RE:Costco - Dyson V9 Submarine Extra Cordless Wet and Dry Stick Vacuum w/ Additional Wet Cleaner Head $199.97 in store only YMMV
... if you're expecting a digital mop. The submarine head basically just... absorbent version of a Swiffer but with less actual cleaning power. That said, $199...

Alternative power mop to Swiffer that has a refillable canister?
I'm looking around and I see a lot of alternatives on Amazon but not sure of the quality. I have 1 Swiffer now and I'd like to find a refillable bottle for it but am thinking of also getting a knockoff brand for upstairs. I see a lot with reusable washable microfiber pads as well. I'd like one I can also use other companies pads with it . Any recommendations? The Swiffer is probably use on the kitchen floor with the throw away pads and use maybe a microfiber on the wood floor after sweeping submitted by /u/geekydreams to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

I love my swiffer mop *because* it doesn’t do a very good job.
I was taught, when cleaning, that floors are always last. First you clear your counters, wipe them down, clean the stove top, you might do dishes too. Then you sweep. Then you mop. This is the order things are done. If you deviate from this order, you will inevitably get dirt on your freshly cleaned floors, so they are no longer clean. So naturally, I only actually had the perseverance to follow through with all the steps, cleaning my entire kitchen all the way to mopping it 4, maybe 5 times a year. One day my husband brought home a swiffer wet jet. “Those things are stupid.” I said, “they’re wasteful and terrible for the environment and they don’t even do a very good job at getting your floors clean.” And yet, when he used it, the floor, although maybe not clean to my own or my mother’s standard, did certainly look much better. And it was nice to walk around with bare feet without getting little crumbs stuck to me…. Suddenly I found myself using it several times a week. The floor would be dirty. So I would clean it. Not very well, sure. But it was certainly better. Somehow the fact that this tool was never intended to get my floors completely spotless and sanitized gave me permission to just use it whenever. Sweep and mop first, and then if I still have the motivation, clean the counters too. Don’t even worry about getting the floors dirty again, because it’s not like they were super clean to begin with. Or, just sweep and mop and leave the counters gross. Who cares. It’s a lawless land out here. There are no rules. But my feet aren’t stepping on crumbs and weird dried sticky stuff and I like that. No bucket, no pressure. The swiffer mop isn’t going to do a very good job anyway, so it doesn’t matter so much. But it does do a better job than my former strategy of getting overwhelmed with how many steps were involved in order to mop my floor and just not doing it. The funny thing is that even though my floors are not clean clean, they’re the cleanest they’ve ever been, because I’ve stopped letting perfectionism and rigidity get in my own way. I still for-real-mop my floor 4-5 times a year, but in the meantime my kitchen looks so much better, and feels better to walk on too. submitted by /u/rauntree to r/adhdwomen [link] [comments]

Is it ok to use standard swiffer power mop solution on my hardwood?
We’ve had a swiffer power mop for a while and I’ve been a little paranoid about our hardwood floors since we just moved in a couple of months ago. I’ve mopped a couple of times with plain water, but it would be much easier if I could just use the swiffer power mop with the providedsolution. Wondering if there’s any issues that I should be aware of? Our floors don’t get that dirty, but I wanna make sure that I’m not ruining them. submitted by /u/ar1680 to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

Is the Swiffer Power Mop really that much better than the Wetjet?
The wetjet honestly seems fine. It's not like the power mop moves around at the bottom to scrub more, does it? I feel like it's the pads themselves that are considered more effective because it has those stringy things on it, but it's the power mop itself just sprays and not much more compared to the wetjet. I already have a refillable wetjet bottle (I pulled the top off and removed the internal prongs that lock the cap in place). I've been using the same bottle for 4 years. I didn't like the original disposable pads, they don't clean much, so I have reusable microfiber and even terry cloth pads that scrub the floor really clean. I've been using the same wetjet for 4 years. I am only asking because I am moving and wondering if I should buy a power mop and upgrading all my supplies, or just buy another wetjet and reuse all the supplies I already have. I can probably even pick up the wetjet for free somewhere on a buy nothing group. submitted by /u/watership-down to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

Power Mop Swiffer vs Swiffer wet Jet
So I’m in need of a new Swiffer ( original was my wet jet ). Pros of original swiffer, 1 cheaper cost for mop pads 2 throw away 3 large solution containers 4 solution containers not very expensive 5 does an adequate job for my needs . 6 my original one has lasted 6 years 7 light weight, easy to use Cons: 1 Smaller surface cleaning area 2 does adequate job 3 sometimes need to touch up because of “ small smears “ POWER MOP SWIFFER Pros : 1 larger surface area to clean 2 does offer reusable pads 3 unknown ( I’ve never used before , hence why I’m here ) cons : 1 more expensive unit 2 pads more expensive 3 solution smaller and more expensive So for those who have used both , what say you ? Neededfor simple everyday or every other day use . Used on natural hardwood floors for just a quick clean . submitted by /u/loving-living2 to r/Cleaningandtidying [link] [comments]

What are some products where the cheap version should be avoided at all costs?
There are times when it's important to buy a high end /r/BuyItForLife grade product, and times where a $10 knockoff is fine. Sometimes though the cheap version is actively harmful or just shouldn't exist. For example... Extension cords - Old cords with chipped plastic are a fire hazard. If you're running a high power appliance like a space heater blender, make sure the cable is rated for that much power. (Edit: Don't use an extension cord for a space heater) Appliances with heavy motors - A refrigerator with a proper refrigeration cycle can only be scaled down so far. They need at least 20 pounds of metal which costs an absolute minimum of $50 in materials. Amazon will gladly sell you a "refrigerator" that uses a Peltier cooler, but they're very slow and can't get cold enough to prevent spoiling. Very thin pots and pans - Pans need to be thick enough to hold and transfer heat. A paper thin pan is barely better than putting food directly on a burner. Heat control is awful and food will burn immediately. Expensive items in cheap cases - A $1000 phone should probably have more than a $5 case if you tend to drop phones. Get an Otterbox knockoff for $20-30 and protect your investment. This also applies to bike locks, luggage and laptop bags. Poorly calibrated measuring tools - Any half decent thermometer, scale or multimeter will be calibrated at the factory. A piece of crap meat thermometer that tells you the chicken is done at 145F could lead to food poisoning. Swiffer pads - At my local Walmart, a machine washable fabric pad for a Swiffer style mop is cheaper than a single box of disposable pads. More absorbent too. submitted by /u/Ajreil to r/Frugal [link] [comments]

Please stop using swiffer mop/ other pre made mop solutions!!!!
I get frequent floor restoration cleanings. It’s always at a home that’s been using swiffer wet jet, Mr.clean, fabuloso, etc. most people use way too much of the product, and even when they don’t, the product sticks to the floor. In this, the stickiness collects more micro dirt and dust over time. It’s just not necessary. Also, please sweep/vacuum before you mop! What I use for a standard cleaning on every floor: a self wringing flat mop, a clean water bucket, and a dirty water bucket. In the clean water bucket, I have a couple gallons of warm water and two to three drops of dawn dish soap flor the grease, and two drops of Mrs meyers honeysuckle dish soap for the scent. YOU DO NOT NEED A LOT OF SOAP! Suds are bad! When going to mop the floors, the mop should be damp not soaking wet. Wring that sucker out! When dirty, wring into a separate dirty water bucket so that your mop water stays clean longer. What I use for a deep cleaning/ restoration on tile floors: Hand and knees scrubbing, bristle brush, hydrogen peroxide. As seen in the first few before and after pictures, I used hydrogen peroxide. Followed up with a standard cleaning mopping. What I use for deep cleaning/ restoring hardwood floors: this is the only pre made mop solution I’ll use, and I only suggest this once every year for hardwood floors if mopped properly throughout the year after. I use Murphy oil wood floor soap in a bucket of warm water, I only use half a cap full. Not a lot! A scrub brush, ands and knees scrubbing. Again, clean water and dirty water bucket. To rinse the bristle brush. This is not a debate, you can say you use a swiffer or the other floor solutions and insist that you have clean floors, and I just won’t believe you. Open to answering questions though! Thanks for coming to my ted talk submitted by /u/shelbystroodle to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]
