Because when I scream on this subreddit most of you only see me as unhinged and not well… which yk what that’s true can’t deny that 🏃‍♀️ Opening (Yes ik we’re all angry and traumatized) I am well aware on how most of you feel regarding the show’s ending including myself. I know we are actively grieving. I know they done fucked us up I know. But this thematic argument (linked in this post) about the deeper messages hidden within the show regarding Byler is undeniable, and I really wonder what to make of it after reading this analysis. I truly would like to hear your thoughts. She don’t bite and I don’t bite. Pls don’t bite me back. I am simply inviting friendly DISCUSSION. I’m not delusional…….. Just the mentally ill type of observant I know how most of you feel at this point regarding any type of love wins gate or conformity, but I beg you, as someone myself deeply into film analysis like the rest of us and being a former film student a few years back, everything is absolutely intentional. That’s why I keep arguing this. So many dots add up, and this Tumblr post is a prime example of how people are connecting those dots. This isn’t even the tip of the iceberg of cryptic information we have been given btw. 3. We literally used to be federal investigators… where are yall at in dark times? Stranger Things knows its fandom, They know we deep dive because don’t lie I remember us pre Vol 1 and 2. We were actual film cracked up analytical detectives breaking down absolutely everything and tying it in a neatly wrapped bow without any inconsistencies as literally all roads lead to Byler. AND YES… the counter argument will always be: “can’t you just accept we got baited and used for money and clicks and move on?” Yes girl of course I know that I’m not comatose. I am absolutely aware as much as the rest of you. But I am a person as well as many others in this fandom who constantly questions everything. But I have patience up until a certain point I won’t be preaching this until I’m dead like relax… when I’m being fed new interpretations and new hidden messages every day I don’t think half of u guys know what’s going down on love wins twt we have some amazing analytical fans even if u don’t agree u can’t deny that talent of connecting dots even when there lowkey isn’t a dot to connect to lol. yes, there are some far fetched takes that make me laugh I’m ngl, I know, I see them too. When I see people connecting stranger things to something completely unrelated almost in a crack ship type of way I do laugh but still amazing work to even connect those dots together in the first place. But this post and the Tumblr analysis linked isnt like that. I beg of you to be open minded to this analysis and information and take it in, and let me know what you think. Maybe make some counter arguments against this take because I fully see this and it all clicks thematically perfectly for me. 4. “It’s just bad writing” … as of right now absolutely, but what if it’s intentional. I absolutely find it extremely difficult to believe that Netflix deliberately allowed production to be this sloppy and noticeably horrible with the budget they were given. Btw Netflix is strict. They don’t just allow creators to do whatever they want. They need to green light everything. Anyone saying otherwise and acts like Netflix is entirely lenient and laid back is so obviously wrong and is definitely trying to set peoples minds down a certain path with purpose. Why would they potentially risk fucking up entirely their biggest franchise after years of incredible quality? Literally anyone with eyes, ears, and any sense of critical thinking, and a nose to sniff up the absolute bullshit that is and can see that the story made no sense this time around and how laughable the quality was. Like please guys that documentary was a laughing stock genuinely felt so unserious. Hundreds of people work on this, and you truly believe this is the best hundreds of people can do? Especially regarding continuity, everything IS INTENTIONAL IN FILM THIS IS WHY IM SO ADAMANT IVE LITERALLY DONE THE SCHOOLING IN FILM THERE IS SO MUCH THAT GOES INTO IT I can’t imagine what it’s like in a high budget and such a massive team like really sit with that and think. Personally to me this feels like a big play and joke in front of us that most of us can’t look past due to the sheer amount of disappointment and let down, which is exactly why analyses like the one I linked are interesting to consider just for a split second. 5. Pls stop setting urself up with dates and seeing those dates as absolute affirmations, If you want to truly enjoy the theorizing part of the fandom. How do we get baited after the queerbait.. Dw I fully believed these too and understand why “IT’S GONNA BE JAN 7,” “IT’S GONNA BE ON THE SUPERBOWL,” “JUST WAIT IT’S GONNA BE SNL” None of us are in the creators room these are just theories. Stop getting disappointed after a bit of time passes and nothing happens. Again it is just theories not us bowing at the duffer brothers feet like they are our impending saviors as we await the rapture and our fates get decided in byler limbo. Be fucking for real u guys I declare as of right now me and the duffers are not on good terms and I have a grudge I am not happy with them. But I have an open mind considering the hundreds of others of contributions and years that have been put into this project, I still have patience (until maybe approx nov 2026, then i riot.) I’m sure more is at play here, but stop depending on these dates as 100% affirmation and then getting all annoyed after, this will only make sense if you look at it in more of a time frame instead of one specific date. 6. Ok but contradicting myself this is one exception LMFAO March 22… (Will’s Birthday Edition) CUZ WE DONT FORGET THE SIGNIFICANCE OF WILLS BIRTHDAY IN THIS HOUSE I will personally say myself, I’ve been pretty intrigued with March 22, as it’s Will’s birthday, which was intentionally forgotten about. Mama a wills birthday is behind you 🎂🎂🎂 Wills birthday is in front of us and approaching And with that suddenly we’re getting tons of movement and drops of info or merch release dates and this is all counting up to Will’s birthday. I don’t know if that’s a coincidence. But I would like to point that out. Don’t think anything will come out on the 22nd but I do believe we might get more clues or context. I do think we need to keep our eyes peeled at least until the end of the year. Once again I only riot after nov 2026 that’s how long my bargaining period is allowed to last😭😭 I really truly don’t think this story is over yet. You are allowed to believe otherwise, I just think we are missing a puzzle piece 👀👀 It’s been almost radio silence from the Duffers. Furious fans, bloated storylines and television seemingly made only to sell merch … it’s time to stop dragging series out. Most of them deserve no more than one outing Though it aired almost two months ago, fans are still angry about the Stranger Things finale. So disappointing was the wrap to the five-season sci-fi that its cast are still having to deny that there is an upcoming secret final episode. I was not remotely disappointed, however. I thought the show ended perfectly: when I stopped watching it after season one, episode eight. I’m going to come out and say it, so that we can start fighting straight away. I believe that almost all recent TV shows should have been one season long. Stranger Things had a perfect eight-episode arc: a little boy disappeared into a hellish parallel dimension and his mum (who was Winona Ryder!) fought tooth and nail to bring him back. The show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers, seemingly knew this, as they originally pitched the series as an anthology featuring a different cast of characters each season. Netflix, naturally, said no – after all, you need a franchise with familiar faces if you want to sell customisable Stranger Things terrariums at two for £30. And so by the end, the show was stretched out beyond recognition and stripped of everything that made it groundbreaking and original. By all accounts, Ryder was left with nothing to do. But didn’t I say almost all recent shows? I did, thanks. Let me list them for you quickly, so the red mist can descend upon you and distract from everything that’s important in the world. TV shows that I believe should’ve been a one-and-done include: Industry, Killing Eve, Bad Sisters, Am I Being Unreasonable?, Your Friends and Neighbors and Nobody Wants This. But let me ruin my own credentials upfront: I am so committed to my stance that I haven’t even watched the second season of Fleabag. First, you must understand that I am not claiming that every show ever made should only have one season: The Simpsons should have 12; Mad Men, seven; Buffy, five. Largely, it’s only shows made in the last decade. The problem has arisen due to our unreliable and unpredictable media ecosystem. Commissions are being cut, budgets are being slashed, risks are being aversed. There’s more competition than ever before, and showrunners simply have no idea if their shows will be renewed. This environment encourages some creatives to bring everything to the table with the first season of their show, creating something original, tight and self-contained. Christopher C Rogers, co-creator of the tech drama Halt and Catch Fire, has almost admitted as much: “I think uncertainty reinforced a hold-nothing-back mindset in the storytelling that got us to our best work quickly,” he said in 2017. Conversely, “When you hold story back or try to draw it out, the audience can tell. Not knowing if there would be a metaphorical ‘tomorrow’ really saved us from that mistake.” In the case of Halt and Catch Fire, this all worked out in the end: the show’s fourth and final season is considered its best, with a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. But this can’t always be the case. Because while budgets continue to buffer, something else is happening that results in diminishing returns. “We live in a world of IP [intellectual property], where the safest thing to do is reboot something that has an audience,” Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan said last year. Meanwhile, fellow critically acclaimed writer David Simon (The Wire) has complained he “can’t get anything made now” because “I’ll never write anything that’s going to be a franchise”. The media’s obsession with IP means that once something is successful, it’s not allowed to die. Shows must be stretched out for maximum profits, regardless of what’s best for storytelling. Stranger Things is not just a terrarium: it has also been turned into a Broadway play and series of novels, and will soon have an animated spinoff. In this environment, is it any wonder that one-off shows that prove successful are renewed for season two? It doesn’t matter that the central mystery of your murder mystery was solved – there’s money to be made! “It was set out as a limited series and, you know, it has an end,” Bad Sisters creator Sharon Horgan once said of the first season show – she even called its finale a “lovely, satisfying end”. I couldn’t agree more, which is why I didn’t bother pressing play when the show somehow suddenly returned for season two. I’m not alone in thinking less can often be more. Killing Eve’s first series ended with an episode IMDb users rated 8.3 out of 10, but its finale – three seasons later – scored just 3.4. Meanwhile, a headline on Cracked reads: ‘‘‘Nobody Wants This’ Didn’t Need a Second Season”. I’m probably alone in not wanting more Industry – but again, I felt I watched a satisfying and complete arc in season one. A graduate wanted a job and then she got it; I was invited to ponder at what cost. I personally don’t need three more seasons of cost-pondering, even if it’s fun to watch beautiful people be bad. Listen, I don’t want you to have a heart attack, so it’s probably time to admit: I haven’t seen Succession. From what I can tell, its four seasons were all equally successful at storytelling – so maybe it’s the exception I can use to prove my rule (don’t ask me how. I told you I haven’t seen it). But because life is nothing without strong opinions you can spout across the dinner table, let me reiterate: almost all recent TV shows should have been one season long. There's no hard evidence of anything, it's largely rumors, speculations and unverified accusations which is partially addressed by Papergames (=PG) to be false. But one thing lead to another and now everybody's dogpiling on PG and its staff. Some accusations are also only tangentially related to the operation of the game itself (like one photographer being accused of stalking Zayne's cosplayer but later suspected to be dating said cosplayer or another photographer having close ties with Caleb's cosplayer). Also quite a bit of nothingburgers. Key points: - Employee posing on company's dime as regular players to glaze the cosplayers and shape the narrative in the community: don't you dare talk negative of the company and if you're not a (big) spender then get lost. [1], [2], [3], [4], [5] - Marketing department accepting bribes or embezzling funds (estimated to be close to or over 100 million RMB) which lead to subpar merch quality and funds not reinvested back into the game for future improvement but rather for personal fun of employees. [6], [7] - Female staff/outsourced workers abusing their position to (intimately) interact with cosplayers at offline events at the cost of players' time and money. - Female employees sowing dissent among players, enjoying the infighting and mocking them for being otome players (calling them "otome bitches") and boycotting the game (false advertisement of a unit issue etc). [8], [9], [10] - Female employees dissing self-inserters (yet again with "otome bitches"). [11], [12] - Male employee modeling private parts of MC [EDIT: footage] and proposing to let men self-insert as 5 LIs to play the game. - Community isn't pleased that PG's ideas are suspiciously similar to fan content (designs from fan art, themes from AO3 fics). [13], [14] - Nepo hires with large yearly bonuses (over 1 million RMB). Responses: - PG says one former female staff and one intern who left didn't participate in offline event planning so they didn't abuse their positions. This reply also addresses some unknown speculation regarding MC's face model being based on the female employee who worked on it being false. [15] - PG replies again about staff abusing their position but this time states it's now two former employees and one intern. They address that LADS is an otome immersive game (probably refuting BL, male self-insert and hate towards female self-insert). And also threaten legal action against the person who collected and spread around the "evidence" to rumors and speculations leading to cyber bullying. [16] - Alleged fujoshi doesn't work for PG anymore and is actually not a fujoshi and it was all just silly fun and unserious talk from her side (but community still suspects otherwise) to keep up the conversation with real fujoshis at the company. But she admits and apologizes to mocking and insulting players as well as unintentionally upsetting playerbase with BL implications. [17] - PG made a statement that LADS is an otome game and LIs are heterosexual. [ss] Leaker's account is gaining popularity and people are celebrating that she brought Papergames to their knees when other in-game related issues couldn't. EDIT: - It seems the manager that were embezzling merch funds is arrested. But now players think some of PG's theme songs are suspiciously similar to songs "Good Boy Gone Bad", "Call of Silence", "Janet" and "Stranger Things". [18] - Papergames is on the Chinese news for the whole fiasco with merch (bad quality of merch not matching the paid price, perfunctory packaging, goods are already damaged when received and customers aren't being refunded or sent replacement). Now that the series is over I want to know what do you ladies and gentlemen think of what’s next for the series. I will give my views and my experience on this kind of sci-fi universes. These are the next things that I’m vouching for: - The most obvious: the first shadow film adaptation from the theatre. This one I would say it’s coming. What I’m not 100% sure is if they will end up doing it or not. We can see other universes as Harry Potter where they decided to not producing the movie and leave it for the theatre. I guess it will depend of it as a product and how they are envision what’s next. If I put the business hat of a producer as Netflix, this is a sure bet and money so, I would say it will happen. - The before of stranger things: they mentioned that they would produce something before stranger things and it’s linked with the first shadow. This makes me feel that: they may decide to convert the first shadow in a whole new series (larger the product, larger the money for Netflix and the brothers) or they can follow a different storyline. I think something will be cooked. - Stranger things a new adventure: this is 100% cooked and I would bet they have already built the scripts and talked with the characters and even signed something. This is the coming back to the original storyline. I would say it would start with eleven showing her living a normal life as the other characters. Life has happened so everybody will be in a different way of living. In some moment eleven will be discovered and more events will happen in parallel as someone will start playing with the dimensions. They will link the new technologies and advancements in genetics engineering and IT in a way to try to reproduce different “accesses to dimensions” in order to explore new worlds and to understand how the worms work. The plot is great if thought appropriately but again, this is just my view. I could keep writing endlessly about how the story could be and it would look like amazing. However, will it happen? IMHO this is good nostalgia and in 10 years time or so it would make sense and they would all make so much money that they would retire forever (if they haven’t done it yet). This is 100% sure that will happen as the product and as a product its a commercial success. The only thing is that I see some commercial problems with the franchise, the duffers moving to paramount, etc I will explain this later. - Stranger things welcome back: it can happen that they start a complete new series based on the original plot but with the children of the main actors. This would cross nostalgia, a coming back for the actors, etc some of them will be lost in the way due to obvious reasons but this sells good too. A different thing is how you are going to build the plot and if it’s good with a good story, etc. - Videogames: they didn’t build any AAA games about the series and I guess it’s for a good reason. However I think they are evaluating what to show that hasn’t been explained to compete the universe of stranger things. It may be an arc between series (4-5, 2-3…) and have the main characters too. The problem? The videogames world is not cheap, Netflix doesn’t know how to build this, paramount that is in the picture may involve someone else but it’s a tricky world. There are loads of amazing games that disappear and they are good. Let’s see. - D&D products and wotc (wizards of the coast): this is a product, let’s not forget and I’m sure they have already kicked off the talks with WOTC who owns d&d now to expand things and do merch that produces billions. This applies to d&d, novels with side stories, magic the gathering (I would bet my money they will produce cards….) and so on. This is a way to make people keep spending and everybody is happy. In terms of story and adding value? I don’t know this part and someone could debate if it will add something. It’s not a risky bet as they will make millions. - Podcasts: they may too create podcasts with parallel stories and the main characters and new ones. I wouldn’t discard this part. - Novels: coming to the WOTC part, I’m sure they are building or they are thinking in how to build stories only on books but again, you need solid stories. - Theme parks: back to the future in the universal studios explained a different story or the movie and I wouldn’t discard them building something similar. Commercial success yes, value to the plot and series, I would doubt. - Characters solo series: well, this is something that can go great or go south. In the case of friends with joey it went to the bin directly. Better call Saul IMHO was even better than breaking bad but again, this is all about the plot, quality, characters and storyline so…. A new solo series of Dustin studying the worms and involving again the troupe? Eleven in her new location finding children or other people with powers? Who knows. This is all that as a summary comes to my mind but my doubts are if the duffers will continue being successful with this new ventures as this can accelerate the come back. Some good directors had a good series and then the rest was. It so good so they live out of the things they built before. There is a commercial agreement with the duffers and paramount…. So this means legally what? Netflix distributes the series but I doubt they left the rights only for the duffers to end all the money, this world doesn’t work like this. Who knows? There are so many factors but one thing is sure: there will be a come back but they need to be careful or the franchise can go to an end if the quality of the contents are not good. Let’s be realistic, the timespan for something these days is minimal and stranger things won but …. We are surrounded of contents that are good and fail every single day.
