for a few months, hoping I'd give in I guess? And everytime I said no but it's really been bothering me because a few weeks back he asked right in front of my friends, "so how about that clit piercing appointment?" I looked at him, he looked at me, my friends looked between us and I just lost it. I stood up and yelled at him to leave me the fuck alone About that and I wouldn't be opening my legs to someone just because you have some weird fetish. He stood up and yelled back and it turned into a screaming match. I left with my friends and we haven't talked since. One of my male friends told me I was a bit mean to air out his fetish like that, and that men have needs to. So, AITAH? UPDATE okay so a lot of shit happened. He finally texted me and told me he'd drop it if I just came home but I just couldn't do it. Him asking me that again IN FRONT of my friends was the last for me. I told him we're breaking up and he took that very badly he was full on scream crying at me over the phone, I could hear him breaking stuff in the background. I soon just hanged up and not even an hour later he showed up to my friend's house and banged on her door until she answered through the door cam and said I wasn't there (lie). He knew I was there and began kicking the door. He yelled through the door while he kicked it that it's not just about the piercing but how I seem to always shut down his ideas (examples; he wanted to paint my kitchen all white, he wanted to sell our car for a new better one, he wanted to get a dog but I'm allergic.) shit happened and he actually broke the door down, the police was called, friend took him to small claims court and we haven't talked since. Though when he was arrested he called me a bitch so that's great. submitted by /u/Unusual-Midnight-922 to r/AITAH [link] [comments]

Awkward Kitchen nook ideas
Looking for ideas of what to do with the small, awkward nook in my apartment. It is right next to the kitchen stove & also by the living room. As you can see currently have a litter box there. I do like the litter box there as I live in a small apartment and not very many options of where to put it. My ideas would be to add extra storage. One idea was to make a cover for the litter box. Since the space is so awkward I can’t find a litter box cabinet that would fit so I was thinking of making one out of wood to make a square to just place over top, then I can set other things on top for more storage. Or possibly a skinny bookshelf? The other issue is the molding on the bottom makes the space about 16.5 wide but 18 wide above that and 33 inches deep Thanks in advance!! submitted by /u/sierralynn24 to r/HomeDecorating [link] [comments]

What was this small kitchen wall cabinet used for? House was built in 1931.
Hey all! My husband and I are buying our first home and cannot for the life of us figure out what this cabinet in the kitchen was used for. The house was built in 1931 and most of the old features are still there (built in hideaway ironing board in the kitchen, crystal doorknobs, etc). We first thought for brooms and mops or even a gun rack, but the cabinet is too small, only about 2-2.5ft tall and it’s only about 3-4in deep. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!!! submitted by /u/thisismynewdream to r/whatisthisthing [link] [comments]

TIFU by punishing the sandwich thief with super spicy Carolina Reaper sauce.
In a shared hangar with several workshops, my friends and I rented a small space for our knife making enterprise. For a year, our shared kitchen and fridge functioned harmoniously, with everyone respecting one another's food. However, an anonymous individual began stealing my sandwiches, consuming half of each one, leaving bite marks, as if to taunt me. Initially, I assumed it was a one-off incident, but when it occurred again, I was determined to act. I prepared sandwiches with an extremely spicy Carolina Reaper sauce ( a tea spoon in each), leaving a note warning about the consequences of stealing someone else's food, and went out for lunch. Upon my return, chaos reigned. The atmosphere was one of panic, and a woman's scream cut through the commotion, accompanied by a child's cry. The culprit turned out to be our cleaner's 9-year-old son, who she had been bringing to work during his school's disinfection week. He had made a habit of pilfering from the fridge, bypassing the healthy lunches his mother had prepared, in favor of my sandwiches. The child was in distress, suffering from the intense spiciness of the sauce. In my defense, I explained that the sandwiches were mine and I'd spiked them with hot sauce. The cleaner, initially relieved by my explanation, suddenly became furious, accusing me of trying to harm her child. This resulted in an escalated situation, with the cleaner reporting the incident to our landlord and threatening police intervention. The incident strained relations within the other workshops, siding with the cleaner due to her status as a mother. Consequently, our landlord has given us a month to relocate, adding to our financial struggles. My friends, too, are upset with me. I maintain my innocence, arguing that I had no idea a child was the food thief, and I would never intentionally harm a child. Nevertheless, it seems I am held responsible, accused of creating a huge problem from a seemingly trivial situation. The child is ok. No harm to the health was inflicted. It still was just an edible sauce, just very very spicy. TLDR: Accidentally fed a little boy an an insanely spicy sandwich. submitted by /u/mtsiri to r/tifu [link] [comments]
